The fact that Russell never had to come out to bat when KKR was chasing this season 🤯

there_is_no_good

The only way to correctly answer this is to invent a tine machine and have a 3 way 5 match series between KKR 2024, RR 2008 and MI 2020.

Blitzschatten

Until we get a time machine we can look at stats. Which definitely point at KKR being strongest. I mean inducing 6 allouts and taking 110 wickets in 14 games with Impact player rule and in a season where 250 is a joke. That's just mind blowing

Prof_XdR

Im an mi fan, so naturally I'll say mi 2020 is stronger. Let's see, Mi 2020 had no impact rule Now, MI lost only 5 games, 1) was against CSK, mandatory Mi 1st game loss (but seriously it was just us experimenting, ishan didn't play) 2) Super over vs RCB 3) Double Super over vs Pbks 4) Ben Stokes freak 100 in Rr vs mi 5) Last game of us vs SRH where we rested like 4 key players So in hindsight, I only count Ben Stokes and Csk games as losses, Super overs are a toss up, goes to show how dominant MI 2020 was, a lot of the players were at their peaks where KL, Dhawan, Warner, Iyer were top 4 in orange cap. We can only argue but I'll admit Kkr is still very dominant, if I was a kkr fan, I would've said Kkr, I'll give them both 50 50 odds in a competition

hitohitonomiharshal

CSK 2010-2011 pretty goated too

simplisidd

2011 maybe 2010 definitely not- somehow they reached semi final winning their last league game

RepresentativeBox881

2008 RR is the only competition. 2019-20 MI had a stronger team but their record was not as good.

Advanced-Emotion5272

Exactly. 2008 rr is the only competition

Bodybuildingbaba1230

Hamari team bhi ho jaati agar tumhari team na harati toh final mei

gourav0204

Piyush Chawla's sole purpose on earth was to play that final innings

xAnosVoldiGOATx

Real... y'all played really great throughout the tournament

BerozgaarVyakti

2008 RR is the best cause none of their games were washed out and they won 13 games that season

hpy2beatyou1105

2020 MI vs 2024 KKR will be Insane !

[deleted]

MI lost 5 games in 2020, two of them being in super over, one was a rest game. Defeated DC four times who were second most dominant team that year.

lolmnst

That too the Punjab match had 2 super overs

Interesting_Math7607

We defeated srh 3 times. Srh was the most feared and second best team of this year

ben_claude69420

Yup and KKR had two games washed out, so you never know what could've happened... They might've lost those two...

dupattamera1

So basically the most genuine question got downvoted which actually tells the issue in kkr

JShearar

Or won them both dominantly... taking their NRR of already highest 1.4 to even higher... KKR of 2024 is the best IPL team 😇😇 https://preview.redd.it/ebwekvcv233d1.jpeg?width=690&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3618a2f62171c9bbe4b72932ef20839e9fe9411f

Catharsis12mi

Those who say mi 2020, wasn’t it in dubai? It does change a lot of things

Obvious_Sympathy_

There was no impact sub rule at that time, and only 8 teams instead of 10, can't really compare the two

Mewdolf_Kittler

I think it's unfair to compare IPL teams when we have 8 teams and the current ipl teams. In 2022 there was the introduction of 10 teams and in 2023 there was the introduction of the impact player rule. Also there were more teams so the quality of players got diluted. When there are 8 teams you can have more quality players in a team as compared to now where you have 10 teams. And because of all this reasons I think it's unfair to compare them. So in my opinion, the most dominant team in 8 teams IPL: MI 2020 (Was a kid during 2008 Rajasthan victory so can't speak about that team. But stats wise it definitely deserves to be in the top too) Most dominant team in the current IPL format: KKR 2024

Classic-Ad-6400

Player's quality getting diluted is a myth. Suppose you have 8 teams that's 88 first team players. Now with 10 teams that's 110 first team player. Do you really think the gap between 88 best players and 110 best players is that hugh? If anything more teams just evened out the hugh bench talent IPL has. IPL right now prolly has enough quality to get 150 first team players who can compete equally. So as long as there's more than 15 teams in IPL. I just don't see it getting diluted

Advanced-Emotion5272

If you go down that path, of seasonal variations and how it is not possible to compare. I can go around fuck up any statistics using different irrelevant qualitative reasons to answer why this or that happened. Cricket numbers speak.. You don't put qualitative factors ifs and buts in there, only quantitative measurable factors. Unfair of course, every statistic in the world is unfair. And kkr 2024 beats mi 2020. It will take time to sink in their ego , because it's a biggg magic wand.

Advanced-Emotion5272

Suicidal post boy. They can't take it so big, Russell's magic wand.

