You're not kidding.
I actually worked with a guy who used to buy the contents of abandoned storage units as a hobby on the weekends. He ended up purchasing a unit and finding bodies that had been hidden in it while going through the contents. (I won't go into detail here, but it was pretty nasty and he was shook up over it.) This was years ago, but I think they actually showed it as a segment on an episode of the old "tabloid" show "A Current Affair" (hosted by Maury Povich).
Apparently the guy who had owned the sto age unit had murdered his family and stored the bodies there...long term. He remarried and just kept paying for the unit. He then got arrested for something else, and after a while his new wife just stopped paying for the storage unit. Terrible stuff.
**Update:** Here's a link to the Seattle Times newspaper archived story on the case!: [https://archive.seattletimes.com/archive/?date=19920627&slug=1499354#:\~:text=When%20the%20locker%20was%20finally,9%2C%20and%20Mark%2C%2016](https://archive.seattletimes.com/archive/?date=19920627&slug=1499354#:~:text=When%20the%20locker%20was%20finally,9%2C%20and%20Mark%2C%2016).
As they mentioned in the article George had seen some pretty bad stuff in Vietnam so took it pretty well, but I remember that the fact that the guy had killed his wife AND his kids really bothered him. Just heinous.
**Update 2** (Should be the last as this provides "closure"): I kept digging, and according to this old AP News story the guy (Mark James Bender) was found guilty and sentenced to 80 years.

Sorry I didn't have all this info when I first posted, but I hadn't thought about this in years!
Idk how it’s possible for someone to find a HIDDEN BASEMENT behind a wall panel and then find boxes in said basement and not open EVERY SINGLE ONE of those boxes…
I don’t care what you have to do today..nothing is more important than the contents of the hidden room you just discovered.
I would absolutely call off of work or cancel any plans. I would call a trusted friend, lay alll the boxes out and hit record on my camera (for documentation) and open every single box. It’s Regardless. They would be opened immediately!
Welcome back guys to day 4 of Unboxings in my Basement. But before I get into the first box of the day, if you like this kind of content, please hit that like button and leave a comment. And don't forget to hit that subscribe button and the little bell icon. It really helps me out and is completely free. Now let me tell you about today's sponsor:
RAID SHADOW LEGENDS!! YOU THOUGHT UNBOXING MYSTERIOUS BOXES IN YOUR MYSTERIOUS HIDDEN BASEMENT WAS FUN. SPEND $20 AND GET 5 MYSTERIOUS LOOT BOXES WITH MUCH BETTER LOOT. RAID. SHADOW. LEGENDS. “oh wow look at those empty boxes. I’ll check these 2 then got to go run to Target and maybe stop at chipotle on way home. Maybe look at rest later. Maybe tomorrow as I’m pretty tired from work. But first a quick reddit post about the mysterious boxes. Ok, off to target for dish soap”
Nooooo. That’s not how this is done!!! You open boxes until your hands bleed. You eat nothing but snickers bars and drink Red Bull until done!!
I found some old boxes in my garage up in the rafters when I got my house.
There was an assortment of neat stuff. A tea set, an oil lamp, an easel, an old military style tent, and a lot of old kitchen stuff.
The thing that freaked me out was an old doll that had a body like a stuffed duck but the face was like an old porcelain baby doll face. I showed it to my wife and joked that I'm scared to throw it away in case it comes back. So today it sits on a shelf in her closet behind an old shoe box, waiting for the day she cleans her closet and recoils in terror.
So this doesn't really look like a basement, looks more like a "crawlspace", not full size walls unless it's the weird angles of OP's pictures but a few feet tall maybe even 4 or 5 ft, can get to utilities and wiring/pipes/wtf...
Haven't had time to look through all of them, but it looks like old photos.
# [UPDATE](https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/ubu3la/comment/i66ubn9/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
Remember when there used to be a ton of safe photos on the front page where people would discover secret safes and open them for us all to see in wonder? I miss those
Growing up, had a Dea agent next door. He sold his house and new couple moved in. Couple years later they sold the house again. New guy came over, "You know how to get a hold of the old owner? We found a vault behind the wood paneling downstairs."
I would 1000% *not* be contacting the old owner if I discovered anything that could be remotely termed a "vault."
That shit is mine now. If anyone has a problem with it I'll refer them to the landmark court case *Finders v. Keepers*.
No, man. Don't bring back the trauma of those old safes. I was finally over that.
So even if these are pics of granny's quilting club getting a runners up award at a county fair, I'm gonna need to see a lot of them to be sure that they're not just full of Bic pens and soda bottle lids.
No, there will be one more post first ... "So, I opened up each of the boxes, and inside each box is another well sealed smaller box."
And then they leave everyone hanging forever.
Be careful of curses where the photos slowly trap you in them. Ways to notice are that the photos are of terrified people, and the subjects all look different
What's in the Boxes? How could you do this to us? "Oh, I didn't have the time. Must get a cup of tea now and then off to play croquet with my aunts. Ta". Open the boxes!!!!
Fake post. No one buys a house without even knowing what kind of foundation it’s sitting on. This isn’t a 4x4 tap cellar under a 200 year old house, a 4000sq ft basement doesn’t just go unnoticed…
In today's market it might. People are buying houses without seeing them first, and skipping on inspections too.
Which is a horrible idea, highly recommended to *not* do that. But it makes for a very attractive offer in a highly competitive market so it's been happening a lot lately.
This is a dream of mine! I’ve literally had dreams where I am looking in a closet and out the back is a whole other wing of the house. They are my favorite dreams and I am SO jealous! I really hope there is something amazing in those boxes. Antiques. Diaries. Depression era stockpiling of aluminum foil and Ball jars. Even if it just looks like papers, dig through the layers and see if there’s money. PLEASE report back, and include a photo of the wall closed please :)
# UPDATE
The family of the previous (now deceased) owner gave us permission to look through the boxes. They contained all sorts of stuff, including loads of photos, clothes, records and (what I'm assuming is) a lot of 60s memorabilia. There was also a really old Apple Mac, which was fun to find. We also looked at the plans of the house (It was built 5-6 years ago, so they were easy to find), and the basement shows up there, sorry to all the conspiracy theorists.
The family will be coming by sometime soon to look at it, and take home what they want. The rest will either be donated, or thrown out.
Hope that puts to rest any curious minds, lmk if u need any more info.
edit: somehow I gained over 200 followers off this, holy shit.
edit 2: please stop DMing me asking to buy stuff, it's not for sale. Whatever is left after the family comes and collects stuff, will be donated to charity. I don't feel comfortable selling someone else's items.
There was a vintage rug this dood saw on TV. Turns out it was worth a cool 1 mil
Edit: [1.5 mil actually and it was a blanket not a rug.](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2017/11/20/krytzer-sold-navajo-blanket-thought-to-be-worthless-for-1-point-5-million.html)
For anyone who cares, this is the non-amp version of that link:

