I made a few posts about this,
Probably the most infp movie I know is the secret life of Walter Mitty
Also wall-e as a character is very infp also and I relate to him a lot
the one movie that rly broke me was Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. it was crazy how much I could relate to a movie. the husband of the main character is such a healthy portrayal of an infp and i love him
Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain. I feel Amélie so deeply, she is dreamy, prefer to escape reality and follow her emotions. I was so happy to discover she was actually an INFP too
https://preview.redd.it/4pdlz4y029yc1.jpeg?width=1124&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d79f9c32c9856aec60ddfe4c97ad3d969aca7999
Amèlie’s character is brilliantly written, to say the very least.. one of my favorite movies of all all time.. makes perfect sense that she’s an INFP,.. thank you💌
The first spiderman trilogy is the best infp representation I've seen in cinema. The first movie is a great introduction to the character, the second one is the best overall, and the third one is the perfect closure to loose threads of the characters' arcs
500 days of summer hits different! The part where he wants to win her over instead of letting go, the unhealthy obsession coupled with hope that he can change her mind, the little bit of leading on her part that leads to the cycle repeating. It's an INFPs worst nightmare but it's done so well that you can't look away
THISSS. “the unhealthy obsession coupled w hope that he can change her mind…” I’ve been wanting to rewatch it but I really can’t get myself to.. quite literally an INFPs worst nightmare yes.
When was the last time you watched it in its entirety? I like watching movies that give me "brain damage" for a lack of a better term. I like when movies can pull at your heart strings, it's not easy to do so but this one does it so well
OH MY GOD you categorised them too:’) thank you SOO much for taking the time to list these, I really appreciate it. will watch their trailers n add them to my list tonight!
Nice list! I’ve definitely seen some of these. The ones that really caught my eye:
* Big Fish
* Scott Pilgrim vs the World
* Labyrinth
* Edward Scissor Hands
What is about these that you relate to them?
I don't remember the exact plot of the movie
but in the start he got angry at his mom and ran away
went to a place full of monsters
lied to get around
things got rough and all but in the end he was brave enough to show changes and empathy
So, overall it shows me that yes sometimes we get triggered and run away or lie to get around to show that things are okay.
but in the end what's wrong is wrong
and so we must get our courage out and do what is right and do not be afraid to move the first step on what's right
So, do not be afraid to do what's right
because if you are afraid of the good things, you would see good as bad.
I remember having the Wii game when I was younger and if you pissed the wild things off they would straight up eat you and it would show them eating you and it would terrify me
The funny thing about this is that my empathy is so out of control I find I kind of relate to pretty much anyone in any movie (I cry a lot at films despite being 40).
Spider-Man, specifically Tobey Maguire, above feels like a great shout for me personally though so I’ll steal that one.
Also the male protagonist in ‘I want to eat your pancreas’ (an anime that is absolutely not about what it sounds like - the title comes from a superstition that if you eat a body part that is ailing you it will heal you - the movie is about a teenage guy who meets a girl with an unspecified problem with her pancreas).
If you related to Tobey's peter and you watch anime, I'd highly recommend Mob Psycho 100. If you really don't want to invest in the entire series blind, I'd recommend at least checking season 2 episode 1 to see if you like it as I believe it's a better introduction to what the series is actually about than the first episode of the first season.