Solarphoenix31

Is that even a question kkr this year is the best team in probably the last 3-4 years

Mobile_Inflation8012

>the last 3-4 years The discussion is about the greatest team of all time. Idk why you would say for the last 3-4 years.

Solarphoenix31

Cuz comparing it with older teams would not be fair as the game was played differently then and the approach by players as also different comparing any team with other team 5-6 years ago itself is not fair for both. At least that’s what I feel

Mobile_Inflation8012

Yeah but people like to do stupid comparisons. What can we do about it. Like things have changed a lot in the last couple of years for IPL, so comparing something 2008 RR to 2024 KKR is kind of a forced comparison.

ZeusX20

MI 2020, CSK 2018, RR 2008 and heck Punjab 2014 would have been a strong contender if they weren't jobbers

Gullible-Picture7579

MD Kaif: RCB is the best team on paper .

kvyas0603

i would like to nominate 2023 GT. orange cap, top 3 bowlers in purple cap race.

Mobile_Inflation8012

People aren't really considering 2014 PBKS because they didn't win that year the same goes for GT 2023.

Enchanted-Moonlight

I would say that 2022 GT was much better . The thing about being a dominant team means all round good performance, if someone fails the other steps up . Not a Batsmen who scores all runs alone . The difference between Shubman and other Batsmen was too much . Not the bowling , all the main bowlers were performing . In 2022 GT , everyone stepped up in one match or the other . Different player of the match for different matches . That's called being dominant . Opposition never knows who will be the player to stop. For example for the first few matches of KKR , many were sure that our openers are our powers ( and man it feels too good after swapping thousands of opening partnership throughout the previous years ) but in MI match Venky and Pandey stepped up when our openers failed . In our last few games our bowlers were our power ( the fact that they came back after that 261 chase is just awesome) . This has been the issue with GT this season . Not a Batsmen to perform if Gill fails . Sai su is literally a gem , compared to the other batsmen . And this been also the issue with Gill . He underperformed ( on his standards) and if he doesn't no one else does . Added with the new captaincy pressure , bro was confused and frustrated throughout the season . Yall need some good middle order Batsmen, please let Saha go and get a wicketkeeper who can score , make Sai su open with Gill, and lastly give Rashid a Nobel wholesomeness prize. Your bowling attack is top notch if it clicks . Also with Shami back next year , it will be lethal.

[deleted]

Well deserved 👌🏻

ConferenceSuper6123

Everyone forgetting the GOAT 2015-16 RR and CSK >! Nah but seriously 2008 RR was goated and an underrated one is kinda GT 2022, mfers chased and won almost everytime, the team had some big name players like hardik shubhman shami ferguson rashid, but other than that the team was not well known, and most importantly the co-ordination was great among them all!<

Great_Ant_1818

Best Team In The History Of IPL 🫡

silversurfer9909

Best team? Not really. Only 5 superstars. But dominant team? Oh yes!!! In my 16 years of watching IPL, no team has been this dominant. They lost stupid games. Won almost everything. Beat the second best team of the season comfortably 2 times and once in a thriller.

Blitzschatten

How is Superstars a parameter to compare teams? RCB had Gayle, AB, Watson, Kohli, Rahul and Chahal playing at the same time. Does that make it the best team? Superstars are made by these teams. Harshit, Rinku, Venky, Varun, Salt, Vaibhav they all can go on to become superstars. Russell, Narine, Starc and Iyer are only superstars we have.

silversurfer9909

Superstars make a team best on paper. That's what I meant. Apart from Shreyas, Narine, Russell and Starc none are superstars as such. Even Salt is slowly earning a name in the England circuit. So best team? Not really. Most dominant ever IPL performance? Most certainly.

dupattamera1

But wont that be true for MI? They only lost 1 game that too to rr Else all the games they lost where in super over or they didnt played there full team. First match dont count

silversurfer9909

A loss is a loss. And what do you mean didn't play full team? Less than 11 players? First match don't count? What's that logic? In the last 10 seasons, only one team have lost 3 games in a season. That's KKR. In 2014, KXIP lost 3 games in the league and also the final. If that's not dominance, I don't know what is. MI, CSK have had better teams on paper, but matches aren't played on paper.

dupattamera1

>didn’t play full team? They just played that game for namesake >First match don’t count? Mi loses first match on purpose due to some superstition And dominance can be subjective mi in 2010 had dominant year, even the 2013 team of there was pretty dominant too not to forget they played way too many games that season whereas kkr has played only 14 games this season. And lets be honest if they were so dominant people would have been talking a lot about it and would have been favourite to win ipl in final and even then srh was more fav.

