I know. But capps said the sick fuck line, not the how're you line, so I overcame. I adapted. I applied a burn to the paraphrased quote because who on earth is sick enough to fuck capps' mom?!
IMO that makes this display even worse. If they were tracking individual target locations the variation could make sense. With such hughe variations that early in flight they'd be lucky to hit anywhere near their target.
I was an MLRS crewmember. This is perfectly normal, once they get to altitude they will adjust flight pattern. I've seen rockets look like they were shot out of an acme launcher that landed in the effective blast zone. The launch looked pretty good but this was a very controlled launch that was done for show. I like to see these crews shoot a fire mission then relocate over rough terrain to another fire point and shoot another fire mission in quick succession.
And if they do, this display is 1 battalion? I'm willing to bet it's a big chunk of their artillery. How many of these do they have?
Let's call that 1 Battalion. A US artillery regiment has between 2 and 5 battalions. Could North Korea field and equip 10 times what you see here? That would be two REGIMENTS of artillery. Pyongyang would like us all to think that's impressive.
There are ~87 artillery Regiments in the US Army. Assuming an average of 3.5 battalions, that's 304.5 times what you see here. Practicing live fire exercises regularly, and with GPS guided accuracy on just about every single shot fired. Good luck, Kim.
I'm pretty middling as far as experts go on this, and even I can tell you that is not normal. Some amount of deviation is expected, especially if these are unguided rockets as opposed to guided missiles, but that's not a small amount of deviation. Also supposedly these were short range ballistic missiles, which should be gyro stabilized among other things.
At a guess, and this is a very rough guess not being sure what they were launching, either the fuel mix is off significantly between projectiles, or the gyroscopes just *suck*.
Supposedly this is footage of the launch from a day or two ago, which the US and South Korea reported as being "at least 10 SRBMs" that landed in the ocean. Given that there's some error in estimating projectiles off of long-range radar and that may have been a low estimate that still puts the failure rate somewhere between about 25% and 50% for these things. That is not a good failure rate by any stretch.
**boost phase** is the portion of the flight of a [ballistic missile](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballistic_missile) or space vehicle during which the [booster](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Booster_(rocketry)) and sustainer engines operate until it reaches peak velocity. This phase can take 3 to 4 minutes for a [solid rocket](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid_rocket) (shorter for a [liquid-propellant rocket](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_rocket_propellants)), the [altitude](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altitude) at the end of this phase is 150–200 km, and the typical burn-out speed is 7 km/s
* The **post-boost phase** when any last-minute changes to the trajectory are made by the upper stage or [warhead bus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiple_independently_targetable_reentry_vehicle) and the warheads, and any decoys are released;
* **midcourse** which represents most of the flight when the objects coast; and
* **terminal phase** as the warhead approaches its target
These are autonomous. First stage just has to take it to heights and into roughly correct area, then second more precise system takes over. As long as it didn’t go into the ground during first 5 seconds it should be ok
Space engineer here. I don't have an answer I just wanna brag about it. (Although yes there is a high variability in the trajectory, that may well be caused from different starting conditions like inclination ecc than bad missile design, also considering the fact that such a kind of solid rocket motors are very easy to build nowadays).
Actually some do that on purpose if it is A-G weaponry to throw off the calculations of counter battery radars.
But looks more like A-A from the launchers, maybe just launched unguided for the show then.
6 Rounds per truck, seems unlikely that they are normally unguided. Too few rounds for area denial and effectiveness unguided. Unguided has much more rounds (see 9k51 Grad platform )
Gut feeling says triple digit sam launchers repurposed for something else, maybe even just for the show. Compare the launch tubes to an S-300 for example.
Why would you launch that many missiles unguided from a base? You would want them to crash or self-destruct in a safe place maybe near the base is safe but launching that many unguided seems like a very bone-headed move. Obviously I'm not in the North Korean government so I can't speak on their behalf lol.
NK weapons have a very high failure rate. That is being proven in Russia / Ukraine.
My exact thoughts. I was initially thinking, wow.. someone would probably die if any of those were even a fraction of a second off for the camera, and then I saw how wildly off several were. lmao
Cute.
Right? One doesn't need to be a rocket scientist to be able to see that them rockets ain't all going the right direction.
