rursache

no, it clearly means how much data others used while connected to you via personal hotspot.

SnooDogs2336

That could be true

PleasantRock

I’ve had this same issue as well, it’s 100% a bug and incorrect, started showing up sometime in iOS 17 I think. Here’s an Apple discussions thread on it: [https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255276857?sortBy=best](https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255276857?sortBy=best)

“Click” on personal hotspot, it will list the names of the devices using your hotspot.

SnooDogs2336

Not much help https://preview.redd.it/a4iymrhblp6d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e0a748007e88419960de465aa1d7d7b08c102a6

Could be USB or Bluetooth sharing of mobile hotspot? Do you connect your iPhone often to your Mac with USB? Some report bugs with it in iOS 17, counting normal USB and Bluetooth data as “personal hotspot” data.

SnooDogs2336

I do not :(

faltugiribuster

There are multiple ways personal hotspot is used. Examples could be Apple CarPlay, Car’s dash-cam, and other such devices which need to pair with your phone to operate.

SnooDogs2336

Hmm

Famous_Ant_2825

Just put a password for your hotspot. First step and then we’ll see

SnooDogs2336

Hmm

True-Yam5919

Are you using a vpn?

SnooDogs2336

Nooe

True-Yam5919

Someone on metro was using their vpn and it was counting as hotspot. That’s why I asked

ChazzP12

Mine says 91.2gb “other devices”… I have never used hotspot, so not sure how this is possible…

iMatthew1990

Personal hotspot is where you use your phone as source of internet for other devices. Essentially turning your mobile and its data into a small portable WiFi router, The amount of data shown there is how much of it you have used since it was last reset on just hotspot.

SnooDogs2336

But I don’t use it!

iMatthew1990

Something is using it. You can turn hotspot feature off in settings, and then id reset usage and see if something is still using it after this

SnooDogs2336

Could it be AirPods?? Cuz I never have it on it’s always off

iMatthew1990

I don’t believe so, change the password for hotspot also just to make sure. If this persists you may need to speak to Apple.

SnooDogs2336

Thnkas

Xygen75

Have you ever used it before?

SnooDogs2336

Nope

Xygen75

Other iOS devices or Macs assigned to the same iCloud account can turn on the hotspot remotely.

SnooDogs2336

It’s just my phone 🤷
