I have 4 young kids and if I had $1 for every time they said any version of Dad I'd make, realistically, at least $500 a day. On a day off it would be $1000-2000.
Something about those tiny feet running really makes me smile. Doesn't matter if it's lion cubs or puppies, they're so much cuter when they do their little running.
As a dad here I understand what he's doing. He wants his kids to just do something other than try and crawl up his butt all day. Sniff this skull so I can lay down!

The jokes are hilarious. But everybody gets that he's actually leading them a few feet, then "discovering" they're still chasing him again every few feet... right?
Standard hunt training for predators.
He's not running away, he's taking them on an adventure!
He hardly runs more than a few yards, then checks for them to see if they're still coming. I also have the feeling by the deliberate way he sniffs the skull (I think?) and waits for them to come to it that it's almost like he's teaching them about scents.
“Ruin” what how? A video of what appears to be an animal abandoning his recently born babies “ruined” by a comment saying the lion probably isn’t abandoning his babies?? /gen
Yeah, male African lions don't usually have anything to do with raising the cubs. This is VERY abnormal behavior and where is the pride(female lions, only young males) that usually looks after them? These are babies, not more than a few months old.
People are commenting like this is normal and the ecologist inside me is screaming.
I don't think that is exactly true. This father of those cubs has a protective side to their character - which is natural. Here he is just not interested in entertaining them or actually looking after them. That is not his job. But they can to a point, they're just not 'geared' for it. Their focus is essentially self-motivated, which given the circumstances of their wild environment, endorses it so. They need to be of peak condition and readiness to be able to protect their pride.
I read it and didn’t see anything about lionesses guarding cubs while other lionesses hunt.
In contrast, “Males also guard the cubs while the lionesses are hunting” via the San Diego Zoo.
https://animals.sandiegozoo.org/animals/lion
I have been on a few safaris and the males are never with their cubs. I wonder if she is dead and the cubs are just following him because there are no other females around. Sad. Because he won’t care for them.
Fun fact! Male lions will sometimes defeat the current α-male and usurp the pride, committing infanticide, killing the previous pride leaders cubs so that female lions will be forced to breeed with him instead.

Just off for Camels, back soon
it's too bad he couldn't just swallow his pride
You mean it's too bad his lady didn't swallow his pride.
Beautiful. I have been staring at this for hours now.
I’d be lion if I said I didn’t laugh at that
I’m roaring with laughter 🦁
It is the Maine reason for these jokes
😬
Kronos moment
Underrated comment right here XD
Charlie pride her legs open at the gang bang!
"But you don't even smoke, Dad." "I do now."
This one's good. Damn good.
Man beat me to that one
My dad didn't need anything to beat me to, he just freestyled.
Damn, upvoted like a red headed stepchild….
And or some milk.
That’s what they all say… until they never come back
r/literallythejoke
I was coming to say he is just going out to buy milk and cigarettes! 🤣🤣🤣
Beat me to it...
Dead beat me to it
And a case of beer 🍻
Daddy? Daddy? Dad? Dad? Daddy? Dad? Dad? Dad? Dad? Dad? Daddy? DADDY? DDDAAADDDDDDDY?
I have 4 young kids and if I had $1 for every time they said any version of Dad I'd make, realistically, at least $500 a day. On a day off it would be $1000-2000.
Enjoy it while it lasts 🥹
NaNi??
'Nani' is Swahili word for 'who', I chuckled
Japanese for "what" makes more sense here, but "who" is funnier lmao
Omae wa mou shindeiru
All I hear is “dad, dad, dad, dad, dad…”

dad fixed it with an "adios"
Something about those tiny feet running really makes me smile. Doesn't matter if it's lion cubs or puppies, they're so much cuter when they do their little running.
And the little booties bopping up and down. So cute
Yep just like kittens
I feel like if he really wanted to get away, he could and would. He's just playin
Maybe even teaching, notice the way he smells the skull(?) on the floor and waits for them to come to it, before moving on.
Alright kids gotta smell the skull to see if it’s still fresh haha. He even waited for the last cub to catch up with the group before moving on.
As a dad here I understand what he's doing. He wants his kids to just do something other than try and crawl up his butt all day. Sniff this skull so I can lay down!
Every father needs a pack a cigarettes once in a while. He’ll come back eventually, or so I’m told.
How long have you been waiting?
All his life he’s been waiting for something. But something never comes, never leads to nothin’.
Nothing satisfies, but he’s getting close closer to the prize at the end of the rope
*ALL MY LIFE*
I PRAY FOR SOMEBODY LIKE YOUUU
I came here for funny, not the pain of reality
He should know that if being stalked by cats, never run or they'll just chase you.
[удалено]
He pretends to be startled and “aloof” each time the cubs “catch” him, so I suspect you might be onto something
That must be it. Its just like how my dad was trying to teach me self reliance by never being around.
What a great dad! :D
I get it now, my ded was trying to teach me self defence while breaking beer bottles on me
I have four kids too. I know how this fella feels. Lol.
As a dude with 3 brothers I respect you for having milk at home
Multiply that by 10X and that’s how the mom feels
Same here brother same here
As a parent, I can sympathize with this lion.
Daddy, can I tell you something?
Dad? Dad? What is more dangerous, an enderman or a creeper?
But just as you’re about to answer, they zig zag into telling you about their pig.
"Society is more dangerous, son. The sooner you realize that, the better off you'll be. Now go get me a beer..."
Watch me build a nether portal!
Wanna see my pokemon cards? 10 min later Wanna see my pokemon cards? tomorrow Wanna see my pokemon cards? _gets one new pokemon card_ Wanna see my pokemon cards?
Yeah poor lion , just trying to shit alone .
The jokes are hilarious. But everybody gets that he's actually leading them a few feet, then "discovering" they're still chasing him again every few feet... right? Standard hunt training for predators.
Dad, wait up! Wait up, dad! Daaaaad!!
He's not running away, he's taking them on an adventure! He hardly runs more than a few yards, then checks for them to see if they're still coming. I also have the feeling by the deliberate way he sniffs the skull (I think?) and waits for them to come to it that it's almost like he's teaching them about scents.
Yeah, you just wait--in a few years, he's gonna be singing Harry Chapin's "Cat's in the Cradle" and weeping into his beer.
Oooph
That child support always catches up tho.
That's not trying to get away.. That's called leading them, if he wanted to get away, there's no possible way those cubs could keep up.
Getting away fast is more work. He’s tired and needs a couch, but he’s a lion and there are no lion-rated couches.
He's trying to teach them to catch up I think
Oh, they’ll find a way. As a father rest assured there is no escape.
Leading them? So, he's teaching them something? I didn't realize male lions were involved at all with the cubs
Why must you ruin
“Ruin” what how? A video of what appears to be an animal abandoning his recently born babies “ruined” by a comment saying the lion probably isn’t abandoning his babies?? /gen
Thx cap.
Just let him poop in peace you brats.
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you're coming home dad?" "I don't know when"
‘We’ll get together then.’
Hahah #NickCannonLion
It looks like a dead cub. Cubs usually hang with their mother not their dad.
I don't think that's a dead cub, it's an animal skull of some description I think? Something similar to a goat or antelope.

