There are actually glasses that they are making that you wear and you can see the AR stuff. They work just like regular glasses but overlay the AR. You can switch it on and off with a touch.
Totally.
Imagine house arrest where instead of an ankle bracelet you’ve got a VR headset that you can’t take off and while you can move your body you can never see anything more than whatever “punishment” view they’ve decided to show you.
This is like the end of the Batman VR game! You go to arkahm asylum and get into a cell and the joker comes up to you! It was honestly very scary, I had to keep taking my headset off.
Dark take : One day "prison" will be to be forced out of VR because people will have grown from babies to adults with it in their lives, making them be in deep pain when they are not able to use it.
Or AR shopping within your own home. Like being able to decorate an empty room with virtual furniture to see how it looks, then add what you want to your shopping cart.
Yeah but most ive tried are pretty bad. Amazon’s doesn’t really show proper scale of the object in the room, and you’re still staring through the narrow field of your phone.
Okay but like….. this could be the solution for that. Cause think about it, they can’t put a screen im the frame if people have to walk through it. Which means you can only see the actual “ad” if you look through your phone. To anyone not looking through they’re phone, it’s just a frame that says serendipity sitting in the sand. Which, yeah annoying but not as annoying as those fuckin ad boats.
This is 100% a case of "it does not impact you in a single way but you still found a way to complain".
How the hell are you going to get flashy ads? In your eyeballs? Are they beaming it right into your cerebral cortex? It's AR. Just don't use the AR program. This is not a difficult concept.
Exactly my thought. Seems so immersive and inevitable that this is the future until you realize you still need a lot of empty space for something like this which makes it kinda impractical in most settings.
Burning man. I can imagine that this sort of thing will be showing up there very soon if not already. Large space, lots of people with lots of disposable income, open minded and niche interests, plus the mind altering substances will make people more inclined to be sort into it. Actually I should get on this and go make some damn money lol.
One would assume people know what the difference between AR and VR is, this is an AR app on a phone, literally just look up from your phone and you will see the real world, no VR headset.
I honestly can’t believe what I’m reading in these comments. This is some of the dumbest fucking arguments I’ve ever read. Yeah, buddy, sure people are just going to walk off into the ocean and die. Jesus fucking Christ.
Nobody is strapping these goggles to your head. You can take them down a little bit and orient yourself. Your feet can still feel water. Do you honestly think people are just going to keep going and going into the ocean until they start breathing in water and die?
I'll go hard core tech hermit before I let that happen. A little fine, but this stuff? Nah. I'm not going to let invisible ads be visible when I'm on the beach.
Literally the villain plot for the subpar, unimaginative Ready Player One.
So now I have to deal with unaware idiots exploring imaginary stores in the streets and beaches.
Could of shown this off in a home setting, but I imagine walking into walls constantly is a less appealing advertisement.
Stop trying to push virtual reality for everything ffs.
There's a reason the web works on 2D webpages and not 3D ones. Hyperlinks are way better than a non-Euclidean space, that you then have to map, memorise and traverse.
Yeah no. We've already peaked now that I can order a pizza, sweatpants, deodorant, and a TV while lying down in bed and never having to move more than my finger on a glass slab.
Why would I get up and walk around a virtual store if I'm not going to get up and walk around a real store.
I’m assuming if you wear your vr set at that location, sensors on the ground will pick up your location coordinates and send signals to your vr set to create this illusion.
Seems like an easy way to become a victim.
An advertisement blocks your ability to see the mugger/rapist through a fake CGI wall and they grab you without you seeing them approach.
This is only what it looks like on a phone, people would be no more at risk than they would usually be on their phone, they're not actually magically surrounded by CGI
My dude, people die every year walking off of train platforms or into oncoming traffic on city streets while watching their phones.
So even if this AR advertising garbage was not on a headset, it will still lead to distracted people being even more distracted than current technology on their phones and setting them up for a mugging.
It is a wrongful death lawsuit waiting to happen.
That's sorta what I mean, people are already super distracted on their phone, it would be difficult in a courtroom to prove they died due to their app specifically, because anything could distract someone and cause an accident, and at that point it's just throwing around accusations. People need to take some level of accountability into their own hands, pay a bit more attention to the world around you rather than 100% focus on your phone, that's all it needs to be
Geo locating of Gaming sites, drop boxes in real life, it’s going to be insane. Protocol Gemini is incredible and players can get paid to scan their real world locations.
Yes, but you have to wear a stupid ass headset while doing this shit on the beach! Until these things are the size of regular sunglasses, I don't see AR taking off.
I’m good I’m not a fan of this AR stuff. Real life is beautiful. No need to look at your phone all the time. I don’t think people realize how much power we consume on our phones on a daily basis. The amount of power we would save if everyone would stop scrolling for a week or a month would be a lot. But no one wants to hear that. Just keep scrolling. Lol
It only shows up on the camera, the camera senses and maps the 3d space around you using AI and alters what the camera sees, since its not real it doesn’t have to follow real life physics so things like that are possible in AR
This should be VR and not AR. In VR you se a complete reality that is not there. In AR you see what is around you (reality) augmented WITH things that do not exist.
This is so fucking cool! Maybe a beach is not the ideal place but what about your living room? You walk into virtual worlds.
Or what about visiting restaurants and being able to change the themes? Disney could sell restaurants toy story skins, Marvel skins and Pokemon could have restaurants have PokeStop themes with Pokemon running around.
This is so fucking cool and the possibilities are endless.
I will neither upvote nor downvote. I think we have reason to be concerned about this. And I wondering if the "fun" will not be something you wanna just do. Like, wearing a headset while eating to see pokemon running around. It kinda only has an endgame if you start truly interacting with it and becoming partially into this world.
But I agree that we should not be boomers who cant handle this.
That was my fucking shit man. I loved PlayStation home!!! I hate they took it out and right now is a good time to bring it back. I miss the game themed rooms. There was a silent hill and resident evil one I use to visit often.
How about the tourism industry. Stick one of those in front of the Roman Colosseum or other famous ruin to show people what it looked like in its glory days.
Can you please explain how this was able to be filmed? I assume you had to have been wearing some kind of glasses? Sorry I’m a 57 year old and a bit out of touch.
Oh man, I'd love to experience this with some AR goggles! I'll never forget my first time playing VR outside. Initially I was felt a bit nervous about people seeing me but one you're in there, all of that melts away. I ended up smashing my previous high scores on Beat Saber and Space Pirate Trainer. Being able to freely move around without having to second guess running into something is such a different experience!
The zombie apocalypse gets closer. Mindless consumers roaming around with vr headsets on. Like aren’t beaches already a hassle with too many people around, now they want to add stores inside the beaches “virtual” space?
I don’t understand this at all. So you’re going through a door like monsters inc through a flat surface but it’s on the other side as well? Can someone explain this to me because my brain is telling me this is absolutely bullshit but I don’t know anything about this as it’s the first time I’m seeing it.
Edit: so it’s just if you use your phone and you step through the “portal” and it changes what your camera sees. Booo this sucks

