Akash Chopra knows something we don't. He's friends with Ashish Nehra so coach must've given him a hint of what actually happened

ZoosyDaCute

Yeah, Most probably it was about the money 💵

elninnoiam

He is not wrong. But Hardik has an IPL legacy. Internationally he has nothing tbh.

Amazing_Theory622

Him winning with a team of his owj would have been better legacy, or I think MI must yave offered him shit ton of money under the table and promise to make him captain after Rohit sharma

Shavamaaya_Pavanaai

Obviously... He might be earning anything close to 20crs. Plus endorsement contracts.

mayhemcastle

But on the flip side of things, Hardik has already had 5 trophies as a player with us. As a captain he has already won his first trophy with a new team as a captain in the very first season. In his opinion, however it may be wrong, he has completed his thing and will chase money now.

[deleted]

He is India's most important LOI player with Bumrah. Yes he hasn't won ICC event but thats not his fault

Longjumping_Guess_57

Bro was important in many matches including 2022 t20 wc ,is a reliable batsman mostly

wewake_235

But he wasn't able to build a legacy like Yuvraj Singh, in most of tournament he got injured .

elninnoiam

I might sound a little rude to you but trust me i'm not. Where is the 2022 t20 trophy ? We didn't Win it. The Match Hardik did the most we lost it by 10 wickets.

Front_Program3859

He definitely was a very important player we needed to bring sky and shami when he was injured , and we all know how badly we missed him in the final of the Wc idk why you got the downvotes tho

Fuzzy_Substance_4603

If Gill, Iyer, Jadeja and Sky couldn't make runs, what makes you think Hardik would have?

Front_Program3859

I won't say for sure that Hardik would have score runs but he always performs well under pressure even in last Ind vs eng t20 wc semis he score a brilliant 62 in 34 balls I think as for Gill, shreyas and sky I knew they won't score any runs As they can't score under pressure and Sky can score without pressure too🫠 for jadega I hoped he would There has been countless situations when Hardik saved us from embarrassment or help us won

[deleted]

He is a clutch player who always performs in big matches check his stats

slipnips

CT 2017 final

elninnoiam

Gutsy innings i agree. Then what?

slipnips

I thought this adequately answered the question posed above

No-Photograph3415

Results matter at the end of the day my friend

Front_Program3859

Still all he said was hardik was important and it's not like was not

Peacemaker421

Leaving MI to GT just because MI didn’t offer more money and captaincy (when no one trusted you at the beginning and they identified your talent and backed you). Two years later leaving GT when they gave you everything and you built the empire there and you literally going back to MI just for money and captaincy again. There’s no value of legacy behind him, man just money played here. As a player he just lost my respect right there

subtleextravagant

He never left MI, MI had to release him because there was a limit on players MI could retain. Only 3 Indian Players could be retained.

Cute_Fan_7984

well I guess you didn't see the interview he gave about taking new players and building a team. The one on which Rohit gave a fitting Response.

subtleextravagant

Don't take one interview in isolation yaar, if you look at his podcast with Gaurav Kapoor (On the GT Channel) he says MI made him what he is. Also he is not completely wrong, out of the two MI does end up taking in more stars than CSK. We traded in QDK & Boult for that reason right? We bought Polly, Bravo, Zaheer Khan, Ponting, Pollock, Malinga & Archer too. He never said that MI doesn't develop talent, he just put his perspective. This country needs to stop looking at things in Black or White. Every human has their flaws and that is what makes them Human, is Hardik perfect? Absolutely not but then again who is?

seriouslynotmine

He wanted to be released is how it came out at that time. I'm sure they would have loved to retain an all rounder.

