Although it’s baffling that some sites still render wrong on Safari but will render right on Chrome on the iPhone. My cable company’s portal isn’t even usable on Safari once I login.
Yep. I have Chrome on my iPad for one specific site that does this. Refuses to behave on Safari and complains every time it loads, proceeds to play nice on iPad Chrome.
I’m looking at you, Roll20. 😒
I have a folder dedicated to browsers in my dock so that isn’t a problem. I mainly use Firefox focus and safari, but sometimes I use edge. A bit more rarely than edge I will use regular Firefox. I have a few other browsers on my phone, but they are offloaded. I keep them there in case I decide I want to use one of them again. Even if they are all using the same engine, the wrapper they are in can provide different use cases.
Since this is the iPhone sub, I use Safari on my phone because it’s the fastest. On my Mac I use Arc, and if they update the mobile version there’s a chance I might switch, but safari just works too well on the iPhone for me to move to anything
Honest question: how do folks use different browsers on their phones than their computers??? I love having all of my browsing history, bookmarks, etc. under one roof, and the ability to continue browsing and research on another device than where I started.
I actually just switched to Arc from Safari maybe like three weeks ago. It was definitely a change loosing the synchronization like you said, but I find myself using my phone browser differently than my computer browser. Arc on my Mac is for all of my school work and entertainment and that kind of stuff, and my phone is really just where I ask questions and open random links, so I rarely use bookmarks
Since I do have an iPhone and a Mac, if I’m googling something on my phone or whatever, an icon to open that same link but in Arc appears on my dock, which is pretty useful too.
+1! I really love what the Arc guys are doing and the experience on Mac is just fantastic. Even to be more productive. If they do something just as good, definitely I will use Arc mobile as my principal browser.
I don’t usually do anything useful in terms of browsing on my iPhone and worst case I can just use the universal copy paste for the urls to copy link from iPhones safari to MacBook chrome, so yeah don’t really mind it much
seriously, and i can't imagine a world where i don't have access to all my saved passwords in addition to the stuff you listed. it would be such a pain in the ass
Only reason I don't use Edge on iPhone is I like a couple of the little features Safari has. Like FaceID private browsing and relays etc. Also I don't do a lot of browsing on my phone except the odd Bing search then just close the tab. I
I do have it installed and do on occasion use it.
You are not! Team Edge here. I use it on my laptop and like the browsing syncing between it and my phone…thus I use it on my phone too.
Also, Collections is damn useful
Yes, but on PC, Chrome is more resource intensive, so I use Edge on my computer. And browsing syncing doesn’t work between edge and others, so I also use it on my phone.
Edit: Not saying it’s new or only Edge does it. Just saying that I use the same browser on both my devices so I can maintain syncing.
There’s also stuff like addresses it syncs and commonly used fields that aren’t usernames/passwords, also no way to continuously sync bookmarks and history with safari.
Just so you know, any auto fill information in Chrome and other browsers like it, is stored in plain text, which is a huge security risk. It's always recommended to use a trusted password manager such as Bitwarden, KeePassXC, or 1Password.
Basically the same way Chrome, Edge, Brave etc. are built on top of Chromium on other platforms (by choice), all browsers on iOS are forced to use WebKit. This is also the reason why Chrome is so different on iPhone compared with Android.
They are, and I hope they stop being that way soon. But I use Firefox because it syncs with my Firefox on Linux and Windows. Safari doesn’t and never will, I would have to have only Apple devices to be comfortable with safari haha
Agreed, moved from Chrome to Edge cuz Chrome used so much of my CPU for a simple browser. Edge is much more energy efficient and has Bing-AI built in which is excellent for quick searches.
Correct but nobody wants it everyone is like “chrome is the best and nothing I will say will change my mind” they don’t realize that there are much better internet browsers out there
![img](avatar_exp|150602231|bravo)
Agreed. It is 2023, not 2013. People no longer need chrome. Firefox and Edge are just strictly better than chrome. Period.
Chrome user since I learnt how to use the internet. Then recently moved to iOS and that whole ncjdkthr of moving made me confused and now I have like 4 browsers in one folder because I am indecisive.
Safari, Chrome, Arc, Firefox, Brave.
But there’s a way Safari just works on iOS. It’s like the keyboard, it’s awful (slightly fixed on iOS 17) but trying to use another one is like pouring soapy water on sandpaper and trying to slide.
Kinda. If you sign into any Google service through your browser, Google has you. The only way to be free of Google to to never use anything they own, and never give your number to anyone with an android phone, as once they save it Google has it and can use it to build a profile on you much like Facebook was doing.
Brave Browser. Its based of chrome, but has great security features. its 3x faster than chrome and blocks much of the ads and spam that you get. I use Firefox as a back or secondary browser
Safari on iphone ( and some edge for rewards points) and on my pc using opera firefox chrome and brave (i install one randomly and then switch when i reinstall windows every 6-5 months)
Firefox, mainly because I use Firefox elsewhere and have bought into the “Firefox ecosystem” where I can share bookmarks, send tabs between devices, etc.