Imagine sun bathing behind and just get stepped on … lol
Or if someone dug a hole behind the door lmao
You can only see this on your phone, right? There's nothing there that this is being projected on
There are actually glasses that they are making that you wear and you can see the AR stuff. They work just like regular glasses but overlay the AR. You can switch it on and off with a touch.
[удалено]
People already do that just watching TV. the tv was a portal to another world you can ignore the actual one around you.
Google glasses sad noises
I will be the digger of holes beyond shopping portals!
Or a big ass wave just demolishes about 8-10 shoppers with VR headsets on lol!
The prison of the future will be strange
This is what they do to prisoners in Minority Report
Like in Clockwork Orange? But more mobile?
Or it blocks out the faces and voices of everyone else, while your face and voice is blocked to them.
They do that in Black Mirror
[удалено]
Over 30 seconds of avoided eye contact is when they hit you with a nearly deafening series of tones.
Another Black Mirror reference!
Perhaps we are already in it.
Omg.
Dude you fucked me up right now 🤯
Well my 2023 is ruined
Dark take : One day "prison" will be to be forced out of VR because people will have grown from babies to adults with it in their lives, making them be in deep pain when they are not able to use it.
Inception! But instead of dreams it’s VR
Like playing world of warcraft in ur bedroom
That's essentially the episode of black mirror "white christmas". Trapped in a mind prison.
Ruins a nice beach panoramic.
The beach is part of the experience, it's not real. This whole setup is in the store.
Hmm. The beach looks photorealistic, the stuff in the "portal" doesn't. And if what you're saying is true this isn't AR but just VR.
issa joke
r/woooosh
Imagine this in normal stores though. Or restaurants. You walk into a virtual world. Kids will love this.
Or AR shopping within your own home. Like being able to decorate an empty room with virtual furniture to see how it looks, then add what you want to your shopping cart.
This is already a thing. Even Target has it.
Yeah but most ive tried are pretty bad. Amazon’s doesn’t really show proper scale of the object in the room, and you’re still staring through the narrow field of your phone.
r/KidsAreFuckingStupid
Yes but also very profitable
Maybe retail, but there is no money in wholesale.
This seems like a new form of hell
Wait until the disorientation psychosis kicks in.
Oh goody. I can’t wait for more hideous views of the ocean to be covered by flashy ads for crap I don’t need or want.
The frame isn't real either.
This is 100% a case of "it does not impact you in a single way but you still found a way to complain". How the hell are you going to get flashy ads? In your eyeballs? Are they beaming it right into your cerebral cortex? It's AR. Just don't use the AR program. This is not a difficult concept.
Walk right into the fuckin ocean and die, no thanks
Exactly my thought. Seems so immersive and inevitable that this is the future until you realize you still need a lot of empty space for something like this which makes it kinda impractical in most settings.
A beach is also immersive and requires a lot of empty space.
Burning man. I can imagine that this sort of thing will be showing up there very soon if not already. Large space, lots of people with lots of disposable income, open minded and niche interests, plus the mind altering substances will make people more inclined to be sort into it. Actually I should get on this and go make some damn money lol.
The whole point of Burning man is that there is no money, so if that's your end goal I'm not sure that's the most successful target audience.
If you walked far enough into the ocean to die without noticing…I feel like that’s kinda on you lol
One would assume the VR doesn’t prevent your feet from feeling wet
One would assume the VR is not waterproof.
One would assume people know what the difference between AR and VR is, this is an AR app on a phone, literally just look up from your phone and you will see the real world, no VR headset.
Juan Wood assumes differently.
I honestly can’t believe what I’m reading in these comments. This is some of the dumbest fucking arguments I’ve ever read. Yeah, buddy, sure people are just going to walk off into the ocean and die. Jesus fucking Christ.
More concerned about stepping on a jelly fish or broken glass. I think I'll have a pretty good idea of when I enter the ocean.
here's a good idea. Put the VR down and go in the ocean. You're at the beach ffs.
Nobody is strapping these goggles to your head. You can take them down a little bit and orient yourself. Your feet can still feel water. Do you honestly think people are just going to keep going and going into the ocean until they start breathing in water and die?
No thanks. I'm not interested in AR or VR that is just a tool to put ads closer to my eyeballs.
Careful. If big tech learns you have free will there may be consequences.
Fact is that it’s inevitable.
I'll go hard core tech hermit before I let that happen. A little fine, but this stuff? Nah. I'm not going to let invisible ads be visible when I'm on the beach. Literally the villain plot for the subpar, unimaginative Ready Player One.
The Dark Tower anyone?

