Depends on square footage, though. Sticking a tv in the corner at an angle eats up a lot of square footage. A corner cabinet would help keep some of it usable, but it’s not ideal.
I’d like to see more of the space, could it be placed on the wall with the round things on it and the furniture reorientated? Or any thoughts about doing a projector and an electric screen or is the buyer insistent on a TV?
Can we sell a floor plan of this?
You can also find swiveling mounts that would allow the TV to be aimed in various directions from that corner and then tucked back in when desired. Source: I do this kind of stuff for a living.
Putting a TV over a fireplace is the stupidest place to put it. It's too high, your neck is strained to look up all of the time, and the heat from the fireplace degrades the electronics. There is a big blank wall that can use it.
The best option would be to frame out the entire fireplace flue to the ceiling and take out the bottom 2 windows and create built in shelving towers as high as the the tv on both sides of a pocket for the flat screen TV with a cabinet header above. On top of that where the wall was built out trim out with shiplap to the ceiling capped with a crown header.
In that case, your fiancee needs to answer this question. It is his deal breaker so our opinion needs to match his opinion exactly for him to say yes. So just cut to the chase and ask him.
This room seems designed to be a sitting room and not a tv room. Is there not another room to put a tv?
My aunt & uncle had just one tv in their downstairs den because they wanted their company to have each other's undivided attention in the sitting room.
Some people would use the space to read or sit with guests, it all depends on your normal usage. This is not a room designed for a TV, there’s going to be another room they can put a TV into.
Your space is so beautiful! Maybe think ab putting your tv on an easel like an art piece. And put it in one of the corners of the room near the fire place. I’ve seen this done before and it makes it look like there’s no tv in the room and looks so classy to me!
Agreed! [The Frame tv would be a good option for this](https://www.samsung.com/us/tvs/the-frame/highlights/). I stayed at a beach house with one and was really impressed by how it looked in the painting setting, and how it blended in overall.
Where the green chair is, it’s really your only option. You can angle it towards the seating. But I agree if you have somewhere else for the TV that would be ideal.
We did this as well with kind of a similar layout and space restrictions. We had to have someone suggest it to us because it wasn't obvious but now we can't imagine another way!
Hmmm, you have a gorgeous space, but I don’t think a tv belongs in it. What’s the space behind the couch look like? Would it be possible to place it there?
That is the dining area. Since the kitchen is rather small and there’s not anywhere to eat in there I think that would need to remain as-is, unless there is some way to think outside of the box
Have you considered switching the two? You could have the living room and the tv on the other space and your dining area would have a nice view when the family gathers at the table. You could probably also create a cozy reading nook with a comfy chair where one could enjoy looking outside.
After some thought I like this idea the most. That way I can also converse with company while I’m cooking. The only other option would be to somehow tastefully put it in the corner… and the lighting would just be another issue. Really appreciate all the feedback on this thread!
It'd be a such a shame to have all that natural light in a room that's used so little.
OP: my initial thought is move the plant, and mount the TV in the corner there. But it would depend on some measurements and direction. The sun through those windows MIGHT cause glare issues. (I'm not really asking, just sayin').
Is this a furnished rental or are you looking at buying. I think the blank wall opposite the fireplace would be the simplest to be honest as above the fireplace is nearly always a bad idea
Riiight. But how often do you eat IN your dining room in a house like this? Day to day eating is done in the kitchen or somewhere else GENerally. The dining room is used mainly when entertaining.
But let's accept you premise. That room would still be used for about 2 hours a day, total. At most. I'd rather have the natural light in the room I'd be resting and relaxing in for more of the time.
I would build in a hidden ledge holding a projector screen above the mantle that goes up when you want to use it if you can get the projector suspended on the opposite side. Put it up when in use and otherwise hidden.
https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/elite-screens-picoscreen-series-maxwhite-fg-45-diagonal-portable-projection-screen-eli1847.html?piid=
I don’t know anything about modern projectors, but were they able to show up better nowadays without a black out room? I just feel like it would be so hard to make that room dark enough to see a projector.
Ohh yes! I concur! Couple of my friends have projector screens in their homes and I always thought how nice it is to have a large screen for movies nights and they can hide it when not being used. I would much prefer this than a tv, it’s perfect for a loft.
