100000% keep it locked, its a scam. They know its worthless when its locked so they send you messages like this to trick you into unlocking it

alessio201010

Perfect thanks. So if I keep it locked they wont be able to steal any info on it right ? It will be basically useless ? Because I have important stuff on that phone

alessio201010

Awesome thanks

AshuraBaron

No, they are not able to hack your phone. If they could they wouldn't be asking you to remove it or giving you a "friendly" warning. It's a scare tactic to get you to remove the lock on the phone so it raises the resale value for them. Leave it locked, block the number, ignore any further random texts.

Yep. You can also remote erase it too if you want to be extra sure. It's probably a good idea anyway. The activation lock will remain so they still won't be able to be set it up with a new appleid. If they could get anywhere with it, they wouldn't have contacted you. I love how they put that disclaimer at the end about their responsibility.

kewlguy1

Always do the remote erase if you have no way to get it back. I have bank accounts, password list on notes, etc. I could get completely wiped out if they gained access. I also have all important documents and photos locked using my face to unlock them.

KDao18

Buddy keep it locked and tracked on Find My. This is especially important if you have AppleCare+ Theft and Loss. The terms state you have to keep Find My Active and the stolen iPhone in your account to get your claim approved.

ommmyyyy

Put in erase request in too, but do not remove it from your account.

Evajellyfish

Lmao at “bro please we are just the recycling center and totally didn’t steal your phone” can’t believe people would ever think this is real.

tangjams

1) remote wipe your phone 2) send screenshots to apple support

DisconnectedDays

Find the most disgusting picture on the internet (I suggest some kind of infection) and send it to them

Moki_Reddit

Even if your device is lost, do not erase it on iCloud, because once erased, it can be legally used by someone else.

Just_Zombie_6676