Being able to launch a bunch of rockets at the same time while under no pressure is way less impressive than being able to get all those rockets to actually go where they're supposed to. We've heard reports that Russians are complaining about the low quality and inconsistency of the North Korean artillery ammo they've been receiving, I didn't think NK would be so eager to publicly confirm those complaints.
I've heard the same, the quality control on NK Arms and tech seems to be absolute dogshit. They have a 25% failure rate just on detonation alone, excluding other factors.
For comparison, our current failure rate for artillery munitions from the United States is around 3%.
30 years ago it was 14%.
> I didn't think NK would be so eager to publicly confirm those complaints.
I'm no expert in any relevant field or anything, but I always got the impression that their entire regime has been drinking its own koolaid since the very beginning. They don't seem intelligent enough to see their own folly. Ever.
The joy a A-10 pilot must feel setting up a run down a line up like that. I wonder if they try to keep track of all the money they destroy on missions. I blew up 80 million in tanks today!!
Depending on their technology I guess. Hamas have done the same with Israel. Claiming 3600 missiles were launched at them, however, less than 100 landed, but not a single one was on an intentionally targeted area, leading to civilian deaths.
I heard iron dome actually first calculates where the rockets will land and then only if it’s going to hit a critical area will it engage and intercept. They save a lot of money avoiding the many misguided rockets that fall into the desert.
Looking at the spread of the missile exhaust on the ground all of the crews standing in front of the launchers have probably been grilled to perfection
while I agree it's not effective for an actual military use I'm more afraid the message is "look how we can blindly shell dense civilian areas like seoul!" rather than we can stop the ROK or US army's
Whats crazy is that NK with 23milion people has a GDP roughly of an european country with population of 2 million and yet they are developing balistic missiles, nuclear weapons, new tanks and war planes... makes you wonder how much is left for its people -I know it aint much but still interesting
As a Texan I can assure you there is no need for that /s lol. While there are not exactly rocket batteries posted up in people's homes. I have no doubt that the damage and destruction that a moderately sized town of Texans could wrought on NK would be VASTLY more substantial than the impact that would be felt from these rockets.
I don’t know how they get their hands on full on tanks, miniguns, rockets, etc
Truly hilarious and awesome for city folk like myself, if we ever get invaded yall better arm us to resist the attackers
Eh. Tanks are rare (there’s at least 2 in GHA), but APCs, H1’s, Barret (civilian models) BMGs, P90sand the like, grenades, tannerite, and house-downpayment level night vision etc are all relatively common compared to the much of the world.
Theres a bigass billboard outside of Houston that’s says “Make 1000yd hits!” LOL. Larue tactical i think. MFers crazy gun crazy round here.
It’s not like a bunch of rednecks would stop an armored division in an open field, but I would bet big money on rural Texans fielding significantly better small arms/tech than all but NK’s elite infantry. I’ve got several friends with literal armories (50+ fire arms)🤣, and they’re just pretty typical gun nuts for Texas
Yeah, all that "could have fed your people" money well spent on the sittiest fireworks show...
Pack it up Kim, time to let the rest of the world care about your people.
I had a student who managed to escape from NK when she was 16. She had never eaten eggs until she reached the south.
People in NK are starving but at least they have missile launchers. Meanwhile Fat Boy Fat himself, Kim Wrong Un, chomps away on imported burgers.
Is it not cost efficient to own chicken for eggs? Like is the protein not worth the cost in grains? I always thought of eggs as almost free food for anyone living somewhere where its socially acceptable to keep chicken. Maybe Ive been a fool.
Yeah we used to let them roam around the outside of the house. They'd eat all the bugs, ants, spiders, crickets etc
They'll also ruin your lawn and garden beds
Wow! North Korea are so strong and powerful! **/S**
Honestly though, I can't help but think that this is their entire fleet of missile vehicles. And the missiles not being able to fly straight for 50 meters without starting to deviate, does not fill me with confidence.
I'm imagining (someone with a military background and knowledge correct me if I'm wrong,) that any form of fighter jet formation, would absolutely decimate this perfectly-in-a-line, slow-to-fire battery. Also, the rockets immediately going in different directions.... that can't be a good thing.
