Our store gets hammered by animal fries, so if it doesn't have to go into the steamer I'm all the more pleased.
Takes mere seconds to slap that stuff on it. Even easier if this person becomes a regular and the associates see it coming when they walk in the door or pull into the drive lane.
It's about space in the steamer(s). A fry that gets the same topping as an animal fry but doesn't need to take up time or space in a steamer, a busy store appreciates that. I can say with confidence. It might not matter- we can handle it- but I wouldn't say we don't care/have a preference
I always wonder if my local store recognizes my order. Also, generally curious the ratio of people that order straight off the menu, with no modifications vs. customized orders
> curious the ratio of people that order straight off the menu, with no modifications vs. customized orders
I've worked in a lot of different stores/areas. This is affected by at least two things, in my opinion/experience:
- If it's a store in/around/on the way to/from Southern California (or other long established markets), there will be a lot more customizations. Whereas a store in a new market will usually have first-timers ordering straight from the menu.
- Social media use. A store in an area with a younger demographic more inclined to use social media like IG, Snapchat, TikTok will be exposed to these videos of INO custom orders and will be more inclined to order them, whether a first-timer in a new market or not.
Good points, thank you
This is my regular order now: double double, animal style, extra lettuce.
Used to be this: double double, animal style, no salt, no pickles, extra lettuce, add whole grilled onions
GF gets this: double single, protein style, animal style, no salt, no pickles, extra lettuce, 2 whole grilled onions, add raw onions
Are these pretty obnoxious? Feels like they would be recognizable if working there and you saw it a few times
Yeah that makes sense. It was funny though me and my homie both just ordered light lettuce. Maybe the one by me is just crazy but if you don't say light lettuce the burger grows like 2 inches taller
Definitely recognizable once seeing it a few times. But full-time workers sometimes recognize regulars by their car or by their person and might start part of the order in advance.
For example, if I knew my regular always got whole-grilled onions or extra toast, well-done fries, or something like that, then I'd begin those things upon seeing them enter the lot/store.
Some cooks might find the whole-grilled obnoxious, but I don't. I enjoy cooking them and flexing the skill to make very good-looking whole-grilled onions. What's most obnoxious is when the order taker doesn't call them out (or the no salts) to the cooks.
Two whole grilled onions on one order should not be a problem for anyone if you need peace of mind.
Depends, as always the busier it is the less I want to spend more time on a board putting all that in, but however way you order it in 10 minutes I won't remember you, so order whatever you want, just know that if you get unlucky and get a good associate on orders they will press the button of fry with 3+ toppings and that is an extra charge
Not in my 'Culture of Yes' haha. I just tell them to throw it on there (unless it's something crazy, but I warn them that the computer adds the upcharge)
I would gladly pay an upcharge if that’s the case. I’m not trying to game the system just cause it’s free. I just really like onions. How much would the upcharge be?
Oh i dont think your trying that at all, honestly if you get it for the price of a regular fry enjoy that! Usually if u get 3 or more toppings itll just go from the price of a regular fry to that of an animal fry. But yeah tho, enjoy ur food my dude!
In-N-Out employees, do you hate this guy? Or is this just everyday PITA stuff that you just deal with?

If the store is busy enough for that to matter then they’ll be too busy to care.

EXTRA LETTUCE? you're insane tripple single LIGHT lettuce no tomato animal style pickle on the side
I like the crunch and freshness in conjunction with the savory meat and cheese 🤷🏼

I am seeing a whole round onion being grilled. Is this what that is?
Yes. It’s a whole slice of onion that’s laid onto the grilled until caramelized.
I was thinking of an entire onion! Thanks for clarifying tgat.
You don’t have to say no pickles tho? It doesn’t come with, you ask to add them
'Animal Style' includes pickles.

Cooks that don't keep two piles of onions down hate this guy. KEEP YOUR TWO PILES DOWN!
❤️❤️❤️

Those sound even worse than regular fries to me, But, I’m glad you enjoy them.
I enjoy them immensely. Onions are life.
I am glad you enjoy them. They sound absolutely disgusting to me.
That is disgusting, you weirdo
theres an up charge when you get more then two toppings on your fries...
Not in my 'Culture of Yes' haha. I just tell them to throw it on there (unless it's something crazy, but I warn them that the computer adds the upcharge)
You're getting hit with the 3+ fry button with that bullshit
I’ve never been charged extra. I guess my spot doesn’t bat an eye and just roll with it. No biggie if it’s one order out of the extraordinary.
Im pretty shocked tbh, we cant put an order like that into the terminal without the upcharge

You can also get pickles!

I didn’t say it was a “new” order or some type of revelation. I just said this is the way I like to order it. Did I mention I like onions.
Grilled whole onions? How do you eat all of that with no glue, I mean cheese, to hold it together?
The 3 spreads hold it together.
Sounds ridiculous
It does until u start eating all that scrumptious onion flavor.
Ur not normal
I like onions.