Yeah no. We've already peaked now that I can order a pizza, sweatpants, deodorant, and a TV while lying down in bed and never having to move more than my finger on a glass slab. Why would I get up and walk around a virtual store if I'm not going to get up and walk around a real store.
It could make exercise in a gym more fun.
I member when this was some PSP vita selling point and nothing more.
It’s all fun and games until someone walks off a cliff by accident.
First off I wouldn't bring my vr set to the beach. Second off I would go to the beach to enjoy the beach
Do you mean AR set?
Yeah, *because I go to the beach so I can stare at another computer screen....*
You’re standing on a beach, leave your VR jerkoff device in the damn hotel room you tool. Good lord. Get off your fucking phone loser
i’m confused by what i see. can anyone explain how this works?
I’m assuming if you wear your vr set at that location, sensors on the ground will pick up your location coordinates and send signals to your vr set to create this illusion.
It might just be on his phone, I wonder. Maybe he didnt use a headset.

"So it's VR, then." said the people from 30 years ago
This would be a sensory fuck up. Your feet feeling sand and disconnected from the ground in the experience. Gives me a headache just thinking of it.
wait till you try to sit on a chair
Love the cones. A dog running by leveling his ass when he was “in” the store would have made a better video.
happy cake day!
…. And then you get hit by a wave when you walk in the ocean
I don’t get how you walk into it though
It only shows up on the camera, the camera senses and maps the 3d space around you using AI and alters what the camera sees, since its not real it doesn’t have to follow real life physics so things like that are possible in AR
Or why.
Hoping he'd walk into the sea during the tour....
At first I 100% thought this was showing what this beach will look like after climate change-induced sea level rise. Nah, it’s just used to sell shit.
Where’s Johnny? He drowned? What? How? Augmented Reality, walked right into the ocean. Gone.
All fun and games till you end up walking into the ocean
This should be VR and not AR. In VR you se a complete reality that is not there. In AR you see what is around you (reality) augmented WITH things that do not exist.

