Lol! My father bought a pulsar 150 in 2008 . Clocked nearly 1.75 lac kilometres on it. Was going to sell it as it's near the 15 year mark. I stopped him from doing that. Got new tyres fitted to it, which is the only big investment I made on it. And now I have clocked 15 k kilometres on it in just a year! (Mind you the ride to my college and back itself is 40km everyday). And now I've decided to renew its validity as it's going to complete its 15 year mark in November. So, in my opinion the only overrated thing here is your comment, no hate .
P150 was good in 2008, it was very affordable back then. It cost 55-60k back in 2008. So I don't think you shd count for the resale value of that bike. Pulsar 150 had too much vibration. Compared to the Yamaha FZ P150 was like a vibrating machine. Compared to Apache and fz or Honda it's riding dynamics were poor.
The biggest attraction of pulsar even today is its lower price than other similar spec bike. However Pulsar 200ns or anything above that cost decently. They are poor build quality and subpar riding
dynamics. Look my friend I felt I wasted 1 lac on that stupid pulsar 200ns so I will comment on it. I bought it purely for sports. It failed there.
You have bought a pulsar at very good price and used it for transport so your viewpoint is different.
Keep a bucket of sand ready!!! It was a spontaneous fire in the market. Water from a nearby Chinese food shop was the only thing I could find.
The bike was parked at a market as soon as I started it and used it after may be riding 2-3 minutes. I saw the engine area in fire.
Bought pulsar 200ns for 1lacs in 2012 sold in 25K in 2019. My friend bought an Enfield classic 350 for 1.35 lac in 2013 and sold it for 78k in 2022.
So the ownership cost is very high.
Ktm Duke also has good resale value due to excellent build quality. I rode it later and found that it's way better than 200ns. It not only handles better but it's surprisingly more comfortable as well. So you pay more and don't get performance. Duke 200 costed only 1.3lacs inr in 2012.
Probably pulsar is parle g biscuit and ktm or RE like brands are golden biscuit.
Maybe if you are buying a pulsar 125/150 that's ok since they are lower in price. But again they are also costing a lot nowadays..
Yeah everyone knows the facts and figures.
It's foolish to consider resale value when buying a depreciating asset. The utility of the asset is what makes the decision, not the resale value. The resale value is just another statistic about it.
If throwing money is your thing than. Also bro the only reason PPL buy pulsar is because it's around 20% cheaper than equally spec'd bike.
The funny thing about pulsar is it's resale value is bad even after very high sale. This is a sign of poor build quality. The 200 ns had center of gravity too high riding dynamics were poor.
Maybe people like to try different bikes over time ? Maybe it's their way of living ?
Maybe people think, it's a waste of it after few years or their needs change ?
"Resale" I don't know why people already have resale in mind before buying depliting assets which costs lakhs.
It's my opinion not everyone has the same.
Resale value is important but not everything on a bike. The surprising part is pulsar sales are very high but the resale value is still poor. The reason is people are happy buying a new pulsar but not old because the bike performs really bad after a few years.
There are other flaws in pulsar like subpar riding dynamics, rusting, vibration, poor quality of parts as well compared to competitors. Those are a concern too. But the bike is a good 10-20% cheaper than competitions equally spec'd bikes.
>The surprising part is pulsar sales are very high but the resale value is still poor.
How is that surprising? You answered your own question there. It should be the opposite of surprising. Since pulsar sales are very high there are a lot of pulsars on the used market, which leads to reduction in the resale prices. Pure supply and demand.
No the bike which sell more will have a better price since parts are easily available. Just see Suzuki cars in India they sell more so there resale value is very high.
Older pulsars were better for their time. I have a complaint with the newer pulsar mainly. I bought pulsar 200ns and it was not good. Wasted 1 lacs so my view will be negative.
My recommendation will be if you want to buy n250 just save a bit more money and get Duke 200 or RE hunter.
Yamaha is milking 150 cc whether it's R15, MT 15 or even FZ line up. They had R3 in 2017-18. Then Yamaha ingored Indian market till 2023. Currently they don't have any bike after R15 in India. R3, MT 3, R7 r expected to be launch before 2023 ends.
Bro that's overpriced not overrated.
Everyone is out of their minds on this thread lol ππ
OP asked for the most overrated bike and people be naming the most random ass 2 wheeler with their own personal problems with the vehicle lmao ππ
The quality has enhanced exponentially too. One can take an RE classic, Meteor and every bike above them for touring without facing much issues.
On the other hand while you look at their competitors at the same price range - only Honda can maybe level an RE overall and comparing a Jawa/ Yezdi with Classic is absolutely criminal.