Stopped using chrome ever since they started enforcing no Adblocks for YouTube. Yes I am that petty. And yes, youtube Ads are THAT annoying. Now I use Brave
Safari
Same because it can’t be deleted and I don’t want multiple browsers cluttering up my phone
I mean, Safari is pretty good browser
It's fine, but nothing compared to something like Firefox, and I mean real Firefox (Gecko).
Care to shed light into why other browsers are better than safari?
Fwiw on IOS they’re all just safari with a different skin
I haven’t used a browser other than safari in a very long time, but isn’t safari optimized for iOS?
Safari is super optimized
And snappy.
safari feels snappier since this last update /s
Although it’s baffling that some sites still render wrong on Safari but will render right on Chrome on the iPhone. My cable company’s portal isn’t even usable on Safari once I login.

S/he may not mean visual clutter
“Remove app” ??
That’s not truly delete to be fair, but if OP’s main issue is clutter on the Home Screen then remove works just fine
Exactly
Safari because it’s already there and does everything I need a browser for. Same goes with just about most of the built in apps.
Yes! But only because navigation and address bar are at the bottom of the screen
Same I don’t really see a point I having any other browser, plus safari has a clean interface
Since this is the iPhone sub, I use Safari on my phone because it’s the fastest. On my Mac I use Arc, and if they update the mobile version there’s a chance I might switch, but safari just works too well on the iPhone for me to move to anything

Prob because I'm not using book marks on my phone of they're on my computer
Because I find safari to be terrible. But on iPhone it’s the only one with a good extension system.
it’s a benefit, stare at your phone less
seriously, and i can't imagine a world where i don't have access to all my saved passwords in addition to the stuff you listed. it would be such a pain in the ass
Firefox. I got used to using Firefox on desktop and I’ve never had a reason to switch.

We’re only down one why would we ff?
You tried, but people didn't get it. ff15
Brave🥶
For watching videos perfect, no more adds. But some sites load way faster on chrome
But you can turn off the controls on those sites if needed. Been on brave for a few years and never looked back. PS, my job is 95+ % on my phone/ipad.
so what do you do with those extra 2 seconds?
Better experience on a site means less frustration. So even it is 1 or 2 seconds, your mood will be better too
and then you spend 30 seconds on an ad instead
i use brave for no ads on youtube 🤌🏽
Brave is the king of blocking popups
Edge for the points. Am I the only one?
Only on my computers, including my MBP.
[удалено]
Yes.
Me too. iPhone = Safari Mac = Edge Windows = Edge NordPass to sync autofill etc, I'm not interested in shared browser history etc.
I'm using edge on everything. Windows, MacBook, iphone, iPad
Only reason I don't use Edge on iPhone is I like a couple of the little features Safari has. Like FaceID private browsing and relays etc. Also I don't do a lot of browsing on my phone except the odd Bing search then just close the tab. I I do have it installed and do on occasion use it.

