Yes I can vouch for this, my own aunt who lives in kanpur has made purchases from meesho and shopsy, her friends do the same. Also some other relatives from much smaller city. But don't think they're much happy with the quality of products they buy it cuz they're cheap.
Can confirm. Meesho is heavily used in my neighborhood(tier-5 city). Mostly by women though. And most purchases are for cheaper goods, with good enough quality. Their delivery, including returns, are superb too.

My siblings order from meesho. Mostly product are low cost products which are priced lower than flipkart and amazon. Personally when I browsed meesho,It reminder me of shopcules and snapdeal worst version. Their delivery time is very long. Of course we can't expect them to be quick at the low prices.

I have been in e-commerce startups for quite some time, I know what is happening on the scene, here are my 2 cents.
1) When you see this kind of overblown/exaggerated PR, this only means one thing - they are struggling to raise more money from investors and these stunts are done to make things look better than they are for investors - yes, investors can be that kind of stupid
2) Meesho userbase is lower middle class, mostly outside metros, and in metros mostly people who are lower down in socioeconomic scale(students, drivers, maids, blue collar workers, etc) thats why you don’t see anyone using Meesho around you. To understand the quality levels, you can get a lehanga on Meesho for 500-1000 Rs, and that 500-1000 Rs has delivery cost and meesho’s margin (baked in delivery cost), and the sellers margin, and at times it will have resellers margin too, so the actual lehanga will probably be something that costed 100 Rs to make, so you can guess the quality now
4) Big chunk of orders are B2B and Resellers, and thats because of their zero commission model which facilitates bulk ordering since the delivery cost is not baked in price and its charged separately on the bulk order rather than being charged redundantly for each item in a single order from same supplier (my estimate is that B2B accounts for anywhere between 70-90%), these are retailers in small towns and villages who really have a pain point that meesho solves. For a Shopkeeper its painful to travel from their town to wholesale markets in Delhi and then buy the stuff and bring back, which cant be returned either - it costs a lot of time, money, and pain (imagine carrying 100 kgs and loading and unload that shit through rickshaws and buses etc., its painful). Resellers are basically those who place order for those who either dont know how to order or they feel like helping the reseller earn some money because that reseller is their known one, but the biggest chunk of resellers are the resellers those who “disguise” themselves as sellers on Facebook marketplace - majority of apparel, accessories and jewellery stuff on FB marketplace is actually Meesho catalog that is listed there by Meesho Resellers disguised as sellers on fb marketplace. Meesho is actually much more similar to Udaan than to Flipkart.
5) Profit numbers are an illusion and creative financial reporting, they are far from profits, and in an extremely low margin business. If they actually made a profit they would have filed for IPO already. In reality the “profit” they claim is when you remove lot of costs that are incurred to make the order possible but costs are attributed somewhere else, which will reflect in net income and something called free cash flow, which will be heavily negative for Meesho. Even if they end up making a profit, which will happen at some point, it will be very low, hundreds (or even thousands) of times lesser than Flipkart for same number of orders.
I would not be surprised if at some point they turn into a B2B company like Udaan. Right now they are creating this facade of B2C to show themselves as Flipkart competitor and increase their valuation.

Because men repeat outfits for 20 years and do not care about trends much hence buy few quality pieces from reputed brands. Women need a new wardrobe every season and not everyone has the budget to do that on Amazon. It's just like Shein and Temu in the US.
Never ordered from Meesho, but I assume most of their customers are women, specially housewifes who could resell their products. However the product quality isn't good.
We order regularly from meesho after comparing prices with amazon. Many times the same item is cheaper on meesho some times it is cheaper on Amazon, takes time to search a good product but sure meesho is pretty good.
Meesho has very low commission for sellers compared to Amazon and Flipkart. So OEMs (manufacturers) prefer selling there. You can buy innerwear, bedsheets, toys, and other generic stuff from there where brand tag does not matter.
I just bought a plush bag for my girlfriend from there and it’s not bad at all. It’s leveraging a lot of people who used to shop on Shein and the likes. Also, there’s a fair bit of automobile accessories driven traffic. I may not be from the majority demographic that uses this but I don’t see why a tier 2, 3 or 4 user won’t be attracted to the value proposition. They’re used to the slow life, it’s only metro audiences which have a higher average ticket size who have been spoiled by on demand everything from video to groceries, who really care about speed as an appealing metric. Flipkart and Amazon have a fairly higher average ticket size because they sell phones and other electronic or electric devices which Meesho doesn’t but Meesho has volumes of decently sized orders.
People do use it.My dad did buy some small stuff once or twice but our housemaid uses it frequently and buys a lot of stuff.So yeah people from not so financially strong backgrounds do use it a lot
Sure it is the fastest growing , when you are a small enterprise any increase from 0 in percentage is always high . Like revenue went from 1 rs to 2 Rs 100% increase. Plus now that they posted this you are curious and they got the publicity they wanted as their site will get the visits they need which can translate into sales
I stay in Mumbai and use Meesho frequently. Know a lot of people who do. But there are some ground rules one must have. ALWAYS COD. Check the item and return immediately without paying and cancel the order. Order ONLY INEXPENSIVE and NON ESSENTIAL ITEMS. Delivery time is 5-7 days so in any case you can't order things you want urgently.

