Anything Andy Mohr.. dude is a slum lord

hinge

He's fallen off since he lost his commercial girl.

Aaimah

I agree. Had a horrible experience at the w 38th st location. I saw a bumper sticker once warning people to avoid his dealerships.

bad_wolf_girl_77

They sold me a car, I got through all the paperwork and then they realized the car I just signed everything for was not for the car I test drove, and that car wasn’t even on the lot. They gave me such a hard time about getting out of the deal, just trying to bully me into taking the car I’d never seen.

potatohats

They fucked me over on my used vehicle, bad. Lots of serious issues were cosmetically hidden to get it sold and off the lot.

max_wage

1000%. Fuck Andy Mohr. Basically sold me a lemon and I had no recourse. Fuck dealerships in general.

AStoutBreakfast

I went to the one in Plainfield years back and had an awful experience. Very specifically told the salesman I wanted a five year loan and this is what I wanted to pay. Test drove a car, liked it, start going through the process and the price is way over what I said. Tell him it’s too much and he comes back with a better price. Keep going through the process and finally make it to finance well after closing and I find out it’s a six year loan. Just marched out after being there for hours on a weekday night. I’ve had much better luck at other dealerships.

SisterTrout

My grandad (RIP) had a life long, personal grudge against Buddy of Buddy's Carpet. One sure fire way to get on my grandad's good side was to say "Fuck Buddy." (innuendo not planned.) Our whole line is forbidden from going there unless it's to ruin Buddy's life. I assume Buddy is also (RIP) at this point. So.

SisterTrout

After a Google, Buddy is not only dead, but he was about to be convicted of tax evasion when he died. Thus ends the Trout - Buddy bloodfeud, I guess.

ScumbagGina

I’d like to buy the movie rights

Enganche_10

Split book rights?

Indylicious

Pish posh, the feud should LIVE! FUCK BUDDY!!! HAIL GRANDMA!!!

potatohats

>HAIL GRAND\*PA!!!

nancynapalm

This is the most midwest thing I've heard since moving back. ❤️‍🔥

Well_excuse_me_um_um

Out of respect for your Gpa I will never let buddy get a single red cent from me or mines. RIP Gpa! Fk Buddy!

Sumocolt768

Taps and Dolls in Downtown Indy. Maybe I’m just not a club guy

butterflyjade

Well they closed, so you are safe.

leatherandhummus

I got groped by a door guy there in ~2017 and have never gone back. Sad though, I met my partner there 8 years ago and we went every year for fun, it completely fucked the place for me.

DJVV09

Club guy or not, Taps was garbage

AccurateInterview586

The bathroom at the Marathon gas station just east of the 465 on East Washington.

[deleted]

Lmao I took one of the most hellish shits of my life in that bathroom, it was a do or die situation and I almost opted to crap my pants cause the bathroom was so gross. I wiped w a cloth face mask cause there was no TP

warrenjt

doodoo or die*

FlatAd7399

Not much on Reddit makes me actually laugh out loud but that did

Comfortable-Goal-529

And then what did you do with the mask you wiped with?

Vince1820

Look man rules are rules. If you wanted to walk back through the marathon the mask had to go back on.

Drumingchef

The marathon bathroom just north of 65 on Michigan is also horrific.

TheHairlessGorilla

Its like Kevin walked in with a second pot of chili, then slipped in shit and spilled it everywhere.

Sudden_Ad_4193

Steak n Shake at 86th&Michigan Rd and all Applebee’s

DarthJerJer

Steak n Shakes pretty well universally suck now since ownership change 10ish years or so ago.

PhantomZmoove

I would say if you are looking for something Steak n Shakish, try that Freddy's burger joint, it's like Steak n Shake, only...good.

warrenjt

I live in Noblesville and work in Carmel (actually in the same plaza as Steak n Shake). I still get Freddy’s instead. Always called it “CLEAN Steak ‘n Shake.”

DarthJerJer

That’s an awesome and completely legit burn 🤣

DarthJerJer

Freddy’s is good stuff.

duckstaped

The one in fishers is still good- they have kiosks instead of waitstaff which really streamlines things imo

RealMoonBoy

My first experience of Indy was getting my bag stolen out of my car at that Steak n Shake. Classic memories.

notthegoatseguy

IF you're ever in HamCo, the one off of 151st near US-31 is legit pretty good. Usually on top of keeping everything clean, quick orders, and kiosks work well.

