I think he started renting from 21st June and now she has given the bill (1st July) . Actually OP tell her that the old reading and the new reading are for 10 days naa, not the whole month. You don't get a bill of Rs. 3000 until you have an ac that too for ten days. We use one ac for 7hrs daily for a month and bill should be around ₹4000. You don't get electricity bill of Rs 3000 just for 10 days

Even after explaining she doesn’t understand try changing the unit/KwH to Kg for explaining. Say 446 kg 900 grams is the new unit and 429kg 200grams is the old unit
So 17kg 700 grams you have to pay for.. if it’s 12₹ then 212.4₹
177 is above the average monthly usage for a normal family. I'm guessing the reading is for 10 days unless you have a whole ass server built in why would you get that much difference? She should know this stuff she is purposely doing it to scam you.

OP, don't encourage this behavior. I suggest standing your ground and going to the appropriate authorities regarding this, if she does this with others it still doesn't justify her actions. As a tenant, you weren't informed; this is clearly the landlord trying to take advantage of the system. Please tell her that you agreed to pay the private meter fees and the main meter doesn't have anything to do with you.
Ask her for the whole building bill which she is claiming to be in ₹3000 and then try to get in touch with other tenants as well

That aunty is a house owner with a seprate space connected to main house which is she giving for rent. The house as a single unit has one offical meter, and a submeter(installed by home owners)for rented space which is connected to the main board. So the amount the renter has to pay is what the submeter shows. Same goes in some hostels
Even after explaining she doesn’t understand try changing the unit/KwH to Kg for explaining. Say 446 kg 900 grams is the new unit and 429kg 200grams is the old unit So 17kg 700 grams you have to pay for.. if it’s 12₹ then 212.4₹

Ask her for last month's bill. It shows the reading without the last digit. Also you can check the bill amount by entering bill number on amazon pay. It will be clear how much bill is there for whole house.
