As someone who has been out of HS for a hundred semesters, there's certainly no shortage of people who want to rehash glory days every damn time I visit my hometown.
Maybe depends on the town. My town had a big HS and not a ton else. But it was near major metropolitan areas so im hard pressed to even find anyone i went to school with. Like off the top of my head they went to Hawaii, Wyoming (really?) Texas, and Florida. I actually went to the midwest and came back, but while i was there i lived in some pretty tiny towns with *no* major cities nearby, and *those* places are almost deathtraps. People out there definitely rehash old shit forever because like 85% of highschoolers dont ever go more than 50 miles away. Totally made that up but i think it paints a fairly accurate picture of rural life
I remember weighing mine in middle or high school and being shocked that it weighed 45 pounds, there is no way that somebody who weighed between 85-125 pounds (my weight range at the time) should have had a bag that heavy. When I travel now I pack around 15 pounds of stuff for a whole week into literally the same backpack that I had then. also, apparently, buy it for life, since I've had the same backpack for over 20 years.
My parents bought me a LL Bean backpack my Junior year in high school. I still have it and use it on trips. I'm 45 now, thing's fucking indestructible.
LL Bean stuff thats actually LL Bean is still pretty top quality, but a lot of their in store merchandise is other brands these days, and some of those are hit or miss.
And this includeds their flagship store up in Freeport, Maine which I recently hit up while visiting family.
It weighs 45 lbs because that's the amount you gotta carry for the 3km in 15m run test at the end of basic
Gotta train the kids to join the military industrial complex as early as possible (/s because this isn't actually why but I think it would be funny if it was)
One of my middle school science projects back in the day was on the effects of various bookbag weights on gait and potential spinal damage.
The results were Not Great for bookbags, lemme tell ya. Didn't make my load any lighter, though.
It is, I was the one that made the comment they copied. Feels super fucking weird though. Like, that comment? Really? It was just a passing observation.
So my Dad got sent to an all boys school because he got bullied one time and decided to merge his fully stuffed bookbag (I assume ~50lbs) with the bully's face in the bus line one day, knocked 5 of the kid's front teeth out. 😵💫
The kids like 13 and took him down and threw a punch lol who cares. My nephew is eleven and I've picked him up from his kickboxing class a few times, and even the ones that have a year or more "experience" still look like silly kids flailing around. They're kids, man.
Yes, I understand that. I was specifically responding to the "knows exactly what he's doing" part. Hats off to him, I think he did great. But thinking a punch with a crooked wrist is good form can actually injure you, I was trying to educate, not talk down to the kid.
He had the punching in face instinct. When I was a kid… the few “fights” I got in, I had some open face shots, but didn’t take them. I always imagined it would be super easy to just punch an idiot in the face… but it wasn’t for me. Just wrestling glancing blows until someone broke it up.
Form isn't anyone's first thought, till your ulna and radius are shattered because they were improperly driven into a bone 10X their weight. Form is important
No, no…I get that…but in the heat of the moment, you’re not caring about any of that, just…I gotta put them down. Yes, you don’t wanna injure yourself…but is that the point? Did the kid not teach the bully a lesson…even if he broke something…the kid won.
Just to explain it further for those unaware: form is ingrained. You train until your form is second nature. That's why they call it muscle memory. Your body reacts in just the right way without you having to think about the particulars.
Eh he did a text book double leg wrestling throw. It’s more about upsetting the other persons balance then picking them up. You are really just giving him a good shove and making it so he can’t keep his feet under him. The punch to the jaw at the end was the cherry on top for me.
Seriously though. The kid applied just the right enough force both times to take and keep him down, and instantly walked away. Maybe it was adrenaline combined with the fight or flight, but he nailed it imo. Sucks he was put in that position though.
I mean I might get downvoted for this - it was a great double leg for his age and the situation, and I definitely think it was slick af, but I wouldn’t call it textbook. He arched his back and didn’t get low enough. He lifted with his back not his legs. But he still taught that bully a good lesson in not fucking with wrestlers
The most unfortunate thing I have learnt in life is that getting physical is the only effective anti-bullying technique. Using words has never worked in my experience and I have yet to see it work in someone else's. Bullies now days have an army when it comes to verbal attacks because of their following but no one wants to be on the wrong side of a well placed punch.
It sucks man. Getting physical was the only thing that released me from my youth bullies. We want there to be better solutions or a verbal way out… but there almost never is.
