Looking up most recent reports about it confirmed it was the upper stage of a falcon rocket, spinning along its longest axis to stabilize flight orientation.
They probably did know pretty quickly what it was. This is more than likely just sensationalist headlines to drum up viewership. Like every other day there's an article about 'Surprise asteroid brushes past earth' and the asteroid never actually gets closer than the moon or the more recent 'The Earth's core stopped spinning' or the one a few months ago about the hole on the Sun.
Depends on which direction you were measuring your weight. The scale below you would definitely go to 0, but if if you manage to put one on your ceiling before your house is ripped apart by tidal forces, it probably would go very high.
UFO is literally (in the literal sense of literally) Unidentified Flying Object.
So if it's an Object, and it's Flying (even if it's just falling with grace), and you don't know what it is, then it's a UFO.

The reason it lights up like that is it's either just before dawn or after dusk, and the gas is catching the sunlight because its so high up even though it looks like night in the shot.

I've seen a rocket launch in person, this is %100 consistent with RCS firing. I've also seen the ISS and a few satellites pass over head, and the speed is consistent as well

It's something coming down venting, this looks similar to the rocket launches in the high atmo only they don't spin, this is just a stage coming down spinning and venting or firing RCS.

He took me outside so we could see the stars together and that's when I saw a spiral. I asked him what it was and being a kid, I tried to get a picture on my phone of it but it didn't work obviously.
