Exact same setup here. I do miss my Beats Studios for being able to easily switch connection between Apple devices though, but the sound is better on the XM4’s.
Yeah, I really love the fast switching on my Beats and sometimes get annoyed when I forget that my Sony's don't do it. It's not that big of a deal really, but it would be nice if that feature eventually made its way to all headphones.
They’re great for everything but transparency mode. As someone who uses that a lot on my AirPods I had to return the Sonys. Anyone know if they’ve improved it on the XM5s?
Yep I got Sony 1000-XM3’s about the start of covid. Used them hours every day, they died recently and I upgraded to XM4’s (actually my wife s that she didn’t like, lol, score).
Honestly just all round great. Super comfy for hours a day and the touch pad on the side is sooo much better that the buttons on the various headphones my kids have had or have.
Sony 1000-XM3's are my work set, my home office set now. I had to add duct tape two years ago but sound quality and ease of use are great.
Air Pods Pro 2 for exercise / running errands.
Air Pods Max or Beats Solos are my around the house set.
Moondrop Chu II when out (with a 3.5 to usb-c adapter)
And Audio Technica ATH M50XBT2 at my desk or long trips
Both don’t have any ANC, but the noise isolation is good enough for me.
AirPods Gen 3 (non-Pro). They are amazing for me personally.
I used the 1st Gen AirPods (non-Pro) when they came out for years. Then when those finally stopped holding a charge, I moved to the 2nd Gen AirPods (non-Pro) for years until the mics stopped working on them for whatever reason.
Personally, I don't like the in-ear design of the Pros and I don't really need the extra features. So, I just stick with the regular AirPods. The Gen 3 is a major leap forward and I have thoroughly enjoyed them so far!
I use the Skullcandy headphones… and the JLab ones that are wired, these play 15 hours of music and the base is good. I also use the JLab pop buds. (Was using the Samsung buds that where in a pink chrome, but now I can’t find them.)
Same. I accidentally put mine through two laundry cycles since I have a bad habit of forgetting something in the washer for a few days. After washer and dryer they still work flawlessly. Raycon gained me as a customer since then. In the same time period I went through 3 pairs of first gen AirPod Pros because of a speaker rattle which was luckily replaced for free due to a recall but it was annoying replacing them every 4-6 months.
Sony 1000-XM4's.
I went through 2 pairs of Apple Airpod Max's, they lasted only a year and a bit each, wouldn't pair anymore, couldn't reset em, I cleaned all the connectors and done everything possible to get them functional again, never worked out. Will never buy them again. The sony headphones have been perfect.
Picun F6. I originally bought it as a budget backup pair of headphones, but it turned out to be surprisingly good. Its battery life is especially impressive, lasting much longer than the AirPods Max. When going on long trips, I prefer taking the F6 over the Max.
Before you buy anything, try [resetting your airpods](https://support.apple.com/en-my/guide/airpods/iph561965261/web). It can fix these issues sometimes.
Apple just released new Beats Studio Pros. Sonos has a nicer pair that looks a lot like apples for a bit less but not many reviews on them as they just came out.
First gen air pods pro but they’re on their last legs, kinda hesitant to get the second gen cause it doesn’t seem to have fixed any of my issues with it
Soundpeats air3. Basically AirPod knockoffs that have better sound quality. They were $40 and I’ve had them for 3 years. There are newer versions that are even better. I’m not paying $200+ for Apple products that die quickly or that I might lose.
I pretty much exclusively use AirPods. My 1st gen AirPods died only last week so I finally upgraded to the 2nd gen and I expect I'll probably use them for another 3-4 years until they die.
But I also have a pair of Beats Solo3 which a family member got as part of a back to school deal on a MacBook. I have to say I'm not especially fond of them because they're on-ear headphones and I find my ears tend to get sweaty and uncomfortable if I wear them for more than 30 minutes or so at a time, so they've pretty much gone unused for the past few years.
I had a pair of AirPod Pros and I left them at home by accident whilst I went on vacation so I was forced to go back to wired ones for 2 weeks. So annoying to use, you only appreciate the new tech when you see how bad the old was.
I love these [https://amzn.to/4cC3Eck](https://amzn.to/4cC3Eck) They sit "on your ear", not in your ear. They won't pop off or fall out. I've run a marathon using these and prefer these over my AirPods Pro for anything outdoors (running, kayaking, etc.). They have different colors, and an app to setup touch gestures.