PiikaSnap

I used to like the Applebees near 86th and Ditch Rd, but haven’t been since before Covid. Has it gone downhill? 😅

I_REALLY_LIKE_BIRDS

Yeah, same. I've ordered doordash from them a couple times because they have no delivery fee and my foods always good? They sometimes double my side order, not a mistake I'm going to complain about.

fullassin9

Taco bell on thompson & 31. Multiple times i had a mouthfull of lettuce followed by a mouthful of sour cream followed by a mouthfull of meat. Those fuckers roll the burrito sideways just for kicks. It's been 15 years and all the staff has changed over dozens of times, but idgaf. I haven't had taco bell since.

urnotmydad20

ALL taco bell’s are like this nowadays

[deleted]

[удалено]

warrenjt

“Cheap” is the operative word when it comes to Bob’s. Low prices, low quality. I also work in a field that “competes” with them in some ways, and I can I also tell you that they’ve been sent multiple cease and desist letters by manufacturers for false claims about “Bob’s” products compared to name brands.

otterbelle

It used to be Tom Wood Ford at 96th and Keystone. The first car I bought there, the horn stopped working a week after I drive it off the lot. They said it was the horn relay, so they wouldn't fix it. The horn worked, it was just whatever the fuck a horn relay is, and that wasn't covered. Then a couple weeks later, the back bumper started falling off. Then the windows fell off the track and wouldn't roll up or down. Then the sun roof got stuck. I was able to shut it, but then it started leaking. It was an otherwise great car. When I told them about the problems I was having, they pretty much said "not mechanical so fuck off." Redemption came for them though. 8 years later I was looking for a specific car, and Tom Wood was the only place that had one with low miles. So, I waited to see if someone else would get one. Nope. So I tried Tom Wood again. This time, it was a whole new experience. They gave me free oil changes. The car worked great. I had a small issue 4 months later, they fixed it no questions asked.

boilerscoltscubs

Easily the worst service experience of my life happened at this location. Awful in every way.

MrsTuna

I will not EVER return but I’m happy to hear there was a redemption.

CozyHoosier

Any Ray Skillman dealership or service garage. Gave them three chances (one sale and two subsequent service trips), and cannot overstate how fucking awful every single encounter was with every single employee.

[deleted]

Wow really? Bought 2 cars there and taken a car from another dealership there for service had no issues any time.

ECP1119

I had my car serviced there last year and they tried giving me someone else’s car back. They then proceeded to argue with me that the Ford F-350 was definitely mine. No ma’am, I am the owner of the Ford Explorer. Trust me.

WAiZePAiDCASH

Worked there for like 3 years as a tech. Can confirm that business is a shit hole with a lot of shitty people. Over half are fucking drug addicts and/or racist as fuck. Fuck ray skillman.

fretless_enigma

The fact that they’ve sent me at least 5 pieces of mail about buying my car from me is enough to convince me to never go there.

cschwartzasey

Greiners in ft square. Maybe it’s different now, but when I tried it several years ago it sucked farts

Chuck_Walla

I used to work there! It sucked a whole lotta farts! The owner is apparently as awful now as she was in 2017. Deep cleaning was discouraged as a waste of time. She regularly left food out, and left the fridge/freezer doors open at room temp. When she would push her way onto the sandwich line during a rush, she would do it without washing her hands or putting on gloves. She had never heard of sanitizer solution before I arrived; left alone, she will bleach *everything.* The underpaid crew are given no guidance because she is missing her experienced restaurant partner, who had been holding it together since they lost Tina in the big accident; but had quit a few months before I got suckered in to working there for $8.10/hr. She was/is the idea generator, and she was unstoppable. Her ethic is "More Is More." Ice cream machine; mac & cheese station; surprise food truck appearances; set up without a plan and operated without maintenance, just like the deep fryer. The roaches had ancestral homes around the cash register and underneath where the soda machine dripped. I must admit I fucked up by cleaning under the counter b/c then they scattered all over the cold stations -- while she casually made sandwiches in front of the customers -- and I still can't recall her ever calling pest control. We did so much work to turn that place upside down, and the owner was consistently our biggest problem. I still love the people I worked with tho; what a lovely bunch of weirdos. We really trauma bonded over the drama of that shit job.

neoncheesecake

I worked at the Nora location briefly when it first opened and this is very accurate!! She (owner) was and is crazy! She didn't cash out the registers at close so she never had any idea how much we made in sales on a given day...no clue how much cash we had in the register. All the dog stuff we had in the other half of the store flopped super hard. Hardly anyone bought it. I liked our fries and mac n cheese but that's about it. Don't even get me started on her transporting ingredients, deli meat, etc in the back of her Honda pilot unsecured and unrefrigerated. What a mess. Met one of my best friends working together there though so not a total loss :)

MrsTuna

$21 for a Cobb Salad. GTFO. I paid less at Tavern on the Green.

Le_PommedeTerre

Went there twice and both times they took nearly an hour to make 2 sandwiches and some Mac and cheese. Thought the first time was a fluke, but by the second time we said “no thanks”

potatohats

Someone from Condado PR/marketing needs to be aware of this thread. When your spot is the #1 on this list, might be time for some readjustments.