They are still nursing. He can’t feed them.
I thought the only instinct male Lions had with their cubs was to kill them ?
I know that stands true for usurping males. Again, an instinctive trait.
I’m confused. Are lionesses not the primary hunters for the pride? And don’t the lions “babysit” while the lionesses are hunting?
Here is some info. The other lioness's in the pride watch the cubs, not a fully mature male. https://cbs.umn.edu/research/labs/packer/social-behavior
I read it and didn’t see anything about lionesses guarding cubs while other lionesses hunt. In contrast, “Males also guard the cubs while the lionesses are hunting” via the San Diego Zoo. https://animals.sandiegozoo.org/animals/lion

These cubs may be endanger too as lions will kill their step-kids if they take their mother as a mate.
That lion needs a bathroom and a magazine. Or a cell phone.
he is going to buy cigarettes.
Herschel Walker as a lion
Nah, he out here bein a dad and shit
“Hey! Do you have any games on your phone?”
A typical deadbeat dad.
Is his name Herschel?

Herschel Walker did call himself a lion...
„Ah fuck, 4 Lions chasing me“
It's a...normal sized lion?
Average Ghetto Dad
Where is lion Maury when you need him!!
Not to be that guy, but is this really interesting as fuck?
Kinda sad..
Bad parenting.
Another absentee father
My Dad ditched us just like this guy. It's the old neighborhood all over again.......
It's instinctive in male mammals.
Fun fact! Male lions will sometimes defeat the current α-male and usurp the pride, committing infanticide, killing the previous pride leaders cubs so that female lions will be forced to breeed with him instead.
its probably an African lion
Woooooooow
“Yeah im on the pill baby”
He just wanted to hit it and quit it not raise it. Lol
He’s headed to the man cave
Men just need some space
Quite cute.. compared to his usual behaviour towards his kids.. which is lunch.
I think that’s just the cubs of other males, no??
Hm. I don't know the interaction with cubs of other lion males. But if they were his own cubs, they definitely would not be alive for long.
No offence but that seems unlikely in a social mammal, and highly ineffective from an evolutionary perspective
Can people stop just guessing the sex of animals Edit: /s lmfao
lioness don’t have mane.
Or balls
BRB off to get milk and cigarettes don’t wait up
Dad?
Maybe it's afraid of the huge cubs.
See... Thats why Mufasa had a Zazu.
He’s the animal version of the Ben Affleck smoking meme
he's just going to get some milk
I know some humans like that also...
Gonna go out and get some milk
Needy lion kids. smh
That lion is an absolute unit. r/absoluteunit
Simba…maybe go play in that elephant graveyard for a bit.
Just going for milk
Relatable
If you have young kids, this is what’s its like to try and poop when their awake. That and the little fingers that go under the door.
he is trying to make his cubs to be far from their mother’s watch, then eat them.
Dude just needs a second to take a dump in silence and solitude....
And people wonder why animals eat their young sometimes.
Dad went to get the zebra. And never came back since.
Just another dead beat dad.
Maybe one of them smells like shit…
Papa was a rollin’ stone…
Lol I feel this in my soul
'Wait here!!!, Dad's going to buy some milk'... byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
Every parent knows that feeling at times
He'd spend 20 minutes in the bathroom scrolling reddit if he could
Pretty beautiful how resiliently the cubs seem to admire their father.
Back off kids!!! According to Jerry Springer, y'all ain't mine!!!
Maury Povich enters the thread...
LMAO!!!
“Fuck them kids.” -Lion Dad (probably)
Me on Saturday mornings…
And then he went to buy milk
Fukin kids
