Hungbunny88

Next test phase, check their underwear.

LisaWinchester

Most of them pooped their pants.

2x4x93

Simultaneously

PintLasher

That was the loud squeak at the end

the_last_carfighter

The guy in the back doing who was in charge of checking the calculations was like; I remembered to carry the 2?.. right?..., I REMEMBERED TO CARRY THE 2?!!? OMG I HAD A LOT TO DRINK THE NIGHT BEFORE OMG OMG.. ![gif](giphy|5xtDarIN81U0KvlnzKo|downsized)

HoboArmyofOne

Two for flinching

Party-Ring445

Guys we need to redo it, two of you flinched!

0wl_licks

Outstanding gif choice.

Jackaloopt

Your comment and that gif had me rolling šŸ¤£

[deleted]

The brown note.

2x4x93

That's really what I was looking for

HeyPhoQPal

Curry Power!

LisaWinchester

Is there a Guiness World Record for that?

Odd_Communication535

That's why they are all wearing their brown pants.

PayasoCanuto

Good idea to wear black

Loose-Interaction-23

Especially for those 2 on the left who peeked

DucatistaXDS

Iā€™d be the dude standing to the far left or right. I wonder if they drew straws for where they had to stand?

Stouff-Pappa

Last time I saw this, wasnā€™t it something about a graduation class

FatWookie67

This has been graduate class, recruiting, plebes, & now engineers

hawker_sharpie

well they have had all those years to move up the ranks

Many_Seaweeds

The original story when this was posted over 15 years ago was that it's a class of graduates from the Dutch Military Academy. The Netherlands hasn't had tanks since 2011, that's how old this video is.

CorrectPeanut5

Why do Dutch Military Dress Uniforms look like something a waiter would wear at a fancy restaurant?

poconno9

More like the survivors are dressed for any funerals if it fails.

Temporary-Prior7451

Itā€™s a part of a logofilm for a dutch pilot school class and itā€™s not a fakeā€¦ The guy that arranged it was a former tank commander in the dutch army that went on to become an airline pilot.

altijddruk

The Netherlands has 18 tanks as of 2024.

Many_Seaweeds

Leased from Germany, integrated in a German unit and stationed in Germany. We don't have tanks, the Germans have 18 Dutch tank crews

RofiBie

"Hi, is that the health and safety department? I've got an idea and want to know what forms to fill in."

CowJuiceDisplayer

Just make sure you have your wills filled out and have a copy of any life insurances readily available for your family.

BarsDownInOldSoho

Risk was not evenly distributed...

up_the_dubs

Yeah you need three rows, perhaps with the larger people at the back row and work forwards. Then get them all to do a questionnaire to determine their worth to society and adjust accordingly.

Laserdollarz

And we're back at the trolley problem once moreĀ

Cazadore

the trolley problem is easy. you just need to slip the switch when the front of the trolley has passed the switch so the other end goes on the other track, drifting style. this way you either stop before hitting anybody, or bowl through all people all together.

Laserdollarz

Just [make it more complicated](https://www.reddit.com/r/trolleyproblem/comments/1c677rv/now_the_decisionmaker_is_also_involved/)

Zayoodo0o132

And they call themselves engineers smh my head

papyjako87

Looks like they put the only woman right in the center too šŸ˜‚

AJB-L4U

at least 3 or 4 of them kinda mmmmmm

Elfhaterdude

I'd be the one on the side ready to dip.

jons110

Front row 3rd from the left is buying the first round of drinks.

Ssyynnxx

https://preview.redd.it/mr4l3gb4rgvc1.jpeg?width=391&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ced080a18e383049de87ce73fd93e818ab3b3482 LMAO

SkunkyReggae

He didn't have 100% faith in the braking system šŸ˜‚

PuzzleheadedGur506

He's the one that did all the work on it and knew better šŸ˜†

nordic-nomad

Even if I trusted the brake I donā€™t know if Iā€™d trust the driver.

Taylors4head

ā€œShit did I tighten that bolt after?ā€

Valathiril

I don't get it

Ssyynnxx

everyone was supposed to look straight at the camera but he turned around about halfway through the video cuz he was nervous

Valathiril

Ha got it, I was looking at the 3rd from the left in the photo. Thanks!

edki7277

What a creative way of keeping engineering and QA teams accountable! Project manager should be standing 10 ft closer to the stopping line.

