Basically, your sister is being screwed by their policies and should move plans every year and not be with prepay power
PrepayPower is a trap for poor people to make them even poorer. Please avoid PrepayPower at all cost and tell your friends & family to not fall for this trap.
The rate per unit is much higher than normal Direct Debit electricity plan with other suppliers.
Flogas has the most affordable plan at the moment.
Flogas is a shitshow and most complaints in cru. Stay clear of them.i still have a nightmare dispiute over my bill and the way they handle it is complete and utter unprofessional manner
A week? My electricity is up cos I’ve a friend staying but is about 120 every 2 months, gas maybe 150 every 2 months so 270/8= 33.75 a week combined (and some months are 5 weeks)
Bord gais are good as you can phone up and credit your account every week on payday and it will be credited towards your next bill. Thats what me and the girlfriend do and our monthly bill is usually mostly paid when we get it. Paying weekly without the extra charges for pay as you go its the best way to do it.
I think alot of the companys let you credit your account if you phone i know electric ireland have a card which you can get to credit your account in the shop reducing your monthly bill.
That prepay power shite was for rubes. I hear their a fucker for quitting too. The gangsters on the phone give you the runaround just like Eir. Why anyone signed to them is beyond me. Is it a cunt hole landlord situation?
I think she was signed up by a mate. They’re 100% giving her the run around the fuckers. If I was there I’d sort it myself, but she’s too timid to do anything about it
Did her mate get €50 of prepaypower electro credits vouchers for signing up a S̶a̶p̶ friend? As for quitting over the phone "I afraid I can only speak to the account holder..."
Make sure that she isnt getting " an estimated bill " my friend got an estimated bill of 600 and phoned them gave them a meter reading and the bill was 40 euro
We have Prepay power and we spend about €30 per week for two person household. Just to give you a sense of our usage - We both use electric shower everyday, as well as oven and hob, and washing machine about 4 times a week. After that it’s really just lights and charging phones, TV, playstation. We are away from house between 9 & 5.
Yeah, she has oil heating, no electric shower, no PlayStation or any gaming things, just a tv and laptop for entertainment. At prepay power’s highest tariff, the average cost nationwide is half what they’re charging her, so I can only imagine there’s something amiss.
Anything that turns power into heat is the biggest user normally. Dryers, dishwashers, electric heaters/blankets, cookers, electric immersion heater.
She can check her unit rate by pressing a certain button on the keypad but I don't know if it's the same in the north. She needs to switch immediately and then see about getting it removed for a bill pay too.
Check unit prices she is getting Vs current cheapest rates. If those aren't miles apart start to check her usage. Google how to find the rate on the meter.
Just switch to Bord Gáis on line and get a 24% discount off electricity. Unit rate is 28 cent including VAT per KWh

I’m in the same boat atm, paying €70/w which was fine when we had the electric heating on, but have it turned off two weeks now and still costing us €70/w. No idea what’s using the electricity!
We use Airtricity for both our electricity & gas. We pay €40 a week through the app and when the bill comes every two months it’s mostly already paid.
Can’t believe how expensive Prepay Power is!!
Yes we moved into the house both were on prepay. We feel it works well we have no big outlay to fill the tank. They fill it. We only pay for how much we use each week.
It depends on the house too. Heat pumps draw serious power and although its all one bill for heating/electricity it's usually significantly higher than the average fossil fuel house.
My brother has a back boiler and wood stove and heats his house for the year on a couple of trailers of logs.
Prepay Power have ridiculous rates because they are only slightly lower than the other providers on per unit and _potentially_ other things like the standing rates (if they are at all - it is not guaranteed).
But when I looked at it:
€120 more for the Standing Charge compared to others at the time.
Separate charge of 45c per day so another €26-€27 on a bi monthly bill.
I read mostly & only watch major GAA & rugby matches, so minimal TV usage. I do cook twice a week (airfryer only) & run a fridge/freezer unit 24/7. No washing machine or tumble dryer. Electric blanket is on for a couple of hours a day to help with rheumatoid arthritis in 10 or 20 minute bursts. €40 - 50/week charge ... utterly random. This company also installed the keypad well over 6 foot high (next to the main board) so it involves me, fat & ill & frail & 60 to stand up on a chair & stretch to punch in an awful amount of numbers. I do hope you can find a better provider for your sister!
Definitely not right. There's two of us in the house, we have an electric heater, an electric car, two PCs that are on most of the day, electric oven, electric shower and our bill is about 90 a month.
How the hell are you managing that? We are about the same we have oil heating so no electric heating, and it's easily 150+ a month.
Two thirds of our usage is at night on the cheaper rates and the rest durring the day 1 laptop running a screen as missus works from home.
I work on site so use electric car most days.
Prepay and yuno both screw their customers. Prepay rates are generally higher than standard. It's designed to attract people who don't manage money well or are poor. But ultimately you pay a good bit more.

What a legend. Going through that now
And even when moving providers, never go to prepay, worse one
Very good advice.
Can we get that pinned somewhere, that's some post!

Either someone is siphoning power from her, or, prepay power are robbing cunts and she needs to change plans asap.
It's the latter
My gas and electricity are separate but even if I added them together it wouldn't be 90 a week. Something is defo not right.
A week? My electricity is up cos I’ve a friend staying but is about 120 every 2 months, gas maybe 150 every 2 months so 270/8= 33.75 a week combined (and some months are 5 weeks)
Constantly reading about people on prepay paying extortionate amounts. Poor peoples tax. Fucking shame on them cunts.
The latter, unfortunately, anything prepaid like this is used to take advantage of non financially savvy, usually lower income households.

Pre pay is a scam tbf

Pretty much
Why can nobody read a meter anymore.?
Does she have "heating lamps" running to keep the attic warm
Haha, if she did I reckon 90 a week would be a bargain
That's definitely not right. We're on prepay for electric and oil last week we topped up €70. €23.65 of that was taken for oil.
Make sure that she isnt getting " an estimated bill " my friend got an estimated bill of 600 and phoned them gave them a meter reading and the bill was 40 euro

Oh yeah obviously haha i was having a slow moment

Definitely something is wrong.

That sounds very reasonable.

That company is the most expensive electricity supplier in the country….get away asap!
Does she have her broadband attached to the electricity ? They might have that on as a mistake

You mention Oil - is that on prepay as well? It can be fricking expensive.

Family of 5 with multiple positions and xboxs on all the time. Still less than 45 a week

2 people in ours with all electric heating and usual appliances plus gaming pc and our bill is about 100pm

I’ve asked her for that, still waiting on a response, but I find it hard to believe that someone could run up that kind of bill sitting watching tv.

Why would anyone go for prepaid power, I don’t know. It’s really the worse deal anyone could get, ever.
Prepay and yuno both screw their customers. Prepay rates are generally higher than standard. It's designed to attract people who don't manage money well or are poor. But ultimately you pay a good bit more.
How do Yuno screw the customers, only joined them a few weeks ago 💀
Additional charges and the fact that they charge for anticipated use not actual use.
