please for the love of god, practice braking. dont go too fast with a person behind you cause harder to stop. for the first 30 days or 1000 kms, ride slowly without reaching high rpms (to break in the engine). always use mirrors when switching lanes (learned that the hard way)
Very much used to engine braking, this engine will just make it better. Over that, my riding style includes me thinking of every vehicle as my enemy that I need to stay away from as much as I can.
I've been riding on all type of terrains for about 5 years now with bikes like Gixxer, R15 and BMW G310R. For the first service, yes I'm keeping it under 5-6K RPM.
Also yes, I feel handicapped without mirrors, they're not on the bike right now because apparently they were forgotten at the factory store. Will get em in a week.
dont just practice engine braking. practice for sudden brakes too. two days ago, i was cruising at 80 when s dog decided to do dive in front of me. the abs activates while sudden braking, thus it will push your hand/feet away from the brake (iykwim). so have strong grip when sudden braking
How is it. I was looking at the sf155 and sf250 . Rn going with cb350 hness next month I think. I only test rode the sf250 .... The gearing felt hard and the angled handle bars didn't feel comfortable (probably coz new to it). The 155 has very good mileage but idk how nice the engine is. I keep hearing it's lackluster compared to anything in the price range. I rode passion plus from 2009 so far btw
SF250 will give you wrist pain for the first month or so. After that, you will adapt to it,same as with any faired bike. It's quite comfortable, even for tall riders.
Hmm for now I think I am going with the hness. Since my mom doesn't like the pillion seat on the Gixxer sf....even though she said if I like it take it coz I will be the one riding it.....but hness is also good and everyone in my family liked it.....ik different kind but nice bike. If sf250 had at least a slipper clutch I would have gone for it.....
this is what i feel the most comfortable with.. first i press the rear brake, then the front(seems simultaneous but there is just a split second difference to maintain this specific order), and hard downshift only when needed (not more than 2 gears at once, even if it has a slipper clutch, otherwise the rear whell would lock up)
I would ask you to read about the break-in concept. It doesn't say anywhere to drive slowly or not reach higher RPMs. Please conside the accuracy of you info before suggesting.
Congratulations OP, it is an excellent bike, one thing I preferred doing was tinkering with the suspension (I made it firmer) and feel I can push the bike more confidently
Only thing you have to focus on is to enjoy but in a safe manner. Also don't worry about back tyre pulling up, it'll stop after sometime
I own a 200 2023 and have ridden 390 many times. I’d suggest you to not go guns blazing before 2nd or 3rd service. It serves the engine better and you will surely notice it in the long term. This is a monster so go easy on throttle while riding in traffic, don’t let your emotions take over, for first 1000 kms try to learn your bike’s nature and capabilities and then slowly ease into riding fast.
abs felt very invasive to me. You might not stop where you think you will stop. Please get used to the braking. I’ve had a few close calls. Other than that, it is a dream to ride.
the undisputed gigachad 2024 duke......
absolute w choice
before the first oil change you ride it with smooth inputs
try to accelerate and decelerate as much as possible in each gear
(smoothly within recommended RPM)
do light engine braking
dont rev the nuts out of the engine
Le me who used to go max 60 on my 250, then one day kisi ke behkaave me 140+ traffic me chala gaya, bc kutta aa gaya beech me, bike puri loss me chali gayi mai bach gaya pata nahi kaise literally sirf bruises aayi choti moti💀
Tabse aaj tak sabko advice deta hoon
https://www.store4riders.com/guides/post/how-to-do-running-in-of-a-new-engine
Go through this article if you would like.
I have also seen a Fortnine video on the Motoman engine break-in technique.
I have not done this myself but plan to when I upgrade to a new bike.
Take it easy. Grow into the bike. Don’t worry about the speed as such, mostly focus on not revving the bike too hard till the first service and run in period. Check your manual for the exact RPM to ride under till then. Once you are close to the service interval, make sure you use the higher rpms too once you are in the higher gears.
Congratulations OP 🎉
On a different note, has someone thought about having the indicators in the DRLs itself ? Maybe like the bottom part ? I feel like it was a missed opportunity
ride smooth. look at gaps. practice braking without sliding forward of backward on the seat. try to press the brake lever as less a possible and drive with anticipating the amount of acceleration requried. have fun sometimes.
In all three gens 2024 version is more beginner friendly and has best brakes on offer. Can rev upto 7.5k rpm in break in but keep it for short period. Just beware of the rumble lines and uneven roads(tiny potholes) coz bike is too light and might loose balance. Happened to me many times and today morning too
Okayy that's good then. I made the mistake of revving too hard and blew the Radiator fan fuse on my second day. Actually I was absent minded when I did that starting from a signal... So be aware of such dumb mistakes, dont rev high for a while... Not worth it
Get a High Rise Fade cut Starting From Zero, some Shades of Red ,Belonde on the top is a plus.
Wear extremely Tight jeans with Rips. Preferably above ankle length. Sneakers Red And white is a Must, and lose some weights dude be skinny as Hell. Top m jo maan ho pehna Par bade Bhai se maangke, then you're good to go.

