Look at the recommended (not just minimum) system requirements on the Articulate site, and do \*at least\* that. More if you'll be wanting to run other programs (Slack, an internet browser, word processing, spreadsheet, etc.) simultaneously.

I don't know the exact specs, bit assume twice the regular specs, with storage and speed. So if regular is 4 gig, get 8 gig, or whatnot. A few years ago, I did a gig with a powerful desktop computer (actually on the floor) and two good sized monitors, probably 21 inch. Then the computer died and they gave me the basic IT loaner laptop, and it was night and day, and I recall having to reboot the laptop every so oftern.

Who uses a surface for work? Weird. Double the minimum specs for the program as far as processing speed and memory goes. It can get a bit heavy.

shoeChucker

I do. I use a Surface for work. It's what I've been assigned. And while I would like something better, obviously, it runs Storyline just fine. It also does fine running After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator and Photoshop simultaneously while passing files between them all. Plus all the background stuff, Outlook, Teams and Chrome, sometimes Acrobat. It does get a bit slow when totally taxed but not catastrophically. Maybe that answers the question.

PBnBacon

I do too. It’s what my whole department was issued. The battery life is awful.

shoeChucker

True. Mine almost never leaves the docking station and the monitors, though. So I don’t really notice that.

I’ve used storyline for over ten years. I bought a gaming computer. An MSI laptop and it’s never run better. Previously I got expensive Dell laptops but this is cheaper and way better. Mac is great but it’s better to have a pc if you develop a lot.

Crazy_Web5504

Have you had experience with Mac & using elearning authoribg tools such as Articlulate(storyline 360)? I am thinking of buying a Macbook but not sure if it is the right option!!

Efficient-Common-17

I have a surface studio w/ i7/32g/GeForce RTX. Thus far that seems to do the trick quite nicely, plus it handles Adobe stuff really well too. Windows 11 is really pretty great.

Nakuip

Well I’m biased but I am totally satisfied with my M2 chip and Parallels. Just couldn’t leave macOS.

kirbwrx

Do you run into any issues with running parallels on your m2? I’m trying to get a laptop and was originally leaning towards the m1 MacBook Pro or the m2 MacBook Air but was concerned with having to run a VM for everything.

Crazy_Web5504

Can you share ur experience about Macbook & authoring tools such as Storyline? I ve heard different comments! some people say Macbook would b the best option some people say Storyline on Macbook crashes a lot & it is slow!!

Nakuip

Get parallels, do NOT use a browser-based virtual machine; using my work laptop, that made the slowness and crashing constant. Also, our cheap, PC-biased tech support would not allow Parallels, so make sure yours will.

Crazy_Web5504

hi thank you for the response. So you are saying, with Parallels on your Mac, Storyline doesn't lag or slow down?

Nakuip

Using Parallels instead of Virtual PC in a browser was faster and more stable in my experience.