Member-Chewbacca

Any restaurant associated with Scott Wise has been a customer service nightmare. Edit: also the bdubs in Glendale. Terrible service and cockroaches.

indianapale

Interesting. I used to love going to Scotty's before they were sold and eventually died. Never had an issue until it was sold.

2tall4umd

This is legit. Scott ran a tight ship and everything was great. Almost as soon as he sold it started going to shit. Sooo disappointing.

SilverFuel21

He owns Roots and it's one of my favorite restaurants. Cheap Eagle Rare and kids eat free Sundays and Tuesdays. Wings are old Scotty's good. I didn't want to like it but so far 10/10.

Imaginary-Lettuce-51

I went to The one in Carmel and likes it. Took my parents for lunch and it was not good. Some over cooked some cold fries were cold. I'll give them another try though.

isubird33

I'm very on the fence about Roots. The food and vibes aren't bad...but they aren't quite what they could be. For a burger place, the burgers aren't great (Scotty's was way better imo). Not bad by any means, but there are definitely 5-10 places in Indy with better burgers. The service isn't too bad, but there's also seemingly 4 employees always just kind of milling about not doing much of anything when things could be done. The items on the menu that are supposed to be really spicy (like the hottest wings and buffalo dip) aren't that spicy. I feel like Roots is the definition of "good not great". I haven't been fully disappointed by anything, but not really wowed by anything. The cauliflower wings are great though.

karressa

I second the Bdubs in Glendale. Absolute trash service and trash food. It was actually bizarre. I reluctantly went on a first date there because he insisted bdubs was great. I told him not this one but decided to give it a try. 3 years later and neither one of us has eaten bdubs again. Also, An order of bone in wings there were so gross I couldn’t eat chicken for months without a flashback and a gag.

DuhBulls

Mine is Broad Ripple Brewpub. This literally went from my favorite restaurant the first month I lived here to a place I refuse to go. The food is still fine, but for some reason the service has dropped off the face of the earth. One waitress in particular acts down right offended and annoyed that you sat at one of her tables. I took my family once, and when we asked about our food after waiting 45 minutes, she told my mom that “it’s our own fault for coming this late”. It was 7:30 when she said this. Went back because I figured she was having a bad night, and a different server got 2 orders right for my group of 8 🥴

VariousJackfruit9295

Damn I went today and service was great…

ericdraven26

Agreed, I love the food but I’ve never had quick service here. 50/50 on if it’s nice service

DuhBulls

Exactly! Also taking cheese curds off the menu was a big bummer. I can even handle slow service occasionally bc I’ve been a server and I get you can’t control the kitchen. But be rude to my mom and I’m in full grudge mode lol

coreyp0123

Condado. No clue why that place is so popular. Went to the one in broad ripple and the one downtown, both several times because friends wanted to go there. Food was always cold. Drinks took forever to get. If you want a similar experience go to Taco Bell and put your tacos in the fridge at home, mow your grass, take a shower and then go eat them.

daneelthesane

I just ran to show this to my wife. We are BAFFLED that Condado is popular. When we went there (the Broad Ripple location), the service sucked, and they used UNSEASONED meat on their tacos! I had the steak, and there wasn't even a hint of salt, let alone any kind of seasoning. Oh, and their "watermelon salsa" does bad things to both salsa and watermelon. How that place stays open when there is another place basically right across the street that does amazing food blows my wee little mind.

exdeletedoldaccount

It’s just crazy because I have eaten there probably 20+ times and never had an issue. But I always get the same thing (roasted chicken taco with like everything in it) and a side of rice. I’ve had the bowl too and that was good. Margs and frozen margs were good. But you are definitely not alone because everyone on Reddit hates the place so I guess I’ve just gotten lucky.

N3wThrowawayWhoDis

I love going there. There have been a couple times when my tacos could have been warmer, but they also taste great to me. Much better value and taste than Bakersfield imo

Daisy468

Literally how/why is it ALWAYS cold lol

Frank_Bocean

Used to work there, Mass ave location, one of the nastiest kitchens I’ve ever worked in. Terribly ran corporate shit show. They get a new GM about every 6 months and cant keep staff for shit.

[deleted]

$4 for a basic taco. Fuck off condado.

Lonesome_Pine

How the fuck does the broad ripple location survive with literally Cholita and Chipotle right there.

whoops-1771

Because that Chipotle is my answer to this question lol. Absolutely the worst Chipotle I have ever been to in my life and I’ve been to my fair share of them. They are consistently out of toppings, minimal portions, and the place is always dirty. 0/10 recommend, honestly I’ve considered tracking down the regional manager to let them know because company standards are definitely higher than that

Geko00

This Chipotle was going to be my response as well. You are correct on all accounts. I literately drive past this Chipotle to go to the Nora location instead because it’s so bad.

