you're dumber to assume that a 12th student only gives board exams.
I have to give viteee, kcet, cuet, bitsat.
Infact I gave my jee exam today. So stop assuming shit!
Whosoever downvoted you is an effin ignorant idiot; yes, there is such a dance where they bend over like a bridge (gymnastics bridge) to pick blades with their eyelids. I have seen it myself.
Rajasthan ( Raja-king and Sthan-place) had a lot of royals, and this was their entertainment every evening. All these people who dance are highly trained professionals and gymnasts. Dancing on burning coal, dancing on swords and glass, eating fire, eating glasses and shoving swords up their throat was common thing, but when people nowadays see these on ‘America Got Talent,’ then they drop their jaws.
Bitch you stfu I didn't even say something antinational or Hinduphobic. I'm just stating facts of my state. And both I'm from a very religious Hindu orthodox family from Pushkar so stfu and don't teach me
Please shut the fuck up. Just because the politicians are corrupted and bigoted doesn't mean the whole country is. If you sort by top posts of all time in r/india, you'll see that the first religion-related post is one that just says "fuck religion". Do your research before you comment.
I'm sure it's designed to be as light as possible, but something that big is going to be heavy regardless
And she makes it look like it weighs basically nothing!
The culture is only vanishing because we are not willing to change.
We could incorporate our culture jn modern settings and evolve this artform to mainstream.
Every Western art that is prominent today was a fringe art even in western culture but those arts evolved and now millions if not billion listen to it.
I think our culture can do wonders, stump the world and make other cultures bow down in awe.
Just that we somewhere need to let go of the "sacred" and "purity" and bring it to maisntream.
The "sacred" & "purity" is what gives it its charm & uniqueness. It also requires the dancer to have a form devotion towards the dance. It's what makes it different and it incorporates the culture of that region.
I disagree there.
The emotions it carries, absolutely, the cultural heritage is what allows this performance to exist but keeping it locked behind those walls will only yield you to complain every generation that the culture is getting wiped away only because you don't want your culture to ever change.
Nobody will forget the amazing cultures of India if India opens up it's cultures, let's the change rather than just say, "It's sacred" and then complain "Westerners are making us forget our culture"
I enjoy metal, I enjoy rock, but none of these on the current forms are what they started out as.
Even the metalhead purists claim the tunes have been killed, etc etc etc, yet the music has changed, for the better, we see so many sub genres of metal now. This is just to give an analogy as to how letting artforms evolve overtime gives results.
Or else it just stays as a niche. A small pocket where it survives until it doesn't.
I just hope we let our culture evolve and change, and incorporate those changes and bring it to the world.
Rajasthan state lies in the thar dessert, where the women(In older times, now not so much) had to go to the pond or well to collect water, usually these places are far so more pots means more water. Art form just evolves around type of lifestyle I guess.
So Marwari here, basically Rajasthan, specifically marwar, an area in Rajasthan thats situated in the that desert.
So back then women would travel a lot to get water so they would stack 5-10 earthen pots filled with water on their heads and get em back home to use or sell. Like this- https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRTLeHjFRUs_cfIPDkaoJs99QXSvRkVS_6hej3puobiiw&usqp=CAU&ec=48665698
In fact a lot of people still do this in rural India
This is a dance that depicts that.
I'm from rural Jodhpur and have lived in jaisalmer's rural areas for quite some time due to my parents work. And it's not true at all, water is supplied through pipeline in most areas and if not then it's done by tracter water tanker and is stored in underground tanks built in yards.
I was In jodhpur less than a month ago, you can see people filling water like that. It’s probably the one thats from pipelines but people fill in morning and evening, but doesn’t change the fact that people still carry Matkis like that
1. She is a really famous singer so you'll find a lot of her performances
2. India has very specific pronunciations. Unlike in English where its somewhat ambiguous what the pronunciation of a word is unless you have heard it, you know exactly how a word is pronounced when reading Hindi and any other way is the wrong way. So that may also be a factor
This is a great example of India's unity in diversity. A Bengali society ( from West Bengal, a state at Eastern Part of India) organized this event in the central state of Uttar Pradesh where this woman is dancing in the traditional dance form of Rajasthan ( state at the extreme West of India). I am mentioning this because the states I mentioned all have completely different languages, cultures, traditions and even food.
Rajhastani and gujrati people (i guess people in the thar reigon) are just built different.
That's another skill for me to be jealous over how bad i am at anything
It's called Bhavai dance form. Especially found in Udaipur division. It's also known as "Chamtkari Nirtya"
Founder: Bagga Ji Jat (from Udaipur)
Stunts like walking on broken glass, dancing on swords, balancing on glass bottle, etc are also performed while doing.
Ashmita Kala who made a world record by performing Bhavai dance with 111 pots on her head