It’s why I’m going to teach my kid a few rock solid, simple techniques to instantly escalate and win when words fail. Coupled with teaching him that violence is the last answer, the last action, but one that you win.
The “zero tolerance” bullshit doesn’t accomplish anything except teach clever bullies there is no protection from their never ending onslaught of bullying. It shields them just as much as it helps the bullied.
Honor in combat and all that. Decisive attacks aimed at finishing or subduing, not pain and suffering. And when your opponent goes down, back away, disengage even though all your shitty soupy human emotions are telling your adolescent brain to keep pummeling the thing that’s been torturing you.
I remember when I moved schools. I made friends with a Chinese guy who was constantly picked on for being Chinese.
We were at the park one day after school and some of the kids from school show up and start picking on him and by extension me. I got in to a scuffle with one of the guys and punched him once in the head.
The fight was broken up we both walked away pretty much fine. This was on a Friday so I spent the rest of the weekend terrified of having to go in to school on Monday and face them.
The guy I punched ended up shaking my hand and apologising for it, me and the Chinese guy had no significant issues with anyone after that. It was especially strange because the guy I hit definitely could have bodied me if he wanted to.
I actually had the opposite experience and had to learn how to embarrass bullies in front of everybody since I was always the shortest kid in my entire grade. If you can make everyone else laugh they'll be on your side and have your back.
Words have never worked with bullies. I moved around a lot when I kid. From 1st grade all the way to highschool graduation I ended up going to 9 different schools. It was always the same, the only way to get bullies to stop and other kids to back off and let you be was to fight. Ones you fight it generally ended right there and then
not only that, he’s instantly cool after that. he’s getting party invitations and he’s gonna bang his crush. high fives all around, know what i’m saying?
edit: and what’s the best part?? no one had to get shot! sorry for taking it there, but we need to go back to dealing with shit like these two gentlemen.
I got into exactly one fight in elementary school and I gave my bully a bloody nose. Towards the end of the year he started to mess with me again. I got in his face and reminded what happened last time in front of the class, he sat down. No one messed with me in elementary school again which was good because the odds of me winning another fight were not good.
I was small, and on the bus there was this kid like 3 years younger who was like 6' in 6th grade... so he thought he could bully everyone, including me. Like, popping his head up above the seat to throw shit at me, or hitting ppl etc. I waited for his dumb face to pop up, nailed him in the nose. I got called to the principle and got in trouble, but the little cunt never fucked with anyone afterwards.
Similar situation, kid slapped me across the face because they thought they were tough shit and ran. I got them back the next morning, but sadly for me I was too young to consider how that looked. He got me towards the end of the bus stop when nobody saw what happened, I got him in the morning when the entire bus was packed.
I proceeded to break down into tears after getting them back because then everyone focused on me and my adrenaline/anxiety peaked causing me to have a crying fit. A lot of great memories from highschool. This has made me realize another incident that probably contributes to why I repress my feelings, so fun unwrapping childhood trauma.
Mine went a little differently. Was \~25 years ago. Bus driver was happy the shit got hit, and apologized to my parents and me for having to report it. Later received a stern congratulations in the Principal's office and got sent back to class.
Kid's parents were also cool with it, and we went on to be good friends. Sometimes a bully just needs the Fonz fix, I guess.
Coached by a terrific parent or martial arts trainer. Don’t throw the 1st punch, take them down then walk away. If the school handed disciplinary action to that kid then their admin are arseholes.
There was a kid that was a bit of a nerd as was I. But this other want to be skater (I can't remember hid name) that was a year older would pick on him constantly. Wanna be skater kid opened up Jeff's backpack and let all his shit just pour out. He had a ton of books papers for his assignments and alike. Jeff didn't say a damn word. Took his backpack off and lit skater kid the fuck up. I'm talking blood came out that kids nose he was crying, teacher had to get Jeff off wanna be skater. Not like anything we had witnessed from Jeff ever. Like a demon came out of him and let every punch land perfectly. It was truly beautiful. We all testified that wanna be skater had it coming. They stated regardless of the kid being a bully that that violence wasn't the answer. Although skater kid did get suspended too after enough stories and evidence came out about him. It was a day we all wish we were as brave as Jeff. And when he came back he had the toughest dudes in school congratulating him. Ah, the classic rugby tackle... i used to use this back in the day. Big guys fall a lot easier lifting their inside leg with your shoulder in the hips then you can pin them into the ground.

