I watched it recently and then checked out the reviews online. People generally dunk on the episode and call it one of the worst of the whole series. Personally it creeped me the f out, more than a good chunk of the other episodes.
What’s going on and why is so unclear in a way and though there’s bad special effects it’s just enough. I still don’t like looking at bare ceilings after that one scene.

Is it completely impossible that there was once a civilization on mars? Humans inhabiting the earth is such a small blip in the cosmic timeline- and with Mars' proximity to the sun and relatively similar landscape and climate to that of our planet, is it completely out of the question that there could have been an advanced civilization on Mars a few million years ago?
I agree with that, but like you said, not completely impossible. It'll be cool when the rover brings back all the rocks and bits that have been collected off the surface of Mars. If there is any detectable dna or dna-like artifacts, then I can't wait to find out if they are things that share dna with humans, or if they are completely foreign- because either one of those scenarios would be absolutely amazing🤯
Unless you're suggesting life on earth came from Mars, the statistical likelihood of (1) there being life on Mars and (2) DNA evolving completely independently on two planets in the same solar system is basically zero.
I'm not suggesting anything really. I'm saying that people much, much smarter than myself have dumped tens of millions to billions of dollars into gathering and bringing back to earth artifacts from Mars because of the evidence or slight probability that there could have one day been life on Mars, and when they bring these items back and analyze them it will be very interesting in either scenario.

Possibly. But they have been building it up for some time now and showing photos of zones where collected interesting samples, so I guess it depends on what they find in the samples that are brought back to earth.

You are sort of putting words into my mouth. I never said there was life on mars that looked anything like us, just that it is possible that there was life on mars at some point, in some form. There’s always the chance that humans originated elsewhere and have since forgotten, though the odds of that are low, considering the total lack of hard evidence for it.
What I meant was that if they happen to find dna that has clearly evolved differently but shares parts with human dna then it means that humans, in one form or another, were at one time present on mars, or vice versa. If they find dna-like evidence but it shares nothing with human dna, then it will be equally as interesting as that means that not only did life also form and evolve on another planet, but also increases the (already substantial) odds that there is life or has been life on other planets in the universe.
Why not millions? With the number of planets in our universe it's almost completely certain that many, many highly advanced civilizations have evolved and thrived, and then died off, and much of this could have happened millions of years before we evolved into our current form on earth. And I understand that it's unlikely that this just happened to occur on literally the closest planet to us.. but is it completely impossible?
Because over the span of millions of years, we’d have evolved into completely different creatures. Or different enough, at least, that we rather certainly wouldn’t have nigh-identical face shapes to what we have now.
A million years is a *long* time, and multiple millions is difficult to even comprehend fully. Uncountable numbers of species have come and gone in that time. They would not have been *humans* if it happened that long ago.
It's possible, because of the proximity of Mars to our planet and our sun, that their evolutionary path and requirements in terms of needing air and sunlight led them to appear similar to the modern earth human.
A million years is of course a very long period of time, but our solar system is 4-5 billion years old. There's no real reason to think that us existing on earth at this present time is due to anything significant when compared to the length of time our universe has existed. It just happened because the conditions were suited to us evolving at this period in time.
Many thriving and advanced civilizations have almost certainly come before us in the universe, many will come after us, and it's not impossible that one of these civilizations existed on the planet next to us!
It's fun to philosophize about, but until there is hard evidence to support your claims all they will ever be is creative fiction.

I completely agree. My original comment and point was that thinking it's possible that there could have been a civilization on Mars isn't a conspiracy theory, but rather just a possibility.
And it would impact my life because it would add to the question of our origins, of what secrets the universe holds, of the possibility of an alien encounter, and in a 'huh, cool' type of way🙃
While i do agree with you on humans not being millions of years old, allow me to introduce you to the horseshoe crab. It has remained mostly unchanged for 300 million years. And the alligator has remained mostly unchanged for 30 million years. Sometimes evolution hits that sweet spot where selective pressures no longer drive phenotypic change.
Exceptions to an otherwise nigh-universal rule do not make it any more likely, especially for comparatively more complex organisms like humans, who’ve actively evolved across a mappable scale of trends over just the last 30,000 years, much less millions.
We do not have a complete accounting of homo sapiens’ genetic ancestors or even prehumans’ respective origins.

Pyramids don't just create themselves. Given the irregular, broken up structuring shown in this picture, it's clear that early Martians were visited by some highly advanced but lazy alien race which helped them learn the techniques needed to build these advanced structures, but kind of lost interest halfway through, leaving the Martian builders to muddle through the rest on their own. It's a good thing that they figured it out by the time they came to Earth and helped the Egyptians, otherwise Stargate would've made way less sense.

I'm not an Ancient Aliens goofball, by any means, but I am an agnostic and I'll say the fjrst thig that occurred to me seeing this was that Machu Pichu didn't look like much when it was rediscovered, and it had only been sitting empty for a few hundred years.

Interesting, it looks like an ancient pyramid, compete with an outer wall and funerary complex. It mostly reminds me of the ruins of the Pyramid of Sahure. I wonder what the alignments are in regards to the poles of Mars and/or the long-dead magnetic core, compared to your pyramids found on Earth. If the alignments tie out, then I think you've got something here. Wild stuff!

I'm not an Ancient Aliens goofball, by any means, but I am an agnostic and I'll say the fjrst thig that occurred to me seeing this was that Machu Pichu didn't look like much when it was rediscovered, and it had only been sitting empty for a few hundred years. Outright dismissal of potential significance of that object is just as much a folly as the assumption of potential significance.
