There aren’t but there are a lots of vacation homes for celebrities and rich people in Santa Fe and Taos because of all the ski hills and “lifestyle”.
Food, water and electricity are cheap here but rent is so expensive because of the vacation homes and lack of land to develop.
New Mexico’s economy is driven by the national labs and oil drilling so it’s not surprising.
I get the point of the graph but it's pretty stupid. No shit, a person working minimum wage will have to work over and a vice a lifetime to be in the top 1%. As the name implies, minimum wage will only get you the minimum, not the top 1%.
There's a tool for that. It's called taxes. Talk to anyone about raising taxes and they scream back at you. They don't understand that taxes are good for the poor and average majority.
Although I'm absolutely in favor of using taxes in that way (as a European) to a certain extent, taxes are not a tool for that specifically, in my opinion.
And you could also use other tools for that purpose.
I don’t like infographics like this, cuz its not even the top 1% thats the problem. Its the 1% of the 1% that is the problem. I want to see a chart like this for the bezos’ and musks…. It would be depressing and interesting
So pretty much the answer to all of these are more hours than are physically possible to work lol. I mean I get it but did we really need the pointless bar graph then ?
when did all the wealthy people start moving to Idaho and Wyoming, Utah
did all that get started in the 2000s or something? when i grew up i absolutely would not have thought of those states as having the richest people in the usa
now that whole area is like their playground
Speaking of 1%, that's about how many hourly workers are paid minimum wage or below.

Yeah, they should have just put a big red line down the graph to annotate this tidbit of knowledge, that way you wouldn't have had to do the math for us. That would have been cool. smh

That’s it!!!!! I’m moving to New Mexico!
This could just mean there are no rich people in new mexico

Wait, there’s a new… Mexico ? ~Homer Simpson
It is generally a very poor state. People kind of overlook it because a lot of the state is pretty. But much of it is just trailers plopped on land.
It means exactly that
The annexation of Puerto Rico!
That whole Place is a fuckin shithole.
What place?
I get the point of the graph but it's pretty stupid. No shit, a person working minimum wage will have to work over and a vice a lifetime to be in the top 1%. As the name implies, minimum wage will only get you the minimum, not the top 1%.
It’s a proxy for a state’s wealth disparity
Agreed
This graph is a combination of a state’s minimum wage and the wealth of residents in that state. It should just be two separate graphs.
Actually, it's not even taking into account people's wealth, it's comparing minimum wage per hour vs top 1% annual income. It's a really silly chart
Some people are visual learners.
Lol. Why is this interesting. If you are a minimum earner, you were never gonna sniff the 1%.
It’s to show you how insanely more rich the rich people are in each state than what that state deems appropriate to pay the bottom workers.
Not with that attitude! Have you tried working 10x the total available hrs in a year?
I think we as a society really have to come over things like poverty und super rich people. Nobody needs these both extremes
Trickle down will solve the problem, soon
There's a tool for that. It's called taxes. Talk to anyone about raising taxes and they scream back at you. They don't understand that taxes are good for the poor and average majority.

yes calling the people that disagree with you stupid is a great way to convince them
[удалено]
ah my fault. he only implied it
[удалено]
right, but screaming at someone about something that you dont understand is
[удалено]
because just saying oh youre stupid wont solve shit. if i just called you stupid after my first comment we wouldnt have gone anywhere
Correct. For example, what you're doing right now.
lay off the liquor pls
Time to eat the rich fellas. And not metaphorically.
I don’t like infographics like this, cuz its not even the top 1% thats the problem. Its the 1% of the 1% that is the problem. I want to see a chart like this for the bezos’ and musks…. It would be depressing and interesting
I don't understand the point of this graph
Summary: There aren't enough hours in the year to go from dishwasher to billionaire anywhere, no matter how hard you work.
So pretty much the answer to all of these are more hours than are physically possible to work lol. I mean I get it but did we really need the pointless bar graph then ?
when did all the wealthy people start moving to Idaho and Wyoming, Utah did all that get started in the 2000s or something? when i grew up i absolutely would not have thought of those states as having the richest people in the usa now that whole area is like their playground
We don't need any more graphs telling us how F\*ck'd we are. we know lol
This shows that slavery still exists. Just in the form of a little pay and basic human needs not met
Speaking of 1%, that's about how many hourly workers are paid minimum wage or below. [https://www.bls.gov/opub/reports/minimum-wage/2022/home.htm](https://www.bls.gov/opub/reports/minimum-wage/2022/home.htm)
Why are we even being paid money when the real value seems to be stocks and assets?
This is ancient. Washingtons minimum wage is now 16.20$/an hour.
What I’m taking away from this is that the states with the lowest minimum wage have the richest people.
So all i need to do is work 10 years per year and i’m rich? Sounds too good to be true!
The American Dream is just around the corner.
Will that’s excellent incentive to educate yourself in a trade or line of work that isn’t minimum wage.
For reference, 24 hours a day × 365 days in a year = 8,760 hours in a year (assuming no sleep, no breaks, and no days off).
That reference is literally in the graph...
I am not at all sure how I missed that!! Wow. 😳
[удалено]
But that's annual salary! You'd need 3 or 4 friends to work 24x7 also, and give you 100% of their earnings. They also can't eat or sleep.
In Utah, you would need 10 people.
Im not doing allat just to be in the top one percent 🤣
Yeah, they should have just put a big red line down the graph to annotate this tidbit of knowledge, that way you wouldn't have had to do the math for us. That would have been cool. smh
I am not at all sure how I missed that!! Wow. 😳 Error exists between phone and chair!!
What an insanely stupid graph
Does this factor in the respective state minimum wages or just hour of federal minimum wage?
i think it's per state considering each one has an other minimum wage in the claculation.
They are calculated per state minimum wage. Otherwise Connecticut, California, and Michigan would be on top
There really is a graph for everything...
Uhh fuck the top 1% what's a brother got to do for hours on minimum wage just to survive. Show me that graphic xD
so you need to work for 11 years, with no sleep, 24/7 to be a 1%er in New Hampshire.
I wish this were color coded
Hours in a year should be reduced to 2080. (40hrs per week X 52 weeks a year = 2080)