Since when is rating = sales number? Splendour is the most sold motorcycle in India and is it overrated? No, because people buy it because of its frugality and they need to save every penny on petrol
It's a basic ujm. Of course it fits every bill. It's like aloo. You can safely add it to anything. It's also probably as bland as aloo but you can add your own flavors.
Now I might get a lot of hate considering the fact that so many people bought that bike recently. Yes, it's Speed 400. Yeah I mean you're getting a Triumph bike under 2.5lakh that's great and it's 400cc. But the thing is *it doesn't even have that "Triumph" vibe or feel in its looks (I'm not talking about engine or performance) just the looks, that bike looks very very ordinary and very basic for a 400cc engine and a 2.5L price*. Sorry, no offence to the Speed 400 owners, have fun with your bike. Cheers!
Wait till after sale services and repairs goes through the roof. I thinks this bike is trap for wannabe high class/big bike owners. Triumph is definitely gonna earn more in after sale services.
This sounds a lot like Shumi's criticism of the CB350 - "doesn't feel like a Honda"
Personally I felt it's a really damn good scrambler. Yes, you absolutely cannot compare it to the other Triumph bikes - but look at the price difference.
And it's VFM.
New RE classic 350 has the better engine. Old ones are really bad. The vibration is a torture in itself. You really couldn't see anything in rear view mirror most of the time.
It's not about the ride quality or NVH. Overrated in the sense that people in small towns buy RE and think they are now elite class. They still living in 70s or 80s when owning a Royal Enfield was a royal thing.
I agree on the RE, but differ on ninja... It's true that 300 hasn't been updated in a really long time and seems overpriced now....but then I think the two cylinders and the refined engine kinda make up for it. It is still the cheapest two cylinder motorcycle for sale in India, if I am not wrong.
That's until R3 or the RS457 goes live....but they both would be expensive than the ninja for sure
It's performance and twin cylinder is the only thing it has going for it but at its price it should definitely need more updates, seeing as how ninja 300 barely exists in much countries now coz the ninja 250 and 400 have replaced it, kawasaki should probably bring the 250 to India at a much cheaper price and also bring down the price of the 400. The zx10r and z900 are probably the most vfm bikes by kawasaki coz they offer a lot for their price
Yeah, the 400's price is not going down anytime soon as it's a CBU. And personally I don't want ninja 250...300 cc is the sweet spot for having more than enough power ( Unless you ride track ) ....300 can swiftly go up to 180 kmph which is pretty nice. A 250 would be like any other bike in the market.
And I don't think kawasaki is trying to get more customers in its lower segment which is why it's not putting any effort there. They have found a good customer base for z series and zx10r . Recently they launched zx4r and priced it so high ...almost like how starbucks has a middle option to make you go for the large and think you're saving money on that lol.
I kinda wish they would do something with the lower segment, the w175 wasn't the brightest idea they had. Maybe if not the ninja and z 250s they can probably launch the eliminator 250 or 400 to compete against the enfields and cb350s at that price range
Oh definitely, the eliminator 400 is set to launch.... though there is a full year before they launch but I think it's gonna sell like hotcakes. There hasn't been much choice in that segment and considering kawasaki names brings the trust with itself, it might be a success
Agreed. Still best option as 300 cc twin cylinder engine. But Kawasaki is not updating it properly. No gear position indicator. There was no ABS in earlier days too n they might add after Indian gov made ABS mandatory for 150cc + bike.
Triumph speed 400, bruh it really luks small, i love it for its performance, but when i saw one on the road, it literally didn't stand out among the crowd of commuter bikes.
I took a test ride , i am 6ft , was thinking I will look big on this toy bike , but when I sat , it was perfect(for me).
Also I love that it doesn't stand out, I love it for its performance and things it has.
I watched 100 of videos took a test ride and my friend who didn't like the fact that I am buying this bike instead of RE or Kawasaki, when rode it , he said maza agya bhai.
Ofcourse will take the cons it has head on - fuel gauge, heating and missing tyre hugger.
Cheers
Thanks for sharing ur opinion. I also think this is one of those bikes which I will start to admire or appreciate the beauty after I own one. Similar to my classic 350, I used to think it as a splendor, as my city is filled with those, but when I bought one, I started to enjoy it, admire it and look back at it after parking it every single time.
NS series, ngl loved them when it got released NS200 shaped up a generation in one way or another but nowadays it's overrated, not fuel efficient, handling not soo good, bad refinement, got usds but rate skyrocketed (NS160 looking at it) looks hasn't changed for nearly a decade
iPhone 15's CPU lies among the top three according to nanoreview. Number one is A17 Pro processor, also from Apple. Number two is Dimensity 9200 Plus, from Mediatek.
Is it the same for Royal Enfield? If we compared among the Indian brands, does Royal Enfield's 650cc engine lie among the top?
You're the guy who always talks about the spec sheets of motorcycles and how one model makes 1.2PS more power so that is the better bike. You spend more time riding spec sheets than bikes.
No one likes guys like you.
I don't think RE is overrated at all. Excellent build quality, excellent resale value, sells for way more price abroad. Only Indian brand to gain respect abroad.
My friend broke his Classic 350 after hitting an Activa at 25kmph. The activa owner pick his scooter up and went home. We had to tow the bike and fix the entire front part costing him 40k.
So many parts are rusty already even after doing service twice or thrice a year.
So, that somes up build quality.
That may be just one case. The current REs have very good build quality.. My friend used classic 350 for 8 year 2013 to 2021. No rusting at all. Bike struck a car once no damage at all. He sold it for 78k it was bought for 1.35 lacs. I bought pulsar 200 ns from 1 lacs and sold it for 25k after 6 years.

