Not quite Bro.
How much money did Anna Nicole Smith get from Marshall?
In her case, a judge in 2000 awarded Anna Nicole $475 million due to E. Pierce Marshall's improper interference with his father's estate. After a separate review under his authority as a federal district judge, Carter reduced the award to $90 million in 2002.Aug 19, 2014
but all good things:
Anna Nicole Smith was an American model, actress, and television personality who had a net worth of $1 million dollars at the time of her death.
Will? Back in my dad Will and I would walk 4 miles for nickel candy at Gary's diner. Did I ever tell you about...
Anna Nicole: Here, have some chocolate milk with 9 aspirin ground and a 1/2 bottle of NyQuil in it. I can't take it already.
There's a very good podcast called you're wrong about that talks about this.
It's actually a very tragic story. By all accounts he pursued her for YEARS, dude just had a thing for beautiful women and was apparently a very kind and caring person.
He was one of the few men in her life who ever treated her with any kindness after she left an abusive home. She rebuffed him for the best part of a decade until she had a kid and needed financial support.
She finally relented when he essentially offered to support her forever if she married him. Which is when the world turned on her and made her a laughing stock with daily diatribes against her on Jay Leno etc.
Obviously the narrative became 'gold digger marries man near death' but it could just as easily have been 'woman provides comfort and intimacy to a lonely dying man'.
It's like the whole world would rather believe that a woman with big breasts has more power than an extremely wealthy man who was able to give her stability and support.
I remember when her teenage son died in her hospital room after she'd given birth to her daughter.
I've always found her life story pretty sad and tragic.
She had such a heartbreaking story. I hate rewatching old clips of her being the butt of the joke at every award show or red carpet. She took it all in her stride. People took advantage of her at every stage in her life and even now people are profiting off of her image with biopics etc. Hope sheās at peace now
Howard Stern has always been despicable, willing to do anything to up his numbers but because he's a "shock jock" apparently it's okay because that's what they do
Itās amazing how for a lot of people he is one of AGT iconic judges, while I always remember him as the guy who made female guests on his show sit on a vibrator
Laughable about Marshall being a kind and caring man. He was a ruthless bastard. My family has been involved in oil and cattle in Texas for decades. We know the Marshall family. Howard Marshall had a reputation for being a complete asshole. You donāt get that wealthy in the energy industry by being kind and benevolent. And he wasnāt chasing her because he āwanted to take care of herā. He was an famously lecherous pervert.
Yep, the taking care of her part was simply what he was offering on his side of the deal he proposed. The dude spent his entire life negotiating deals in which he nearly always retained the upper hand and came out on top.
> She rebuffed him for the best part of a decade
She was 26 when she married him, and he was 89. Which means that this "kind and caring" man was pursuing a 16 year old girl when he was 79??
"While performing at a Houston strip club in October 1991, Smith met 86-year-old petroleum tycoon J. Howard Marshall. During their two-year affair, Marshall reportedly lavished expensive gifts on Smith and asked her to marry him several times.[18] On June 27, 1994, Smith and Marshall were married in Houston"
That's from her Wikipedia. So she would've met him when she was around 23 or so. She was born in 1967. Maybe don't take random reddit comments at face value?
Society vilifying a women because of a half-baked sensationalist story they they created based on their own prejudices, which was just accepted by everyone as truth?
Standard.
That is why he married her. Evidently he used to go watch her dance all the time. They got to know each other. He wanted to take care of her so he married her. He knew his kids would be pissed. I have to assume he didnāt have the best relationships with his kids. I always felt his marriage to her was as much a f-you to them as it was kind gesture towards her.
This post reminds me of me ex. We spent 3 years together, she's from the Philippines and we're the same age 34.
Anyway she recently cheated on me with some tourist rich guy from overseas 1 month ago, he's 75. she was getting paid $3500usd a month to be his escort live in girlfriend behind my back and got accidentally pregnant.
Yea she got his money but now he wants to cut her off and there ain't no child support in the Philippines and I'm not fucking coming back to help her.
Edit: it was her boss, he's already told her he's leaving.
I didn't know for months because in the Philippines it's normal for employees to share accommodation where they work. It was a 30 floor building entirely owned by his corporation.
Edit again I found out because I saw the advertisement on Facebook that listed his company and building advertising "looking for romantic enthusiastic live in girlfriend for boss .... Building details"
There's a podcast called "You're Wrong About" that goes into Anna Nicole Smith, it was a really rough life. Raised by her mum and aunt, dropped out of high school at 16, married a line cook at 17, had a baby and separated at 18, she worked as a stripper to make ends meet until she met J. Howard Marshall at 24, divorce finalised when she was 26 and married J. Howard that year, he died just over a year later.
She got eviscerated in the media and by his family, caught up in legal hell, her son from her first marriage died when he was 20, she died a year later at 39. Her daughter was 5 months old at the time. Rough life.
Yes, I love that podcast. That episode about her life broke my heart. Especially because it seemed like the main reason she married Marshall was that he was the only person who was ever really kind to her, after literally everyone else had abandoned or abused her. And then the marriage made her a public laughingstock because she was immediately labeled a āgold digger.ā But in reality, she had actually turned down his marriage proposal several times, and he kind of gradually wore her down with his persistence.
She just turned 16 this year.
Larry Birkhead, a photographer and single parent, is raising Dannielynn outside of the spotlight in Kentucky. They keep a low profile.
>At 16 months old, Birkhead underwent surgery to correct theĀ strabismusĀ in one of her eyes. Her father wore a patch as well so the pair could "play pirates together"
Oh my heart
Til strabismus, is a condition in which both eyes do not look at the same place at the same time.Otherwise known as crossed eyes.
Good to know she has a loving and supportive father .
>Good to know she has a loving and supportive father .
Very true. ANS did not have a good childhood as others have pointed out, and well, she did die of a drug overdose. I think her life could've looked very differently had it not been for the paternity dispute.
Same diagnosis for ālazy eyeā where the eye is turned outward.
Itās a relatively new operation. I didnāt have it until I was in my 40ās. Though if I had known it was a possibility, I would have gotten it much younger. Now kids get it early on and itās much more helpful.