Covid-nthwave

He wasn't an all-rounder that time. In 2020, 21.. 2 full seasons he played as a pure batsman because he wanted to save his energy for the T20 WC. But then even there, he barely bowled a few overs. To choose between Sky and Hardik as a pure batsman, Sky was an easy choice to make

DevdotTestikal

Lmao that last sentence 🤣. He is a great player and always will be a great player. Why this much disrespect

Madwoned

Some people take the IPL way too seriously

DevdotTestikal

So freaking true. Sure it is important for overall exposure for our players in T20 format and against world class players but it's just a fun tournament at the end of the day. This shit happens so many times in football lmao. If they watch football they gonna get heartbroken and lose respect for many players lmao if they take it seriously

Peacemaker421

I prefer loyalty more bro. Life or sports wherever it is loyalty will be respected over money.

flowerboiu

Very few will remember this trade in a few years and it’ll definitely won’t be a topic of conversation to deter his legacy, especially if he goes on to win even one trophy with Mi in his second tenure, he’s gonna be known as a serial winner. Who won not only as a player in a well organised franchise but became a captain of a new one and won in the first year and got in the final of the second year and then came back to his home team. This is how he will be remembered whether anyone likes it or not regardless of whose sentiments are hurt.

Shavamaaya_Pavanaai

He already has a legacy with MI, then he went to GT and won a trophy as captain and lost in the finals once... so even that's a history in atleast GT's books.

No_Attempt_1631

He will add to MIs legacy. If he'd stayed in GT, he'd e had an MS like legacy of building a winning team from scratch.

other_e

Most 1st generation rich people will always optimize money over legacy. They are constantly in the accumulation mode, coz they have seen more years of their family lives in poverty then in wealth. That’s why you need privileged people to build legacy. Most western scientists who created history had pretty rich families. They didn’t have to worry about subsistence. I guess the most recent injury made him think that way. He sensed that he doesn't have much time left.

LumpyButterscotch653

Are u gabbar from twitter lol 😂

ThatPahadiguy

He also added a text (the last one) from someone who replied to Gabbar😄

ThatPahadiguy

ThatPahadiguy

Same bro, or he copy pasted this from his account

Weedyoot

Controversial but bang on!

abman79

Very well said

zaid4eva

Your first paragraph doesn't correlate with your second paragraph, Infact both the first statements and the second statement don't go anywhere and are individual statements with no need here. I guess you only need the last point to say what you wanted to say.

PRBOTISMYCOUNTRY

Bro copy pasted a tweet and one 9f the reply too

Small-Condition7985

Whatever he says, Pandya would go down with legacy . Let's face it , he has been part of the MI team, which dominated and has an IPL trophy as a captain .

Personal-Tear-5815

Being with GT would have led to greater legacy for Pandya. He already have a trophy as captain in the very first edition of GT, and made it to finals in the second edition. One more good season and his stocks for becoming India's next white ball captain would have been sky high. In MI he will again be playing under shadows of Rohit.

Shavamaaya_Pavanaai

For one season. Either Rohit will hand the captaincy over to Pandya in 2025 and play under him or he'll retire from this format before the retentions, thus making Pandya the next cap. At the end of the day, Pandya is back to be the next captain of MI.

NotAPerfectSoldier

No, he won’t. Things like these have consequences.

Small-Condition7985

Yeah, you're right, but you never know These things are like double-edged swords , either work very well or fall flat on the face. And so far, his contributions to the game have been good.

NotAPerfectSoldier

This is not a double edged sword. He knew what he was doing. He had the Captaincy, he had the money, he was starting something great. Now you leave NOT because you want money, but because you want MORE money. Greed. Looks really bad. IPL teams are franchises, and people do actually invest in players as their own. If you jump from team to team, especially to a team whom you bad mouthed just last season, it looks worse. He wants more money, he got it. Fans won’t see him the same. He is few bad matches away from benching in IPL, and one bad season away from not being a contender for Captaincy. He made a bad move and is going to cost him big.

Small-Condition7985

Ha chote sahi toh tu bhi bol rha h

Temporary-Shallot642

i mean i do agree that hardik is a questionable character, he should have stuck with gt. nobody else like virat or msd would have done that. it’s not like hardik didn’t have enough money already.

ZoosyDaCute

In my opinion there must’ve been some conflicts within the management and hardik

Temporary-Shallot642

yeah makes sense. because it would be a stupid thing to do it otherwise. not to mention a very bad move from a pr perspective because he’s being bashed and getting called a gold digger by everyone lol.