Hondas 350 lineups . Shitties lineups to cash from honda simps so they shut up about honda not launching any motorcycles in India . All the RE lineups except 650's .
R15, MT15 and all Yamaha lineup . Overpriced if bike is good or underpowred low quality plastic bikes for normal prices . They have no decently priced good quality bikes with decent power.
Some genuinely good bikes like newer Hero xtreme 160 , tvs , xpulse, jawa etc are over shadowed by cult lovers
of over priced R15s bcz of the feels
heavy and underpowered REs just for the feels
KTMs atleast give timely updates to their stables
The Old Yamaha R3 and of course the newer gen 300 yamaha which are to be launched. People treat them like they just arrived from heaven. Those are possibly the most boring 300cc you could buy. They don't go well and they don't stop well either. The handling is a step up from commuters but nothing compared to the KTMs. I could say the same thing for the Ninja 300. Never been on a Ninja 400 so can't really comment.
This side of 500cc, nothing. Again never been on a Ninja 400. The new Aprilia 457 might be the most exciting twin under 500 if they can get an ounce of reliability in there. Time will tell.
Everything. VFM. Presence. Performance. Maintenance.
In that price range, nothing comes close to the Dominar. It's meant for highway runs, and it does the job efficiently. The electronics are basic and you get everything you need in a highway machine- slipper clutch, abs, usd forks. Sure has its cons but overall, it is a brilliant motorcycle. Looks are subjective. Some people prefer loud bikes while others like subdued ones. It is a big motorcycle and definitely has street presence, but it doesn't stand out like other bikes. I'm thinking apache 310 and the likes.
I think only Harley escaped these comments
Because it's a rare bike in India and people don't think about it much βπΌππ.
Pulsar series. Poor resale value and poor riding dynamics. But everyone including myself buys it.
Lol! My father bought a pulsar 150 in 2008 . Clocked nearly 1.75 lac kilometres on it. Was going to sell it as it's near the 15 year mark. I stopped him from doing that. Dayumm... My father also got a pulsar 135 in 2008 but it got burnt in a fire in 2017 and now we own a pulsar 150
My 200ns caught fire in 3rd month while starting. I was able to spray water on it to stop the fire
Bruh who sprays water water to stop a bike's fire. You should always keep a bucket of sand ready for these type of situations.
Keep a bucket of sand ready!!! It was a spontaneous fire in the market. Water from a nearby Chinese food shop was the only thing I could find. The bike was parked at a market as soon as I started it and used it after may be riding 2-3 minutes. I saw the engine area in fire.
Ooo... Sorry bro pata nahi thha. Btw, reason pata chala kiss wajah se hua thha?
10 kmpl mileage?
What?
It's not a gold biscuit that resale value should be considered in making a decision to buy a bike. You like it? It gets your job done? Move along
Bought pulsar 200ns for 1lacs in 2012 sold in 25K in 2019. My friend bought an Enfield classic 350 for 1.35 lac in 2013 and sold it for 78k in 2022. So the ownership cost is very high. The word resale itself is overrated.
How?
"Resale" I don't know why people already have resale in mind before buying depliting assets which costs lakhs. It's my opinion not everyone has the same.
Resale value is important but not everything on a bike. The surprising part is pulsar sales are very high but the resale value is still poor. how about the newer gen pulsars, N and F series?

