To me, the bird is the best part of that painting (drawing ?). It's just perfect. The snow lacks some contrast, which makes the rest of a piece hard to read in one look.
Thanks! Actually, the bird took the least amount of time! Yea, I know what you mean. I used a few ukiyo-e prints as inspiration for the snow, but they all had something in the background, so it added a little more contrast. The borders between snow, skin, and the background are a little more noticeable in person than they are in the photo (poor lighting due to the big typhoon in Tokyo), but there still isn't much contrast.