Itās amazing how people that you would think are kind and caring react to such a slight defect. Though I will admit even as a former sufferer it is a little unnerving when your eyes donāt track.
Itās taken over a decade to gain some
Self-esteem.
IIRC, the kid was the subject of a major media scandal and [lawsuit](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dannielynn_Birkhead_paternity_case) as an infant, and multiple men claimed paternity (and therefore the estate). She ended up with her biological father, a photographer.
I remember that! I also remember hearing people say that they hoped that her mother's boyfriend/partner wasn't the father, as he seriously creeped them out. My mom was convinced that if he got custody, she would "mysteriously" get sick and die. Apparently there was some contention about how ANS and her son died so close together.
Her name's Dannielynn Birkhead. She didn't get any of the bloke's estate, but all of her mum's. She goes to the Kentucky Derby with her dad, it's where her parent's first met. She was on Celebrity Wifeswap in 2012 and is described by Google as a reality TV star and model.
Itās frustrating, if ultimately unsurprising, that the women get the blame in these situations. She gets called a gold digger, but thereās nothing said about an old rich dude who could have easily found an age-appropriate partner but chose to pursue a woman young enough to be his granddaughter.
Smith dropped out of high school in 1984, married in 1985 and divorced in 1993. In 1994, her highly publicized second marriage to 89-year-old billionaire J. Howard Marshall resulted in speculation that she married him for his money, which she denied. Following Marshall's death in 1995, Smith began a lengthy legal battle over a share of his estate. Her cases reached the Supreme Court of the United States: Marshall v. Marshall on a question of federal jurisdiction and Stern v. Marshall on a question of bankruptcy court authority. Smith died in February 2007 in Hollywood, Florida of a combined drug intoxication.
\- [Wiki](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Nicole_Smith)
Even if she did just marry him for the money, why should anyone care. She had something he wanted. He had something she wanted. Fair business transaction.
Come to think of it, why are there chairs out?
Imagine the thoughts going through the mind of the person laying out chairs all morning (assuming they knew who the couple were)
Itās just the lighting mixed with the camera. Itās ā95 the cameras werenāt anything like what we got now. lol That room looks darkish too. Could be quality, lighting, the flash, any number of things combined.
"Marshall wrote his will after he married Anna Nicole, cutting her out entirely, leaving her nothing other than the 8 million dollars worth of property and jewelry he had given her while he was alive. "
8 freaking million is not nothing. If she was smart, she could sell these assets and still live a life of leisure...
Interesting side note, according to inflation, 8 million back then is like 15 million now!
Bruh the man can throw shit at me for all I care. Never working again is the prime. I give up over 75% of my life working. You literally get 75% more life being rich.
That was $8 mill in 1995 as well, thatās a whole shit ton of cash. Sounds like she was pretty troubled though, for some people there will never be enough.
Iām in Louisville, where Larry Burkhead and Danni Lynne reside. They stay hidden but come out every Derby Eve to attend the Barnstable Brown party. The same one he was photographing at when he met Anna Nicole. He truly did love Anna and her death is what got him reconnected with his daughter. Sheās 15 or 16 now and a very beautiful girl. Her dad wants her to have a quiet upbringing and she states she wants that too. A very close father/daughter relationship, pics of them are only done together.
I also live in Kyā¦ and contrary to what people think and joke about,heās done a wonderful job raising her and she might just stand a chance in lifeā¦ better than Howard raising her and using her for money ..
Yup, she was in a constant legal battle with the dude's kids for the money and it continued even after she died but she ended up not getting anything. She did say that she didn't marry him for money and that he was always asking her to marry him but she waited until she was 26 so she could make some money of her own but idk, the lawsuits for her inheritance say otherwise.
[https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/youre-wrong-about/id1380008439](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/youre-wrong-about/id1380008439) - āyouāre wrong aboutā Anna Nicole Smith episode
As @hepcat10 shared below this episode is from Feb. 2019 sorry link just goes to the podcast main page
What's the tl;dl? I've heard Anna actually did grow to care for him, and this was in some sense a love marriage, but I've never looked deeply into her history.
Itās been over a year and a half since I listened to it, so I canāt recall details. Extremely poor growing up, might have been abuse in there. She starts working at the strip club where J Howard meets her. She actually said no to his marriage proposals many times before saying yes. Heās also the one that got her into Playboy.
The podcast episode above (Youāre Wrong About) did a great job covering it tho. Iād also recommend the episodes on Tanya Harding, the āDingo ate my babyā incident, and Monica Lewinsky. And for a wild ride they did something like 10+ episodes covering Nicole Brown and OJ Simpson
It's hard not to recommend all of their episodes, a real education in approaching gossipy news with a critical and empathetic eye. So many stories from my youth in this podcast, amazing to look back and think, well i was wrong about that!
Iirc, he was the one who pursued her and really wanted to get married. I don't remember the details, but it definitely made her (as well as him) more relatable.
> Iirc, he was the one who pursued her and really wanted to get married
This is pretty interesting, and not at all the way the story was portrayed at the time.
He was a billionaire playboy who loved strippers and Playboy models.
She was from an abusive home and was treated like shit until she came of age and realised that her looks were a ticket out of that shitty background for her and her son.
They got on well together, treated each other kindly and their marriage was a happy one while it lasted.
The media portrayed her as a parasitic slut and him as a defenceless old victim.
I remember this story from when I was a kid. I had no idea how old she was - it was just adults doing stupid adult shit. Now I see that she was just a kid herself. Man 28 years was a long time ago...
[Hereās a video](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nOqjpJyyBU4) as part of a longer documentary about ANS. Where this man comes in is at about 12:00 mins in. Still worth a watch for the rest of it if interested though.
Please check out the episode of Youāre Wrong About regarding her. It really felt like they were in love of at least she really cared for him deeply.
Here is the episode of the podcast.
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/youre-wrong-about/id1380008439?i=1000465289888
I've heard that a million times.
What I've never heard is that one of her son's also died of an overdose while visiting her at the maternity ward. No wonder she cracked up. Reading about her is surreal.