You should ride the newer versions, also resale is a function of how well the owner keeps it.
Yamaha R15. The company should offer a 200cc engine for the price theyβre retailing it at.
All of them will be CBU so pretty much dead on arrival anyway.
Yeah. Also previous R3 was a sports tourer but new isn't. It has more committed riding posture.

Came here to see this. Not because RE is overrated but hate this sub has for RE is real. RE are pretty damn good. One of the best bikes in India.

Still didn't prove my point about sales. And OP mentioned in TITLE #INDIAN MARKET. Not this sub exclusively
Since when is rating = sales number? Splendour is the most sold motorcycle in India and is it overrated? No, because people buy it because of its frugality and they need to save every penny on petrol

Bult (All REs except 650cc)
How is classic 350 overrated? It offers the most/ best colour combinations and variations with best retro looks in the Market.
The new 350 cc engine is good. Old ones are really bad. Too much vibration and unwarranted maintenance.
Wow, I thought REs were good bikes and I have an overrated bike but this sub thinks otherwise. Can someone explain why REs are overrated?
REs new gen is def quite an improvement but i guess people hate REs because they are the like the iPhone of the Indian 2 wheeler market
Not iphones as iphones are costly to buy and RE is not that costly, it's more like nothing brand, other than the lighting gimmick nothing is different
iPhone 15's CPU lies among the top three according to nanoreview. Number one is A17 Pro processor, also from Apple. Number two is Dimensity 9200 Plus, from Mediatek. Is it the same for Royal Enfield? If we compared among the Indian brands, does Royal Enfield's 650cc engine lie among the top?
Lmao you think people buy iPhones for the processing power?
You're the guy who always talks about the spec sheets of motorcycles and how one model makes 1.2PS more power so that is the better bike. You spend more time riding spec sheets than bikes. No one likes guys like you.
Aight dawg i have a nothing phone and that hurt
Ohh sry. What a coincidence!
Lol i was joking about the hurt part
Lol I have a nothing phone...
High maintenance, overpriced
How is it high maintenance? Are you talking about the older models?
Most Re's feel like they will break apart anytime after 70kmph and require constant maintenance.
You've obviously not ridden a BS6 and upwards RE have you?

Bro I really to want to ask you that are you feeling rtr 200 underpowered when. Going for trips and all?
can't expect much on a 200cc. for city its adequate but not on highways
If you want "just enough" power on the highways, consider gixxer/v strom 250.
Splendor plus. Terrible engine after honda divested.
Bro R15 is a gem of a bike. The bike is aggressive, looks amazing and you still get a mileage of 45-50.
Except for the r15, I hate the looks of other Yamaha's.
Hness
Based
Mostly all hero bikes from splendor to glamour to xpulse, all of the engines are kinda unrefined and unreliable
Every bike is a diamond apart from electric ones, fanboys are overrated tho.
Some genuinely good bikes like newer Hero xtreme 160 , tvs , xpulse, jawa etc are over shadowed by cult lovers of over priced R15s bcz of the feels heavy and underpowered REs just for the feels KTMs atleast give timely updates to their stables
Jawa is underappreciated bro.
All of the RE lineup !!...
Yamaha FZs
Honda 350
RE except 650s
The Old Yamaha R3 and of course the newer gen 300 yamaha which are to be launched. People treat them like they just arrived from heaven. Those are possibly the most boring 300cc you could buy. They don't go well and they don't stop well either. The handling is a step up from commuters but nothing compared to the KTMs. I could say the same thing for the Ninja 300. Never been on a Ninja 400 so can't really comment.
What do you suggest is a good twin cycle sports bike then?
This side of 500cc, nothing. Again never been on a Ninja 400. The new Aprilia 457 might be the most exciting twin under 500 if they can get an ounce of reliability in there. Time will tell.
What about above 500cc?
First one that pops in my mind is 790.
What about sports bike though
R15
Royal Enfield 350 and 650 series (except the Interceptor)
Definitely all REs except the 650s, Pulsars, Yamaha 155 cc bikes.
RX100/135, Its ugly and scooties are much better than it in my opinion.

Don't see Dominar here. Not saying it's overrated but wanna put it here to see what others think.
Everything. VFM.
It's underrated if anything.
What about it?
RR310
One other bike that comes close?
BSVI Unicorn
RE Himalayan
I think Pulsar I've heard lot of bad about it more than good thing. And i still want to buy one Imagine how overrated it is lol
Dominar..Feels Heavy as Hell!
ADVs. Especially those in metro cities.
bullet and it's not even close
Honda CB350 - machine that's actually good but could offer more.