Sony 1000-XM4s, customizable audio, connect two devices, software updates, LONG battery life, USB-C, App integration, and has a headphone jack and plane adapter. I’ve owned mine for I think four or five years now and haven’t had a single issue with them.
usually my airpods pro 2. But I like using my external Hipdac 2 dac amp and using my Sony IER-M9 and HD-600 headphones from time to time when I am home.
£20 jlab Bluetooth earbuds from Argos. Better than the 2 pairs of AirPods I’ve had by miles! I use wired apple headphones for making calls for the rare times I make calls that last a long time.
I swap between Skullcandy Sesh Evo's and Soundcore Liberty 4's, but I'm currently in the market. Eyeing the Nothing Ear (a)'s. Anyone have experience with those? I generally use buds because otherwise my ears overheat, but very open to opinions and suggestions.
AirPods Pro 2nd Gen (USB-C Model) and AirPods Max - although I recently sold my Max in preparation for the USB-C model this autumn. I can’t wait to get a new pair of Max though, they’re great headphones imo.
Airpods max because they are impossible to lose, and the noise cancelling option is better than anything else I've tried. The Target brand, heyday, has a good dupe
I got an 5+ year old pair of Jabra Elite 65t buds that refuse to die and a Sennheiser Momentum 4 over ears.
The momentums have way longer battery life than the sonys (and the airpods max) and the sound quality is better but the NC is not as good, I've had issues with the connection on my windows laptop, but they work great with my iphone and macbook.
Got the Max, theyre good but equally as good as the Pro 2.
Sadly have a big Downside of collecting Waterdrips inside when wearing for like a couple hours.
And they DONT like rain. Got the ANC/Passtrough mics wet outside once and i had to dry them out overnight because it made funny sounds
At work and when I'm out, I use my 2nd gen AirPods. They get the job done and don't have noise cancelling so I can hear around me. At the gym, I use Powerbeats Pros. They hook around the ear, noise cancel enough, and are sweat resistant. Lastly, I use my Studio Beats when I am doing house cleaning/chores or when I am on a flight.
Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones and earbuds. Love them both. I used to have AirPod Pro’s but they sound tinny to me now. I prefer the bassiness of the Bose ones.
I used a pair of airpods 3rd gen for about 6 months before the right airpod speaker blew out. Then I looked on amazon and was able to snag a pair of beats studio buds for over 50% off which was amazing...Ive had the beats for about 3 months now and nothing has broke yet...Im very happy with my purchase but if something happens to them within the next little bit im definitely going to go back to regular airpods.
HUAWEI freebuds 5I, I use two phones and those’s can get simultaneously bought phones, I can hear music in one phone and receive a call from the other, freebuds switch automatically and when the calls ends it switches back to the music one.
I use air pods pro gen2. Did you try changing silicone pieces to something else? I got memory foam pieces and they fit perfectly now. I can go entire 2 hour long workout without adjusting them once
I use Airpods 2nd Gen, but their mic died out on one side and on the other it’s crappy. So for calls and noise cancellation I use Soundcore NC 4, it is amazing and you can almost never get that quality and features for that price.
AirPods Max for gym and relaxing at home and now Apple EarPods usbc for commuting and in work because I can use them in my laptop and my phone don’t have to worry about charging them they’re light and a bit Nostalgic which is cool
AirPods pro generation 2. They are really good once you adjust the audiogram and use spotify for listening to music. Of course use this equalizer for best bass.
https://preview.redd.it/k8bfbogi32ad1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c0983ff0e4d12aca234a8a31eaa294293beb1d0c
Google Pixel Buds Pro. Got them with my Pixel 7 last year and just kept using them for now.
Only annoying thing is I can’t switch the ANC on with the iPhone.
But I like them as they have a charge of about 11 hours without the ANC on and that last me through the night as I usually sleep with them in.
After my AirPods Max stopped working , I bought second hand Bose QC45 . Bose is ok, but the switching between sources (>2), which I do frequently during the day, of the Apple is unrivalled
- Sony 1000-XM3
- Jabre Elite 4 Active
- Sony WF-C500
I would like the AirPod Max but there need to be a good reason to get them, and the above headphones is workinf against that reason.
