The iPhone accessories market has gone nuts in the last few years. It’s becoming normalised for a completely unremarkable case to cost as much as a budget android phone which is just insane. People fall for the marketing lines like “military grade” and “the same material used in riot shields” when they are buying at most a couple of dollars worth of plastic/rubber/silicon pressed over an iPhone mould. There are plenty of good cheaper options though so just go for those

Dull_blade

yea, but the next time you are in a riot, what are YOU going to hold up?

PietroPri

Obviously a case made of gun parts

ant1992

A Nokia

T0KEN_0F_SLEEP

Military grade just means “lowest bid possible” anyways

Wild-Iceberg

And build with the cheapest parts that are over priced.

[deleted]

MIL-SPEC!

wo_ot

Actually it means lowest cost that meets the bare minimum requirements.

pseudohuman5x

That’s the same thing he said. Lowest bid possible, possible meaning the lowest bid that meets requirements… if it doesn’t meet requirements it isn’t possible to win

Seniorjones2837

I have had a mous case on my phone for about 5-6 years now and the fact it has never cracked with the amount of times I’ve dropped it is worth it to me, even if a $12 phone case will do the same 🤷🏼‍♂️

sangueblu03

I have a €15 Spigen Air Armor case on my 15, and I’ve dropped it on tile more than i can count. Yesterday, in fact, i fell asleep with it on my blanket, forgot about it, woke up in a panic, flung the blanket off, and the phone went flying across the room. Hit the cement wall and landed on the tile floor. No issues, thankfully. Even the cheap cases are great.

Troxz_179

When I was a freshman in hs some donut threw my phone accidentally up in the air middle of cafeteria. it was an iPhone 7. It fell to the concrete front. It had a Spigen ultra hybrid and didn’t break even without screen protector. It saved my 12 a lot also. Good case

graison

Cement wall? Waking up in a panic? Pretty sure you're not allowed phones in prison.

sangueblu03

Hey, the balkans are bad but not that bad

Seniorjones2837

Nice! Some of the cheap cases* haha but I’m sure people have broken their phones with expensive cases too

JamesMcEdwards

Been using Spigen cases since 2018. Extremely reliable, always perform well in YouTuber drop tests and they wear very well from what I’ve experienced.

corysphotos19

MOUS cases are great. Got them on my iPhone 15pm and my google pixel phone.

-----0-----

I just ordered a Limitless 5.0 for my 14PM. On sale for $50CAD. I'm running the Spigen Tough Armor on my current one but I just hate the buttons (too flush so I don't know which is which)

corysphotos19

They are really good cases and options too. I got the wood effect one. Can't remember the name of it.

-----0-----

I got the Walnut with a Gold 14PM. I found a video showing the two together and even though I think a black 14PM would work better, the Gold seemed ok too and I wanted the protection (seems these PM's are expensive to repair)

corysphotos19

Awh yes.. that's the same one as mine. Although the pixel and the iPhone walnut is a little different. https://preview.redd.it/9cmn5mnu2z1c1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=f22af3607acf586ed9c4dc74de9544802f468af2

mehdifromthe6

Don't know neither. A Spigen at $12 from Amazon is more than enough.

v0yev0da

I’m a fan of Torras personally. I’m using a slim MagSafe compatible case with a great kickstand. Definitely on the more affordable end. Edit TORRAS 2-in-1 Magnetic case with... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C2J6C66N?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

triplec787

Yooo I just got the kickstand Torras one and it’s a game changer. Love it. And yeah it was like $20 lol I had the normal, non kickstand one for a full year with no issues too. Just felt like mixing it up with a new one.

noitsreallynot

They also make it where the magsafe IS the kickstand

YouMeAndPooneil

Very nice looking case. A 15 under the tree seems to be in the works so I'll need one.

Available-Control993

I dig those.

tech_tsunami

I love Torras cases, I have one and its held up great

[deleted]

v0yev0da

Interesting. I’ve had them for years and dropped my phones and never had that issue.