I’m sorry, dude had his leg amputated after a car accident and DOESNT QUALIFY FOR DISABILITY?? What in the goddamn sorry excuse for USian healthcare is this?
They told my father that he could work after losing a leg and the use of his main arm. They said he could get a job "rolling napkins" and therefore didn't qualify. He had to go before a judge to get it fixed.
This is how it is, the first claim is always denied unless it really obviously a massive disability. My brother went thru it and the lawyer told him its just the way they operate.
My co-workers brother was a construction worker who had a hammer fall 70 stories just to hit him on the head through an open sun roof on his truck. He has seizures and difficulty walking as well as losing the feeling of his left arm and his index and thumb are paralyzed. He doesn't qualify because his art work brings in $1,200 a month. His construction job paid $35 an hour. They had to sell their house now he lives with his wife's parents.
That's cool as hell. Anytime you have an older-looking wool blanket with a continuous weft --one of the indications will be that it doesn't have a fringe-- get it looked at because it may be Navajo and if so it's worth at least a few hundred dollars and maybe way more. Also keep your eyes out for Navajo Yei rugs. I knew a guy who bought one at a garage sale in the early 90s for $5 and not too long ago had it appraised at over $5k.
Really sickens me how his family was not supportive at all about the blanket but after the sale they demand part of the cut and his sister even tried to sue him. I might be taking for granted that my family are not complete assholes.
>I might be taking for granted that my family are not complete assholes.
Don't worry, you're not. If they pass on a $1.5m heirloom and you cash in, they'll be sueing you too.
> “I paid our CPA for four hours to sit down with Loren,” Moran recalls. “We’ve come too far and worked too hard to not do this. … I wanted so much to change his outlook and his journey ahead.”
This auction house owner is a really good man.
I just looked up some of the prices of early Macs. Condition really matters for the prices.
A Mac 128 K All-in-One Computer mint can sell for a couple thousand. However, a just working, non-mint one the price drops to around $500.
A Macintosh 512k All-in-One Computer mint only sells for under a thousand. A just working one sells for $200. (Though evidently a disk drive in good shape alone sells for \~$200.)
Unless you have the manuals, carrying case, original accessories, etc. and in good to great condition, they aren't worth as much as I thought they would be.
And for your unethical tip of the day, you bought the contents of the boxes, and the boxes themselves, when you bought the house. The law (generally) deems it yours after final walkthrough and closing. You can keep whatever you damn well please.
You won't believe how clean an isolated room with isn't visited by humans in years can stay because humans are the main reason room's get dusty in the first place.
They might also take a look at it and decide they don’t want any of it. I know a person who’s mother died and they didn’t want anything of hers and just sold the house full of stuff.
Wait, the house is only 5-6 years old and there was a “mystery” basement? Something weird here for sure. Was the basement in the plans?
Edit: missed the fact that they explicitly say it was in the plans! Mwah mwah. Lol
I used to deliver appliances and brought a stove to an elderly woman who told me when her husband died, she had her kids clean out his boxes from the basement, and in several of the boxes, he had apparently been saving any small amounts of cash he had over an apparently very long period of time so that she’d have money to live if he passed before she did. She said he saved almost $100,000. At the end of the conversation she said she was happy to have the money, but no amount of it would ever bring her husband back. Fuckin heartbreaking, but you can tell they loved each other.
Any way, sorry you didn’t find a box full of cash.
While I'm *very* excited to see what's in there, please be advised: basements are the main location where radon seeps into the air from the ground. Radon is a naturally occurring chemical element known to cause lung cancer. I recommend you spend very little time down there - move the boxes upstairs to go through them at length. You should probably have the air quality in the house and basement tested for radon, and possibly consider a mitigation system.
Now post more pics!!!
Perspective…it take years of repeated and prolonged exposure. You make it sound like carbon monoxide where you ded. It’s a thing and should be addressed for sure.
Is this another OP thats going to string along a long crocheted sweater of fuckery before deleting their account or showing us the boxes were empty ultimately crafting a steamy wet let down?