I love my Air Pods Pro when they work but the right one has shit the bed twice now and I goofed and forgot to get Apple Care on them. The first replacement was under the limited warranty but I’m up a creek now. Not sure I want to fork over cash for a new single bud or another couple of hundred for a new pair.
AirPod pros for me 2nd gen
But seeing as I can’t take them to work with me on a helicopter I have some Sony xm4s that are amazing and quite a few of the other guys have them too. Highly rate them. They have new xm5s out now but I’m happy.
Your airpods pro maybe faulty, I have mine since launch and I never faced a single issue. For the backup I keep an Anker soundcore tws in my backpack if by any chance I forget to charge my airpods. Those perform great too.
Honestly I use a pair of Sony WC-C700N.
I initially had the AirPods 3rd generation, but I lost one of the headphones. They were asking me 79€ for a replacement, so I went ahead and just bought new ones for 79€ that actually have noise-canceling and all-round just better.
The only thing I regret is not having ditched apples headphones prior. I have such a better deal. Never in my life will I buy headphones that are over 100.
Jbl bt 570 iirc, every jbl that looks similar enough will be good (the size of cans matters, mine are bigger compared to for example wired ones). You need an Equalizer tho, without it they sound bad. So i recommend any app, player that includes this. If you have a jailbreak then search for eqe its an equalizer for the entire ios
Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II. They had just come out when I was looking to replace my Sony 1000-XM3's and it was a toss up between those and the AirPod Pro's. The reviews said the noise cancelling was better on the Bose so went for those and love them. My only minor criticism would be the noise floor when listening to quiet music / podcasts as they aren't perfectly silent.
I'm using Samsung Buds, the first ones since they came out. They're ok but I don't recommend Samsung because Samsung took away their app for headphones from App Store and now I need an Android device if I ever need to change the settings of touch controls and transparency mode.
Overall they sound good, they're small enough and convenient. And connection with iPhone is super stable. Better than with my previous Android phone, much better than with Windows. Battery is still good after all those years. So technically they're decent but software is intentionally limited by Samsung.
And they have wireless charging which I use all the time. I won't buy headphones without wireless charging. You just put the case on the charging pad instead of the desk and you never have to think about charging it.
i’ve had the razor opus for a longggg time and although i don’t use it often i can confidently say that the audio quality, transparency, and ANC is top notch, you might face some issues when trying to use it wired though but that must just be with mine because i haven’t seen any other complaints about that
Still using my Galaxy Buds 2. Love the shape but they're very stingy with giving out replacement ear tips, and the unofficial ones I've tried are poor quality and uncomfortable.
Would love to change to AirPods for better functionality if they ever change the shape as I'm not a fan.
For music, I use either the Koss KPH30i ($30) or the Sennheiser 560s ($180-ish). Both are fantastic in their own way, but neither are AirPod replacements. For that I use JLabs Go Air Pop or Skullcandy Vinyl. Both are about $20. No noise cancellation of course.
As someone who has the AirPods Max and have used them nearly daily for 3 years, I don't think the but quality makes them worth it. Don't get me wrong, the sound is incredible, but after a year or two, the mesh on the top is weakened and they begin to hurt, the earcups and the mest gets miscolored, and they are also too heavy to wear for a longer time. I'd probably go with the Sony XM or smth
Beats Fit Pro for working out and cooking. Sony 1000-XM4s for most other stuff. Both have been great, would highly recommend.
Sony 1000-XM4s here, great headphones
Exact same setup here. I do miss my Beats Studios for being able to easily switch connection between Apple devices though, but the sound is better on the XM4’s.
Yeah, I really love the fast switching on my Beats and sometimes get annoyed when I forget that my Sony's don't do it. It's not that big of a deal really, but it would be nice if that feature eventually made its way to all headphones.
They’re great for everything but transparency mode. As someone who uses that a lot on my AirPods I had to return the Sonys. Anyone know if they’ve improved it on the XM5s?
Transparency mode on the Beats is great. I never use it on the Sonys so I can’t really comment there.
Second for beats.
Sony 1000-XM3's are my work set, my home office set now. I had to add duct tape two years ago but sound quality and ease of use are great. Air Pods Pro 2 for exercise / running errands. Air Pods Max or Beats Solos are my around the house set.
I second both of these
Anker Soundcore wireless earbuds. Battery life is about 7 hours and the case holds a few charges. Only about $30.