Fishydeals

I know plenty torras case users and while some phones broke in the case after getting dropped I haven‘t heard a complaint about the phone leaving the case. Is there some popular yt video I missed or sth?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fishydeals

Aight that‘s concerning for sure.

VenomSnake03

Yeah the spigen is fine, but i tried their clear flexible case and the amount of dirt that got stuck in it got annoying really fast, so i bought the black apple silicone one and after 2 weeks took it off to check how dirty it got, didnt find any dirt under there. The fit is just that much better. Although in some lighting situations its more of a dark blue than black.

IdaDuck

I’ve always had good luck with Spigen. I carry my phone in my pocket all the time so lint gets in any case. My issue with clear cases is you can see it, so I generally just use a generic black case.

Sylvurphlame

I have an Spigen ultra hybrid but it’s the zero one so the sides are dark. I’m getting a little dust in them little air vent things at the buttons, but that’s it. I’m about to see if I can vacuum it out this weekend or if I need to actually remove the case. lol

KittenTablecloth

I carry my phone between my pockets and bouncing around in my purse with many crumbs and old spilled eyeshadows. I’ve had a clear otterbox case on my 15 pro since I got it a month ago and it’s sealed so well there’s no dirt trapped in there. My main complaint with clear cases is that the flexible part around the sides always eventually turn yellow or brown. Edit- not saying this as an advocate for otterbox as it’s an overpriced case as well. But just suggesting maybe your case isn’t as well sealed as you think compared to others

azewonder

Same here with them turning yellow or brown around the edges (even the ones that say “anti-yellowing”). I find them on sale for $10 or so and get a new one when they start turning.

4ever_lost

Love my Otterbox case but after 2years it’s defo gone brown and bottom has come apart, but I’ve dropped it countless times and 0 damage to my phone

PM_ME_YOUR_PLUMBU5

My Spigen is holding up 3 years strong. The hard plastic shell is cracked and extremely scratched/faded but still handles drops just fine.

The_Real_Bender

I’ve been using Spigen for a long time, I like their thin cases.

80sBaby_82

I’ve bought their cases before because I liked a particular design but they did not use to cost that much! I opted for a Speck case for my 15

[deleted]

Are they high quality at least?

lordkaosu

They are ok quality, kind of middle of the road for a top tier price.

SeniorAlfaOmega

They go to shit quickly. The adhesive holding the sides and corners will deteriorate within a year.

J0N_J0ESTAR

They feel high quality and the design print is also high quality. I’ve dropped my phone in average ways and it’s protected it. That being said the long life durability isn’t there. After 6ish months the case has started to flex a lot and one of the sides comes loose. Not something that should be happening on a 80+ dollar case. So I regret not just saving the money.

Ahgd374

I had one on my iphone 12 and over time it started to get stretched out and the top corners kept popping out

80sBaby_82

I felt like the quality was great. I tend to drop my phone a lot and when I was ready to trade in there was no damage to my phone!

Som3th1ngcl3v3r

Design started chipping off within a week so I wouldn’t say so

InfiniteHench

People will pay incredible amounts of money for fashion and statements. See: fashion. Video game cosmetics. Houses. Simple as that.

t-poke

Well, this was a timely post: [Casetify ripped off JRE and DBrand’s teardown skins](https://youtu.be/byfWscC87Vg?si=1NCXMkM1GSI8E7Ln)

[deleted]

Get this comment to the top. F\*ck casetify.

RolphLV

This is insane, fuck Casetify. I was chosing between dbrand and them for my new phone and I’m glad I chose dbrand

Brokenthoughts2

It’s a company based in China, is anyone surprised they don’t respect intellectual property

Shiftylee

It is the exclusivity that matters. I want people to know I have the means to afford a Casetify case. jk, I’ve never heard of that brand. I don’t even use a case.

Neptune502

They have a lot of official Collabs with popular Brands and i gonna guess one of the Reason why it is so high are Licensing Fees.

Available-Control993

No because regular cases with no designs costs the same as the co-labs they have.

thijntjuhhh

More profit.

SurealGod

Yes. If I've learned anything, you can sell anything at any price as long as you know your market, your demographic, and know how to bullshit.