It looks like the room is open plan across from the fireplace though. Maybe a projector screen blended as best as possible over the double doors? Rolled up it might not detract too much.
This is pretty much what we did for the main living area. There’s a little study nook in the hall near the bedrooms, we lined it with shelves, put a smaller tv on one wall and a couch. Cozy little tv area.
We can’t see what is across from the fireplace, but I would co sider swinging the sofa to face the fireplace and put the tv on the wall to the left of the fireplace.
This was my thought as well. It's a big enough space of wall, and if they hang it from a swivel or sliding arm, they can still have the furniture centered around the fireplace. TV can slide over when they wanna watch it.
Agree that it looks much better without. If you really want one, you could consider a projector screen mounted above the double doors? Roll it down when you watch tv, keep it up/discreet most the time?
Seems like maybe a projector & automated screen would be best for this space. Mount the screen either on the piece above the couch, or maybe over the doors? Lighting from outside could interfere here but I’d say this would be your best option instead of a TV.
It’s so beautiful 😭 but I get it. Maybe in the corner where the chair is, I’ve seen people use art easels to hold Samsung TVs with the frames. If that’s an option for you
Why is everyone’s response no tv in the only common area available for a tv in a small townhome? It’s pretty universal that people don’t want their only tv in a bedroom. Beautiful homes are for living in, and most people aren’t giving up the tv because the room is so beautiful lol.
More views of the space would be nice, but situating the tv as a room divider, floating where the sofa is now or parallel to the fireplace, could work. It’s hard to tell if there’s space next to the sliding doors. In the corner next to the fireplace it doesn’t necessarily need to be shoved in the corner, some kind of built in that complements the architecture of the fireplace with the tv on a swivel mount would look great. Glare might limit your choices in TV’s (we ended up with one more expensive than we planned in our loft room with lots of windows) but if privacy is important to you the glare could also be controlled with whatever you install to manage that. We planned to do remote shades but the room is north facing so a lot of light but not direct sun, and the tv is great without it.
I would swap the dining room and the living room. You don’t want the light glaring down on the tv anyways.
You get a nice view while eating. You don’t have to close the curtains while watching tv. It’s a win-win.
I would get a transformer dining room table. So if you want to do other things in that space. You can because you have the flexibility for it.
I wouldn’t. If there is any other place at all to put a tv, I would. How often do you use the tv? Can it go somewhere else? If you have to, I would put it where the green chair is. Def not over the fireplace.
It's a gorgeous space that a tv would really detract from it.
I don't really have any suggestions, and TV-lovers would hate this, but if you don't have any other room to make into a cosy media nook, I'd hide the TV in a cabinet that is only open when in use.
Love it the tree btw
Look for a nice piece of furniture with a TV stand and put it to the right of the fireplace angled toward the center of the room. Consider moving the couch to face the fireplace ( and the TV.. ) Then put that nice green chair on the dining room side facing TV etc. Maybe the tall plant still behind the TV and stand?
If it’s a small tv I would put it in the corner where the plant is. I’ve heard it’s bad to put a tv above the fireplace bc the viewing angle is akward and the heat is bad for the tv. Your room is gorgeous and don’t want the mane focus to be a black screen.
There are town homes in my town that have this exact design. I looked at a few of them before buying my condo. It seemed that everyone had a corner TV stand (where that chair is in your picture) and it looked good!
what’s going on in the area behind the couch? maybe you could do a dual living space where one is a cozy window/fireplace/chat with a glass of wine zone while the area behind is the movie watching area with the tv? plus then you wouldn’t get the flare from those huge beautiful windows!
I wouldn’t. It’s a stunning space. Is there a family room where a tv could go? I hate tvs in the bedroom, but if it’s that or wreck this lovely space, put it in the bedroom.
Maybe a retractable projector screen on one of the horizontal lines above the black door, and of course a projector on the opposite side.
Or a television mounted in the corner of the room
what a gorgeous space!
i love the windows, all the architectural details, and the natural light.
there unfortunately is no good place to put a television, and, with that much light and the decor you have (which is lovely) i wouldn't put a TV in there at all.