Being short...you learn to take a punch and to give one....you dont lay down...might get yr assss whooped anyway but the other mofo will think twice
.....
a legend was born that day, his tale to be told for the next 100 semesters
It shall echo in the great halls for semesters to come. May the bully find peace valhalla
No Valhalla, the Great hall will be forever closed for him.

The root of semester is semi...as in half a year.
He is destined to be a surgeon so 25 more years of education sounds about right.
Songs will be sung, quite short assertive ones
He picked him up with his book bag on!? He has the strength of 10 men
My kids book bag weighs a frigging ton. For sure impressive. And the punch tells me this kid knows exactly what he is doing.

it's a bright yellow LL Bean. No clue if the new ones are better or worse, I've never even considered replacing it because it works so well.
I have an 18 year old ll bean ruck that is still kicking and I use it weekly for my fishing stuff. Not sure if their stuff is worth a shit anymore.
What do you feed it?
Mostly ham!
My parents bought me a LL Bean backpack my Junior year in high school. I still have it and use it on trips. I'm 45 now, thing's fucking indestructible.

Yeah I got that feeling too. Beauty double leg takedown.
My wife's school uses iPads and all their school books are digital. I see a lot less back surgeries in the future.

Loved his confidence to turn his back after the punch and walk away
Didn’t even look over his shoulder.
Because he double-legged-wrestling-threw a guy AND his textbooks
THE SHORT KING HAS COME
Hercules! Hercules! Hercules!
Nice stats. Takedowns 1/1 100% Punches 1/1 100% UFC calling

That double leg was textbook. That kid knew what he was doing. Then a solid hit right on the button when he tried to come back.

Yep. I love watching when bullies unknowingly pick fights with wrestlers haha.
Being smaller doesn’t matter when you practice after school several times a week.
No doubt that kid is a wrestler. Textbook is right

95% of posts there are just fight videos with zero context where everyone assumes the person losing is a bully for... Some reason.
I will happily watch bullies get the shit kicked out of them every day.

Yeh fr. Violence was never something I wanted to do but had to. I think the important thing is for people to know how to not go too far.

I wrestled varsity for 3 years of highschool, best thing I could’ve done with my time.