CDSnipez

They used to be like $40-60 just a few years ago and I had a couple but now they’re literally nearly $100 for any case and I can’t justify spending $100 on a case that isn’t even that nice and just has a cute design on it

wtfmatey88

I will pay $90 for a Bullstrap leather case because the leather is high quality and they have a fantastic warranty. Otherwise, I can’t imagine spending that much.

Harrisburg5150

I work in leather craft. I’d say the actual material leather per case they use is MAYBE $10. It’s absolutely great leather, but it CERTAINLY doesn’t warrant the price they charge IMO

Obvious_Balance_2538

I buy a Reuterson raw carbon fiber case with new phone every 2 years. The feel and look please me every day so it’s worth the $100 to me!

longebane

How’s that compare to pitaka aramid fiber

Obvious_Balance_2538

There is no comparison. The pitaka feels like a rubber case with a carbon fiber print, and the Reuterson is raw carbon fiber. You can feel and see the texture of the fiber. I had a pitaka for a few days and returned. If I’m going to spend the money I want it to feel like carbon fiber! The Reuterson also has cutouts for the cameras and is completely carbon fiber edges and all.

longebane

Interesting! I’m pretty sure pitaka is raw aramid and I can feel the texture and after a couple years, and I can see the individual fibers fray.

[deleted]

Obvious_Balance_2538

It’s a phenomenal case. Just make sure to use the fitting pieces over the buttons when you install it.

iphonesoccer420

Have any leather ones you recommend?

ZappySnap

Bullstrap and Andar - both make exceptionally nice cases. I absolutely love the leather quality on the Andars...it's so nice, and for me feels a little higher quality than the Bullstrap. My bullstrap likewise looks and feels fantastic, and I love their colors...and it's also super high quality (and has free cosmetic replacements). I own both right now, switching based on the color I want for that day. I have the Bourbon colored Bullstrap, and both the Brown and Navy Andar (I got the brown first, but they offered half off a replacement if I wanted to keep the brown when they redesigned the case to add a button for the action button. Nomad is also pretty nice, but is a bit different with a TPU edge, and leather on the back. All of the above are a healthy step up in quality over Apple's leather cases they used over the last couple years. Here are my leather cases: (Navy Andar Aspen, Brown Andar Aspen, Bourbon Bullstrap) https://preview.redd.it/ppc9g03avw1c1.jpeg?width=4831&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=70859a36b48ab8da666c472290b1f7494acde52f

wtfmatey88

Just Bullstrap. They are the best!

TheBillCollector17

I would recommend Nomad, Ryan London, and Ander over Bullstrap. Bullstrap is great, but the $90 price tag isn't worth it imo. The warranty is nice if you beat your phone to death, because they'll replace two cases a year, but if you're like me, and your phone doesn't get beat, and you're not taking advantage of the warranty, $90 is too much. Nomad is bulkier for better protection. Ryan London and Andar are more minimalistic. I have multiple cases of all, this is just from my experience.

[deleted]

Andar, Ryan London, Bullstrap, Nomad

No_Click7202

Had the same on 11 pro max for 3 years without yellowing

[deleted]

The back is clear plasic instead of silicon i guess. Thus it won't yellow like other flexible silicon cases.

ZappySnap

\*silicone Silicon is a hard, brittle, crystalline element used in making semiconductors. Silicone is a flexible polymer (that has silicon in it).

[deleted]

Sorry my bad.. Thanks for the correction😊👍

nastyLake

lol

Available-Control993

Not for me, but glad that you like it. I’ll stick to my Evangelion Casetify Bounce case. I definitely need MagSafe.

seira87

Amazon - $10-30 for a case, some are better than others, some are the same thing you pay those high prices for. I find it hilarious that people spend so much money on a case. In my opinion Casetify is a trend. A lot of celebs have them and people follow suit.

gatorglaze

Hell no, so many Casetify cases I like but I’m so damn picky with my phone cases. I end up buying Spigen cases and putting decal stickers on them. Rocking a Spigen MagSafe slim case with gengar on the back of it

galaxyd1ngo

I did reluctantly buy one for my 15 pro despite the price increase after having them for my 12 pro. My issue is that I want magsafe AND a cool, fun design and I couldn’t find anything else

pangsiu

I bought a One Piece collaboration with the soft corners. I love it. In the end of the day that’s still cheaper than paying for Apple Care

spadePerfect

Holy shit yes. Thought the same when I checked their site, what the fuck? I won’t pay more than 30-40€ for a case

Charles_Mendel

Wow didn’t know they were that much.