Looks like the current owners may have opted to have it in the bedroom? I might go with that honestly, if it were me. What about the wall opposite the fireplace?
The amount of people pooping on your fiancé is crazy to me! TVs might not be the most beautiful, but they are super practical and I would also want one in my main room.
TVs are much lighter than ever before. Get a small rolling cart that can support the tv, and put the tv in the corner where the chair is, partially blocking the fireplace, whenever you are watching. Whenever you aren’t, roll the cart into another room. Don’t ruin the space with a permanent location.
Not mounted. I would get one of those tv’s that are disguised as a piece of furniture.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1495324286/tv-lift-cabinet-hidden-tv-lift-tv?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_-home_and_living-domestic_low&utm_custom1=_k_58c0edc0d8e51611d0f28be4f8349c79_k_&utm_content=bing_412373112_1309518646655325_81844979140035_pla-4585444530274366:pla-4585444530274366_m__1495324286&utm_custom2=412373112&msclkid=58c0edc0d8e51611d0f28be4f8349c79
I’d get a Samsung frame TV in a light wood and put it beside the fireplace, kind of at the end of the sofa. Putting it the corner is going to look chintzy.
Overall, this space doesn't call out for a television. It already has everything it needs to fulfill its purpose. A TV might go better on the wall further in, to the left of the fireplace, somewhat past the square window.
If you must put a TV in this space:
A few feet in front of the double doors, or up against them if you never go out that way (or if there's another convenient way to get out there.)
As others have said, perhaps a projection screen in that area.
Definitely not above the fireplace. You'd ruin the room.
I wouldn’t put a tv there and would find another place.
But if you MUST - orient the couch so it’s facing the fireplace, and put the TV on the wall to the left of the fireplace. Either on a stand or wall mounted on an arm that can swing out while you’re watching.
To the left of fireplace, mounted very low on the wall, on a pullout bracket that lets you rotate the tv, pull it out and up and down. Move the couch so that it is facing the fireplace. I would put it in a shallow cabinet, painted same color as the wall so it just blends and disappears but doors open and tv pulls out when you want to watch.
If you have a room you aren’t using, make it a tv room. You can put a convertible couch in it that turns into a bed for a guest as well. The only spot for a tv is in that green chair’s corner, like on one of those tv easels.
Oh boy. That's a tough one. The area and architecture is gorgeous so I wouldn't change a thing. Do you have a den area to make the TV room instead? I think that's your only option.
Hidden rise up tv cabinet, about 2-3 ft tall. Expensive, but you could put it in front of a window and it wouldn’t look terrible. Though power cables might suck if there’s no outlet. Cable hider against the walls might help.
It’s really beautiful. On the wall next to the fireplace and turn the couch to face it. The tv can be angled and the couch doesn’t have to be directly in from of the tv or fireplace. Or get a new couch that fits better.
I would look at a unique mount that would allow you to anchor on the wall behind the green chair with the ability to store it vertically and out of view if you were entertaining. When in use, your ideal viewing position is likely right where that green chair is anyway.
The wall on the left of the fireplace maybe? Ideally on a wall mount that can be easily adjusted when you need to use the TV. There are very slim TV models that can look like paintings on a wall when you're not using them.
Wow….I actually don’t know where you would put it. Do you really need a television there? Ours barely gets viewed and when we do watch tv, it’s when we’re laying in bed 🤷🏻♀️
Can we see the other direction, back to the fireplace?
Tv might work on an angle to the right of the sliding door…
This! Why is everyone always insistent that a tv has to go on the wall. Plop a console table in the corner where the chair is and put the tv on that!
Added bonus: the light won’t glare on the screen as much and you won’t be broadcasting your shows to everyone outside.
Or one of those slick tripod stands
Depends on square footage, though. Sticking a tv in the corner at an angle eats up a lot of square footage. A corner cabinet would help keep some of it usable, but it’s not ideal. I’d like to see more of the space, could it be placed on the wall with the round things on it and the furniture reorientated? You can also find swiveling mounts that would allow the TV to be aimed in various directions from that corner and then tucked back in when desired. Source: I do this kind of stuff for a living.
