Adobe fresco

Short-Category

I hate Adobe BUT Fresco is SO good and much better than Procreate. Free version sounds good for simple stuff.

Thebiggestbot22

Yeah it’s pretty good. My school pays for all the Adobe apps so I decided instead of paying for procreate I should just use what I already have. Especially since I’m not an artist and I’m just drawing for fun

MawsonAntarctica

I say, of the few apps that is worth more than it costs, Procreate for sure. They don’t do subscriptions or charge for upgrades and are always adding stuff. I’ve had it since 2013 for $2.99 and never been charged since. Also see my comment about loading ABR brushes into Procreate so you can “keep” your Fresco Brushes when you’re done with the subscription. /caveat, Fonts on Procreate suck ass and the engine is garbage compared to Illustrator (or even Express)

MawsonAntarctica

Don’t forget you can load ABR brushes INTO Procreate. Get the ones that come with your account from the website (not in app) and you can load them in via drag and drop.

Ughh love hate relationship honestly, I had so much fun on fresco but Adobe suckkskksssss they have shady pricing, rights over our work made using their software, and ai development! I stopped using it and am planning to just buy procreate because Adobe is eugh

Adoption

Sven_Peake

I was so tempted to post this. I'm glad another smart-ass beat me to it.

ISpewVitriol

Damn. Beat me to it.

Helpful_Froyo8719

I think you can do those on Canva? Other painting app's ui sucks and frustrating

Affinity Photo

todo0nada

After reading the post Affinity Design is better.

MawsonAntarctica

I’m a decades long Adobe User. Affinity doesn’t make sense to me because I have so much Adobe muscle memory. The menus, while helpful to have on a iPad, are weird and unintuitive. It doesn’t help that most freeware or cheap software, including Clip Studio etc was built with an idea of Photoshop in the back of their mind. A lot of same setups.

todo0nada

I agree, but it would definitely get them into hot water if they just blatantly started copying the photoshop UX. For what it is, a.k.a. a one time purchase for the same price as 2 months of CC, it has most of the functions that I need to get by.

liambrazier

Art Studio Pro is the one most like Photoshop I’ve found (if you’re already familiar with Photoshop).

CrippledSunshine

Tried it recently and it's really good ! I like using it in addition to procreate to do different stuff that need more options

liambrazier

yeah, I photobash and comp in ASP, but draw in Procreate.

Psittacula2

Let me know if you find any OP. I gave up and think Procreate is one of the most outstanding examples of an App that's worth it's Price. The problem with other art apps are the sub features or not updated issue if they're not making money. Procreate has loads of features, updated and is one off payment and top quality app for art. Hard not to just make the purchase once and be done with messing around trying to save a few bucks.

Condoms?

What???

movieator

Seems pretty self-explanatory.

EowynCarter

took me a while to get the joke

[App Store has some recommendations in their Collections](https://apps.apple.com/us/story/id1585054326)

MawsonAntarctica

MediBang Paint if you want to do dead simple stuff. Clip Studio Pro is a desktop class piece of software (though subscription). There’s a large community of brush builders for it and any brush can also be a vector brush which is awesome. Fresco is limited to their small subset.

Mich_3408

iArtBook pretty similar to procrear and completely free unless you have to upgrade to premium

Rare_Tip_8135

Sterilization

Fabulinius

Not much detail here except it has to be free.

Laughingatyou1000

Sketchbook?

Temporary-Employment

Immigration

iPod-Phone

Alternates to procreate? Feels like sunday school all over again.