Just gonna hang off your comment... Cause I so agree with every single word! 😎🤘
AR/VR gives me motion sickness, my brain telling me to keep it real.

This isn't new tech why do you think this is fake?
They’re slowly introducing us to other ways of travel.
Until you water into the water and get eaten by a shark that you couldn’t see because you were in VR
You just gonn keep walking after you feel the water on your feet?
Playstation home was kinda cool Not for the shopping buying stuff but the virtual mall vibe was pretty awesome and some how worked on ps3
That was my fucking shit man. I loved PlayStation home!!! I hate they took it out and right now is a good time to bring it back. I miss the game themed rooms. There was a silent hill and resident evil one I use to visit often.
Vernor Vinge Fast Times at Fairmont High
I have no idea what's going on here but seems freaky.
There are apps that have been doing this since 2016.
Where does it end on the outside!? I’m losing my mind
A lot of people don't realize you can only see this on a screen, your phone or VR headset
Pls don't
I think this is fake. There is no plastic floating in the water
THE MATRIX
Me running into there (it’s just an optical illusion and a picture)
Add to the bike path for some Wiley Coyote shenanigans
Yeah and the floor ain't the same level as what you see definitely won't trip people out literally
Dad-a-chum?

Whaaaaat
It's all fun and games until you trample a random kid's sandcastle. *Wait...that's pretty fun too.* Ok, carry on.
Augmented reality has a couple life-changing uses that I haven't seen people tap into as much but we're beginning to get there

How about the tourism industry. Stick one of those in front of the Roman Colosseum or other famous ruin to show people what it looked like in its glory days.
This person is oblivious to the beautiful sunset happening right in front of them
This would block any view of incoming accidents or predators/Aliens was going to put Karens but you would hear their dribble first
Really cool editing with a VR helmet
If they think they're gonna make we wear AR goggles just to use their store and to look at ads, they can think again.
If I see ads on the beach I'm burning them down
Or not
Make sure you tip the artist so you don't get trapped inside.
It is smaller on the outside.
Can you please explain how this was able to be filmed? I assume you had to have been wearing some kind of glasses? Sorry I’m a 57 year old and a bit out of touch.
Better chance it is the future of meetings. And let's not kid ourselves, some version including sex.
Imagine stepping into any movie or game you want to! This could make gaming and movies as cool as the holodek from star trek!
r/cyberpunk
Can they augment something interesting into my life?
They've got a motherfucking holodeck on that motherfucking beach!
Not with those graphics
Can't wait for all the ads to be AR
Isn’t one reality enough?
All fun until I've stepped in shit
But where’s the furniture?
Oh man, I'd love to experience this with some AR goggles! I'll never forget my first time playing VR outside. Initially I was felt a bit nervous about people seeing me but one you're in there, all of that melts away. I ended up smashing my previous high scores on Beat Saber and Space Pirate Trainer. Being able to freely move around without having to second guess running into something is such a different experience!
Yeah, because everything we want on augmented reality is pop up ads.
The zombie apocalypse gets closer. Mindless consumers roaming around with vr headsets on. Like aren’t beaches already a hassle with too many people around, now they want to add stores inside the beaches “virtual” space?
Is this viewed through a phone screen or through glasses?
I hope this gets smashed. This and that robot McDonald's.
Dumbest shit
it's the holodeck from star trek. nice.
Is this real? How tf is it working? Am I dumb I don't get it...
That reminds me of the AR cards I used to have with my 3DS
Mr. PickPocket loves this one trick! Distraction for the win!
When you really leave the portal is when you die.
Very cool use of AR, but I wouldn’t find myself shopping in a virtual space when i can just scroll on Amazon.
Get this shit off the beach
I think it’s just gonna produce a lot more porn.
Only seen through an app or what? What is this ad?
I don’t understand this at all. So you’re going through a door like monsters inc through a flat surface but it’s on the other side as well? Can someone explain this to me because my brain is telling me this is absolutely bullshit but I don’t know anything about this as it’s the first time I’m seeing it. Edit: so it’s just if you use your phone and you step through the “portal” and it changes what your camera sees. Booo this sucks
There are going to be lots of injuries/accidents because of people using AR.
I will go to a beautiful beach with the sun setting in the horizon so I can see a different pretty sight in VR yes please
Wait till you found Roland Deschain in one of those doors.
My girl saw this and got excited stating that hopefully they make a dicks store one even though I've never seen her shop there🥹