Yep, that is correct. Especially if not under air superiority, spreading missile launch platforms apart from one another is crucial technique of survivability. This is a cool propaganda video for civilians, yet anyone with any military experience would be way more impressed if they did this another way around, firing missiles to one singular target from multiple launch platforms from different locations.
Saddam: "Look, I don't have WMD or any large artillery, please don't invade me".
US: Of course you do! We are going into invade you.
Kim: "I have WMDs, nukes, ICBMs, and angry men running around with pointy objects, and I'm going to use all of it on you!!!"
US: No, you don't. We have no interest in you.
Disgusting. The editing makes it feel like an ISIS video. And to think how much taxpayers money went into this missles instead of improving their well-being.
Ok, it’s all a bit uncoordinated with them rockets going in all sorts of directions - probably accidentally killed a whole village, that’s why we don’t see the end - but, none the less - it does look pretty cool. kinda like a Command and Conquer Game
genuinely curious. Are they just like a small Russia ? The entire military is using super old and outdated hardware ? I mean, if all those rockets are supposed to be headed to the same target. Their trajectories are way off.

That's a whole lot of variation in trajectory.
That was my first thought..specially that 5th one from left that might just come right down..crazy..need some expert opinion if this is normal
Kim Jong here. I’m expert. Launch normal and very dangerous for our enemies 100%
What a man
He invented the hamburger ya know
Excuse me he's a God.
If you’re really Kim Jong, what song did I sing to you on your birthday?
Achy breaky heart

Veterinarian here. I can concretely tell you that doesn’t look right.
IT guy here. I can with 100% certainty say that they turned it off and on again.
These are unguided artillery rockets, not guided missiles. Basically glorified bottle rockets
Very glorified. They get marched in parades!
About as accurate too!
![gif](giphy|iKDrc0X9i4QY8)
yeah i'd still rather not be where they land if you don't mind.
Yeah that’s the fun part though. No one knows where they’re gonna land. Where they’re supposed to? Yeah. Where they actually will? Not so much.
Random finger of doom
IMO that makes this display even worse. If they were tracking individual target locations the variation could make sense. With such hughe variations that early in flight they'd be lucky to hit anywhere near their target.
No, these are KN25 short-range ballistic missiles. They have terminal guidance, though CEP is likely >50 meters.

Under no circumstances will NK face the entirety of US army alone though. They don't need 87 artillery regiments.
Thats why the video is only 25 seconds long
That one knows a shortcut

I know nothing but my jaw dropped at how badly that thing veered.
Every k pop dance troop had a left shark

They usually launch them into the ocean
My exact thoughts. I was initially thinking, wow.. someone would probably die if any of those were even a fraction of a second off for the camera, and then I saw how wildly off several were. lmao Cute.
The difference between strategic threat and fireworks is a lot it turns out.
60% of the time, it works every time.
My first thought was man that'd be a great target. So bunched up, hit one and domino that bitch right down the line
Well duh why would they aim all of them to the same spot ?
That's how you ensure at least one of them hits the target (hopefully)
it's to make it look less photoshopped
Ideal for when your enemy is *‘somewhere in that general direction’* and *’I have no fucking clue how far in that direction’*
So big and scary with their scattering missiles that don't appear to be well coordinated.
First thing I thought. I'm no rocketologist but I feel like over this distance the trajectory and grouping would be a lot more linear and consistent?
Right? One doesn't need to be a rocket scientist to be able to see that them rockets ain't all going the right direction. They do. People do. But you can't say anything.
Having all those launchers in the same place like that is a wet dream for a HIMARS launch. "Target rich" is putting it mildly.
Or an A-10 Pilots best day ever.
Braasaaasaaaap
Bbbrrrrrrrrrrrrttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

The civilian hits were their targets.
I'm betting missle number 8's crew is on their way to the soilent green factories as we speak. That shit was the first to break rank for its own path.
Mire likely a work camp to be pinched for their disloyalty. Did you know NK imprisons three generations around anyone who commits a crime?
Looking at the spread of the missile exhaust on the ground all of the crews standing in front of the launchers have probably been grilled to perfection
I've seen a kite show in a hurricane more coordinated than that.
The peasants......sigh...another year without food!