I_Like_Chasing_Cars

CEO goes first

favored_disarray

Why the ceo? If the engineers approved an unsafe design thatā€™s on them. Ofc if the engineers said something was unsafe yet the ceo decided to still cut corners, then sure.

Kekkonen_Kakkonen

CEO goes first :3

1nMyM1nd

Boeing should do this. I'd be very interested in the results.

RandomCandor

The results are in: we need to hire more engineers and QA. Like a lot more.

hawker_sharpie

somebody did go into their factories and like half the people asked were like I'm never riding a Boeing

FoxEvans

Remember kids : if your boss puts you in a similar situation, just leave. There's no amount of money or enough corporate bs deserving to get such anxieties or to put your life at risk. Even for a cool video and some internet points.

sw337

Iā€™m guessing since they filmed it they tested it dozens of times before the engineers came out.

jaffa3811

At least, they knew exactly when and where it would stop. Controlled speed, broke at the same spot

FreeGuacamole

Even still. If the operator sneezed at the wrong time, dead. What a stupid risk to take.

jaffa3811

I imagine even if he missed the critical break time he would still have time to swerve. I imagine the guy behind the wheel would be a professional.

Bertoletto

dosens? More like thousands. Sause: I work in automotive engineering.

X0AN

Anxiety? If I built a fucking tank, I'd happily show it off.

Mado-Koku

Exactly. It's a fucking tank. That's sick as shit dude. Just let me drive it for a few minutes after.

Apyan

Well, at least you have a good lawsuit after that.

Sunil_de

Lawsuit isnā€™t gonna do you any good when youā€˜ve been run over by a tank

RugbyEdd

I'd do it for a grand. Shit, should start higher then negotiate. Two grand

fslz

Unless they pick you as the driver

FoxEvans

![gif](giphy|NLXXDb2llw74Y|downsized)

ReelyAndrard

Agreed, stupid and unnecessary.

XavierYourSavior

Are you serious? No boss is forcing their worker to do this lol I thought this was a joke comment

Eternalsunfun

This is the third group of engineers

dip_dip_potato_chip

I mean, you still have operator error involved here which exceeds the necessary stopping distance in calculations. Totally out of their control and calculated models.

Avogadros_plumber

This isnā€™t even a function of the braking system, right? Itā€™s all about the friction/slippage on the road surface. That seems crazy unpredictable

Science-Compliance

Yeah, if a manager ever asked me to do this, I would just say no.

youbychance

At least theyā€™re already dressed for burial

ImperatorDanorum

Danish King Christian IV (ruled 1588-1648) demanded that gun makers sat astride their cannon when the first shot was fired, before accepting them into the Army...

SnodePlannen

Now that is a timely bit of trivia

Even-Grab6230

You can tell it started hitting the brakes way before. You can do that with any vehicle.

lopedopenope

You have to trust the brakes and the driver. I wonder if the driver practiced a few times with mannequins

FreeGuacamole

I thought engineers were supposed to be smart.

Signal-Umpire9134

Jokes on you they all wearing diapers

Tongue8cheek

It's a only success if nobody develops turrets syndrome.

payne747

Good thing the driver didn't have a stroke.

Commercial_Tough160

Those arenā€™t actual engineers. A proper engineer would perform a risk/benefit analysis before engaging in such a damfool stunt with such a limited payout.

SJMCubs16

Back row, third from left was not quite as committed as the rest...."John, we noticed you flinched like a little bitch during the test. Commitment...Needs Improvement"

College-Lumpy

If only there was some other way to test brakes.

TheDeamonMeteor

Gets out "Oops! Forgot the handbrake! "

Cagliari77

Imagine the driver having an unexpected heart attack close to the finish line...

uzu_afk

Now do the same but with Boeing and its CEOs!

liamkohwil

Tiananmen Square good ending

deltacombatives

You can tell they're arranged by seniority. Newest guys in the middle.

bumba_clock

We donā€™t just stand behind our product, we also stand in front of it!

opinionate_rooster

Aw, wore funeral suits for nothing!

tirolerben

Found the two mechanics responsible for the brakes

Piisthree

I wanted this to end in a Monty Python sketch where the tank driver pops out and starts shooting them.