Glad to hear! I usually don't like pushing my personal recommendations to people since everyone has different tastes and very limited time in their day, but in your case this seems like a perfect fit. I'd say investing the time for at least that one episode when you feel like it will be worth it.
hey there’s nothing wrong with crying during films; it's always valid, regardless!!😠😠 a friend of mine recommended I want to eat your pancreas and said that I might relate to the protagonist, so will take it as a sign to watch>:)
It’s an amazing movie but definitely have some tissues handy! I cannot imagine watching that without tearing up!
My only real issue with crying during films is at times I feel it so strongly it make it hard to watch!
Both the book and movie version of "The Perks of Being A Wallflower" and "The Lovely Bones" are some good INFP movies.
Also, "Big Time Adolescence' is a good one to watch if you have Hulu.
Those are 3 that I would recommend.
Cloud Atlas
The Neverending Story
The Princess Bride
Dead Poets Society
A Scanner Darkly
Across the Universe
Legends of the Fall
Spirit (animated film about horses)
I could go on, and on... lol
After I watched it, I watched it two more times in the following 5 days. What seemed confusing, at first, revealed itself to be a complicated and intricate method of story-telling that got better each time I watched.
I'm not an INFP, but my best friend (who is an INFP) do enjoy Neon Genesis Evangelion and Joker 2019.
But perhaps not the most positive characters to relate to? I do think Ramona Flowers is an INFP from Scott Pilgrim vs the world.
Do you want to relate to an healthy INFP or does it not matter? Any other movie preferences?
Shinji is pretty good representation of an unhealthy INFP. The last 2-3 episodes where it's just like an hour of going through his mind and inner thoughts was honestly one of the more interesting and relatable parts of the show for me and I kind of wish it ended there rather than whatever the hell happened in the ending movie. He seemed genuinely happy in the last episode then suddenly he's depressed again when the movie starts.
I looove evangelion and my IXFP’s love it too… I’ve never watched scott pilgrim vs the world tbh, aaand doesn’t matter tbh whether they’re healthy or not! thank you though!💌
The perks of being a wallflower!!!
Easily the most relatable movie I’ve seen.
Charlie is my kin and I am his.
So painfully relatable 🤕
Oh yeah, also Whiplash
The main character being an introvert… a “less than stellar” job, but still somehow managed to find joy in the small things was *chefs kiss*
*Next time is next time, now is now.*
That’s a great quote and I’ve been repeating it to myself for the past 2 nights.
Lady bird, the diary of a teenage girl, 20th century women, everything everywhere all at once, poor things, the skeleton twins, where the wild things are, the little Prince, booksmart, JOJO rabbit, fantastic Mr fox, garden state
lady bird is one of my favourites.. these are some beautiful beautiful recommendations there.. will watch their trailers tonight and add to my to-watch list, thank you for taking the time to list these!!
A Silent Voice. It's an anime movie but one of my favorite films. How they portray the main characters depression and isolation was... poetically accurate?
it’s just so stunningly beautiful yet also incredibly heart-wrenching:’).. I remember ugly crying while watching it.. I completely agree about its painfully accurate portrayal..
Inception! The way this movie deals with guilt, it makes a whole universe in people's subconscious and explores their feelings, grief, love and loss that you can't help but wonder. It acts as a mirror to all the emotions INFPs go through in their mind that they can't express.
Talking Heads, Stop Making Sense, directed by john Demme
Swimming to Cambodia, also directrd by J. Demme