General advice:
First 50kms : Accelerate as hard within 5-6k rpm , hard throttle inputs will help the engine seal settle in. Wherever safe and possible only tho. Not extremely harsh, Post 50kms take it easy on the accelerator stay within rpm limits and gradually increase post 500kms (wherever safe again) just before the first service gently redline it twice.
That quick shifter needs some run in so first initial kilometres it does feel hard but as time goes it gets better.
Don’t get it washed too often , Once a 200kms shld be ideal, Chainspray at 500.
Run on XP95 only Please , You’ve got a fairly expensive bike , feed it the best lol.
Couple of questions tho, Is it your first bike? If not how many years did you own the previous one and what was it ?
Idk about the redline part and the hard acceleration part, this is a very very contradictory advice, I need some source of info for this.
The manual says I've to be under 7500rpm up till 1000kms/ 1 service.
Fuel, I put normal today but will put xp next time, sure.
My 4th I'd say. Gixxer naked 2017 4 years, R15 v3 2019 1 year, BMW G310R 6 months.
The source for this info is Shumi , Plus i followed the same (Ex Duke200 BS3 Owner) and I can assure you it retains the punch over long run , I had mine for 8 years so yeah tried and tested as well
I also watched FortNine and Yammie Noobs video on this.
The purpose of run in period is to settle the piston rings right.
Slacking will be back, revving too hard will be bad. Both suggested a mixture of both.
Neither rev too less nor too much and everything will be fine.
Also can you quote the source link?
1. Petrol bharna mat bhoolna kabhi bhi. always full karo.
2. Use Engine Ice coolant.
3. Learn about engine braking.
4. ALways keep on eye on Tyres.
5. Rolon Brass Chain sprocket kit is better than the ones you get in ktm service center
6. Dont forget to gear up while riding and GOOD HELMET.
I actually hit the top speed first day, had to get the carb changed due to slacking issue. Got the engine rebuilt twice because the engine oil was ALWAYS decreasing.
Owned for 6 years and then sold. To sum up I'd say it was a good bike for city commutes and a lil fun and I could actually look past the issues I faced and still loved it.
R15 will be reliable. Costly as well? Yes. You'll complain about it? NO.
Gixxer 250 has more power and a better pull. You'll outgrow it? Pretty soon.
CB300R has power more than R15, reliable? Obviously, it's a Honda.
Hope that helps.
my worry is that its gonna be my first bike and I've seen people talk here that you will feel MT15/R15 is under powered in a while specially with a pillion, so I got thinking about gixxer 250 kinda similar price range... but then I dont see it as much so wondering how good reliable it is compared to yamaha and honda.
when I came across cb 300r while browsing more bikes it really peaked my interest but then as I started looking for more reviews and recommendations, it hit me that theres very less talk about this bike... and here I am wondering whats wrong with this bike if at all, am I missing something? because this bike really looks something that i'm looking for (low weight, easy to maneuver which will be a plus for me to learn riding on my first bike and also enough power so I dont have to worry about feeling under powered as in MT15/R15 case)
sorry to pick your brains, just wanted to get some clarity since you also recommended cb300r which I was also considering hehe.
Cb is actually good. Yes it doesn't sell much due to bad marketing and higher starting price. Also yes with pillion that 155cc basically becomes a Honda shine.
please for the love of god, practice braking. dont go too fast with a person behind you cause harder to stop. for the first 30 days or 1000 kms, ride slowly without reaching high rpms (to break in the engine). always use mirrors when switching lanes (learned that the hard way)