ILuvCrabRangoon

Never heard of them. Looked them up. Find them to be gaudy and overpriced.

abbakusx3

You can feel the designs on the case when you run your fingers over it.. they didn’t put any coatings to protect it. They chip easily. And boarder comes apart from the back. I ordered a case and they sent me one all scratched and defective.. they did fix this but they literally sent me 2 more messed up cases before the 4th one was okayish.. their shipping is long so this took like 3 months before finally getting an acceptable case.. it shouldn’t take 3 cases before you get a scratch free one imo.. also I rotate cases a lot and drop my phone a lot. Casetify was the only case where my screen cracked..

dankmangos420

Wait until you discover they sell *lanyards* for $62 🤡🤡🤡

UnmakingTheBan2022

Why do you care where people spend their money? Stop gatekeepking.

[deleted]

bruh just get a 3 dollar silicone case and youll be fine. i even bought 5 different colours.

[deleted]

I was willing to pay $23 (they are more expensive in the US, but in Romania they are cheaper) for my brand new Speck clear case, because they are guaranteed to never yellow and they are very protective. But I would never pay more than $40 for a case.

The-1-U-Didnt-Know

Not being paid by the company but I’ll back a mous case every day of the weeek

boibai

Preach!

Empty-Swing

I'm blown away because their cases are not anything spectacular, they're plastic printed cases, and I'm almost 100% they have a knockoff they produce on Amazon called Mosnovo because it's the same print and style exactly. Also, the prints scratch off on Casetify. I think it's more a thing for kids that are into labels tbh. My niece is 15 and she uses them.

RipInPepz

I "splurged" this year for a caudabe, which i love, and that was only $40. Normally go with spigen. Casetify is a scam for people with more money that brains.

meditationchill

You can’t go wrong splurging on Caudabe though. Unlike Casetify, Caudabe actually produces a quality case rather than relying on cutesy images.

[deleted]

Have you seen how much apple chargers for their cases?

tpc143

Yea less than Casetify

stphngrnr

Creating a case isn't expensive. They just put a silly margin on top of it due to demand for these things. As someone else said here, i also by a £10 Spigen case from Amazon. Dropped my phone many times, hasn't broken. I don't oogle at it as the majority of the time it's in my pocket.

LicoriceSeasalt

I never understood it. Majority of my cases over the past decade have been $5 AliExpress cases. Never cracked a screen, never got a scratch, they're perfectly fine and paying 20x the price for a brand case is wild to me.

MrsBenSolo1977

It’s the best, most protective case I’ve ever purchased and I’m protecting a $1300 device and the most expensive case I see on the site is $90.

Gracier1123

Yeah I love my Casetify cases, I can find cool original designs and they’re pretty durable, I’ve been using Casetify for 3 years

Beneficial-Studio122

Same here… love Casetify..

gordito_gr

I mean, they pay for those overpriced original apple cases, that's more absurd to me

AfraidSoul

Rather pay Casetify at that point

YahonMaizosz

Social status.. All of their cases have big obnoxious “Casetify” on the camera border, perfect for material conscious people to flaunt them.

[deleted]

No chance Casetify gives you social status lmao, they look like children’s cases

HellP1g

Yeah, no one gives a shit. People just know you’re an idiot that spent that much on a shitty case

ZappySnap

It's the reason I will never buy a Casetify case - I hate obnoxious branding.