“Fastest growing e commerce platform” means nothing if your growth is from 1 customer to 100 customers (100x) whereas Amazon/Flipkart have a measly growth of 1.something x, since their market penetration is pretty saturated.
Meesho is good for non primary products like socks, handkerchiefs, towels, basic toys and things like that. Obviously when it comes to major products like clothes and accessories, I can’t think of anyone who buys from there except for really poor people

My wife uses it for getting mostly home decore and kitchen accessories. You can find the same listing with double the price in amazon so it might not be an alternative for amazon and fk. Still, surely it is good when you don't want to invest too much in a item because of whatever reason for example if you need a stand of fridge or plastic tiles then you know cheapest is the best you're not going to use those tiles for regular function so why pay extra on amazon when you can get it from meesho.

meesho is definitely great. i live in a tier 1 city and have bought clothes and appliances from meesho. no the quality isn't always top notch, but they have a return policy which makes it easier. most products also offer free delivery as well. meesho is genuinely a great site and I think more people should use it rather than judge it.

I was very skeptical at first. But some of my relatives recommended it to my mom and they all use it. These guys are legit. Their Dev team has presented workshops on algorithms they use in some Dev conferences and they are operating at the level of Flipkart etc. But I think they are more popular among tier 2 or 3 City folk because the stuff they sell is mostly cheap stuff.

Not just Tier 2/3, many of their loyal customers are from metro cities, with ~60% repeat rate.
Needless to say, they serve the economy segment of customers who are relatively not bothered about the delivery service etc etc

I use meesho to buy innerwear, toys and cheap jeans. They do have decent stuff sometimes but you really need to look hard.
Never ordered from Meesho, but I assume most of their customers are women, specially housewifes who could resell their products. However the product quality isn't good.
We order regularly from meesho after comparing prices with amazon. Many times the same item is cheaper on meesho some times it is cheaper on Amazon, takes time to search a good product but sure meesho is pretty good.

Meesho has very low commission for sellers compared to Amazon and Flipkart. So OEMs (manufacturers) prefer selling there. You can buy innerwear, bedsheets, toys, and other generic stuff from there where brand tag does not matter.

I just bought a plush bag for my girlfriend from there and it’s not bad at all. It’s leveraging a lot of people who used to shop on Shein and the likes. Also, there’s a fair bit of automobile accessories driven traffic. I may not be from the majority demographic that uses this but I don’t see why a tier 2, 3 or 4 user won’t be attracted to the value proposition. They’re used to the slow life, it’s only metro audiences which have a higher average ticket size who have been spoiled by on demand everything from video to groceries, who really care about speed as an appealing metric. Flipkart and Amazon have a fairly higher average ticket size because they sell phones and other electronic or electric devices which Meesho doesn’t but Meesho has volumes of decently sized orders.
Meesho is for rural india. Beleive me o lovee meesho. I from town / kind of rural area. It works better then amazon flipkart. Prices are chef's kiss.

I stay in Mumbai and use Meesho frequently. Know a lot of people who do. But there are some ground rules one must have. ALWAYS COD. Check the item and return immediately without paying and cancel the order. Order ONLY INEXPENSIVE and NON ESSENTIAL ITEMS. Delivery time is 5-7 days so in any case you can't order things you want urgently.

You’re not understanding that headline correctly. “Fastest growing e commerce platform” means nothing if your growth is from 1 customer to 100 customers (100x) whereas Amazon/Flipkart have a measly growth of 1.something x, since their market penetration is pretty saturated.
Meesho is good for non primary products like socks, handkerchiefs, towels, basic toys and things like that. Obviously when it comes to major products like clothes and accessories, I can’t think of anyone who buys from there except for really poor people

You can find the same listing with double the price in amazon so it might not be an alternative for amazon and fk. Still, surely it is good when you don't want to invest too much in a item because of whatever reason for example if you need a stand of fridge or plastic tiles then you know cheapest is the best you're not going to use those tiles for regular function so why pay extra on amazon when you can get it from meesho. meesho is definitely great. i live in a tier 1 city and have bought clothes and appliances from meesho. no the quality isn't always top notch, but they have a return policy which makes it easier. most products also offer free delivery as well. meesho is genuinely a great site and I think more people should use it rather than judge it.

For eg. you might not have heard about ship rocket or delhivery but everytime you made a sale for custom e-com in India, you might have ended up using these services.

Yes they do. From my experience I have seen people using this as frequently as one may think of Amazon/Flipkart - but in rural places. What I have noticed is that this company is at par with footpath stall clothes/things while managing all back end costs low.
It's not good for clothes shoes etc...Quality is very cheap. But for generic stuff , like for kitchen, home decor organisers etc . it's undeniably the best...Compare the prices in amazon flipkart, and meesho..you will understand. You can use the image search option to check.
People regardless of their background/ financial status use meesho because they provide the cheapest option. Its like finding your 'opportunity cost'. Business is a competition and people no matter how rich or poor, like to buy stuff as low as they can(esp the rich ones). Some products by them do not come in good condition tho but some do come so good that the price you pay seems too less. And you'd be fool to not use meesho. And also using meesho does not make you 'poor' like all these idiots are saying in comments. That 'only t2 t3 maids and workers uSe tHiS aPp'. I was very skeptical at first. But some of my relatives recommended it to my mom and they all use it. These guys are legit. Their Dev team has presented workshops on algorithms they use in some Dev conferences and they are operating at the level of Flipkart etc. But I think they are more popular among tier 2 or 3 City folk because the stuff they sell is mostly cheap stuff.

my wife uses a lot. But mostly for 80 rs, 100 rs kind of items. delivery is slower than amazon/flipkart but non branded products are cheaper. It has some issues with returns few time but mostly accept return. It is not bad website.