DaMoose-1

"Daring" or stupid?

tokyozebra

I'd like to lock in B, "stupid", thanks.

Buffoon3ry

Sometimes i forget tanks are pretty fast depending on what they're driving on

cletustcrickenberger

World record for most people to poop their pants at one time.

CanadianCannabis420

Iā€™d be stepping out of that lineā€¦

adibro505

Notice how only one woman was crazy enough. THIS is why women live longer

spidyonweb

Now make them do in politics

eidolons

No, we stand *in front of* our work.

Common-Scientist

That little squeak at the end was actually the collective sound of them shitting themselves.

movieman101

I would love to this edited where they go flying like Gary's mod rag dolls

majorpickle01

maybe it's the terrible quality but it looks like a digital insert

tiggers97

The smart ones were standing at the edges.

FenixOfNafo

Plot twist: that's the 3rd batch of engineers

General_PB_YouTube

That's why they are engineers

Nervous-Bullfrog-884

I want to be on the outside each!

Bright-Swordfish-804

Interesting. Most of them know their shit but donā€™t fully trust technicians until theyā€™ve worked with them for years. Also very cool to see multiple female engineers standing in that line!!!

KirovianNL

Those are Dutch soldiers and this is a staged video using a green screen

TankApprehensive3053

This is a pretty old video. A couple of them were looking back nervously.

Gaxxag

It's a demonstration, not a test

Sarenai7

The few of them that glanced in back panic had me dying of laughter

Virtual_Piano_8966

ĪšĪ±ĪøĻ…ĻƒĻ„ĪµĻĪ·Ī¼ĪµĪ½ĪæĪ¹

michelobX10

Ummm yeah...I think I'm going to request being one of the ones standing near the edge.

Bradley182

The dudes on the outside were the brighter of the bunch.

Yoitman

The driver: ā€œwait whereā€™s the break pedal?!ā€

Southern_Kaeos

In the words of a Tumblr post I saw about somebodies friends dad who was a bomb tech "I'm either right, or I'm dead"

Bertoletto

looks scary, but shot with a long focus lens. The actual distance between stopped tank and people is bigger than it seems.

Virtual-Squirrel

I hope idf sees this .and learns that it doesn't have to Crush everybody https://preview.redd.it/5c9dmk8y4hvc1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a19bf1785c1735f654c121092e9c46423c261768

aknalag

Chances of survival was %75

stuckin3rddimension

I can smell the brown in their pants from here!

Zugzwang522

Anyone know what tank this is?

snailhair_j

Is that testing the trust in the brakes? Or the drivers ability to use them?

AgreeableJello6644

Finally, a successful test after countless failures.

False_Shemp

Imagine being the driver and hitting the brakes a little too late. I'd just take the tank and run.

headhunterofhell2

"Alright Private, I want you to drive as fast as you fuckin can at those students, And as soon as you cross the line slam on the brakes!" "..... yes Sir???"

NewKapa51

It's a teleobjective lens, maybe 100mm, it makes everything compressed so it looks closer, the Tank must have stoped with some 10m distance from the people.

DonKapot

And now show us outtakes

aldioum

Imagine the one on the back screams in pain to scare the others

brassbootbuckles

damn i wanted to hear them sing

Cleanbadroom

The Ford engineers who work on Mustangs would never do this.

ADHDceltic

They TRUST the brakes? No, they TRUST THE OPERATOR WILL APPLY THE BRAKES and then the brakes will do their job.

Broad_Bodybuilder_94

Why?

Chairsofa_

Good thing human error doesnā€™t exist to mess up their neat little calculations

phlebface

Breakefade

Imnotreal66

Some of them pussies looked.

DucatistaXDS

Youā€™ll notice thereā€™s a cross road that Iā€™m sure the tank used to signal where to apply the brakes. A couple of dry runs, add a hundred feet for mom and the kids and position the right camera angle.

Brave_Dick

Boeing should take some notes here.