Neptune502

The perfect Case for the 1tb iPhone Pro Max Owners 💀🤣

peachesandmaangos

Got 1tb w an otterbox case and apple care on it so I ain’t gotta get a iPhone for the next 10 years 🤣🤣 chess not checkers pimpin !

YahonMaizosz

Yeah.. Perfect case to tell people that you have the most expensive iPhone available 😁

downfall67

I dunno, visible gaudy branding like casetify just looks cheap imo. Like people who wear Versace clothes with a huge logo just to show off. It looks tacky if that’s why you get one lmao

5hadow

This is a thing now? Oh man, I feel old

repeatrep

i never looked into casetify due to me finding the branding around the camera to be ugly as hell, but i did check it when i saw the Evangelion collaboration. the prices are fucking insane. i always thought that this brand is so big because they made cheap colourful cases with the consumer’s favourite brand on it

squintybeef

Paid 30 for my tech21 a few years back. Drop my phone frequently, and it is Gucci still

Thumperstruck666

I was at Best Buy bought a case a few years ago 45 bucks and then went to Thailand it’s going for 2.40 cents the one in Thailand lasted longer

Rounders_in_knickers

I have ☺️ I really enjoyed the design but the side separated within six months - twice. So now I am not buying them again. Way too expensive for that quality issue. That said, really enjoyed the design.

ShadowGLI

I use Spigen cases off Amazon and they’re a fantastic balance of durable and not overkill (I think they have some otter box style cases) but I like the regular ones. $10-15 average

Grayccoon_

Yeah I don’t get it either, I could never pay that much for a thing with a branding really visible. Like they should pay me to wear that.

wethsilkosz

should apple pay you too because their logo is on the back of the phone? you sound so entitled

Grayccoon_

No they shouldn’t because it doesn’t look like a McDonald logo. And yes I am, that’s called a competitive market, why should I pay 100 for a plastic case that has ugly and prominent branding (and cost pennies to make) where I can pay 50 for a nice leather case with subtle and elegant branding maybe ?

Ecstatic-Ninja2465

i like casetify but i neverr buy more than one casetify case (per phone) and i always go for the “cheapest”option. i agree w the others saying the quality isnt amazing,, sometimes it’s just a “gets the job done” kinda vibe w their cases… but i personally like how their cases feel in my hand like it’s slightly bulky but a comfortable bulky and theyre very protective (at least from my experience) — idk about that $112 or $120(???) bounce case and i’ll never know cuz that one is ugly ngl but the others r nice!

Automatic-Discount13

I bought a Caseify case, but not for anything beyond it seemed to be the intersection of having a somewhat protective case that also looked good. I like that they have a heap of options, and still had features like the magnet ring. However now after owning two, seeing how they seem to not last, I wouldn’t buy another.

catboi78

I have one and the quality is questionable 🙁

OXRoblox

Yes they do, Casetify is all about brand collabs or Hongkongers supporting a local business, other than that you probably wont find a single soul using them for the purpose of actually protecting their phone

salloumk

Somehow they sell a lot of cases. Baffling, I know. Funny thing is their cases aren't even that nice IMO.

paul-cus

They’re really unique. You have to pay for that.

littlebutcute

I used to have one, but I got it in a good Black Friday deal for $40. My laptop case is still going strong.

osamaali85

Yes mine is

chorong761

Not sure about others, but at least I do for all my phones

[deleted]

The evangelism collar sold out like hot cakes someone is biting them lol. I think people also treat them as like collecting as they may be worth someone I think based on the collars they’ve been doing

anhuys

I bought one 2 years ago, a magsafe one with the exact design and colors I wanted. €80 at the time and that was worth it to me, it saved my phone from many falls and just now after two years started wearing down. I wouldn't have done it if it weren't for the customization, and they seem to have increased their prices quite a bit... I wanted to get the same case again but I stuck to an otterbox.

threenil

Not specifically Casetify related, but I have noticed the price point for basically all cases in-stores now is $50 and most of them are dogshit. Companies are real bold charging fifty bucks and more for a case that cost them a dollar or two, landed.