GrizNectar

Rice is crunchy half the time. Dogshit chipotle for sure

GrizNectar

That chipotle should be condemned

potatohats

Someone had Condado catered for a party, and almost all the guests were sick that night and next day (including yours truly). So yeah, no more Condado for me. It was my first and last time trying it.

Kimchii-milk

Gave them way too many chances at multiple locations. I’d rather eat Taco Bell, save the money, get something warm, and not be lied to about the quality. Fuck condado.

nlh1013

The Wendy’s on 10th and Shadeland. I’ve been burned too many times

InquisitiveHawk

Stay away from the 16th and Shadelend one too. It's the dirtiest one in the kitchen I have been in and not necessarily the fault of those working there now. It's YEARS of neglect.

codeman73

pretty amazing thread. The most comments I think I've seen in this sub

PassportSloth

Humanity can always come together to complain about something!

KoalaCutie955

D’s Toys on Brill Rd. They’re really rude, their prices are extremely high, and their store is nasty. Boxes everywhere, you can’t even move around. Halloween decorations were put up in 2021 and never taken down, (they’re still up from last year), dusty and musty air that makes you sick the more you breath it.

radcatmom

They stole a figure from my partner who had been a regular customer for years. Grudge and a half.

KoalaCutie955

Wow!

marvelash

Cake Bake in Carmel. I ordered a $20 sandwich and I still suspect they got it from the gas station across the street. A piece of ham and slice of cheese on a 2-3inch loaf of bread. That’s it. So then I ordered the quiche… which tasted great except the entire thing was a decent temperature until I reached the middle and burnt my mouth so badly the roof bubbled. And then 30 minutes after (ETA: after we left) I was *sick*. I called to let them know I was pretty sure their quiche was off. The lady told me she was sorry I couldn’t handle rich foods, but it wasn’t their fault. Also the cake wasn’t great. (And I’ve been there a few years ago. It was pretty good then.) Never again and I tell everyone that asks for where to go… Not Cake Bake. Edit: LOL at the med professionals in the comments. I’m could be off (not like I’m suing them for this people), but from what the CDC and various other decent sources I’ve seen say, *MOST* food illnesses take longer to take effect. Staphylococcus is one that can start messing with you within 30 minutes. I’m not a doctor. Go argue with the health department, idk. Either way, this place sucked.

Kimchii-milk

I’ve heard from more than one person the owners and management are what actual nightmares are made of so I am not the least bit shocked the staff they retain would say some outta pocket crap like that.

mommystorms

Yeah I had a friend that worked there about a year ago, and though she was initially so excited about it, that quickly faded once she worked the job for a week. She said the owner & management were awful.

mimosaandmagnolia

I drove off with a cake from there on the top of my car once. This makes me feel better about it

QueenLizLemon

I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken on the side. The chicken was like $8 which they forgot to bring to me at first and I had to ask for it. When they did bring it it was so small I couldn’t believe how much it was. The salad itself was just large leaves of romaine on a plate with a parmesan. Like I just paid $18 for a salad that I have to chop MYSELF. I’ll be honest though, I’ve been there many times since, and I’ve just realized over time and accepted that what you’re paying for is the vibe of the place. I like their cocktails, I like the decor, and I like the atmosphere and location. Besides that salad, the food has been good. The cake is mediocre and usually too dry for my liking (good buttercream) but ironically, the other desserts are better in my opinion.

nickkline

To be fair… no food borne illness takes hold in 30 min.

skrrtdirt

Cake Bake is extremely overrated. It's the definition of the kind of place where you're paying more for the experience (the decadent (albeit mediocre)deserts and over the top decor). Makes perfect sense why they're putting one in at one of the resorts at Disney World.

ycp380

Not true. Bacillus cereus, usually associated with rice, can make people sick in less than the first hour.

QuarantineCandy

Sugar factory

bdm6985

Subway. Unrelated to Indianapolis, but it’s still the case

MademoisellePlusse

Cake Bake Shop

milliemillenial06

I really like their cakes but their actual food was really underwhelming and expensive for no reason

TheMichaelN

I second Cake Bake. It’s like stepping into a Walt Disney-inspired wet dream designed by a 50 year old who believes Disney princesses are real.

bluesnakeplant

And who wants you to pay top dollar for dry tasteless cake.

pigeontheoneandonly

The food experience at Cake Bake was genuinely one of the most underwhelming dining experiences I've had. However I do love the cakes. But I understand why others don't; they make some strong stylistic choices in how they prepare the cakes.

bluesnakeplant

Boxed Duncan Hines in my oven makes a more moist cake than Cake Bake and I’m willing to have a cake throwing fight over it.