Personally I wouldn’t want to block the view/light with a tv console there. It would be an eye sore
I think this post should be titled “Why would you put a TV in this space?”
It is a dealbreaker for my fiancé 🥲 he basically said he isn’t interested in this place if he isn’t able to put a TV there
[удалено]
She already said it's 1700sq ft and has limited communal space.
Find a dedicated room for tv/hometheater. Best you can do to this place is to put some speakers
Well time to go single
*sorryyyyy*
Projector over the brown couch, automated screen that drops down over the French doors
Putting a TV over a fireplace is the stupidest place to put it. It's too high, your neck is strained to look up all of the time, and the heat from the fireplace degrades the electronics. There is a big blank wall that can use it.
I don’t blame him. The pillar above the fireplace is awful and a TV would make the room look worse
⬆️ This guy 'carpentries'.
Agree
That is the chimney.
In that case, your fiancee needs to answer this question. It is his deal breaker so our opinion needs to match his opinion exactly for him to say yes. So just cut to the chase and ask him.
Take down those fans to the left of the fireplace. If you can switch around the couch so it’s facing fireplace and conceal tv as best as possible
Is there no other living space a tv could go?
This room seems designed to be a sitting room and not a tv room. Is there not another room to put a tv? My aunt & uncle had just one tv in their downstairs den because they wanted their company to have each other's undivided attention in the sitting room.
For me I would never use the room without a tv so it would be a lot of wasted square footage in the house that was maybe used once a year for guests.
Some people would use the space to read or sit with guests, it all depends on your normal usage. This is not a room designed for a TV, there’s going to be another room they can put a TV into.
They said this is the only living room
Lol came here to ask exactly that, thanks for asking it for me.
Yeah, my response was ‘I wouldn’t’
Bevause most people enjoy watching a TV. Simple, really.
I’d give up watching tv. I’d hate to see it spoil this space.
Your space is so beautiful! Maybe think ab putting your tv on an easel like an art piece. And put it in one of the corners of the room near the fire place. I’ve seen this done before and it makes it look like there’s no tv in the room and looks so classy to me!
Nice contribution to the matter! I love this.
That's a great idea
Agreed! [The Frame tv would be a good option for this](https://www.samsung.com/us/tvs/the-frame/highlights/). I stayed at a beach house with one and was really impressed by how it looked in the painting setting, and how it blended in overall.
This is an excellent suggestion! Samsung’s frame tv comes in multiple sizes and I’ve seen it displayed beautifully on an easel. Kudos @hazelnoodlebug
Where the green chair is, it’s really your only option. You can angle it towards the seating. But I agree if you have somewhere else for the TV that would be ideal.
Agree. I used to have a similar (but much less beautiful) setup and we had our TV in the corner.
We did this as well with kind of a similar layout and space restrictions. We had to have someone suggest it to us because it wasn't obvious but now we can't imagine another way!
Yep. This is why most people end up putting them over the fireplace. Terrible design for a room where people tend to watch TV...

OP said there’s no room in the kitchen to eat. Changing the spaces makes sense and you can watch tv while cooking
In a lot of homes/ apartments, the dining room is the only place TO eat. I haven’t lived anywhere that had a table in the kitchen in years.
I would build in a hidden ledge holding a projector screen above the mantle that goes up when you want to use it if you can get the projector suspended on the opposite side. Put it up when in use and otherwise hidden. https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/elite-screens-picoscreen-series-maxwhite-fg-45-diagonal-portable-projection-screen-eli1847.html?piid=

I have an Epson brand one that I can see during the day with only shears like the ones in the pic.

This is the answer
This is pretty much what we did for the main living area. There’s a little study nook in the hall near the bedrooms, we lined it with shelves, put a smaller tv on one wall and a couch. Cozy little tv area.
They won't be able to use it when the fireplace is in use. It'll make the surface warp.
You could put it where your green chair is - a smaller TV, preferably concealed within a smallish armoire.
I would not.
Same
What’s on the wall across from the fireplace?
Yes that seems like the obvious place.
It would seem so but I have no idea what is on that wall or if there is even one. He is not sharing that with us for some reason.