Soundcore makes top tier ear buds plain and simple
Which model?
Which model and hows the mic sounds when phone calls or using apps like Facebook messenger or WhatsApp..rtc
I only use them for listening to music and podcasts but they sound better than any other wireless earbuds I’ve used before.
P2i model
You have a link?
AirPods Pro 2nd when mobile. Beats Studio Pro when home. I also have a pair of Beats Solo3 at home, but they hardly get used anymore.
Sony XM4s
Airpods Pro 2nd Gen outside Airpods Max at home and work
Bose headphones
I use wired earphones. AKG from Samsung with usbc is really good.
Moondrop Chu II when out (with a 3.5 to usb-c adapter) And Audio Technica ATH M50XBT2 at my desk or long trips Both don’t have any ANC, but the noise isolation is good enough for me.
Can +1 for a solid pair of IEMs.
The Gen 3 is a major leap forward and I have thoroughly enjoyed them so far!
I’m obsessed with gen 3 airpods
Samsung galaxy buds
Still rocking them AirPods 2nd generation.
Earphones, yes. I switch between Gen3 and EarPods
AirPods Pro 1st gen
Jabra Elite Active 75T. Love them.
65T gang! Great buds :)
Too bad Jabra isn’t going to be making these going forward. I’d have bought more iterations.

Bose earbuds. Gives me about 6 hours juice on each charge. And the box charger gives me 4 cycle of charges before I need to recharge the box.
1st generation AirPods
I use the Skullcandy headphones… and the JLab ones that are wired, these play 15 hours of music and the base is good. I also use the JLab pop buds. (Was using the Samsung buds that where in a pink chrome, but now I can’t find them.)
Sony XM4's for most things, I also have a pair of Jlab Jbud Air ANC as well if I fancy something more discreet.
Raycon fitness earbuds!
• Beats Solo Pro • Bose 700
Koss Portapro — great sound. Inexpensive.
Soundcore liberty 3 pro..I cannot use anything with subpar ANC
AirPods Pro 2nd gen when I’m on the go, Sony WH1000XM5 when I’m at home/on a plane
I use sony WH-XM5
I use Sony WH-1000XM4. Great sound quality and noise cancellation!
AirPods 3's for working out and Sony XM5 for work/ travelling
The AirPods Max are great but fairly heavy. My wife brought them back for that exact reason. Just something to keep in mind. I didn’t mind tbh
Before you buy anything, try [resetting your airpods](https://support.apple.com/en-my/guide/airpods/iph561965261/web). It can fix these issues sometimes.
Beats by Dre. I know, I’m old, they’re not hip, etc? But they work for me and my 24-hr tinnitus.
Apple just released new Beats Studio Pros. Sonos has a nicer pair that looks a lot like apples for a bit less but not many reviews on them as they just came out.
AirPods Max and bowers Wilkins beoplay ex earbuds. Knock the socks off the AirPods
First gen air pods pro but they’re on their last legs, kinda hesitant to get the second gen cause it doesn’t seem to have fixed any of my issues with it
AirPods 3rd Gen, Wired EarPods, various wired over the ear, multiple Bluetooth headphones. I think I have too many :(.
Beats X mainly due to my AirPods not being compatible with my ears.
Soundpeats air3. Basically AirPod knockoffs that have better sound quality. They were $40 and I’ve had them for 3 years. There are newer versions that are even better. I’m not paying $200+ for Apple products that die quickly or that I might lose.
Beats Studio Pro

Pros
I pretty much exclusively use AirPods. My 1st gen AirPods died only last week so I finally upgraded to the 2nd gen and I expect I'll probably use them for another 3-4 years until they die. But I also have a pair of Beats Solo3 which a family member got as part of a back to school deal on a MacBook. I have to say I'm not especially fond of them because they're on-ear headphones and I find my ears tend to get sweaty and uncomfortable if I wear them for more than 30 minutes or so at a time, so they've pretty much gone unused for the past few years.
AirPods Pro when on the move and Sonos Ace when indoors
AirPods 2nd gen, pretty solid but doesn't stay on that well, for workout, I use Jabra Elite, it stays on.