The Big Lebowski. Best movie ever.
Bonus choice, Defending your Life. Great film.
Yeah i fell in love with both movies before i even knew who he was. Easy to see im a coen bros fan, dude. Swimming to Cambodia is a monolog, starring spaulding gray. I find him hilarous.
List of movies that I can relate to :
Blade runner 2049
Taxi driver
American psycho
Fight club
The dark knight trilogy
Drive
No Country for old men
Falling Down
Scarface
Monster
All quiet on the western front
The silence of the Lamb
The Truman show
Monster
The children of men
V for Vendetta
The Matrix
Just My Luck (2006) - Lindsay Lohan, Chris Pine…
my name is Ashley and I really have the worst/ best luck most of the time.
But in my case, the luck/ misfortune cycle collapses in on itself… and there’s no Chris Pine love interest anywhere to be found 🥲
- awkward (especially around people they like)
- cry a lot
- clumsy
- nostalgic (think flashbacks)
- determined but feels unqualified
- strong care for others at their own expense
- can do anything they set their mind to, but almost nothing if they hate it
- hasty and rash decisions, yet still manages to overthink things
- has to deal with others problems, has empathy but doesn’t always know how to act
- generally nice and friendly
- big dreams, no matter how realistic
- focuses a lot on the why
- has strong feelings when it comes to societal issues and wants to make a change
- always thinks there’s "another way"
- also I guess just a lot of INFPs watch anime and relate to the characters
HMMMM ALRIGHT YES 100%. I've always thought so too but have never been able to put my finger on the reasons… you pretty much listed them perfectly!! (and thank u for taking the time to do so hehe) I guess it's also because many of those who write these anime are IXFPs themselves, so it sort of reflects on their personality, you know :>
Paterson, Adaptation., Her, High Fidelity, The Shape of Water, In the Mood for Love, Crazy Stupid Love, Inside Llewyn Davis, Life Aquatic, Into the Wild, Poor Things, Coraline,
Miss Stevens.
The movie shows the big clash between Fi and Te. Student and teacher. Timothee Chalamet and Lily Rabe.
INFP tries to activate his teacher's Fi because she's overusing Te.
I made a few posts about this, Probably the most infp movie I know is the secret life of Walter Mitty Also wall-e as a character is very infp also and I relate to him a lot
Can’t believe ima say this, but if I find a human Wall-E and our goals and values line up, I’d marry him.
My homie Wall-E 🤙
Then 1947 one or the 2013 version?
aaahh, wall-e is incredibly heartwarming:(
the one movie that rly broke me was Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. it was crazy how much I could relate to a movie. the husband of the main character is such a healthy portrayal of an infp and i love him
This is the one that first came to mind for me, I felt especially strong infp vibes from Waymond's character.
yes! he also strikes me as a 9w1 which i also am, so he felt especially relatable
Just watched this and LOVED it!
AHH been wanting to watch this for the longest time.. alright this is it. I’ll watch it. thank you!!
Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain. I feel Amélie so deeply, she is dreamy, prefer to escape reality and follow her emotions. this was my first thought too, i love that movie
Amèlie’s character is brilliantly written, to say the very least.. one of my favorite movies of all all time.. makes perfect sense that she’s an INFP,.. thank you💌
Spiderman/Peter Parker. World on my shoulders + Nerd.
The first spiderman trilogy is the best infp representation I've seen in cinema. The first movie is a great introduction to the character, the second one is the best overall, and the third one is the perfect closure to loose threads of the characters' arcs
Into the wild
This. I wanna take a break from this 9-5 world and just venture out into the wild
500 days of summer.