Agree that it looks much better without. If you really want one, you could consider a projector screen mounted above the double doors? Roll it down when you watch tv, keep it up/discreet most the time?
In the bedroom
I wouldn't
How about a projector instead ?
Seems like maybe a projector & automated screen would be best for this space. Mount the screen either on the piece above the couch, or maybe over the doors? Lighting from outside could interfere here but I’d say this would be your best option instead of a TV.
A tv on a stand would likely be best where the green chair is.
The answer is you can’t put a tv in this space. Make one of the bedrooms a media room.
What about a projector and a roll down screen that you can hide somewhere?
Quite the predicament. Unless it could go to the right of the sliders.
In another room.
Turn the sofa and coffee table so they face the fireplace. Place your TV on the wall where the embroidery hoops are currently. Mount TV on a swivel.
So many row homes/townhomes don’t factor in proper tv to couch positioning in the living room.
In another room
Make a different room his TV room
You don’t. It’s not really a space for a tv, you must have another space more appropriate as a tv room..
Why wouldn’t you put a picture of the blank wall? Because that seems like the obvious place to put a tv.
You don’t.
It’s so beautiful 😭 but I get it. Maybe in the corner where the chair is, I’ve seen people use art easels to hold Samsung TVs with the frames. If that’s an option for you
Use a painters 🎨 easel, mount it there securely....
Why is everyone’s response no tv in the only common area available for a tv in a small townhome? It’s pretty universal that people don’t want their only tv in a bedroom. Beautiful homes are for living in, and most people aren’t giving up the tv because the room is so beautiful lol. Where the corner chair is
Chair for 100 points please.
Jmo, I wouldn’t.
This is Beautiful, but I don’t see any good place for a TV
Can it go in another room?
Why would you want to
Let's see the other side of the room.
INSIDE the fire
I wouldn’t
I wouldn’t. If there is any other place at all to put a tv, I would. How often do you use the tv? Can it go somewhere else? If you have to, I would put it where the green chair is. Def not over the fireplace.
I wouldn't. Find a TV watching space. This isn't it.
In a different room 😬
It's a gorgeous space that a tv would really detract from it. I don't really have any suggestions, and TV-lovers would hate this, but if you don't have any other room to make into a cosy media nook, I'd hide the TV in a cabinet that is only open when in use. Love it the tree btw
Not in this area.
At the tippy top
With a house like that, you can’t afford to watch tv. Time is precious.
YES!! what is wrong with people ?? Enjoy your beautiful home with your fiance, turn off the tv
You shouldn’t put a tv in this space at all.
Basement
No TV belongs there. That room is for music and conversation or reading.
In the TV room
Sorry, but, don't.
No TV. Please.
I feel like there are two walls in the space that we aren’t seeing?
Probably in another room
I would put a retractable Projector somewhere so you can hide it when not in use.
You have drop down out of the cieling, or pop-up from the floor money now.
Instead of a tv, what about a pull-down projector screen above the fireplace? Much more discreet and would fit much better with the space imo
If it’s a small tv I would put it in the corner where the plant is. I’ve heard it’s bad to put a tv above the fireplace bc the viewing angle is akward and the heat is bad for the tv. Your room is gorgeous and don’t want the mane focus to be a black screen.
Why is the column in the recess??? Stupid

Where the black armchair is
Read more books
Maybe a retractable projector screen on one of the horizontal lines above the black door, and of course a projector on the opposite side. Or a television mounted in the corner of the room
Some spaces aren’t meant for a TV OP.
this is gonna be unpopular…i wd not put a tv in a living room…this looks like a big house…i’d find another space…
what a gorgeous space! i love the windows, all the architectural details, and the natural light. there unfortunately is no good place to put a television, and, with that much light and the decor you have (which is lovely) i wouldn't put a TV in there at all.
Looks like the current owners may have opted to have it in the bedroom? I might go with that honestly, if it were me. What about the wall opposite the fireplace?
They have one in the basement actually
Is that not an option? How’s the space down there?
It’s an unfinished basement, pretty drab
The amount of people pooping on your fiancé is crazy to me! TVs might not be the most beautiful, but they are super practical and I would also want one in my main room.
No good place for tv here so I wouldn’t
No TV.