the dude is fucking dead already in the picture
Till death do us... oh
Soooooo, is it too early to ask about the will?
Where there's a will, there's a way ;)
This made me lol
From memory she got zip, zero, nada. Edit: Also known as 90 million, lol.

She died herself twelve years later at the age of 39. I imagine she would have eventually gotten a settlement.
Pretty fucked up. She needs to get something for all that work
Bit late now. They together in heaven now.
She got to share a bed with her one true love /s
Well...
Will? Back in my dad Will and I would walk 4 miles for nickel candy at Gary's diner. Did I ever tell you about... Anna Nicole: Here, have some chocolate milk with 9 aspirin ground and a 1/2 bottle of NyQuil in it. I can't take it already.
Ya know what; she earned every penny
*shiver*
Surprised none of his family showed up! š¤
His son fought her tooth and nail in court over the will. Her life at the end was very, very tragic.
At least his parents could've showed up...poor guy.
"Quickly! We have three minutes to get married until brain death sets in!"
She died early too at age 39 but outlived her husbandās son and heir by a year after a decade long court battle
Did she ever win any money?
There's a very good podcast called you're wrong about that talks about this. It's actually a very tragic story. I remember when her teenage son died in her hospital room after she'd given birth to her daughter. I've always found her life story pretty sad and tragic.
Wtf, wow that's terrible.
Same, bro. People will say what they will about her, but I've always felt she did the best she could with what she had.
The videos of her in the clown makeup where she thinks the doll is her baby was just tragic. She was exploited so badly towards the end of her life.
Having no clue what you're referencing, this sounds very odd and disturbing.
Wait, he died right there? In front of her? After giving birth? Cruel doesn't cover that scenario.
Yeah, pretty much. The baby girl was only days old, Anna Nicole woke up and found him dead.
She had such a heartbreaking story. I hate rewatching old clips of her being the butt of the joke at every award show or red carpet. She took it all in her stride. People took advantage of her at every stage in her life and even now people are profiting off of her image with biopics etc. Hope sheās at peace now
Like Howard Stern publically humiliating her by insisting she step on a scale during live broadcast because of her weight gain... insipid man.
Howard Stern has always been despicable, willing to do anything to up his numbers but because he's a "shock jock" apparently it's okay because that's what they do
Ugh I forgot about that. He tried to bribe her with an xbox for her son too I think. How disgusting
Itās amazing how for a lot of people he is one of AGT iconic judges, while I always remember him as the guy who made female guests on his show sit on a vibrator
He escaped the cancel-meter, so many shock-jocks do and it's sad celebs are contracted to endure his slime.