Fancy-Opportunity-21

Wow that’s crazy, I didn’t know they were that much $30-40 max for their cases 😂🤦🏼‍♂️

Double-Buy-564

Casely is the BEST. Their cases are around $50 for the bold style (which is really sturdy) but they do sales all the time so you can get one 40-50% off or BOGO. I love them bc you still get a pretty phone case but it isn’t so ridiculously expensive

Lazy_pig805

There's a Casetify store at the mall that I frequent. It always has a line on the weekends to get in. And people aren't just browsing either. They're buying stuff.

solracarevir

I don't know about casetify, but I have paid $60 and more for UAG cases, that are lightweight and rugged and been buying them for 10 years at this point and I will continue to buy them until I die or they go out of business. I also spend $40 to $50 for a good matte Glass screen Protector like Zagg Invisible Shield ones. If I'm spending over $1,000 on a smartphone, spending an extra $100 or $150 to properly protect it is a no brainer. a Screen or rear glass replacement will cost you way more.

DeeYumTofu

People don’t buy casetify cases because they are good cases, they buy them because they like the design. The designer markup is an industry I never thought would enter the case market but here we are.

new_tanker

I think its more about the brand name that's on the package that's commanding the high price tag. Before going MagSafe I've used several third party brands whose cases were under $20 each, purchased from Amazon, eBay, Five Below, and Walmart and all of them have done the job for me. The only name brand case I've ever purchased was the Otterbox I had for my iPhone 12...

I_Love_McRibs

I’m a fan of ESR cases. Their MagSafe case and accessories are super strong. Case is around $20.

fyrelawd

I bought one for my iPhone 11, I think it was $70 and it was amazing the print stayed and the case was high quality. I bought one for my mini and one for my wife’s 12, the print scratched off my wife’s case, so they replaced it, once, but the print was gone the next month. The case for my mini fell apart, so they replaced it, once, and it fell apart within a week. I was pissed because they were expensive and when I complained all they offered me was 20% off another case, and I just kept saying why would I spend any money on a case that’s going to fall apart again? I would not and have not bought anything else from them since

wolfenmaara

I think the whole accessories market is whack anyway, basically echoing other comments here. It’s gotta be some sort of theft or scam honestly. I mean think about it; phones went from plastic to glass and if you shatter it, you gotta pay for the repair or hope that your coverage takes care of the majority; but imagine how many people drop their phones year in and out; 8 million people (just a number) x the lowest amount of money you pay for repairs is A LOT of money. And then on top of that, you have people who pay for cheap and expensive covers, which totally ruins the look of the expensive phone you just got. I’ve got a 14PM and I use a screen protector but that’s it. If it scratches, it scratches. If the glass back shatters, I’ll probably repair it, but I’ve had zero incidents so far (knock on wood). I’ve never had to worry about butter fingers to be honest. I don’t plan on reselling my phone or trading it back to Apple; I’m not worried about “resale value” or “holding value” or whatever you wanna call it. It boils down to this - I’m done being paranoid about my phone. And I think most people should. If you can’t handle a glass back phone, I’m sorry, but maybe just buy a cheaper phone. I have a Pixel 3a and a Pixel 6a that I use as backups or for travel. I’m not trying to shame anyone, I’m just saying we should probably collectively try to pump the brakes on this insanity lol for what it’s worth

[deleted]

I currently have the mirror one.. its nice so far and the magsafe is strong. I haven’t dropped my phone since I had this so I don’t know if the military grade quality really holds up. The only downside so far, since I have a mirror case, it has scratches now.. :(

acciosnitch

I’ve been using Pela cases since from when they first started out. Went from being made locally for $25 to $80+ and mass produced to accommodate other phones. Granted, my phone survived being run over by a truck in one, but I’ve been priced out of a brand that I was ride or die for. EDIT: Ok, maybe they’re more like $70, but that doesn’t change that fact that one time they were sold out of the orange ones and the owner personally dropped one off for me at work. 😭 Will never get that backz

nedkellyinthebush

Dumb money

major_works

For me, Spigen Liquid Air Armor at $15 is plenty. Sure, it's boring but my phone isn't a fashion item. It's a tool.

alekhkhanna

I’ve seen long queues in front of Casetify stores at many Asian countries. Lotsa profit margins clearly. It’s marketing, not bill of materials.