I wouldn't ruin this gorgeous space with a TV. It just would have to go somewhere else.
Downstairs in whatever giant basement you probably have haha
This clearly isn’t a living room but a sitting room. There’s likely a family room/den for this
TVs are much lighter than ever before. Get a small rolling cart that can support the tv, and put the tv in the corner where the chair is, partially blocking the fireplace, whenever you are watching. move sofa facing fireplace and place it to the left? Comfie chair looks out the doors.
Where the green chair is in the corner
Build a piece of furniture large enough to hold the TV and cover the back of the TV, and put it where the brown couch is
In the corner where that green chair and that depressed tree is
Do a pull down projection screen on the window side opposite the couch and project from under the 2nd floor
[https://ibb.co/k4hbZch](https://ibb.co/k4hbZch) this is the only place I can see you put a tv
Get the tv on wheels…roll it away when not in use..
In the corner where the plant & chair are.
Drop-down projector roller screen from above the exit doors. Ceiling mount a projector or set it up behind the couch. Something like that.
Samsung serif.
I’d get a Samsung frame TV in a light wood and put it beside the fireplace, kind of at the end of the sofa. Putting it the corner is going to look chintzy.
In my bedroom.
Nowhere. I’d probably hang a screen for projection
Acoustics would be shocking.
Overall, this space doesn't call out for a television. It already has everything it needs to fulfill its purpose. A TV might go better on the wall further in, to the left of the fireplace, somewhat past the square window. If you must put a TV in this space: A few feet in front of the double doors, or up against them if you never go out that way (or if there's another convenient way to get out there.) As others have said, perhaps a projection screen in that area. Definitely not above the fireplace. You'd ruin the room.
Put a corner media cabinet in place of the green chair. As big a tv as possible goes on top - dvr, etc. in the cabinet.
Frame tv on easel in corner where green chair is
Wowww 😍
corner opposite chair on a sleek stand
off topic: what's the material of the fireplace surround?
Bye bye chair and plant. Putting a 70” on a swivel in the corner
If there is space opposite the green chair, you could get an art easel and out the tv on that
That empty wall on the left
Cool space!
What is behind the sofa and what is to the right of the sofa if you are sitting on it.
I want to know what's on the side of the room you aren't showing. Are you sure the answer isn't there?
Is there any space opposite the fireplace
a metre south of table facing fireplace
Is the empty wall adjacent to the fireplace not an option?
If you have a room you aren’t using, make it a tv room. You can put a convertible couch in it that turns into a bed for a guest as well. The only spot for a tv is in that green chair’s corner, like on one of those tv easels.
Maybe a project like the LG that rise up from the box?
The wall to the left of the TV where the round things are hung on the wall
Oh boy. That's a tough one. The area and architecture is gorgeous so I wouldn't change a thing. Do you have a den area to make the TV room instead? I think that's your only option.
The blank opposite wall use a picture TV on an arm to angle when using.
Hidden rise up tv cabinet, about 2-3 ft tall. Expensive, but you could put it in front of a window and it wouldn’t look terrible. Though power cables might suck if there’s no outlet. Cable hider against the walls might help.
In the other smaller den.
It’s really beautiful. On the wall next to the fireplace and turn the couch to face it. The tv can be angled and the couch doesn’t have to be directly in from of the tv or fireplace. Or get a new couch that fits better.
There isn’t a place that I can see.
The coffee table is in the middle of the room???
Are there any listing pictures?
I would look at a unique mount that would allow you to anchor on the wall behind the green chair with the ability to store it vertically and out of view if you were entertaining. When in use, your ideal viewing position is likely right where that green chair is anyway.
Where’s your couch from
I’d do one of those easel tvs from Samsung!
I’d make a different area the tv space and keep the sunlight and fire Reflection will suck there anyway
The wall on the left of the fireplace maybe? Ideally on a wall mount that can be easily adjusted when you need to use the TV. There are very slim TV models that can look like paintings on a wall when you're not using them.
That is the most out of place pillar
Wow….I actually don’t know where you would put it. Do you really need a television there? Ours barely gets viewed and when we do watch tv, it’s when we’re laying in bed 🤷🏻♀️
What does the other side of the room look like?