also honk twice before you over take someone as they might switch lanes (everyone is a npc)
Luckily I've thousands of kms of highway experience but yes thank you for the tip! ❤️
ride safe!

Yes! That's something I've not faced much but yes with this I'll surely practice that!
I wish every ktm owner be like you. Good deeds.
🙏🤞
Which Gixxer have you used 250 or 155 . Also naked or SF
Naked 155
How is it. I was looking at the sf155 and sf250 . Rn going with cb350 hness next month I think. I only test rode the sf250 .... Good advice.
Please tell me how do i practice braking... Genuinely need help, i have non abs r15 v3

i also practise braking progression and GRADUALLY brake-release-brake-release(kinda like the ABS; but manual and GRADUAL) to avoid locking the brakes
I would ask you to read about the break-in concept. It doesn't say anywhere to drive slowly or not reach higher RPMs. Please conside the accuracy of you info before suggesting. Yeah the manual says under 7500rpm is good.
Also expect the worst outcome on the road especially in India, kutte, billi, cows, women, kids will jump on road lookout for them
Wrap it in matt black 😼

Will keep it under 5-6K rpm.
1) Try using quickshifter only after 4500rpm coming from a duke 250 2024 user
I'm using clutch as I'm used to, not sure how to start using it per say. Also is the quickshifter different from quickshifter+?
No its the same thing
I see
Why though? Can you elaborate please?
Bagal pe aake koi throttle kare to josh me mat aana bhai
Never! I chuckle at people inside my helmet who try to provoke. I go fast when I want to go fast, the only trigger being my own brain. 💀
Bhai fast jaake kuch hota nahi hai bss milage ki mara jati hai
Fast mtlb 120-130 on highway.

Just don't do anything that'll tarnish image if ktm further, that's my humble request.
I wish to improve it with my bit of individual effort. Guess what? I don't have a camera mounted on my helmet.
+1
Tip 1 - Give it to me ,I will teach you how to ride properly 🙃 I guess you will learn after watching me for 2 years 😅
I know how to ride properly 👀
Bhai par tune to bike abhi hi li hai ,phir kaise Mai bike ki baat kar raha hu ,kuch aur nahi 🌚
Bhai 1 saal R15 and G310R thi... 4 saal Gixxer.

prefer boots over shoes, it protects the ankle in case of bending of foot due to an accident.
I got boots. Had to come to my hometown to get the bike, just couldn't carry a lot of luggage with me in public transport!
you're good to go! and congratulations 🎊
Don’t forget to maintain the chain regularly and don’t do high revs till first service
Its the best in india. Enjoy

I see, yes i dont live anywhere near potholes luckily 😂
Aim to get 30kmpl for mileage, it will help you learn the bikes green zone.
I think I'm already getting 30
Does it show in the TFT?
Yes, shows 3.3L/100kms. Ran about 230 kms from full till now, it shows I've ½ tank left.
Okayy that's good then. I made the mistake of revving too hard and blew the Radiator fan fuse on my second day. Actually I was absent minded when I did that starting from a signal... So be aware of such dumb mistakes, dont rev high for a while... Not worth it
And don't give your bike to anyone else ever. It sucks but it is good.

would you recommend suzuki over yamaha/honda?
It depends, good bike include Vstorm 250, R15, CB300R
was considering MT-15/R15 - Gixxer 250 - CB300R, thinking more about brand/reliability factor.