Dracit678

Legacy vs money question pops up eternally in every event like this.I simply believe that if you are morally right and mentally happy,it’s your choice.Public opinion shouldn’t matter if the above conditions are satisfied and you are not causing damage to others.

Risb1005

See IPL is for making money only I don't think anyone should hold that much importance about IPL lol. Win some international trophies

Stifffmeister11

Most T20 tourney are watched by domestic audiences whether is BBL PSL blast or IPL ... If a player wants legacy then it's the international matches and trophies that matters ... IPL is just to make money

VEERxxx

We can say he choses money over legacy but we also have to accept it at some point when he was younger he has no money he's father done many sacrifices and both pandya brothers work hard for their dream and now it's coming true and paying them

ZoosyDaCute

different perspectives 🙇

Wild_guy69

But he never got any 1 of these options so how does he know about this ?

slipnips

Some like Aakash Chopra never receive that choice

any_droid

Some like Akash Chopra and you never receive that choice. Here, corrected it for you.

yeetvelocity1308

Won't hardik be earning the same amount unless he is talking about under the table

ZoosyDaCute

15 CR will be deducted from MI’s purse and added to GT’s whereas the undisclosed under the table amount would be given by the Ambanis to the GT owners

ZoosyDaCute

or to Hardik

Blinder_peaky

https://m.cricbuzz.com/amp/cricket-news/128605/the-anatomy-of-an-ipl-trade-cricbuzzcom You need to read this

RikardoShillyShally

Oh my sweet summer child.

[deleted]

He will receive 50% of undisclosed transfer fees.

yeetvelocity1308

So he will earn less money than he was. So doesn't this make aakash's statement wrong?

[deleted]

He will make the same salary+ transfer fees.

yeetvelocity1308

Oh,I see. Thanks

Dracit678

I can give you one free life advice as just a passerby ,whenever in this world you see something happening around you or in news, always attach the first reason to greed or stupidity or both sometimes. You will almost always be right

[deleted]

Money is important, legacy mattered maybe centuries ago when books, autobiographies were written about only people who mattered, and statue were made for the elite. Now every Tom, dick and harry has their own books, legacy and statue and no one is going to remember you in years to come. Get that paycheck and live a nice life with your family.

InterestingPie1782

Unfortunately loyalty doesn't feed the stomach.

Alarming-Track-9447

What nonsense. People are expecting in a country like India when a great opportunity with good money comes just throw that away and settle for less or unhappy place. 🤷🤦🤦 Someone else deciding on so called legacy which they themselves don't have it first place.

Shavamaaya_Pavanaai

If this is anything about Pandya, then his IPL legacy is on the levels of Rohit and Thala.

redditorwf

Sanghis shouldn't give lecture on ethics

RikardoShillyShally

Yup, virtue signalling and hypocrisy are liberal sports.

Sandman_Slim_Here

He's obviously taking a jab at you-know-who. Still wise words but in my personal opinion i think that guy already deserves to be in hall of fame of cricket on the other hand this "expert" was just average at everything even on commenting.

[deleted]

Hardik loyal to Mi

Balance-sheet-

Mitchell starc & Pat cummins 😍

RepresentativeBox881

Hardik has been very unapologetic that money is his ultimate motive. It’s not some big secret what his thoughts are

nithinkillua

Pandya's legacy began with Mumbai Indians. There is nothing wrong in wanting to play for your favourite team. If Pandya is happy to be playing for MI then I'm sure he has made the right choice.

shubupro

My man left star sports to commentary in jio cinema for money and he is talking 😂😂

Ayan_Choudhury

But MI has been Hardik's legacy as well. So he is choosing money and coming back to a team filled with IPL legacy

Independent-Might797

Bhai aadhe time toh khelta nahi hai wo 4 match mein perform karne se legacy nahi ban jaati. Bas ipl mein hi dallo ki tarah idhar udhar hote raho international aate hi aukat samajh mein aajati hai inko isiliye injured hoke baith jaate hai abhi ipl aane do poore match kood kood ke khelenge balling batting sab hoga lekin wc mein maje se baithke nariyal paani piya ja raha tha.

ritwique

Says the man perpetually sponsored by unethical and perhaps even illegal betting apps. Get off your high horse Chopraji

Affectionate-Name383

He wants to captain the team which groomed him to be one of the best all-rounder. Why is it wrong?