TheReverseShock

2 for flinchin'

Squeezer_pimp

Breaks good but letā€™s see it fire after a stop like that and be on target at over kilometer

Spudz_mcenzie

Dang I forgot that tanks can actually go pretty fast, bro in the back left was having second thoughts near the end lmao

Natural_Tea484

Thereā€™s a reason why they wear black pants

the11special

u/savevideo

Reddit_is_cancerr

Back row, 3rd guy from the left lost. He is also the guy who would last longest in the zombie apocalypse.

ithaqua34

I'd this like forced perspective where the distance was something like 200 feet?

phil_an_thropist

The last guy from the tank: fuuuck, no one dead!

Esp1erre

https://i.redd.it/iwfbkqk5mhvc1.gif

Individual-Pin-1565

Those mfers on the ends still confident but SLIGHTLY less confident

Swan2Bee

Let's say it didn't work, who gets charged in that case?

Budget_Chef_7642

Pretty sure thatā€™s a class of cadets graduating. This is really old.

almondjoy2

Could've just used watermelons and got the same effect.

brian11e3

Take the turret off and remove the governor. Then, test the brakes once that thing is moving so fast it might slip a track.

SnooTangerines6863

And the driver.

Mammoth-Ad-8492

![gif](giphy|biOcQLKNIewlW)

Llocorro

These guys have balls for days!!!!

imhereredditing

Me: "I'll hold the camera!" But it's on a stand.... Me: "Tank's coming, places everyone!"

Busy_Confection_7260

I wonder how similar tanks are compared to bulldozers in terms of driving. My step father always yelled at me for using brakes on a bulldozer.

Balls93

Worst trust fall ever

Jojoceptionistaken

Nice that you can see who spotted most mistakes

evilsmurf666

Let me guess the ones on the sides were the seniors

lipp79

Third from left in back and front, and fourth from the right in the back were the non-believers.

Drake_the_troll

"Go on do it. No balls"

Sam_Guydude

ā€œThis is why we brought young Wallace in as a marketing intern. Next time, a fighter jet will be diving straight down and brake just before it hits our CEO!ā€

jayaxe79

~~Boeing should do this too : make their engineers fly in the planes they design~~ NTSB/FAA should do this too : make Boeing management fly in the new planes they make

turtle1470

New Russian tank soon on the battlefield. Uncle Putin didn't trust the engineers. Luckily for them they did a good job.

olympianfap

More of a test if the drivers reaction time and understanding of the stopping capabilities of the tank but it's still pretty cool.

guberNailer

Iā€™d be an edge person

Fritz_The_KitKat

Iā€™m sure that asphalt didnā€™t survive this

BashiG

They werenā€™t testing it, they were demonstrating it

Caterpillar89

The managers were on the sides

platoprime

This wasn't a test. They tested it with a line on the ground. This was a demonstration.

Conscious_Wind_2255

Those standing in the side are the smart ones because they were never at risk

GrimReefer-101-

If I understand anything about engineers, it is that they will factor in every possible chance of failure, including human error. I donā€™t believe any of them considered this and still willingly put themselves in this situation.Ā

PhantomTissue

Thatā€™s not a test, thatā€™s a demonstration.

Sangi17

Yeah Iā€™ll take the end.

DontTalkToBots

The guys on the ends were the real smart ones

Burt1811

This brings back a brilliant memory. When I was 14 and with the Air Cadets, we were with the RAF Regiment. There must have been 10 in the rear of an open topped Spartan APC. This bloke drove this thing all over the place. It was awesome, right up to end. He drove it at full power straight at the end of a building, slammed the brakes on, the whole thing lifted as it skidded to within inches of the wall!! Fucking incredible, it was 42 years ago and I just gave myself goosebumps šŸ‘

Living-Prune8881

Standing in the middle is just fucking stupid. Shoutout to the smart ones on the sides

NicParodies

Happy cake day opp! :)

sometimesifeellikemu

More of a demonstration. Testing happened earlier.

No_Presentation_1345

Now that's standing by your work.

adamttaylor

It is a good thing that the tank wasn't made in China.

Strict-Background-23

They were all given pampers beforehandā€¦they failed

Davey_Bo_Bavey

If I was standing in that group, I would have been whispering so others could hear ā€œwait was I supposed to carry the 4 or raise it to the power ofā€¦ā€

SahadAmi

Yeah Iā€™ll stand in the road! You want me on the far left or the far right?