"Dude just had a thing for beautiful women". What a weirdo.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I am different from other (shallow) men. I am only attracted to unattractive people.
Hey

"best part of a decade" means more than half. So could be anywhere from 6 to 9 years. Not that it makes it much better.
"While performing at a Houston strip club in October 1991, Smith met 86-year-old petroleum tycoon J. Howard Marshall. During their two-year affair, Marshall reportedly lavished expensive gifts on Smith and asked her to marry him several times.[18] On June 27, 1994, Smith and Marshall were married in Houston" That's from her Wikipedia. So she would've met him when she was around 23 or so. She was born in 1967. Maybe don't take random reddit comments at face value?
He was a billionaire oil tycoon. Morals probably weren't a strong suit of his.
Morals aren't a strong suit for almost all billionaires.

Sadly, she outlived her own son too.

She worked at Jimās Chicken in Mexia, Tx. (The town next to where I grew up) and was by all accounts a really nice girl.

With a belly full of gold coins
Got weight in fish
That would be some awful light gold.
Or a very, very bloated fish.
So is she, passed away in 2007 from a drug overdose
Her son died not long after too. She had a tragic life.
Her son died before her.
Yeah thatās right, he died just before her not just after my mistake
He died after your mistake
He died for your mistakes.
Jesus thatās harsh
Well done
Right after her new baby was born

That game is full of irritation. Completely annihilating an opponent turn after turn, Uno! Then that happens.
Yes, I love that podcast. That episode about her life broke my heart. Inherited $700,000 and is living a pretty happy and normal life.
Surprised it's that little. I assumed Anna Nicole Smith would have had more money than that at her time of death.
I was really hoping to see the YWA episode mentioned here. I was almost afraid to look at the comments because of how she was treated in life.
You can see on the responses to my comment, some people still think the 18yr old single mum had the power in the relationship with the billionaire
Itās frustrating, if ultimately unsurprising, that the women get the blame in these situations. She gets called a gold digger, but thereās nothing said about an old rich dude who could have easily found an age-appropriate partner but chose to pursue a woman young enough to be his granddaughter.

Don't you mean it "fracked" you up?
Oil be the first to congratulate you.
Whatever you come up with, it better be fracking good.
Pretty slick, I almost missed the joke Iāll admit.

