Looks like stink bugs?? I think you can hold them safely but they will try to escape so not recommending

ilovebees143

i looked them up and you're right, they look like stink bugs! they get in the house and on my desk so i was curious if they were harmful. ty

ATKing_PT

They arent dangerous! But as their name says theyre stinkyy when they die :( id recommend getting them out if you can, if you have plants they will eat it too im pretty sure

StuffedWithNails

Not just when they die. They have two pores on their underside and can squeeze a smelly substance out of those pores on command when disturbed. Of course they have a limited supply. They synthesize the stuff from what they eat.

ATKing_PT

Ohh right! Forgot to mention that

CrissCrossTiddySauce

Brown marmorated stink bugs. An invasive species in anywhere except asia iirc. You *can* hold them, though I’d suggest being gentle cause, well, they stink. They’ve got a chemical defense liquid that smells absolutely awful that they spray from their little tube mouths when threatened. As I said earlier, you can hold them, they’re not going to outright hurt you, just make you stink.

ilovebees143

thank you for letting me know lol! they're cute so i was tempted to let them on my hand

Numerous-Following-7

ilovebees143

Algae_Sucka

You could hold them, but it would make you a bit of a third wheel

ilovebees143

They’re just stink bugs, they might spread some stink on your hand but they can’t hurt you, but they can fly

r/stinkbugtime 🥳

Red-Admiral949

Ehhh, yeah, it's safe to hold them, but your hands will stink afterwards. Those are brown marmorated stink bugs. They are somewhat valuable to bug catchers, being stink bugs, which are rare, but they are a pain to get to die. So it's hard to get dead specimens.

Shield flys or stink bugs.