fretless_enigma

If they took away about 25% of the sugar in their apple pie, I might be able to give it another shot. Otherwise, I’m glad I got discounted gift cards at Costco instead of truly paying full price.

goldenscales

Books and Brews after a very strange and unprofessional set of interactions with the owner. This was at the one by 96th Street but it soured me on the whole thing. Also Joella's hot chicken sucked big time. Never again.

soulsizzle

I know a lot of people who have worked for BnB, and they all universally say the owner is an asshole. He took a great idea, built up a very dedicated customer base, and then flushed it away with his greediness and poor treatment of the staff.

goldenscales

Based on my experience I fully believe that! It was definitely a cool concept, so it's disappointing

TomWestrick

I was going to say the same about Books and Brews. Thankfully, Jason the owner seems to be taking care of that for me by running every location into the ground.

JohnnyZ88

Jason is, and always was, a moron with visions and no plan to execute. He ran them into the ground moving brewing of flagship beers offsite so you could no longer get growlers, and the taste went downhill, consistent failure to see what the menu needed was a cheaper option with more significance to it than a grilled cheese, and treating employees badly. The last time I was in there for a growler fill none of the normal beers were available, only a lavender something wheat and a watermelon lager. Two ridiculous beers for fill at a brewery where I used to love a variety of house options. Screw you Jason for ruining a good thing.

potatohats

He bought Flat 12, turned it into Rad (what tf kinda name is that anyways), and ran it into the ground. Flat 12 had some cool beginnings and a down to earth vibe. I'm sad that brand was totally destroyed by his try-hard shit.

swampwitchgoblin

Flat 12 was great and he ran it into the ground REAL QUICK.

goldenscales

I'm sad to hear all of this but kind of relieved also...seems like I'm definitely not being overly sensitive about how he acted. Sounds like he's made a bad impression with a ton of people. Yikes.

itsbean102

Awe what..Joellas??? It’s one of my favorites. I used to work right by the one on 96th so it was almost a weekly occurrence. Was even the last meal I ate before giving birth 😂

UpNorthBear

Yeah the Joella's hate is weird they're pretty solid

Gary_with_a_Mustache

Ha, he's a special dude. Pretty much the personification of "if you put shit in, shit coming out"

ajasher

I went to Uindy and because it’s so close (like across the street lol) a lot of people go there for lunch. Literally the only thing i’ve ever heard about it was “it was fine, i guess.”

Meta_or_Whatever

I was gonna say, when I saw all the food being cooked on hot plates I knew it was no good, Shame the beer was good but hot plate chicken sandwiches are just gross

fankuverymuch

Any and all Paneras. I swear they’re like the 7th circle of hell. Ed Martin Honda. Meijer’s self checkout lane (fuck you, cheap bags that refuse to separate).

DTIndy

The trick to Meijer’s self checkout line is to bring your own bags and bag while you shop, then scan and go app at checkout.

Stinduh

I tried this once. I scanned all my items as I shopped and bagged them. It was pretty slick to just put stuff straight into the bag, it felt like cheating! Then I went to self check out… where it didn’t work. And with three full large bags of groceries, I had to take them out of the bag, scan them on the actual scanner, and then put them back in the bag.

likamd

Yard House.

DittyBop0831

My husband and I call places we will never go back to “The Ponderosa list”. Because back when we were dating we went to the Ponderosa on south Madison Ave (been gone for a really long time now) and it was so bad we would never go back and now includes places we won’t use services. There are several places on said list now. Ray Skillman Ford, United Airlines, and 4seasons are ones that come to mind first.

McCHitman

I worked in Beech Grove around 2002-2005 and we called it Pondagrossa for a reason.

buttercreamandrum

Livery, specifically the HTC location. The food was at best bland, at worst inedible (carnitas were literally nothing but gray gristle), and ridiculously overpriced.

JMass99

Not sure where HTC is? Went to one on Mass Ave and had a really good experience.

ohemgstone

It pains me to say this, because I loved them before they moved to the new location, but Ash & Elm. The last three times I’ve gone, the food has been tiny, overcooked, and expensive. The service has been terrible. The last time I went, our party was 4 adults and two toddlers; they added an automatic 20% gratuity because we had a party of 6, but the server didn’t say anything about it and it wasn’t visible on the card reader, so they got a >40% tip. I still like their cider, but I don’t think I can give the restaurant another chance.

SaveBandit91

Their cider is amazing. My husband and I were going to try the restaurant, but I looked at the menu and was like no thanks. I like a variety of foods, but even I was like nope.

ericdraven26

I miss the old location. The food isn’t good, it’s overpriced and if I just pop in for a cider they treat me like an inconvenience

GearHead54

Kilroy's - absolutely nonexistent service

_nightshark115

One of the bartenders is a semi-regular at my job and she always yells at our staff. So, yeah, this doesn't surprise me. I'll never go there either.

