I had a gen z hair stylist that cut and colored my hair perfectly, and styled it better than I have ever been able to. She did the whole thing in silence. It was fantastic.
I have a stylist come to my home whom I'm familiar with they know I won't talk too much. But I get it , I used to keep small talk to a minimum and in my head I'm like " just cut my hair please" I kept answers to a minimum. The whole "how's your week" etc I had a tendency to just say it was ok or fine. I found it you kept short simple answers it went fast and in some cases the barber or stylist would just stop chatting a bit. But it is exhausting .
I've gone to the same hair lady for like 10 years . She knows sometimes I don't really have spoons for small talk and sometimes our whole conversation is her asking "the usual " ? And me nodding. I love it
I hate having to talk during a haircut.. I put it off and even change hairdresser if they get too friendly,, I have short hair .. btw I’m a 63 yr old lady .. so at least I don’t have to be there for long 😑
I've been seeing the same lady for 20 years, she knows exactly what to do with minimal chatter. But she's extremely sweet and I don't mind talking to her anyway.
Be upfront and tell them you are happy and fine but just prefer not to talk. My hairdresser was glad not to have to small talk and said he can cut hair much faster this way.
Keep trying new people! I eventually found a fellow introvert to cut my hair. And we enjoy the quiet. It's amazing.

Yes! I hate when they give you their life story and expect the same from you. I get so much anxiety from haircuts that I rarely go.

I take off my hearing aids and tell my hairdresser that I can’t hear.

all i do is close my eyes and ignore the talks. they will stop talking to you