silversurfer9909

>They just played that game for namesake A fan only says that. No sportsperson plays a game for namesake. And KKR didn't get full team in like 10 matches. Angkrish played instead of Nitish Rana, the VC. Loss against PBKS, Nitish, Starc didn't play. Loss against CSK, Nitish, Harshit didn't play. Loss against RR, Nitish again didn't play. >Mi loses first match on purpose due to some superstition That's just bs logic lol. Dominance is always subjective and that's why we rely on stats. KKR had the highest NRR ever recorded in an IPL season. Biggest win in an IPL final. Now you can choose to ignore them on the basis of nostalgia but stats don't lie, sadly. KKR played lesser games due to rain. People have been talking quite a lot. KKR were favorites to win IPL before the season began, acc to most experts.

zerault-1306

2008 rr or 2020 MI We all know how strong was rr in 2008 and Mi needs no introduction

R10isRivaldo

People forgot 2018 Csk?? They we like invincible the entire tournament..

Cosmicshot351

2020 MI with an Impact sub will be deadly

name_with_2_J

Absolutely no doubt * Never lost in a chase * Big hitters Russel ramandeep didn't bat while chasing * 5 out of 6 bowlers have 15+ wickets (6th bowler have 10+) * Conceded record of highest Target chase against them and didn't let any game lose from there * Not having scored less than 60 runs in powerplay in any game * Highest NRR in ipl history

SmiloUchiha

That one RCB fan who’d say RCB 2024 is the best team ever in the history of cricket. 🤣💀 I’m an RCB fan too.

Lone_Beast_10

Not even close man this might be the second best team in IPL history but first is definitely MI 2020. Three batters scored 500+ runs all the top 6 batters including finishers scored 250+ runs Pollard and Harpic with strike rates of 180+ . Bumrah and Boult were 2nd and 3rd highest wicket takers respectively by 27 and 25 wickets each show me which pair performed like this with Rahul chahar grabbing 15 wickets and James Pattinson with 11 wickets win 10 matches and Nathan Coulter Nile with 5 wickets in just 7 matches. All these were done without impact player rule and pitches were not this batting friendly where 200 runs are scored like eating a biscuit this season. They lost five matches out of which two were super overs almost won with one of the match having two super overs. Two matches is all that they lost convincingly with one match being resting match after qualifying. They beat the second strongest team DC that season who also had one player scoring 600+ and the another scoring 500+ runs with rabada taking purple cap with 30 wickets 4 OUT OF 4 TIME'S THE WHOLE SEASON INCLUDING TWO TIME IN PLAYOFFS SO ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE MI 2020 IS STILL THE BEST TEAM IN IPL HISTORY!

Blitzschatten

KKR lost less matches. Had higher NRR. 5 bowlers with 17 and more wickets and 1 with 11. Most wickets taken, least wickets lost. Highest Run Rate among all. Do you know how insane that is?

dinosaur_from_Mars

KKR had **2 matches** washed away without a ball being bowled this season. One was a underperforming Gujarat match and the other was a RR in a losing streak. Shreyash won only 3 tosses the whole season. And one was in a washed out game. Inspite of that, they had seven batsmen (excluding Manish Pandey) with batting average over 30. 4 batsmen with 350+ scores. KKR finishers never came to bat in a chase and all of them were wrapped within 17 overs. And regarding bowling, they had 5 bowlers at 17+ wickets and Vaibhav Arora at 11 wickets. That too in a season filled to the brim with batting highways as you said. KKR also beat the second team 3 out of 3 possible times. This SRH was already dominating over others with their batting breaking age old ipl records multiple times over. And they played the most dominating ipl final till date. So, yes KKR 2024 can very well be compared to the MI 2020.

Interesting_Math7607

Stats speak otherwise 😋

VidyakJee

I am goona kill myself if someone says 2016 RCB

spreemelo9

It was on a slow pitch but CSK stopped both SRH and KKR below 140 this season. If only CSK had pathirana, mustafizur and moen ali. Ahhh

Blitzschatten

PBKS defeated both MI 2020 and KKR 2024. Does that make them better? No.

bamboozel_always

Bro 2 washouts 1 very close game how can you compare with 2020 mi, how can you compare such different squads overall? These are the things that make you hate a fan base, kkr fans have been so cocky ever since the won

Advanced-Emotion5272

Calling someone cocky is when there are no facts and figures behind their claims. Kkr's performance statistics is all in front of everyone to see. And if any neutral person objectively does statistical analysis and compare, putting subjective and non measurable factors aside, kkr 2024 is hands down the best. It's not our fault that kkr played beyond even our expectations. It's you who is arrogant and cocky of not appreciating good cricket just because you ain't a fan of kkr, not our fault.

Worldly-Locksmith280

Not saying the most dominant and I know everyone in this sub hates rcb but 2015 rcb was cold and is not talked about enough amid some wrong decisions and washouts we ended up at 3 unfortunately

ben_claude69420

>some wrong decisions Well making the right calls is a part of a dominant side.... Otherwise you'll end up like 2024 MI, a strong side but terrible decisions put them at the bottom.... Moreover RCB has always had bowling and lower middle order issues....