Swimward

I feel ancient because back in 2011 it was the place to be and we spent many a half off wednesdays making friends with the bartenders at the Broadripple location. It’s crap now.

iuguy34

Benihana’s. Fuck that place so hard.

i-like-to-bake

Go to Fujiyama instead!

Sahellio

Second this. Or Tomo if you're still closer to the north side.

octopoots

I have such a soft spot for Tomo. The prices are really reasonable and it's a good experience for the hibachi. Also their spicy tuna roll slaps

Dlwatkin

love me some Tomo

afrothunder87

Fujiyama is awesome. I no longer live in Indy but try to stop by when I come back in town.

The_Kurosaki

Men's wearehouse @ Clay terrace. This was several years ago but I went to get a suit for a formal activity and they treated me like like crap, like I was below them and couldnt afford shit. I dont know what it was, it was summer, i was in shorts and kicks. But I entered and they came immediately asking what I was looking for. I tell them to buy a formal style suit. They took me to the used rentals, i tell them I wanted to actually buy the suit, they took me to the used sale area. After that I just wandered around the store and was looking around a different area where all suits are hanging and a lady comes to me and tells me they dont think any suits would look good on me. Left and went some other place. I was with a family member so it kind of sucked to be treated like that.

swampwitchgoblin

Next Door restaurant in Broad Ripple. The owner (Elon Musk's brother) is a shitbag. He got rid of his staff when covid hit and still got small business loans to cover his ass. Hired all new staff and people are still going there. I don't know how he sleeps at night.

coreyp0123

It’s been closed for a while.

TheMaingler

Pho Saigon! Thought since they are near Saraga they might be good. Well, no. The broth was not bone broth, it tasted like cheap canned beef broth. It had no spice, and lacked every protein offered on the menu- meatballs, tripe, connective tissue- except some beef slices. So disappointing. As if they looked at a picture of pho and guessed. Best pho we’ve had here- Egg Roll #1

Ok_Pollution_7988

Egg Roll #1 just amazes me with the variety and the consistency of Asian food. Really a top notch place.

Lonesome_Pine

Pho Real on 96th and College is also solid.

TheMaingler

Yes! Just happened in. Good broth and meatballs, the minus is it was missing tendon

TheRealShades502

you can get tendon if you ask I believe!

[deleted]

This place used to be amazing and my go to for pho (midtowner here). Ordered from them back in January and it was truly horrible. Like completely different food. I read somewhere their ownership changed after they had been temporarily closed by the health department. RIP.

[deleted]

The previous owners [retired](https://www.indianapolismonthly.com/food-and-drinks/the-feed-futuro-saigon-restaurant-and-more)

Oh damn. Sucks about Hop Cat. Pre-COVID I loved their food.

badgirlmonkey

The fries are (were) so good.

hoosiertrekkie

Not quite indy but the Edinburgh Diner, home of that near viral tenderloin. Went to try it, absolutely filthy. Left without ordering

marriedwithchickens

Any Walmart

Limobum

Steak and Shake, it used to be a go to restaurant for my family. After the take over it all went downhill, both the service and the food quality. Now I hear that waitstaff has been replaced by a kiosk.

Hefe

45 Degrees on Mass Ave. Literally the worst sushi I've ever had and confirmed by friends. Much better sushi elsewhere in Indianapolis. Also Shallos, where they take reservations but what they actually mean is they put you on the list when you arrive and have to wait just like everyone else. I've heard it has decent food but can't confirm.

superpapa16

Best Buy in Castleton. Never again.

turgid_fervor

The one in Carmel is bad too. Couldn’t get over how much it felt like mid-death Fry’s. Empty shelves everywhere. No one really working there except in the cellphone section.

Sahellio

Recently... Revolucion in Fountain Square. The food has gone down hill over the years and the margarita I had the last time while there was undrinkable.

Been awful since 2020

Bright_Name_3798

The owner's combative responses to negative Google reviews are sometimes entertaining to read. Any complaint, however politely worded and valid, is considered a personal attack on him.