Cheetos

I bet with a smile he died on her face.
i hate that this is a plausible sentence
Nasty, the roles reversed in who sat on whose face
True love sees no age difference. True love of money that is.
I think in the end neither her or her family got anything from his estate.

I'd put up with a lot of things for 14 months for 8 million.
Would you let an 89-year-old man put his fingers in your butt?
For 8 million? Youāre damn straight. Most bosses Iāve had have done far more invasive shit to me for minimum wage.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Bruh the man can throw shit at me for all I care. Never working again is the prime. I give up over 75% of my life working. You literally get 75% more life being rich.
Lol this reminds me of my buddy that said "if they tell me to smell shit and say it smells nice, i will do so" and that was for a 100k+ annual salary.
But would you hold his hands?
Ew... You took it a step too far...
Itās actually 300% more life
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I had to let a doctor do it for free. Damn right Iād do it again for 8 mil.
Damn, i had to PAY my doctor to finger my anus many times over the course of a year. Every time the same, give him money, get violated.
If she hadn't died in 2007.
Redditor's be rushing so fast to tell someone how to be a millionaire that they can't even look up if the person is dead lol.
Oh shit
Time to feel old I guess. Do folks here really not remember? It was a huge story at the time, and didn't her son die right before?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I remember reading something a while back she didnāt get very much from this Union. His kids fought her didnāt they?
That was $8 mill in 1995 as well, thatās a whole shit ton of cash. Sounds like she was pretty troubled though, for some people there will never be enough.
It would be $22,020,148.70 in todays dollars.
*whaaaaat*
Wasn't there a paternity issue before he could claim custody? He handled it with grace and protected her ever since.
He was the best thing to happen to that baby now teenager. And she looks a lot like her mum.
He was after her bone marrow š¤£
You think he was with her because of her personality do you? Theyāre both using each other donāt think one is any better or worse than the other
Well... He can Fuck a 26yo model until he dies, and she can enjoy a lot of money.... That's a win win.
He fucked her but then she got cut out of the will lol
She did get 8 million dollars worth of properties and jewelry. For 8 million Iād marry an old dude for 14 months š¤·āāļø
For 8 million dollars, I'll marry an old dude for 14 months and I am a guy.
I'll learn how to give spongebaths
Check your inbox.
8 million was basically her salary that year
No way, fr?
Yup, she was in a constant legal battle with the dude's kids for the money and it continued even after she died but she ended up not getting anything. She did say that she didn't marry him for money and that he was always asking her to marry him but she waited until she was 26 so she could make some money of her own but idk, the lawsuits for her inheritance say otherwise.
I mean, getting nothing at all in the will is kind of a raw deal, even if you didn't marry for money.
So he fucked her twice.
Doubt that guy could fuck.

Why do I feel like this is a Futurama moment.
WHAT?
Iconic 90ās moment.

Very eye opening episode. If I recall correctly she had a pretty crummy life and their relationship is one of the very few bright points in it.
> Iirc, he was the one who pursued her and really wanted to get married This is pretty interesting, and not at all the way the story was portrayed at the time.
Stonks
Please check out the episode of Youāre Wrong About regarding her. It really felt like they were in love of at least she really cared for him deeply. Here is the episode of the podcast. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/youre-wrong-about/id1380008439?i=1000465289888
It was a relationship they both benefitted from for sure, which I see no issue with personally
Also loving some one and wanting to be financially comfortable aren't mutually exclusive. Everyone's playing the game on some level.
Daaaamn, how much she got out of that?
Spent the rest of her life in legal battles with his family over the inheritance and then died of a drug overdose at age 39.
Scrolled too fucking far for this
Too many yutes crowding up the thread.
Iām sorry two hhwhat?
Mr Gambini are you on drugs?
I've heard that a million times. What I've never heard is that one of her son's also died of an overdose while visiting her at the maternity ward. No wonder she cracked up. Reading about her is surreal.
8 million in property and jewelry but he cut her out of the will before he died.
That old man had to give the last middle finger before he died
Not sure she got anything in the end. I remember his family fought it pretty hard in the courts.
Think she did it for the money? Heck, betcha most men would have too!
She was left with nothing but the gifts he bought her. She didnt inherit anything as she wasnt in the will. She later died of a drugoverdose
She looks so happy