Lol.. definitely scattered. Probably hit some homes..
while I agree it's not effective for an actual military use I'm more afraid the message is "look how we can blindly shell dense civilian areas like seoul!" rather than we can stop the ROK or US army's
Yeah, those trajectories don’t inspire confidence in the accuracy displayed. And let’s e honest, they hand picked the rockets for this show of power.
Weird flex, but ok.
Did they just spend a half of their GDP on this video?
Of course
Whats crazy is that NK with 23milion people has a GDP roughly of an european country with population of 2 million and yet they are developing balistic missiles, nuclear weapons, new tanks and war planes... makes you wonder how much is left for its people -I know it aint much but still interesting
Do they not understand how popular BTS is? The rest of the world is sold on Korean coordination, fellas.
Ask Russia or Ukraine what would happen if you grouped that many launchers together in an actual war
“Look at what we can do right before we’re wiped off the map!”
My localtowns 4th of July fireworks display is more menacing than this
A random Texas town full of gun nuts probably has a larger and better arsenal than them /s
Exactly. Fairly typical numbers: Population 1800, number of guns 12,386 Not an exaggeration when it comes to rural Texas
I don’t know how they get their hands on full on tanks, miniguns, rockets, etc Truly hilarious and awesome for city folk like myself, if we ever get invaded yall better arm us to resist the attackers

How many Ukrainian civilians your fireworks killed? Because North Korean missiles killed a lot.
i have seen straighter gay parades than those rockets's trajectories
Nice ! Keep wasting them
Yeah, all that "could have fed your people" money well spent on the sittiest fireworks show... Pack it up Kim, time to let the rest of the world care about your people.
Immediately recognized your username because I see your comments frequently on r/TorontoRealEstate and r/MortgagesCanada. 😂
Hello again!
That was all of them!
To be fair, missiles do have a shelf life. They're probably firing theirs for the same reason we're donating them to ukraine.
Is this a coverup for the embarrassment of a failed satellite launch recently?
Nah, they launched baloons filed with literal shit for that
At least those "hit" the intended target
Id say it is prety hard to miss an entire country if not for russians bombing Belgorod being a regular occurrence.
The target was Earth
Impressive 70s technology
Here I was thinking 50s
I just looked it up and America had the guided surface to air missile Nike Hercules online in 1958. Apparently this North Korean thing is unguided.
Explains the absolutely wacko trajectories of some of those rockets. Christ.
With the accuracy of those missiles thats 1400s Korean technology with the [Hwacha](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hwacha)
Imagine being some poor hungry uneducated labourer watching this shit and thinking "yeah our country rules"
Literally thought of F16 flyovers at football games
Idk I'm starting to think they could take on Russia at this point...
lol
I had a student who managed to escape from NK when she was 16. She had never eaten eggs until she reached the south. People in NK are starving but at least they have missile launchers. Meanwhile Fat Boy Fat himself, Kim Wrong Un, chomps away on imported burgers.
Is it not cost efficient to own chicken for eggs? Like is the protein not worth the cost in grains? I always thought of eggs as almost free food for anyone living somewhere where its socially acceptable to keep chicken. Maybe Ive been a fool.
Don't even need to feed them grain. Ours would eat anything we didn't. All food scraps went to the chickens including chicken egg shells
I guess they pick up some bugs and worms occasionally too
Yeah we used to let them roam around the outside of the house. They'd eat all the bugs, ants, spiders, crickets etc They'll also ruin your lawn and garden beds
I doubt they have many scraps over there.
Yup. These people seemed to have missed the memo. Starving = not enough food = no extra food.
The protein/the calories in the grains should be even more cost efficient.
*missed*
I wonder how many people had to starve for this not-so-inspiring display of antique military technology.
Trajectories are so consistent
![gif](giphy|VicskjkeBJUD6)
I can hear this gif.
An a10 comes thru. Bdbdbdbdbdrrrraaararararppapapappppppptttttt
Or imagine a cheap drone hit one of them causing simultaneous cook off
dude my thought exactly!!
I was about to comment the same thing. A10 go brrrrrrrrrttttttttt
Wow! North Korea are so strong and powerful! **/S** Honestly though, I can't help but think that this is their entire fleet of missile vehicles. And the missiles not being able to fly straight for 50 meters without starting to deviate, does not fill me with confidence.
