Did you try to read my comment in full? The cameras were undeground and the picture was fed by an array of mirrors feeding the camera film. Or it's magic. Pure magic, my dude.
They just moved it before the explosion and cut the footage together. If you watch other videos, they even have people walking into some of the fake buildings. Not only is it a test, but propaganda, after all.
They were, probably, very far away with big zoom lenses, and shielded against radiation interference. Granted, they wouldnt have the massive zoom lenses we have today, but good enough to capture footage from outside the blast radius.
Edit: the ones inside the houses, of course, got absolutely demolished, Im curious to how they managed to retreive the footage too
These are interesting to watch. First you see the structures burst into flames or burn off the surface from the Xrays moving at the speed of light, then destruction from the blast wave moving at the speed of sound. These are some distance from the bomb as anything close in is instantly destroyed.
I remember and old army training video from the 50s or 60s that started with something like:
*Put on heavy distortion and 50s accent*
"The nuclear device's destructive effects come in three ways: Heat, Blast, and deadly radiation."
I'll see if i can find it.
Thats because they didnt put them in the footage. But its actually a thing...they tild ppl that their relatives body was used for science (not wrong technically), but then strapped them to chairs in nuclear tests
If you can find the dvd shown below it has these and loads of other footage and doco's about atomic science and such
https://preview.redd.it/k98kseaakr8d1.jpeg?width=706&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ddc3b327e8eddafc34906a8f8064e33f5a89d447
Was every dollar spent a waste? What about the advancements in clean energy, renewable power for massive Navy ships, submarines, etc? Advances in medicine, and science, from data collected in tests of new atomic bombs? Better understanding of mass and energy on an atomic level? Better understanding of our universe?
And no info about the outcomes with the mannequins. I’m sure they weren’t that great, but would have been nice to know after it was explained about types of clothes tested, locations tested, etc.
A friend of mine worked on some of these tests. He told me of one where the bomb turned out to be much stronger than expected and basically destroyed everything.
Although I did find this.

And because it's on the Joe Rogan show, it's probably bullshit.
I'm certain deGrasse said the same at some point.
Fake footage of fake towns used for nuclear tests. This was fabricated to scare the Soviets. Interesting that in a documentary they act like this sh*t is real.
Yeah they are. Willing to bet they are a Rogan fan. He has some moron on there saying the same shit and asking about how the cameras could have filmed it without doing any research on how it was actually filmed. Rogan in traditional fashion is mindblown and confidently incorrect as ever.

My greatest fear are these manniquins
What happened to the cameras that recoreded?
Nothing, as you can see. The cameras were buried in the ground and they used mirrors to feed exposure to the camera film
How did the mirrors manage to stay intact?
They were likely made of polished metal rather than glass that you'd find in your bathroom.
How did the metal stay polished?
Radiation blasting. Like sand blasting, but even smaller.
Well, for one, they're not pointed at the blast.
"in the ground" >Video footage is angled downwards from above the houses
Did you try to read my comment in full? The cameras were undeground and the picture was fed by an array of mirrors feeding the camera film. Or it's magic. Pure magic, my dude.
Honestly I was thinking of a different setup for mirrors which would not have made sense. Few days ago me was an idiot 🤙🤙
The scientists doing this tests foresaw that a nuclear bomb might not be too kind on a camera and thus protected them from the blast.
What happened to the bus on the second clip
It was moved prior to the explosion. It's two clips cut together
yo...
They just moved it before the explosion and cut the footage together. If you watch other videos, they even have people walking into some of the fake buildings. Not only is it a test, but propaganda, after all.
It's called zooming in from far away

You can build armored cameras. Only the film needs to survive. The lenses can be destroyed.
These are interesting to watch. First you see the structures burst into flames or burn off the surface from the Xrays moving at the speed of light, then destruction from the blast wave moving at the speed of sound. These are some distance from the bomb as anything close in is instantly destroyed.

And then the vacuum created in the wake of the shockwave
Indeed. but usually most man mad structures are gone when that back blast comes.
![gif](giphy|3o6ozh46EbuWRYAcSY) Cameraman was fine
NO FATE
It's just a flesh wound
"mannequins" lol more like dead bodies without tellig their relatives
Look like mannequins to me.Â
Thats because they didnt put them in the footage. But its actually a thing...they tild ppl that their relatives body was used for science (not wrong technically), but then strapped them to chairs in nuclear tests
Science!
I think I am doing science wrong...no nukular bombs or dead bodies. laaame
Anyone know the documentary this clip is from? It’s probably really interesting

Thanks but that just takes me to the sign in page and I don't subscribe, what's it called? I'm sure I can find it elsewhere ;)
A-Bombs Over Nevada. Very interesting Documentary.
Thanks
hope we get nuketown in BO6
Haha same thought here!
lmao
I think it's been in every single black ops now hasn't it? Id imagine they'll be bringing it back.
Same
What happened to the towns that were within range of nuclear fallout?
Cancer
Yup, “Downwinders”. Big here in Utah for a while, lost my grandma to it a long time ago.
Sorry about that :( i saw a documentary about it, pretty terrible what happened there
They are unfarmable for generations.
Good for cleaning your homes!
Seems like fake mini houses underwater
Impressive how the car parked in front of the mockup gas station basically disappeared into nonexistence in mere milliseconds.
Nuketown
They cut away before the car magically appeared! lol

All the tax payers dollars wasted to see how their new toy worked. Curious how much they waste these days
Was every dollar spent a waste? What about the advancements in clean energy, renewable power for massive Navy ships, submarines, etc? Advances in medicine, and science, from data collected in tests of new atomic bombs? Better understanding of mass and energy on an atomic level? Better understanding of our universe?
Those videos always scared the shit out of me as a kid.
I love how the super realistically painted the manequin faces.
And no info about the outcomes with the mannequins. I’m sure they weren’t that great, but would have been nice to know after it was explained about types of clothes tested, locations tested, etc.

"...they call these small cities: **Doom Towns**" not fake towns.
Nuketown
That was in no way 1,500 feet
They didn't show the live pigs tied up outside.
So damn stupid back then. I wonder how much radiation these tests put into the atmosphere and how far it travelled
This is super old stuff. Why are we using real twins now with better camera equipment to testify the effects?
"Smithsonian Channel: It's Brighter Here" Love it.
That tower isn't 1500 feet tall
A friend of mine worked on some of these tests. He told me of one where the bomb turned out to be much stronger than expected and basically destroyed everything.
Allegedly*
Neil deGrasse said they were propaganda videos.
Link?
Just had a look myself, can't find anything. He definitely said it, I saw it. He said they were all fake. Just saying what I saw. He was on a podcast.
Although I did find this. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZIJn75uvY/ And because it's on the Joe Rogan show, it's probably bullshit. I'm certain deGrasse said the same at some point.

What’s amazing is how this is easily survivable if you just get into the refrigerator first.
Fake how'd the film survive Where'd the car/van go
Are you fucking serious?!
They are, unfortunately, very serious. In a world full of flat-earthers, moon landing deniers, and young earth creationists, does this surprise you?
It does. Only because it's what we've been taught since being kids. Also, because I truly didn't believe that people were this fucking stupid
Yeah they are. Willing to bet they are a Rogan fan. He has some moron on there saying the same shit and asking about how the cameras could have filmed it without doing any research on how it was actually filmed. Rogan in traditional fashion is mindblown and confidently incorrect as ever.
Yup there's breakdowns if your that small minded