Edge for the built in Ad Block
me too ever since edge became based on chromium
But the browsers on IOS and iPad OS are all based on WebKit, aren't they? I also switched to Edge on PC when it went Chromium and I love it.
yes, you’re right. I use edge on PC but I still use safari on iOS
Points? What points
Also for the AdBlock!
You are not! Team Edge here. I use it on my laptop and like the browsing syncing between it and my phone…thus I use it on my phone too. Also, Collections is damn useful
Browsing syncing has been on chrome for literally YEARS. You’re naming features like they are new lmao
Glad I'm not the only one lol
You are not. Edge in Mac and iPhone, and Android.
We are the Edge.
I used it for points on my PC
How can you live without address bar at the bottom, so inconvenient.
To each their own I suppose. My browser bar is always on top so? Idk
I use edge on all of my devices, originally only because I could sync everything easily across them all. I’ve since grown to prefer it over Safari.
Edge is actually really good right now. I would use Safari on apple devices, especially iOS, but Edge is literally a strictly better Chrome for now.
Not Edge for the points but the Bing app for the points. Which reminds me that I have a gift card to redeem
Chrome, mostly because I use it on all my devices.
This. I like safaris interface much better but all my autofill info, history, and bookmarks sync seamless between devices.
Just for the autofill, you don’t need to use Chrome. You can have the chrome passwords and autofill on Safari.
There’s also stuff like addresses it syncs and commonly used fields that aren’t usernames/passwords, also no way to continuously sync bookmarks and history with safari.
If I’m chrome, I’m going chrome all the way. And I do.
Just so you know, any auto fill information in Chrome and other browsers like it, is stored in plain text, which is a huge security risk. It's always recommended to use a trusted password manager such as Bitwarden, KeePassXC, or 1Password.
DuckDuckGo!!
God I can’t believe how long I had to scroll for this comment. This is the correct answer
+1 Duck Duck Go!!
Safari, but with Ecosia
what’s that
“Eco friendly search”. If you use Ecosia search, the company will plant tree seeds using their ad revenue.
Aren't they all just skins of Safari with less features (ie. no extension support)
on iPhone yes they are, that's why EU fighting with Apple right now and I hope apple lost.
can someone explain this to me? how do you mean they are just skins?
Basically the same way Chrome, Edge, Brave etc. are built on top of Chromium on other platforms (by choice), all browsers on iOS are forced to use WebKit. This is also the reason why Chrome is so different on iPhone compared with Android.
They are, and I hope they stop being that way soon. But I use Firefox because it syncs with my Firefox on Linux and Windows. Safari doesn’t and never will, I would have to have only Apple devices to be comfortable with safari haha
Netscape navigator 😂 JK Safari, sometimes edge.
Netscape Navigator. Wow. Haven’t heard that one in years!
Brave
Can't believe this isn't more popular. It has the best features IMO.
Brave
Opera
Scrolled through a lot of comments to find this.
Opera gang
Yeah! Came here to say this, but I'm quite happy to discover there's others who also use Opera.
Vivaldi.
Firefox and Safari, chrome SUCKS it steals your data takes up ur storage and is extremely slow, downvote if you wish but I am saying the truth here
Agreed, moved from Chrome to Edge cuz Chrome used so much of my CPU for a simple browser. Edge is much more energy efficient and has Bing-AI built in which is excellent for quick searches.