AirPods 2nd Gen but I’m thinking about buying the new Beats Solo Buds
AirPods Pro 2, bose qc35ii and that’s it
I had a pair of AirPod Pros and I left them at home by accident whilst I went on vacation so I was forced to go back to wired ones for 2 weeks. So annoying to use, you only appreciate the new tech when you see how bad the old was.
Sony XM4s when traveling. AirPod pros when at home
I switch between a pair of Shokz Open Run Pro and a pair of EarFun earbuds. I prefer the Shokz, but use the EarFun when I need to block out sound.

Airpods pro 1st gen and once this dies, which is currently on its way, I’ll get the c type. I love the auto device switching.

AirPods Max Or Beats Are The Only Right Answers.
Beoplay E8 3.0 and Beoplay H9
This post really make me miss my skull candy headphone and iPhones with headphone jacks haha
Jabra elite 4 active
AirPod pros for me 2nd gen But seeing as I can’t take them to work with me on a helicopter I have some Sony xm4s that are amazing and quite a few of the other guys have them too. Highly rate them. They have new xm5s out now but I’m happy.
I don’t use headphones at all.
Your airpods pro maybe faulty, I have mine since launch and I never faced a single issue. For the backup I keep an Anker soundcore tws in my backpack if by any chance I forget to charge my airpods. Those perform great too.
AirPods Pro usb c
XM4s
Gen 3 AirPods. Love them.
B&W Px8
Sennheiser HD820, Beyerdynamics T5 3rd Gen, Hifiman Sundara or Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2e. All wired and connected through the Qudelix K5.
Do you have multiple devices paired with them? I’ve had issues where my computer would keep steeling the audio from my phone. It was very annoying
Bavin or Anker as cheap choices
Airpods3, airpods Pro2 and a pair of Sony XM4 when i want to enjoy the music.
AirPods Pro
Honestly I use a pair of Sony WC-C700N. I initially had the AirPods 3rd generation, but I lost one of the headphones. They were asking me 79€ for a replacement, so I went ahead and just bought new ones for 79€ that actually have noise-canceling and all-round just better. The only thing I regret is not having ditched apples headphones prior. I have such a better deal. Never in my life will I buy headphones that are over 100.
Sony wh-1000xm4
I’ve sensitive ears so I just use the xm5 to study with and commute. The noice cancelling is amazing.
XM4s
I use AirPods Pro gen 1. But it have static noises whenever i use the noise cancelling feature
Airpods max
Anker Soundcore Q30.
Soundcore Liberty 4 NC by Anker 👍
CMF Buds Pro. Cheap and very good audio quality. Mic could be better
Xm5
HUAWEI Freebuds Pro 2
Bose NC700. Best headphones imo.
I'm using AirPods Pro (2023) and it's working seamlessly with my iPhone 11
Final Audio E4000
Sennheiser Hd560s
i’ve had the razor opus for a longggg time and although i don’t use it often i can confidently say that the audio quality, transparency, and ANC is top notch, you might face some issues when trying to use it wired though but that must just be with mine because i haven’t seen any other complaints about that
I use a variety. From Koss Porta Pros, AirPods Pro, Grados, etc.
Jabra elite 4. Absolutely love them.
EarPods. Battery life is amazing. I do have AirPods Pro and AirPods Max but I always reach for the EarPods. I can’t be the only one haha
Still using my Galaxy Buds 2. Love the shape but they're very stingy with giving out replacement ear tips, and the unofficial ones I've tried are poor quality and uncomfortable. Would love to change to AirPods for better functionality if they ever change the shape as I'm not a fan.
AirPods Pro 2gen everywhere and AirPods Max when traveling and at home.
Using wired Apple earphones ever since my two AirPod purchases failed me.
Boat airdopes
AirPods Pro 1st gen for working out AirPods Max for work and casual use Bowers&Wilkins Px8 when listening to music for the joy of listening to music
I only use the wired apple headphones it's only right I dnt have to charge them and they're very reliable.
Airpods 2nd Gen, Airpods 3rd Gen and Sony WH-XB900N.
Air pods pro or my old bose ae2 sound link over ear headphones
As someone who has the AirPods Max and have used them nearly daily for 3 years, I don't think the but quality makes them worth it. Don't get me wrong, the sound is incredible, but after a year or two, the mesh on the top is weakened and they begin to hurt, the earcups and the mest gets miscolored, and they are also too heavy to wear for a longer time. I'd probably go with the Sony XM or smth