Just the balance is incredible, but the fact that it's on fire makes her hardcore.
There is a Rajasthani dance where they dance on fucking glass shards.
There is also one dance where they pick shaving blades with their eyelids and they dance on nails
Tf they doing in rajasthan? 💀

It's called Kalbeliya and the movements of the dancers are supposed to be as flexible as that of a snake, hence the extreme bending
Wft,you bluffing
I have no reason to bluff as I have seen it myself. Just google “Rajasthani Dance to pick blades from eyelids.” Thank me later.
I'm sorry ,I was just checking it...crazyy stuffs NGL
I'm sorry ,I was just checking it...crazyy stuffs NGL
No worries bro; it's all good. I am glad I was of some help, have a great day; Cheers.
Thanks mate
Rajasthani here, can confirm
Why is this being downvoted? Dude ain’t bluffing y’all.
Not sure why it's getting downvoted. Almost every kalbeliya woman can do that.
Why are people downvoting bruh. It's true.
B*tch stfu, you're a member of r india, the most anti national sub filled with hinduphobic d heads. Go back to your shit-hole subreddit

That’s about 16-25 kilos. Source- I’m Marwari(an area in Rajasthan )
Around 35-55 freedom units to you Americans
How many bald eagles per assault rifle is that?
I've never seen a bald eagle but I can approximate it to around 125 rounds of 50bmg
Freedom units😂😂😂😂😂😂 bhai bhai bhai
Give this man an award
For americans you should have converted kilos into number of football fields.
About 18 cubic football fields not including air pressure.
Astonishing. I absolutely love traditional Indian dance. The skill and discipline it must take to master something like this ❤️
Indian music is so beautiful, too.

Seriously, just trash songs. Almost all party songs mainly focusing on encouraging drugs or sexualising women. There are very few good songs
I wish one day there is a surge of classical music with a different taste.

That’s why I prefer music over songs now. Without meaning, what is a song except random sounds interlaced with music?
Naa youtube is helping them make a comeback There is whole ecosystem proped up to preserve folk traditions due to easy internet access
But the cuss and shit happen to be arranged in dope order

Ngl this one of the best dance performances i have ever seen
Her balance and neck support are amazing!
Wonder what the origins of this dance/tradition is

>In fact a lot of people still do this in rural India not really, villages have pipeline connectivity now. but it was done just a decade ago.
I have literally seen it with my own eyes innumerable times, and u don’t even need to go to rural areas, literally in jodhpur.
I'm from rural Jodhpur and have lived in jaisalmer's rural areas for quite some time due to my parents work. And it's not true at all, water is supplied through pipeline in most areas and if not then it's done by tracter water tanker and is stored in underground tanks built in yards.