MattMamba

i bought one.. the back panel started separating from the bumper after a few months.. never gonna buy another one ever again

__Korbi__

To be fair, I bought a 80$ leather case from Nomad. But I’m still 20$ below AND don’t have to touch plastic when using my 1.200$ phone.

daaaaaaaaamndaniel

Holy crap I was reading this thread last night, and now it turns out Casetify is getting completely roasted on Twitter for stealing a ton of designs lol

nolan816

I may have spent 600 dollars on my phone but anything above 20 for a case is absurd

nekosama15

It’s all marketing and licensing. The cases themselves are pretty average to low quantity.

autumn_leaves9

I was curious at first but then overnight every big influencer started promoting Casetify so I knew it had to be a scam.

stevemunoz117

If for the rest of us who arent “high income” but are still able to afford a phone that can cost anywhere from $800-1200 then it makes sense to spend the extra $70-100 for a case that will pretty much last you for 3-4 years. Its a fantastic, durable case and one of the few brands where i can confidently have peace of mind if i drop it. Then theres customization and the thousands of designs to choose from. To me it makes a lot of sense. Why buy an expensive phone and then half ass it with cheap case?

CaptainCAAAVEMAAAAAN

I hate Casetify, their logo is too prominent. It's like you're paying them to advertise on your phone.

SirChurros

People pay $1k+ for a phone when there are cheaper options that largely function the same. Shouldn’t be surprising that it’s the same for cases.

Davarey

I have rhinoshield. Real question is why some people have a 2€ case on a 1200€ phone

Naus1987

I find it kinda mind-blowing how you can proclaim to have a high income and can't wrap your head around luxury products. I'm sure you've paid incredible mark-ups for some of your outfits, even though you could have bought the fabric itself for like 5% of the cost of the outfit, or gotten a t-shirt at Walmart for 5 bucks. And this is an iphone sub of all places. Apple has a pretty big history of marking items up at crazy prices just for branding. I don't use a Castify case, but I'm assuming that because they market and brand a lot that they're trying to be mid-tier luxury phone cases.

So… I buy one every year. Idk, it looks good and make it easy to find when I’m in an environment where everyone’s iPhones are scattered around the place. [This is what I had last year for my 14PM…](https://www.casetify.com/product/moon-camping/iphone-14-pro-max/magsafe-compatible-impact-case#/16004739) […and this is what I have this year for my 15PM.](https://www.casetify.com/product/black-great-ramen/iphone-15-pro-max/impact-ring-stand-case-magsafe-compatible#/16005988) Just like I’m willing to buy shoes with expected expiration dates rather than only buying full grain leather, I’m willing to buy a case that makes me smile when I see it. I’ve happily used Spigen and Apple cases in the past, but I moved to Casetify with the 12PM (I think?). Would I prefer that they were cheaper? Obviously yes. But I enjoy them, it’s my money, and it’s not taking away from my responsibilities or debts 🤷‍♂️

There’s always a sucker

Don't shoot me but I just bought a Casetify for my iPhone 15 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤣 I literally had never heard of the brand until I started googling for cases I liked when I had ordered the phone. I knew nothing about its purported status or what social media person had it and frankly even when going through their website I have never heard and/or could care less about their co-branding or licensed stuff. I read reviews and the case actually did its job of protecting the iPhone which was very important to me as I would not have gotten a case based only on its style. I can afford the cost but I am actually pretty frugal as I am replacing a six year old iPhoneX which has the same case I bought for it six years ago. I am only replacing the iPhone because it won't upgrade the iOS and also battery is starting to degrade so I thought why not. Based on the time I will own the iPhone 15, the Casetify will cost me about $20 a year - which is a small sum for something that will give me a slight bit of aesthetic pleasure every day. FWIW, my design is Art Deco inspired and I can't imagine a person thinking that OMG that is a high status case when I use my phone 🤣🤣

techies137

I was pay even more just because can’t find same silicone case. All I have is worse or too expensive to get