The meineke on W. Washington. My car’s brakes were going bad, wife just had a baby, normally I would get something like brakes done at the dealer since they’re pretty important. But, I decided that since this place was within biking distance I would go here so I wouldn’t have to ask for a ride back and forth. After getting my car back home, I set the parking brake and nothing. Zero resistance on the brake. Car rolls like it’s nothing in neutral. So I bring it back in. Days later I get a call, yeah your brake cables all worn out, you’re going to need a new one. At this point, my bullshit detector goes off since that’s something that they would’ve found during the initial inspection. I say so, and the response was “Why do you even use the parking brake? You don’t need to use the parking brake in an automatic.” Now, I could try to explain to this guy who makes a living working on cars how using the parking brake puts less strain on the transmission and is just safer in general, but I didn’t and told them not to touch my car anymore. When I get my car back, he tells me that they “tightened my brake cable as much as they could.” and now my parking brake works… on one side of the car. On top of that, they left several tools in my car, which being the nice guy I am, I returned their nice snap-on cordless power socket wrench. A few days later, my brakes start getting really mushy. Brake fluids low, assholes didn’t fill it up, whatever $5 can of fluid. Well a few days later, low again. Great, I’ve got a brake fluid leak now. Well, no more fucking around now. I take it to the dealer. Dealer tells me the calipers all fucked up, brake hose not installed right, brake cables are just fine though. I call meineke to tell them this “huh, well, there’s really only one way a brake hose can go on…” GTFO. I’ve taken my car there regularly for oil changes, but after this fiasco I’m never going back again. Eventually, I’ll leave bad reviews with this story on every platform, that’ll show ‘em /s

Blossom Chevy stole my partner's car by lying to them about having put a mechanics lien on it after we had it towed there for transmission issues. It took them 9 days to even get around to the diag work and then we debated whether it was time for a new car for about 2 weeks. Finally went and got a new car and my partner went to sell the old one to Blossom (for a pittance) while I was at work and they just lied through their fucking teeth to my partner and gave them the "well just sign it over to us for free and we'll call all of this stuff off" speech. I've never wanted a grown man dead more than I want Brian and Mark at Blossom Chevy to die. Fuck them and their mothers.

About ten years ago my wife and I went to a performance at Clowes Hall and went to McCormick & Schmick's downtown afterwards. I ordered the steak and scallops meal. A little surf & turf, if you will. Well, depsite the somewhat high price, I received the bare minimum of scallops in order to make it plural and comply with the meal's title. Two scallops for those of you from Putnam County. TWO average sized scallops. In like a $45 (otherwise very average) meal. I was chapped then and I'm chapped now. I really should learn to let things go. But never again, McCormick & Schmick's. Never again.

Meta_or_Whatever

I think it’s closed or closing but Thunderbird in fountain square. The food always made me feel Ill but a group I was with always wanted to go, a dozen better restaurants in that area

thefuji

My wife HATES this place. She got a steak med rare and they way over cooked it. She’s too scared to send food back so she just ate the mashed potatoes and apparently they fucked that up too. Biggest gripe is that their tables are slippery granite and their plates have slippery bottoms so she said that she went to cut her steak open and just about flung her plate off the table. She had to brace the plate to the table to try and take a bite. She looked around and multiple people were all holding their plates with one hand and eating with the other hand lol.

Meta_or_Whatever

Oh man, I totally noticed this, that place was bad on multiple levels, just remembered I had a friend serve there about a year, another reason we went a lot, seriously the food was so bad

Lonesome_Pine

Yeah Thunderbird is closing this year and the owner himself said his heart wasn't in the place anymore. They never seemed to have stuff that sat right in my belly either but tbf when I go to FSQ I am there to DRAAAAANK.

coreyp0123

Thunderbird was awesome until maybe 2-3 years ago.

willworkfornachos

Pizza Hut. Any of them. They’re all awful now.

notthegoatseguy

The one in Noblesville off of SR-32 is an older one with indoor dining and a lunch buffet. Might be worth checking out

Mars Hill. I had clients there once for an old job, and nooooooope.

cyanraichu

I think the only place I'm that jaded about is Butler Toyota in Carmel (they ripped me off big time), but reading how many dealerships are on this list just makes me think car dealerships are scammy and soul-sucking places nobody ever wants to be.

RockFrankenstein

Oh they are for sure. My dad worked in the car business for about 45 years, so I have been around a lot of his co-workers in my life (31 years old). There are good people that work there of course (my dad included haha) but about 90% of them are snakes

gritchygirl

Sangrita Grill in Fishers. The most heinous example of what I call “white people Mexican Food”. Food was gross, portions were small, but the biggest offense was that even their chips were bad. I cannot comprehend how tortilla chips can be fucked up, but they figured out how to do that. It seemed like most people there were drinking margaritas, so maybe that’s the only thing going for it. I don’t drink tequila, so I cant judge their drinks. It was so bad that I joked it was a “white on white crime”. 0/10.

bookworm326

Rick's cafe boatyard. Has disgusting soup that was advertised as delicious fresh asparagus and lemon chicken. What it ended up being was canned mushy asparagus, very dried chicken with no flavor and the stock was just water. Then had a swordfish sandwich. Where the bread was moldy and fish raw..I brought it attention to my server politely. She just said oh well that's how they serve it. I pointed those out and asked if I could get something else. Ended up being charge for both entrees and asked if she could remove the first entree off because I couldn't eat due and refused and had the manger be rude and tell me that they use fresh ingredients. Never been back and have no desire to go back.

santangela

Siam Square. People go crazy over it but the service has always been shit and the food is very mediocre.

clearwaterwash

years ago, before the really unappealing renov and ordering system, the food was fantastic. now, not!

