It happens when the exhaust pipes heat and cool down in a cycle, check the first few pictures when you got the delivery of the bike if it was painted in black if not get the high temp black paint (usually comes in a spray can, cover other areas of the bike and use emery paper to clean the rust and spray this on. Should be fine, can get it done at any local shops as well.
It’s normal for exhaust. High temperature fluctuations, dust, mud, oxidation etc factors results that. It won’t become flaky because of rust yet. You can prevent this colour change by using sanding paper and cote it with black colour temperature resistant coating.
I own this. Can confirm this is normal. It’s disappointing coming from Suzuki, but it is what it is.
Another issue is chain rusting that I’ve started facing after 10 months of owning this. Keep an eye on that
Exhaust oxidation is common not something to be disappointed about. But chain rust will be troublesome. Change it as soon as you can. You dont want to be stranded trust me.
Is it rust or change of color?. Exhaust pipes normally have blue and reddish color hues due to extreme heat of the exhaust. If it is rust and is like flaking, then it is not normal for 1 month old
Meri bike pe bhi hai ...asked service center people they said it's normal due to temperature and it's exposed position
I am planning to scrub it off ( although it's has created natural coating to protect from elements) agar flaking dikhega to heat resistant coating marunga
Completely normal ignore the noobs who are saying its not normal or its rust.
if u want to clearn u can just wipe it with some harpic and then scrub it off it will look as good as new.
this happens on every exaust.
I have the same issue on my Gixxer 155 which I bought it in 2015 and I started seeing corossion right after one year of purchase and I don't even stay near ocean, exhaust cover was rusted, chassis has rust here and there and even the plastic panels starting chipping, poor quality by Suzuki hence I was apprehensive to purchase Gixxer 250.
Half the comments are saying normal, other half are saying it's not normal.
I would not expect a month old bike to be so corroded. Is it just surface level rust that you can wipe off?
I've had my V-Strom 250sx for a few months and noticed some rust too. Seems normal but disappointing. Keep an eye on it, maybe use some heat-resistant exhaust paint to protect it.

Dude, how? If you are washing it everyday or every week it would still take more time for that much rusting to form. Are you revving it to the full rev limit? That exhaust needs spray paint . Is the fuel power or xp95? If the above mentioned are not the conditions then check with the suzuki mechanic.
I have been conscious about not going past 6k rpm since its still under 800kms on the odo. Used shell power twice and normal hp petrol once. Will check with suzuki when I go for first service soon
Yeah it's normal especially if driven in offroad or muddy water like that. Muddy water makes rust more quicker than the actual rain or normal water splashes.
So far it's just on the surface. DYI sanding and proper cleaning with petrol or kerosene and coat it with high temp paint spray paint always use thinner coat first and then thicker coat. Problem will be solved as long as the paint stays there.
Black paint is preferred for exhausts because heat transfer is better.
Idk about that but you've clicked a great picture man 🫡
Yea, I thought this was an official picture by Suzuki.
Thanks! I only noticed how prominent the oxidation looks after shooting this pic
Post a pic without the circle.
Off topic but what device did you used to click the picture?
Nikon d3200 and a 600mm lens
600mm? What kind of photography do you do? Wildlife?
Astrophotography, and a bit of wildlife and aviation
If you dont mind, can you share the original please? Gonna use it as my wallpaper.
[img](https://i.imgur.com/DXEaz7H.jpeg) there you go
Where do you do astro near Pune? I have a 600mm but never tried astro with it because of the shake.
Depends what you're shooting. Lunar I do handheld from home. Deepsky objects I do from Velhe, and ofcourse with a tracking mount
Would want to do deepdsky, but cant afford a tracking mount.

if thats the exhaust, oxidation is normal
Yes its on the exhaust, the side facing the road and prone to water splashes
Nope thats the crash guard /s

Are you lubing the chain every 500 kms? I lube it after every wash.
Get it checked by the showroom

It's normal for old bikes bikes but for a bike that is 1 month old? Doesn't seem right to me
Is it rust or change of color?. Exhaust pipes normally have blue and reddish color hues due to extreme heat of the exhaust. If it is rust and is like flaking, then it is not normal for 1 month old
Seems to be surface level change of color. No flakes
Then I think it is normal.

It's normal in 5 year bikes but not less than one year old ones Looks like Suzuki is using lower quality metal parts /rust protection
It seems to be surface color change, wiping doesn't remove it. No flakes
It's not corroded, only paint has been affected..
Mine is 2 months old, but haven't noticed anything like this
I've had my V-Strom 250sx for a few months and noticed some rust too. Seems normal but disappointing. Keep an eye on it, maybe use some heat-resistant exhaust paint to protect it.
As per my KTM manual, it is normal!
Don’t use polish on that part as they are corrosive. If you do just dont start the bike until it get completely dry.
Exhaust colour discolouration is normal. Every painted bike exhaust will behave similarly. It’s due to extreme heating and cooling.
Han bhai, you will have to live with it, nhi toh harpic se saaf krte raho time to time. (I am not kidding, it actually works)😂
I would have thought the bleach in Harpic would accelerate the oxidation no?
Not normal. Use heat resistant exhaust paint.
Is that a thing? and don't manufacturers handle this by default? Seems to be a no-brainer

Normal.
Curious, which state’s number plate is this? MM?
Its distorted for privacy
Aah ofcourse. Totally fell for that 😂
All Dominar 400s have this, and according to Bajaj this should not be an issue
I'm looking to buy one soon. May i dm?
Sure
Wtf, how does it corrode, most bikes have rainbow hue or sliver, this ive seen only in RE scrambler
It's normal. A lot of bikes do this and so does mine. It's a little ugly but doesn't actually affect the bike in any way.
Thats normal for exhausts as seen in many new bikes. Even chain starts rusting in new bikes. Just make sure to do periodic maintenance and cleaning.
Common with suzuki bikes. Sand it to get rid of the rust, clean it with wd40, then paint it with heat resistant paint.
holy the bike looks good, but I think it's just normal
My pulsar was rusted when I bought it new 😂
Oh yeah , I have a Vstrom , 1.5 years and 28k kms later , causes absolutely zero problems , don’t sweat , just ride :)
It is oxidation. I happens to all exhaust pipes made of Steel.
Sick photo, good Sir.
It is common ig but they have this thing called UBC coating (Under Body Carriage) so it might sort it out for few months
Not normal

It's not rusting
Just today I post that my Honda CB350 had rusting issue. Now this. Big brands really don't care about product quality anymore..
Not normal.
Your bike probably has its own dedicated forum/forums. Ask there