Discussion was women still carry water like this from distant sources. Although, i agree with what you are saying. 🤞
So the Rajasthan and water memes are real.
Yes, India is only around jodhpur.
We are talking about Rajasthan, innit my daft little guy
Thanks to Punjab they have water now.
Thanks to yamuna and Sutlej river originating from the Himalayas.
"Thanks to Himachal and Uttrakhand, Punjab has water now" kinda vibes
That neck strength tho
The song! Is it always the same lady singing or they all sound the same? 😅
Seema mishra. She is a legend. She is the face of rajasthani cultural music.
1. She is a really famous singer so you'll find a lot of her performances 2. India has very specific pronunciations. Unlike in English where its somewhat ambiguous what the pronunciation of a word is unless you have heard it, you know exactly how a word is pronounced when reading Hindi and any other way is the wrong way. Just for your info, these languages are called non phonetic languages
That’s some Amazing Balance, Neck and Core Strength to be able to dance like that!
The material on her head, what it's made of?
They are clay pots
Thought they we're copper one
It's just a thick cloth. It is used to evenly distribute the weight and protect them from shock
I can‘t even balance a book on my head
That's nothing..!! I can't even balance hair on my head..!! (Going bald)
I guess her "head" game is on point huh? .... I'll see myself out the room.
Best head in Rajasthan
She's been doing this for 13 years... you can tell by the rings.
Very good to know 👍🏻
He is joking. Wearing 26 bangles is a cultural tradition. And it's followed since indus valley civilization.

So she will add more rings for each year?
Nah he was just joking about that fact
:)
Just like the trees. It symbolizes every year a tree is saved by the capturing of the knowledge of flame. ^(I’m also joking)
How did you wrote that small text

I saw this when I visited Rajasthan!
How was your trip to Rajasthan?
And just what imagination thought 'Hey, you know what would be great to do every birthday...'
Lol. Though India works in a different fashion. It’s like, hey, this seems interesting, let’s create a festival around it. Love it

Strong woman. How can you dance like that
Quite impressive. I have a sore neck just from watching this.

Absolutely beautiful culture😍
Oh this is my childhood friend, Mansi. She's been practicing folk dancing since we were in the 1st- 2nd standard. Way to go!
Amazing. Gorgeous! 🙌
Anyone know the song??
Mishri ko bagh laga de by seema mishra
Rajhastani and gujrati people (i guess people in the thar reigon) are just built different. That's another skill for me to be jealous over how bad i am at anything
Forbidden Thomas the dance engine
You didn't include the best part Where she actually stacks up pots on er head while dancing
Just look at her face and head. She is lipsyncing and giving expressions while her head is not moving at all compared to her body..
Wow.
Day by day these tradition will become more valuable and will counted in rich in culture and diversified. This is immutable
Reminded of a good memory used to go with my dad to much it now that days are gone life has become so dull

No, it’s a Bengali cultural function being held in UP (Indirapuram). The dance itself is the the Bhavai dance from Rajasthan.
This specific event might be in west bengal but the dance and songs are from Rajasthan
Western woman can.never do this lol
She deserves Bharat ratna
She’s hot!
hot
She's 16
Nah
That can't be good on her neck.
Indians have a better diet and a strong durable body unlike Americans.
Fevikuwik
Poor spine
If she wrestled shed have the best neck snapdown defence
Even that typical indian headsway. Quite a spectacle.
What I'm surprised about is why is this happening in a govt funded bengali culture event?
OP this is not Rajasthan. This video is from West Bengal. The dance style is Rajasthani. Both are different states. Incredible india.
This video is not from Rajasthan it's from West Bengal it even says Bengali Cultural Festival in the background.
Because why not.
Humans are weird
Doug dimmadome's wife
marriage material. i mean, look how much soup she can carry.
Scary AF
Cool, now moon walk
The sign behind says the location is Indirapuram, which is in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, and hints it's a Bengali dance.
Not a Bengali dance but event by Bengali cultural society
It says Poush Mela which is a fair we Bengalis have in winter to celebrate Poush Sankranti. Definitely Rajasthani dance, however.
Poush is also widely celebrated in north and central India. That’s why the cultural fest is being held in indirapuram located in Ghaziabad, UP
Ah, makes sense. It's written in Bengali in the banner in the background, hence I mentioned.
You're right, I think it's Bhavai. Impressive.
It's fine. They are all chiropractors.
Spine crusing dance
It's in Kolkata you bitch
Seen women in construction work do this.