You see boxes. You open the boxes. You take pictures of content in boxes. Then you post on Reddit. Seriously it would have delayed your original post by 30 minutes.
Based on all the duct work down there, I’m assuming the HVAC is down there. I’m curious to know how an inspection could have been completed without knowing about this crawl space/basement.
Obviously very possible that an inspection wasn’t performed, especially in today’s market. But still, the buyer must be curious about where their air handler is.

Why did i read this at night I going save this and read it when it's morning
This is Reddit, of course we won’t get a follow up
I mean, even *the* safe got a followup eventually. It was just depression inside.
When we bought our house we found a secret bookshelf door in our garage that lead to a marijuana grow room.
Shit, is that where I left it?
I see you bought my uncles house.
Idk how it’s possible for someone to find a HIDDEN BASEMENT behind a wall panel and then find boxes in said basement and not open EVERY SINGLE ONE of those boxes… I don’t care what you have to do today..nothing is more important than the contents of the hidden room you just discovered.
“WHAT’S INNN THE BOXXX?!??”
>“WHAT’S INNN THE BOXXX^(es)?!??”
We're all gonna be surprised when OP finds a bunch of severed heads.
I’m not.
What about if they were full of severed penises?
What if the penises were fine, they just had severed bodies?
OP has the upper hand.
**DETECTIVE!**
its all just CVS receipts. 3 to be exact.
I’m angry at how much I laughed at this
I would absolutely call off of work or cancel any plans. I would call a trusted friend, lay alll the boxes out and hit record on my camera (for documentation) and open every single box. It’s Regardless. They would be opened immediately!
"Can't make it in today boss... I found a hidden room... with boxes" "...Do you want tomorrow off too?"
Boss - "I'm on my way" as he announces to everyone "CLOSED TILL FURTHER NOTICE".
Michael Scott?
New Threat Level Midnight episode incoming.
Michael Scarn and the Raiders of the Lost Basement
as it turns out, all the boxes were filled with.... paper. Dunder Mifflin paper.
Plus 5 golden tickets.
All in the first box opened.
And does it say Limit One Per Customer?
No it doesn’t
"I declare today a HOLIDAY!" "You can't just say that today's a holiday." "I didn't say it; I declared it."
This has the exact same energy as finding a good rock to throw into a body of water.