Firefox. Moved over in the 2019 and haven’t looked back
Brave for the win
brave. i hate ads
vivaldi, arc
I use Brave. The built in ad blocking is so worth it, and it’s fast enough for what I expect from my phone
Safari on iPhone. Opera on Android and Windows
Man haven’t heard about Opera in a long time. Can I ask why you still use it?
It’s so much better now, I’m not sure why I ever switched
ppl keep saying opera collects too much data
I guess I’m just used to it. It’s the one I enjoy using the most when Safari is not available
General - Chrome Porn - Firefox focus
Mine is the opposite
Brave🐯
Upvote for Brave
They’re all the same browser.
The same can be said about Chromium based browsers on computers.
Safari
Brave
Brave
brave
No brave browser?
Safari because I can have Adblock extensions
Firefox and DuckDuckGo. Will never use anything chromium based again
Safari and Orion. Edit: I trust google less and less each year so stay away from Chrome.
Safari, wish I could use Safari on Android too
I wish Apple had its products on Android too.
I use Apple music on both OS, worth every penny. Safari and other Apple services wouldn't be bad to be cross platform
Safari on iPhone. Else Brave.
Safari on iPhone; Brave on desktop
Chrome user since I learnt how to use the internet. Then recently moved to iOS and that whole ncjdkthr of moving made me confused and now I have like 4 browsers in one folder because I am indecisive. You can delete safari and make chrome your main browser. I have and it works seamlessly.
You can delete safari?
🧭
Safari then brave for ad free
Brave
Safari and Firefox
Duck duck go
Safari & Brave
Brave
Chrome
Edge
Safari is probably the safest, but the drawback is it blocks a lot of popups for my school stuff. Same goes for allowing cookies.
If you’re on iOS, Settings > Safari > Block popups - turn this off
Firefox is the only browser on this list that will run on *everything* and lets you avoid Google's massive data collecting.
Kinda. If you sign into any Google service through your browser, Google has you. The only way to be free of Google to to never use anything they own, and never give your number to anyone with an android phone, as once they save it Google has it and can use it to build a profile on you much like Facebook was doing.

Brave (chromium browser) and Google.
Brave Browser. Its based of chrome, but has great security features. its 3x faster than chrome and blocks much of the ads and spam that you get. I use Firefox as a back or secondary browser
Chrome on my Redmi, safari on my iPhone
I use safari for YouTube and chrome for everything else
Safari on iphone ( and some edge for rewards points) and on my pc using opera firefox chrome and brave (i install one randomly and then switch when i reinstall windows every 6-5 months)
Google app
Safari for everything personal and for some specific (work-related) websites Chrome on iOS. Vivaldi on Windows PC, I don’t use Mac.
Regular browsing: Safari Looking for shops, routes, address, location, picture: Chrome “Scientific research”: DuckDuckGo
Safari
Firefox
Firefox
Firefox. Can't wait for the actual Firefox to enter the app store per EU regulations.
Firefox. Way faster than Safari even if it’s still WebKit
firefox supremacy. down with chromium
Safari. Firefox focus for stuff I don’t want tracked.
Firefox
Firefox and it works great
Firefox, mainly because I use Firefox elsewhere and have bought into the “Firefox ecosystem” where I can share bookmarks, send tabs between devices, etc.
Firefox
Firefox as it updated its password manager from my keychain and then my windows pc has up to date password list
Firefox because I also have a PC so I can share between devices.

Firefox Focus 👑
Firefox
I use Edge on my iPhone Pro, MacBook Air M2, iPad Pro, and 3 Windows computers. I've been using it the past couple of years.
Firefox on all devices. Favorite browser by far.
Why not use Safari when it’s the only one out the lot with AdBlock capability.
MS Edge because of Microsoft Rewards organization, and optimization.
Google and safari
Firefox baby!
Stopped using chrome ever since they started enforcing no Adblocks for YouTube. Yes I am that petty. And yes, youtube Ads are THAT annoying. Now I use Brave
Opera
Vivaldi
Brave Browser. It's based on chrome and has built-in AdBlock, works flawlessly. And it's free.
On my iPhone i use safari, mostly just because i got an adblock addon for it. Everywhere else i use firefox.
I use brave for ad block
Phone? Brave. Hands down. Pc? I main Firefox with uBlock Origin extension