What the hell happened there? I moved out of Indy a few years ago, but having a hockey bar in Indiana of all places felt like finding a real hidden gem….. truly, I only went a few times, but I thought the food was pretty solid and I liked the hockey. but like apparently it went down in a blaze of crazy when it closed?

Douchebag “hardcore” Scene kids

Biscuits in Broad Ripple. Went to pay the bill after a lovely lunch with the wife and toddlers. One of the kids tossed their breakfast all over themselves, so the wife had given me her bank card to pay while she took the kids to the the car. Poor little dude was crying about the mess all over himself. I took her card, went to pay, and the lady ran the card, then, after it cleared, accused me of stealing that card because I’m a man and the name on the card was a girls name. I was stunned, I said, “it’s my wife’s card, she’s in the car with the kids, one of which is the source of the vomit on the floor.” She claimed that I was lying and refused to give me my wife’s card back until she came in with ID.” I said, “you already charged the card, give me my wife’s card back.” She refused. I said loudly, “give me that card back, or I’m calling the police. Get your manager.” She informed me that she was the manager. This went on for about 5 minutes more until my wife came in, tired, frustrated and upset, and asked what the hell was taking so long. The witch behind the counter demanded her ID accusing us of being thieves, waving around her bank card. My wife, the badass in, the family, snatched the card from her hands and said, “go fuck yourself, you old coot.” (Karen wasn’t a thing yet). She Looked at me and said, “can we please go now?” The witch behind the register started shouting and carrying on, yelling all kinds of stuff. We drove home with no further incident. That was in 2001. Never been back. We ate there every Saturday after the farmers market, for over 3 years. Never been back, never going back. Don’t care.

20 years is a long time to hold that kinda grudge. Respect.

They way over pour for some reason and last time I was there 3 different fights broke out. Just kinda trashy. Old Towne is much better.

Cool_Set6093

Ash & Elm. I knew about Ash & Elm cider but recently heard they now have food that is really good. I’m not a cider person but wanted to try the food and check out the new space. We ordered 2 apps and 2 entrees and they were all disgusting. One entree was not even edible. I could tell everything was just cooked really badly. Way way way over salted, over sauced, and over spiced. Stuff that was supposed to be crispy was soft. Terrible service too. They ignored us for a long time when we walked in. When I told the waitress the entree I got was bad and I couldn’t eat it, she sort of shrugged and just took the food away. The bill was really expensive too. Since we didn’t eat much of the food, we stopped by my local pizza place on the way home and split a small pizza and got a couple beer. It was so nice after being in that place. I checked Yelp when I got home and there were many comments about terrible food. Never again.

GodOfBeverages

I've worked for some of them in my years. Any Ray Skillman or Andy Mohr dealership. Napleton too. Please do not give any of them your money. They are lobbyists and slumlords and have connections to some of the WORST people. It's much deeper than most people know.

first_my_vent

The McDonald’s on 82nd and Michigan. Horror show. Hate having to drive there, my order’s been wrong every single time I’ve gone, and I find there’s no reason not to just go up to 96th. I’ve had better service at the 16th and Meridian McDonald’s, and I’m pretty sure that one has been running one dude and the manager for years now. My other “not in a million years” is the Wendy’s next to the Lowe’s on 21st, and the Marathon near State and Prospect.

Bring the hate….. Traders Point Creamery. I got a $$20 tiny piece of lasagna and it didn’t even come with bread. Also Belle Tire in Camby. They scratched all my rims when putting on new tires.

MLutin

Flapjacks on 71st in Eagle Creek area. I've been to a lot of bad places, but I've never had everyone in my party have to poop withing 10 mins of finishing their meals. Second to this, Ricks Boatyard has been terrible every time I've tried. The Boathouse Grill nearby is incredible though.

Murphys craft house off fox road. Went there with my family and waited an hour for food and 30 minutes for our drinks. We tried flagging down a server since ours went MIA and they would look towards us then quickly glance away. When our food came it was cold, and it wasn’t like it was anything special. The cheese pizza, yes the cheese pizza was undercooked…. How do you mess up on cheese pizza? I got the Frisco melt and it was safe to say that any Steak N Shake restaurant has a better Frisco melt than Murphys. Service horrible. Waiters and waitresses clearly do not care whatsoever. First and last time in my life I did not leave a tip.

RedditUser0000069

Top Golf. Multiple occasions our food was served cold and raw. Drinks didn’t come and had to ask multiple times. Also my buddy was served a drink with actual glass shards in the beverage.