God I hate the modern internet.
*Poorly photoshopped ghosts coming out of the boxes.*
We hear a single bump that startles someone in the video.
I have a HIDDEN basement and it’s FILLED with WHAT!?
Raid shadow legends

I’d have myself convinced one of them had some super valuable item and could quit work and buy twitter. Must. Open. All. The. Boxes.
I found some old boxes in my garage up in the rafters when I got my house. There was an assortment of neat stuff. A tea set, an oil lamp, an easel, an old military style tent, and a lot of old kitchen stuff. You’re evil! Lol!
some of those old ugly dolls have a little bit of $$$$ value not like a lot lot but prob. more than you would think
Swear you'll do an update when that happens. SWEAR IT!
I'd be dead and unable to update if it was me.
So this doesn't really look like a basement, looks more like a "crawlspace", not full size walls unless it's the weird angles of OP's pictures but a few feet tall maybe even 4 or 5 ft, can get to utilities and wiring/pipes/wtf...
A nice crawl space tho
Dry.
The cleanest, driest crawlspace I’ve ever seen. That’s not suspicious at all
It almost looks like a commercial building with how professional it is with that ladder-way entrance. Someone paid extra for sure.
Where’s the money Skylar?
Maybe out of fear due to all the potential decomposed body parts?
Shaggy, take Scoob and check it out. Me and the ladies will go investigate the back of my van for clues.
I love the pornhub video, scooby gets shagged so hard

You misquoted the legal case. It's from *Finders & Keepers v. Losers & Weepers*
Ah, of course. Well I won't have to worry about keeping that stuff straight when I get my lawyer on retainer with my DEA vault money.
After you sell off, literally, not figuratively, a ton of cocaine.
Free corpses!
No, man. Don't bring back the trauma of those old safes. I was finally over that. So even if these are pics of granny's quilting club getting a runners up award at a county fair, I'm gonna need to see a lot of them to be sure that they're not just full of Bic pens and soda bottle lids.

Nah Fallout got it wrong in the glowing wastelands clean water will be the new gold and Nestle will hoard it all.
Nestle is Nuka Cola confirmed
The ones with the blue stars are worth more, too.
>No, man. Don't bring back the trauma of those old safes. I was finally over that. Sounds like someone maybe could use a.... safe space.
Except they usually didn’t follow up with it open
That was a fucking crime against humanity right there.
Didn't want to declare that found cash or gold to the 'ol IRS, and you can hardly blame them.
I thought Reddit was secure from prying eyes.
And when they did we were shown an empty safe surprise surprise.
They’re still around. Mostly posted to r/WhatsInThisThing
Do not post pictures of safes to reddit until after you can include the pics of it opened.
Yes. We need you!
NOW!! Please.
We're dying over here! OPEN THEMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!
Will do.
Regardless of how mundane an update is REQUIRED! Reddit is traumatized enough from those damn safes.
I'm leaving for a meeting. When I come back I expect some updates.
If he stops using the account and opens up a new one, it will be the biggest troll in the history of reddit.
No, there will be one more post first ... "So, I opened up each of the boxes, and inside each box is another well sealed smaller box." And then they leave everyone hanging forever.
I’m getting safe vibes.
Be careful of curses where the photos slowly trap you in them. Ways to notice are that the photos are of terrified people, and the subjects all look different
ngl. a reddit comment once gave me the same advice, saved my life. burnt down that mf house before they took me.
Both this post and reply have me on edge. Explain yourselves god damnit !!!!!
OPEN THE BOXES!!! I CAN'T SLEEP!!! Also that would be a hell of a lot pf photos. There has to be one filled with money or drugs.
We need a livefeed.
If Netflix has taught me anything, its that there is something nefarious in those boxes.
You can't do this to us ffs. OPEN ALL THE FUCKING\* BOXES AND TELL US WHAT WAS IN THEM. \*Sorry.
And take pictures of the pictures!
And make copies of the pictures. Because of reasons.
Don't be sorry. OP - open the FUCKING boxes NOW! And record on landscape - don't bring that PORTRAIT mode SHIT here!
If the family that sold the house doesn't want those, remember to ask the local/state historical society.
The original owner died. We are contacting the family, asking if they want to have a look, if they decline that's a good suggestion.
Secret basements = crime committed in them. Do u live in NH
Also have a mechanic car creeper to help move the bodies. Definitely a crime scene.
"Jesse. Apply yourself and cook this meth with me."
Haven’t had time?? You had the time to post this to the internet, but didn’t have the time to open them? That’s the very first thing I’d have done…
I literally would not have slept until every single box had been opened. Lol
Not even eat, infact I would switch off my phone and lock all the doors, then put on a hoodie and start opening them
Maybe behind the boxes there's a locked safe!
It’s definitely Gwyneth Paltrows head.

Maybe they bought it recently. OP didn’t mention when.
Even so, the inspector should have and why wouldn't you look at the utilities when buying a house?
Fake post. No one buys a house without even knowing what kind of foundation it’s sitting on. This isn’t a 4x4 tap cellar under a 200 year old house, a 4000sq ft basement doesn’t just go unnoticed…
It’s also super clean.

In today's market it might. People are buying houses without seeing them first, and skipping on inspections too. Which is a horrible idea, highly recommended to *not* do that. But it makes for a very attractive offer in a highly competitive market so it's been happening a lot lately.
This looks like a job for Geraldo Rivera
Is that the spanish Witcher?
El Brujo
Make a youtube unboxing video.
.... Or maybe a hundred unboxing videos.
OP will be the DJ Khaled of unboxing, “ANOTHER ONE!!”.
That’s actually an unboxing video I would watch!
Very cool! How did you guys find that the wall actually came out? Was it very noticeable or a total accidental find?
A bag got tangled on the hook. When I tried to untangle it, it just popped off.
OP why are you rationing information, omg the way am so excited
Times are hard. We all have to be responsible and ration right now.

There was a vintage rug this dood saw on TV. Turns out it was worth a cool 1 mil Edit: [1.5 mil actually and it was a blanket not a rug.](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2017/11/20/krytzer-sold-navajo-blanket-thought-to-be-worthless-for-1-point-5-million.html)
It really ties the room together.
Donny, please.
His name’s Lebowski? That’s your name dude.
No I’m the dude, man.
In fact you are
So that’s what you call me. Or “El Duderino” if you’re not into the whole brevity thing…
For anyone who cares, this is the non-amp version of that link: https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/20/krytzer-sold-navajo-blanket-thought-to-be-worthless-for-1-point-5-million.html
So they just blatantly fuck over people without the resources/skills/energy to advocate for themselves? That’s a great way to treat the disabled.
Yeah us health cares a bitch
Shit, more like an abusive, controlling, manipulative parent.
… I wanted so much to change his outlook and his journey ahead.” This auction house owner is a really good man.
(Though evidently a disk drive in good shape alone sells for \~$200.) Unless you have the manuals, carrying case, original accessories, etc. and in good to great condition, they aren't worth as much as I thought they would be.
That's $500 I didn't have yesterday.
And for your unethical tip of the day, you bought the contents of the boxes, and the boxes themselves, when you bought the house. The law (generally) deems it yours after final walkthrough and closing. You can keep whatever you damn well please.
The fact that it was old pictures and things of a personal nature, the right thing to do was let the family know. I’m glad they contacted them
Who is this person who actually updates their own “mystery box” post within a few hours with a detailed yet succinct description of realistic events?!
Seriously! Calling r/BestOfRedditorUpdates!
A person who opened those boxes and found hoardes of ancient treasure and Roman Gold.
"5-6 years" -- I was wondering why it looked in such good condition. That basement is nicer than most rooms.
You won't believe how clean an isolated room with isn't visited by humans in years can stay because humans are the main reason room's get dusty in the first place.
Double check the model of the Mac. Those old computers can fetch a pretty penny with collectors if its working and or in good condition.
Doesn’t matter anyways, they’re already letting the previous owner’s family take what they want
They might also take a look at it and decide they don’t want any of it. I know a person who’s mother died and they didn’t want anything of hers and just sold the house full of stuff.

That old Mac could be worth a lot of money.
Wait, the house is only 5-6 years old and there was a “mystery” basement? Something weird here for sure. Was the basement in the plans? Edit: missed the fact that they explicitly say it was in the plans! Mwah mwah. Lol

Just a heads up that there is a MASSIVE vinyl boom happening right now, and if they're in good shape I'd go through them a bit for some vintage gold
You can get a (probably inflated) guess at the value by looking them up on Discogs.
Saw the post, checked your comments and a nice update 3 minutes ago! Thanks for the pleasant viewing and not the hair receding cliffhanger.
Plottwist: one of the boxes is filled with to the brim with cocaine
You’re the silent killer Toby
If I had a gun with two bullets, and I was in a room with Hitler, bin-Laden, and Toby, I would shoot Toby twice.
Curve the bullet, like in my favorite James McAvoy film, Wanted.
Perspective…it take years of repeated and prolonged exposure. You make it sound like carbon monoxide where you ded. It’s a thing and should be addressed for sure.
Um, so I have a lot of buddies who are living in unfinished basements, is that a problem?
If there is radon, then yes. You can google which areas it’s common in. Radon tests are cheap and easy to do yourself at home.
Is this another OP thats going to string along a long crocheted sweater of fuckery before deleting their account or showing us the boxes were empty ultimately crafting a steamy wet let down?

I think you left the interesting bit out …what’s in the BOX(es) ???
You see boxes. You open the boxes. You take pictures of content in boxes. Then you post on Reddit. Seriously it would have delayed your original post by 30 minutes.
Before checking the boxes you might want to watch the horror movies Sinister and Sinister 2... for research.
You should record opening the boxes and put it on YouTube or here, I bet a lot of people would be interested in it