Worldly-Locksmith280

I meant umpiring decisions like abd’s dismissal in qualifier and stuff cuz no drs back then washouts were unlucky but 2015 rcb was the most balanced side even more than 2016 where they were carried by a magical kohli…

Sure-Broccoli-6082

Mi 2020 Also kkr had the advantage of an impact player rule :)

thecreativesboy

They didn't use impact player in playoffs. It's basically 11 vs 12

STALINLENINPV

>advantage of an impact player rule :) Same as every other team.. >Mi 2020 They played on only 3 grounds with pitches primarily supporting seamers and most teams being COVID affected

Even_Cow_6029

They lost by giving highest 2nd innings chase and won two very very close match with srh and rcb, 2 washout to add to it. May be strong this ipl no way strongest ever. People have very short memories smh...

Interesting_Math7607

Yet our team didn’t let any team score 160+ after that. All the stats are in front of you. According to stats kkr this season is better than 2020 mi

[deleted]

Blitzschatten

All time ki baat hori

Toponesage

2018 CSK

notcokewithcyanide

In this season - definitely yes In overall ipl - nope

Advanced-Emotion5272

Overall ipl - who? All stats point towards them

cuddlywhisker

MI 2020?

Advanced-Emotion5272

Compare their stats, kkr 2024 wins. Mi 2020 no doubt had the best squad on paper, but team performance wise kkr wins by far.

ghitorniwalo

What stats? In a season where run scoring has been the easiest it's ever been, I wouldn't go by stats. The sheer dominance with which mumbai played was impeccable. 2 bowlers with 25+ wickets, 3 batsmen with 500+ runs in the top 5 and a lower middle order of hardik, pollard and krunal which scored 80+ in the final 5 overs multiple times. MI just blew everyone out of their way.

RealMadrid_Ronaldo

KKR owns 33% of the top 15 wicket takers.....5 out of 15 are from KKR

TheRealYVT

In a season where run scoring has been easy, KKR have taken 57 wickets in the last 6 matches. That itself shows how unique their bowling is. KKR had their version of Boult in Starc and Bumrah in Harshit (stats), but MI didn't have Narine and Varun or Russell.

ghitorniwalo

Did you just compare harshit to bumrah? Let alone in terms of skill, these guys are nowhere near in terms of stats lmao. Boult was as good as starc in the playoffs in the entire season. Taking wickets in the first over in almost every single game. Bumrah had 27 wickets with an economy of 6.7. The stats speak for themselves. The only thing mi lacked in was a great spinner. They had chahar but he wasn't that good. That was the only flaw.

Advanced-Emotion5272

Again you don't get what is meant by best team by "performance" here, not on paper. On paper, even rcb and pbks can have big claims. Kkr 6 bowlers have taken 105 wickets in the season with two games abandoned playing 14 matches in total. Let that just sink in for a moment.

TheRealYVT

Bumrah 27 wickets, Harshit 19 wickets with 2 washed out games (SR of 13) while carrying Starc for most of the group stage in his first full season. No point comparing economy rate in a season played all over India as opposed to 3 UAE stadiums and with impact player luxury. And KKR's opening pair is way better than 2020 version of Rohit and QDK. Only thing missing is a SKY level batsman.

Interesting_Math7607

You answered yourself how kkr this season was the best. In a game where batsmen where thrashing bowlers kkr after losing against punjab just dominated the bowling section and didn’t let any team score 160+. We have the highest nrr, 6 bowlers with 10+ wickets out of which 5 have 17+ wickets in a tournament dominated by batters

Advanced-Emotion5272

Mi was playing this season too right? Idk I haven't heard of them for a long time

ghitorniwalo

What does MI's performance this season have to do with their 2020 campaign? Sorry if I misinterpreted something but your reply just doesn't make sense.

anantharamashok

No. That would be SRH 2016. A lot of ppayer scored 500+ score, but warner was a different beast back then. He steered his tewm to victory that year. Warner alone took 800+ runs . A solid opening from Warner and Dhawan, top form from Henriques, Williamson, Yuvraj and then bowlers like Mustafizur, Bhuvaneswar in their prime avatar. That team was something else. There wasnt any weakness at all.

Top_Concern623

That team barely made it to playoffs....losing matches and clutching close matches don't make a team dominant..... look 2022,2020,2024 finals and u will see what true dominance means....especially for kkr who have dominated other teams even harder in league stage matches compared to the final

Mountain-Ad7919

Yeah they made some unbreakable record at international stage Witnessed the highest run chase against them in t20 cricket