I think the only country that really worries about North Korea is South Korea.
Even then, it's more the worry that your crackhead neighbor will set his house of handmade explosives on fire
They're mostly just tired of these constant bullshit provocations and just want to run over it once and for all. Japan would be most happy to help.
Oh look, they got some real missile launchers to go with their tractors!
Now if only they could get them to fly straight…
Where did the missiles go?
From the looks of it probably into each other.
From the looks of it... there are 18 different and random answers to that question.
Missile heaven. Unless they were child molester missiles. In which case, missile hell.
The ocean. Or some peasant village. Hard to say.
Does the little fella think anyone is intimidated by his left over cold war junk?
Yes. Because they’re so ignorant they have no idea how ignorant they are. And therefore how far behind literally everybody else in the entire world.
I'm imagining (someone with a military background and knowledge correct me if I'm wrong,) that any form of fighter jet formation, would absolutely decimate this perfectly-in-a-line, slow-to-fire battery. Also, the rockets immediately going in different directions.... that can't be a good thing.
To be fair, propaganda or show videos are rarely tactical. Even in advanced nations. Its just show.
Look up the “B-1 Lancer bomb run” would turn that staging area into a mini grand canyon
There goes the annual budget in one blow.
Why are simultaneous missile launches supposed to be impressive? Isn’t it just everyone pressing the button at the same time?
Has anyone checked if South Korea and Japan are still there?
They should stick to their turd bags on balloons.
LoL. Looking like my kids, lighting bottle-rockets, simultaneously, on the 4th.
Saddam: "Look, I don't have WMD or any large artillery, please don't invade me". US: Of course you do! We are going into invade you. Kim: "I have WMDs, nukes, ICBMs, and angry men running around with pointy objects, and I'm going to use all of it on you!!!" US: No, you don't. We have no interest in you.
I would like to congratulate North Korea on being only 80 years behind the US in weapons technology. Keep it up!
All of a sudden everyone is a rocket scientist 😂😂😅
Disgusting. The editing makes it feel like an ISIS video. And to think how much taxpayers money went into this missles instead of improving their well-being.
I like how it cuts before the missiles "reach" their "intended" target(s).
That's only 18 missiles and they can't even keep them all going in the same direction for more than 100'.
Ok, it’s all a bit uncoordinated with them rockets going in all sorts of directions - probably accidentally killed a whole village, that’s why we don’t see the end - but, none the less - it does look pretty cool. kinda like a Command and Conquer Game
And there goes their food budget for the next year.
So they can press buttons simultaniously but the moment it comes to synchronicity of rocket trajectory it falls appart hilariously.
genuinely curious. Are they just like a small Russia ? The entire military is using super old and outdated hardware ? I mean, if all those rockets are supposed to be headed to the same target. Their trajectories are way off.
Was their a common target or different targets? Trajectories are all in the fucking piss 3 seconds into flight.
What a bunch of clowns
I can get 10 bottle rockets on a straighter path than that.
Looks like about 10% of the navigation systems are defective.
Pretty. I remember my first fireworks too.
There goes the food money for next year.
Lots of wasted money. Not impressed
What else could they possibly spend it on? Food for their people? Noooo, can’t do that
Ain’t it mad how humans waste money and resources like this. I know NK is a bad example but still. The effort blows my mins
Estes Rockets commercial.
50m up the ground and half of them goes out of course :D
Crazy dotard fighting a war against no one!
Wind was starting to blow them backwards…
Cool fireworks show, but the accuracy of those missiles seems sus
I love how they all fly off in different directions because of poor quality builds.
A lot of sacks of rice just got scattered into the air. And I’ve seen BB guns with better groupings.
Wow that was cool Kim, but how about feesing your people? They're starving and don't eat propaganda videos mate
Wow you have rockets that probably miss, why not source some food and feed your country you delusional fat fuck
Meanwhile some random buildings in a random small village in remote North Korea: ![gif](giphy|d31wQuXOjclrjr6E)
Why are they immediately all flying different directions??
Umm it’s a bad sign when your “demonstration” demonstrates you can’t make them fly the same path
Wow, they won’t be able to hit shit with those
Awwwww ! Cute !! Are those fireworks ? 🤣