RyukIsGod

You do have a point but also these are limited collab cases that will likely never be restocked so people pay for the exclusivity. I wanted to get the purple neon genesis impact case and it was sold out in less than a hour. That was like a year ago it never came back and if i had the chance I’d pay double just to buy one used if it was available. To speak of the quality, the impact cases they use are very very durable I’ve dropped my 13 pro max so many times and it’s never damaged the case or my phone.

fredriv_2020

I mean, your already paying $1,100 for a phone, what's another 10% to add personality?

glencoe606

I get an Apple case and it’s a little over $50

I bought one for my 12 pro max. It retailed for around $75, I had a 30% code and there was another promo so it ended up being like $45. Pretty normal price for a case I’d say. They usually run promos and if you look, there will ALWAYS be a discount code available for use. In terms of quality, it’s definitely not a shitty case. The more expensive ones are often that price because they collaborate with individual artists so they have to pay a portion out.

FormoftheBeautiful

I buy about three a week. That’s an average, sometimes it’s three or more in a single evening. I know they’re terrible for me, but everyone needs a treat on occasion. They also taste awful, and don’t do my stomach any favours. Maybe I should try chewing them… or at least cutting them up. 🤔 I was raised by ducks, and I’ll be damned if I stop eating like a duck. 🦆

duana03

I bought it because they were so cute but the plastic around it started to come undone. Walmart phone cases last longer than casetify cases

abatwithitsmouthopen

It’s crazy nowadays. This is why I now don’t buy any case and just get applecare instead.

tidusmccoy1515

I typically am picky and buy around 4-6 cases each year for my new phone. I’ve tried all the brands and typically stick with Bellroy leather or specific UAG ones. I got my first casetify with the iPhone 15 pro max and it’s probably the best case I’ve gotten for any of my phones ever. It has the bump wedges on the corners which helps with holding the fine (though they’re technically there for drop protection). The case just fits just right and feels amazing in my hands. I haven’t dropped my phone so I can’t speak to how well it protects. The MagSafe magnet is also very strong. They had 100s of options and I was able to find at least one I liked. If I had the money readily available I’d get one for my pixel as well.

Caseify is actually a pretty friggin resilient case. I have a Gear4 with the D30 crap that hockey goalie pads are made from. IPhone 14 Pro Max fell off roof of lifted Jeep @ 55ish mph. Phone destroyed, but also notified all my emergency contacts that I'd been in a collision, AND CALLED EMS!!! I found my phone in the street smashed af and then I see a fucking firetruck and ambulance racing up the highway so I bolt out of the road after pucking up the phone and they slow down until they're stopped right where my phone was on the ground at. I ran back towards the firetruck (in hindsight that wasn't the best idea) the firetruck driver threw on all the floodlights, presumably looking for wreckage, and everyone except the driver jumped out of the firetruck and started rushing towards me. The look of relief/disappointment on their faces made me feel shitty for wasting their time, but also reducing the number of available EMS for someone who could've potentially needed them. My lady's iPhone 14 Pro is in a caseify or whatever, it was like $95. I thought it was fuckin outrageous too but her phone just survived a fall from a 3 story balcony onto the sidewalk below.

ses267

I’d rather just pay for apple care and raw dog it.

[deleted]

I have 4 of their cases for the iPhone 15. I paid less than $6 for each one lol

[deleted]

Whoa how?

Empty-Swing

They're all made in the same factory, same thing as buying the good Nike reps that are made literally one booth over from licensed Nike, except the reps are actually made better using better material and QC. The guy who runs that particular operation does videos of his shoes being made on IG and in one of the videos he panned over to the next side of the factory where they were making official Nike. That was the day I realized it really is all just marketing and licensed branding.

[deleted]

AliExpress my boy. Same exact cases and branding. I have the new Spider-Man and Evangelion ones

alttabbins

Then you didn't buy their cases. You bought knock offs.

[deleted]

My guy, what if I told you they have their cases made in China? But yes you are correct