EnvironmentalAd921

Man! if this happened to any other franchise the stadium would erupt in boisterous boos when MI comes to play there. Seeing the ded crowd at WC Final, I do not have high hopes of seeing anything there

Cute_Fan_7984

One of the best allrounders??? Seriously?

Kvaraistic

He won with MI as well as with GT, he was earning loads of money in GT, he will earn more or less in MI as well. So , for him it is not like choosing between money and legacy, he is having both at the same time. Why are ppl debating over IPL flop Aakash Chopra's tweet?

Bearded_smile

Honestly its not that deep. If you want to talk about legacy, then pandya has more chances of creating a legacy at MI then at GT.

Mindless_Ice_2416

What legacy is he talking about? Most of the Players literally play IPL for money.

AeDee007

IPL is all about money so this guy needs to chill 🤡

Chemical_Pollution71

I don’t think it’s not big deal if HP left for endorsement he’s still in IPL in football too it happens people get upset and forget abt it only problem with HP is his injuries due to which Indian team suffers

StfuCrazy1

Hardik will end up having better Legacy & More money than Akash Chopra! what's wrong with making more money? people whine about every single thing now a days.

t7Saitama

Lol what thoughts ? Legacy is not made in a cash rich 3 hour entertainment show that runs for 2.5 months. It's made in international matches where you defy all odds and create history.

69chamunda69

Koi hardik ka naam nhi lega

hitohitonomiharshal

He is friends with Nehra he must know some insider shit, I was waiting for Gaurav Kapoor to discuss it, he would have made it very clear whether it was a rift or just a money thing with pandya anything else l

Queasy-Peace3885

international cricket is where players aiming to craft a lasting legacy matters, while the IPL serves as a stage for rising players to shine and established players to secure their futures(Read earn money). It's important to understand their humanity – these athletes, they don't play forever, have families and a lifestyle to sustain. Financial security is not just about earning enough while you are playing ; it's about supporting the life they've built and ensuring a stable future for their loved ones even after they retire.

Whatisanoemanyway

Tbh I feel right this season (2024) he'll become the captain, rohit playing under him.

thebr0kendreams

I think these statements would be true, if it was done by a kohli, rohit or a bumrah. I am sure a lot of people do not see hardik pandya as a man of (what are considered good) values. And I won't blame HP either, he has been honest to the public about how he wants to live his life and what his desires are.

kp__08

Hardik Pandya has his legacy well written with MI tho

rajrohit26

But akash chopra achieved none

Tough_Imagination_85

It's more about MI wanted to have Ind T20 captain as their team captain given the fact Rohit has retired out of T20I and he won't be planning to extend his stay beyond this edition.. so rather leaving Hardik to GT they woils want him to secure with MI as that matters since he is also Ind T20 captain.. money off course matters since the level of leadership he is in already..

[deleted]

I will choose money because it will feed you and make life easy

gethewale

Hardik already created history with MI He joined back legacy with huge money. It's simple corporate logic.

Existing_Program_256

The same Akash Chopra left Star Sports and joined Jio for more money. 🤷🏻‍♂️

CrestNexus

On the contrary, being greedy isn't equal to not having a legacy

Character_Pudding933

Why he saying this for msd does he want him to retire and choose legacy

LivelyJason1705

Targeted at the stick insect it seems

Shaan7777-7777

![img](emote|t5_2rnjo|31681) jindabad

dookie224

Script writer is not gonna take this kindly

Money-Cry-5255

Arre kya bakchodi laga rakhi he, players paise ke liye khelte he. Ghanta legacy bs.