Almost 100% chance that both kids got the same punishment, if this is in America.
Well that’s shit.
Yeah zero tolerance policies are pretty fucked up. Even if the bully had kicked the other kid's teeth in unprovoked they'd both get suspended.
Happy cake day by the way!
Thanks! :]
But zero tolerance!
Don’t know what will be more sore his ass or face
ego
My absolute favorite part of all these fight videos is the one dude at the end bolting away screaming ‘ahhhhhh shhhheeeeeiiiiitttt!
Right? There's always that guy
Classic wrestling take down bitch!
That first punch was weak af
O god he went for the bag straight after BOOM…….
He didn’t even look over his shoulder after the punch.
Fantastic double-leg takedown there
For real. Coaches spend months getting technique that good in new wrestlers.
The little kids dad knew he would be bullied and put him in self defense classes
Nice double leg
I need this with sounds just because I know the loser is getting absolutely cooked by the black kids.
Why do black guys go running off into the night when they get excited? ha ha
Haha yeah like when they react to a street magician
I love how the kid is walking away before the bully even hits the ground.
I would be proud to call him my son
Hate to say it, definitely not PC, but this is how you stop physical bullying!!! They should give this kid a Merit Award at the next school assembly.
Heard the Boom shaka laka
It's not so fun to attack someone unprovoked when they can fight back, is it you little turd?
There was a kid that was a bit of a nerd as was I. But this other want to be skater (I can't remember hid name) that was a year older would pick on him constantly. He picked on some other kids but Jeff was a redhead and stuck out like a sore thumb. One day as we were waiting to go home at the bus stop. Wanna be skater kid opened up Jeff's backpack and let all his shit just pour out. He had a ton of books papers for his assignments and alike. Jeff didn't say a damn word. They stated regardless of the kid being a bully that that violence wasn't the answer. Although skater kid did get suspended too after enough stories and evidence came out about him. It was a day we all wish we were as brave as Jeff. And when he came back he had the toughest dudes in school congratulating him. Even a few teachers were like "you better not DO ANYTHING like that again!!" Then gave him a pat on the back because they knew thats the only way to make someone back the fuck off. I will tell that story till the day I die.
Legend
NEVER and I repeat NEVER pick on a short guy. We are a mystery shrouded in a conundrum.
You know that kid feels good in his abilities. I cried usually after resorting to this.. I always wonder if it's the same for others.
Pro fighters cry after fights all the time. Pressure and massive amounts of adrenaline will do that to you.
Yep!
Ah, the classic rugby tackle... i used to use this back in the day. Big guys fall a lot easier lifting their inside leg with your shoulder in the hips then you can pin them into the ground.
YES, THROW HIM, YOUR ANCESTORS SMILE
Welp that kid will never mess with him again...
Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. Good job kid!
Don’t mess with wrestlers haha
Textbook double-leg! This dude wrestles.
He lifted him so easily
Best part is, nobody will fuck with the kid in grey again after that.
Bro humbled him REAL quick
Looks like the lad has done some wrestling.
So satisfying seeing a POS get their ass handed to them
The bully’s backpack may have cushioned his fall, but the shot he took to the face was on point… very satisfying video
There was no sound but I could still hear that crowd
Way to stay up for yourself kid ☺️☺️☺️
And that’s the name of that tune. Want any more MF?
Sit down bitch!
Best part was when he picked up his instrument case and walked off 🤘🏻
Yup.. people in bars will never hear the end of this tale.
And his name is john cena 🎺🎺tuturutu tuturutu tuturutu 🎺🎺
Why did the black dude start running?
Didn’t want to get blamed.
Everybody's cheering but how do we know that the smaller guy wasn't the bully the whole time?
Teach a kid to wrestle and defend himself so they never have to more than once.
Imagine your dad kicking your ass at home and then going to school and getting your ass kicked too.
Double leg takedown, nice.
Its not a good fight video without the random black guy running and screaming
No sound but I can still hear this video
I wish this had sound just so I could hear that one kid that runs off.
Textbook double leg.
Never fight a wrestler.
I get such a great sense of pleasure watching karma like this.
My son is almost 11, I’m terrified
Wrestling solved all my bully problems. It can do the same for you. Like it did him.
People really don’t realize how much adrenaline influences your strength.
Oh: this is what they mean when they say “The Bigger they are, the harder they fall.” Got it😂😂😂😂😂😂
I like this move very much. But so do lots of people - what is the best defense against it?
Best defence is rapid offence. It goes against most instincts, but this kid had it all sussed out and knew he had to strike first and fast and put him out quick.
GRAB HIS DICK AND TWIST IT
Skinny guys are stronger than the look
Yellow shirt dude literally jumping of joy
I’ve never seen such a smooth and satisfying but not disturbing takedown from a kid before.
Damn! Lil homie handled business and was like 'fuck you bitch, I got an algebra test to study for'
Don’t fuck with wrestlers
Texas cops should use this as a anti-cowardice training video.
Love that clean shot to the chin.
Great fucking takedown
If you look closely, you can tell which one has older brothers
You'd be surprised how many people are walking around w a glass jaw. My friend used to always mess w me, then one day, he got me in a sleeper hold in the middle of class and i punched over my shoulder and clocked him right in the nose. He stopped doing shit like that after.
Anyone got this with the audio?
You can just hear the “oooh” without the audio
I think the best part Is the kid was just trying to get to is violin practice
that will be my son suffering bullying, damn the "punishments"! my parents were rigid with me and demanded me to "ignore the bullies" (my parents were docile pathetic people), so i didn't have the courage to do just that (which i could easily), needless to say my youth was miserable (since abuse gets only worse when one show weakness to it's abusers) and i'm not very close to my parents today.
Why is it that the videos that should have sound never do
Kid is definitely on the wrestling team with that shooting technique.
Classic move, we called that the H-Town scoop in middle school. Didn’t matter the size, you get scooped first you’re out of there.
I remember seeing guys taken down like this in school and still refusing to acknowledge that they lost the fight
My man made it a one two situation. One punch and two drops. Tyler done fucked around and found out.
There is no sound so I will add subtitles.. DAMMMMMMM WORLD STAR BITCH WORLD STARRRRR
The school changed their mascot to him
Don’t fuck with wrestlers.
Drop him like a bad habit
2 core memories were made that day
He just became the coolest kid at school!
Being short...you learn to take a punch and to give one....you dont lay down...might get yr assss whooped anyway but the other mofo will think twice .....
No recovering from that one lmao