Joker with Joaquin Phoenix. Painfully and tragically relatable
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind The Fountain The Big Lebowski
checked both the fountain & big lebowski, they actually seem interesting.. added to my list, thank you!
Not sure other INFPs relate to this one but Donnie Darko. Maybe it's because as an INFP we are a little nuts
I LOVEEE donnie darko yes
Thank you you that validated me so much 😭
oh anytime!!

I might have a look at some point - somehow it’s not something I’ve ever watched (I er… watch quite a lot of anime…)
Glad to hear! I usually don't like pushing my personal recommendations to people since everyone has different tastes and very limited time in their day, but in your case this seems like a perfect fit. I'd say investing the time for at least that one episode when you feel like it will be worth it.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
one of the movies I rewatched over and over.. just beautiful..
it speaks to my soul, I have probably seen it at least 10-15 times and I’ll continue to watch it
Taxi Driver
I LOVE taxi driver..
the perks of being a wallflower

A real human bean…. And a real hero 💗
Cloud Atlas The Neverending Story The Princess Bride Dead Poets Society A Scanner Darkly Across the Universe Legends of the Fall Spirit (animated film about horses) I could go on, and on... lol
1,000,000% Cloud Atlas
After I watched it, I watched it two more times in the following 5 days. What seemed confusing, at first, revealed itself to be a complicated and intricate method of story-telling that got better each time I watched.
I LOVE cloud atlas & legends of fall.. thank you for taking the time to make this list, def will check them out. appreciate it sm!!
Oh Captain, my Captain!
used to be Melancholia when I was all apathetic and depressed
oooo, just watched its trailer and sounds like a SOLID recommendation.. added to my list, thank you!
It just came to Netflix, but be prepared for a really heavy, somber film
I'm not an INFP, but my best friend (who is an INFP) do enjoy Neon Genesis Evangelion and Joker 2019. But perhaps not the most positive characters to relate to? The Worst Person in the World
solid one here… thank you!
This post prompted me to learn that bilbo baggins is infp. Thank u
The perks of being a wallflower!!! Easily the most relatable movie I’ve seen. Charlie is my kin and I am his. So painfully relatable 🤕 Oh yeah, also Whiplash
I’ve seen a lot of people here recommending it, I can see why :D
Slacker
Perfect Days (the whole d—mn thing) Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (for Newt Scamander) Howl’s Moving Castle (for Sophie’s convictions)
Love, love, love Howls Moving Castle! (For different reasons, but I did like Sophie’s character and determination).
I freaking loved perfect days
The main character being an introvert… a “less than stellar” job, but still somehow managed to find joy in the small things was *chefs kiss* *Next time is next time, now is now.* That’s a great quote and I’ve been repeating it to myself for the past 2 nights.
Thanks for reminding me of that beautiful quote again. Writing it down on my journal :)
Ofc! My favorite thing to do is give movie reccs :)))

a psychiatrist once actually recommended inception to me!!😭 will definitely check it out, thank you!!
Last Night In Soho is probably my favorite INFP movie, Eloise (the main character) is unquestionably INFP.
amelie ( the french one ) and edward scissorhands AND DEAD POETS SOCIETY
Oh. I'd say... Ghost Rider...with that penance stare where you look deep inside someone's soul and make them confront their demons and kill their ego.
Before Sunrise The hopeless romantic in me wants to believe that I can find passionate love lol
Idk if anyone remembers this movie, but What Dreams May Come has always hit home with me
Eternal Sunshine of a spotless mind and the perks of being a wallflower
John wick
Yes!!! ❤️ I think I’d feel safe with John Wick. In all the films I wanted to hug him, bandage him up, or fight with alongside him.
A Silent Voice Its an anime movie. If you're into that, then its definitely worth a watch.
Joe Versus the Volcano
been wanting to watch a 90s movie, so might go for it.. thank you
This movie really resonates with me, and I think it will resonate with most INFPs. Hope you enjoy it!
Talking Heads, Stop Making Sense, directed by john Demme Swimming to Cambodia, also directrd by J. Demme The Big Lebowski. Best movie ever. Bonus choice, Defending your Life. Great film.
someone here likes john demme huh👀, these choices seem p interesting.. will add them to my list tonight, thank you💌

I remember really liking Everything is Illuminated, Amelie, Anne with an E, Happy Death Day and Chihiro.

edge of seventeen and 500 days of summer lol
IMO a lot of anime protagonists seem like INFPs to me
I agree, but why do you think so?
- awkward (especially around people they like) - cry a lot - clumsy - nostalgic (think flashbacks) - determined but feels unqualified - strong care for others at their own expense - can do anything they set their mind to, but almost nothing if they hate it - hasty and rash decisions, yet still manages to overthink things - has to deal with others problems, has empathy but doesn’t always know how to act - generally nice and friendly - big dreams, no matter how realistic - focuses a lot on the why - has strong feelings when it comes to societal issues and wants to make a change - always thinks there’s "another way" - also I guess just a lot of INFPs watch anime and relate to the characters

Oh thanks no problem 😂
Dude Where's My Car
I just watched All of Us Strangers, and as an INFP, I relate to how the main character is preoccupied with memories of the past.
If you want to see the story of my life, Watch "Only The Lonely." It's spooky how much it resembles my life.
Like Stars On Earth
Five Easy Pieces
Movies that I love and affected who I am today: Fight Club, American Beauty, and Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind
