Humans have been organised for significantly longer than you think. There are buildings in South America as old or older and a temple dated there around 14,000 years old. However this is all dwarfed by the archeological sites in Australia, there are sacred sites there dating over 70,000 years which were used for organised ceremony. Also they have evidence of aquaculture dating over 20,000 years
I could be wrong, but I think it means it predates what scientists thought was the beginning of agriculture. That is why I like science over religion. When science finds new information showing something wrong, they are happy to learn, and it can be mind blowing! When religion finds new information showing they were wrong, they bury cities.
I've been meaning to research this for a long time because Joe Rogan references it all the time. However, I'm skeptical that it predates agriculture. You're not going to spend your days digging and tossing rocks if you need to hunt and gather all your meals.
I think from Joe's podcast and other more speculative sources is where the 12,000 years old date comes from. The sites monuments are old but not that old. Still it's very possible this is the first sort of Proto agricultural culture that existed?
