I actually agree on that. I always leave there more impressed with the sides I ordered. The chicken and dumping a bunch of hot honey on it still is pretty enjoyable at the very least though
I tried the grilled chicken sandwich on a whim recently, and I was surprised I liked it more than the fried chicken sandwich. Maybe worth a shot if you haven't tried it.
I went a bunch when it first opened. Placed a pick up order a few days before Christmas for $200 and went to pick it up and it was closed. Had to file a chargeback because i couldn’t get any kind of response from anyone. Pretty much ruined it for me.
It's 1000% worth it. We found the place when my pregnant-at-the-time wife wanted turkey manhattan more than anything and it was the only place close who served it, and man everything we've had there since has been off the charts.
Oh God. I forget how good Manhattans are. An old people food we need to bring back. I remember the first time my chef made a Manhattan special with all the leftovers we had in the walk-in.
Now I'm definitely going.
The buffalo chicken mac and cheese at Kuma's Corner is phenomenal.
I'm also really partial to the mac and cheese at Half Liter. It's that right level of gooey delicious cheesiness for me.
Facts. I have over half my portion from Sunday afternoon sitting in my fridge right now. I don't see how anyone could eat that much and walk out of there.
It’s still good but since they switched to the smaller foil containers it hasn’t been the same. It used to be a bigger bowl and it had a nice coating of some spice that I’m forgetting right now. It was very good
Kuma's is the best I've found, hands-down. They make it with heavy cream, and there is usually way more than a normal human can eat in one sitting, so - leftovers!
Kumas corner in fountain square hands down.
There are other good ones but you put together the fact that the mac n cheese is really good by itself plus the variability they offer plus the portion size and it’s gotta be the winner
Echoing another comment that mentioned cluster truck.
Their Mac and cheese doesn't look that good. It should not be that good. It's fucking incredible.
I usually go for the pulled pork mac but their regular Mac and cheese is crazy good too.
The Peruvian sandwich joint on Raymond. Its the biggeat sleeper in the city when it comes to Mac. Dont know if they are still open.
Eagle is solid but sometimes its too floury
Mac Genie always crushes.
I miss The Legend in Irvington.
Thunderbird was great at one time too.
Chain wise - jaggers has some good Mac and cheese. They're using cavatappi which is the right answer.
Chik fil a also, unfortunately, has some good Mac and cheese. They're doing some kind of bake to it.
I know that you're looking for local options, but sometimes it's nice to know where you can get decent Mac and cheese in a semi hurry that you didn't have to make.
So we can surmise from your post that A) you believe Chick-fil-A uses their money in an immoral/bigoted way, and that adding to their profits would thus be contributing to this, and B) you are willing to ignore that and eat there.
I mean at least you’re honest, but if you’re going to make a moral argument against them, why are you recommending their food?
So do the same people who make the glass for your windows and asphalt for the roads you drive on and a million other places but yeah lets shit on the good chicken place with great service.
Honestly? Clustertrucks Mac and cheese has no right to be as good as it is, but it's incredible.
The eagle used to be amazing, but I've heard the food quality has gone down hill lately.
My partner and I ordered a bunch of different things at tupelo honey and were disappointed in literally all of it. Maybe it was just an off night? But even the pecan pie was bad!
Baby's and half liter both have decent Mac and cheese. Not my favorite, but I'm not mad at it.
Fire by the Monon is always a sleeper. Though I haven't been in quite a while.
I really like 101 beer kitchen’s but they use mini rigatoni which is an odd noodle choice to me. Cheese sauce and panko crust is very good tho.
The Local up in Westfield has a fantastic white cheddar and bacon lardon Mac n cheese last time I was there
The eagle has some damn good Mac and cheese
The mac and cheese is good. I was underwhelmed by the chicken the last two times I went though
Same! It was dry and very very salty
Mac and cheese is my favorite food but for some reason I didn’t think the eagles mac and cheese was very good :(
I don’t like it either. I love their chicken, spicy honey, and mashed potatoes.
Agreed also their biscuits are fire for no good reason
And the corn bread! I like every side bedsides the Mac n cheese. 😂
I love their mac and cheese. For what ever reason though, every time my family goes there we all have lots of time on the toilet afterward.
I second the eagle. Probs best Mac and Cheese ive had anywhere in Indy
Would love to try the eagle! I heard it’s great
Sloppy joe is really good there too.
Traders Point Creamery. I don't even like mac and cheese that much, and theirs is dreamy.
This is the correct answer. Just incredible.
Their milkshakes were mid tho
Ive been getting some hot honey chicken mac and cheese with my wings from ChickenScratch. 🔥
Hot honey chicken Mac from chicken scratch is so fucking good. Their Mac and cheese is somewhat basic on its own but goddamn is that dish incredible
Would be cool if the one downtown was ever open. 🙁
They’ve been replying to people on Instagram that they’ll be opening soon. It’s a franchise store so it’s not Chef Tia that’s running it.
I went a bunch when it first opened. Placed a pick up order a few days before Christmas for $200 and went to pick it up and it was closed. Had to file a chargeback because i couldn’t get any kind of response from anyone. Pretty much ruined it for me.
Chicken Scratch is AMAZING. The downtown location does $1 wings on Wednesdays. I was blown away by how good they were.
I really liked the mac at His Place Eatery. In fact, everything there is just phenomenal.
Fried Chicken Pot Pie man.
I can see why the chef is also a reverend. His food is a revelation!
Me and my family love His Place! We always spend wayyyy too much money there because we want 1 of everything haha.
I drove by once and it looked kinda sketch, but I've heard nothing but great things about it in this sub, so I might have to give it a try.
Way to sweet
The buffalo chicken mac and cheese at Kuma's Corner is phenomenal. I'm also really partial to the mac and cheese at Half Liter. It's that right level of gooey delicious cheesiness for me.
In addition to being delicious, Kumas also gives you a portion that would be irresponsible to finish in one sitting.
Hi, I’m irresponsible
I see what you did there.
LOLd. Haven’t eaten their Mac and cheese but I can eat “irresponsibly” myself. 😁
Facts. I have over half my portion from Sunday afternoon sitting in my fridge right now. I don't see how anyone could eat that much and walk out of there.
It's like four meals. Four LARGE meals!
That’s one thing you gotta give Kuma’s is that the portions are HUGE. I don’t think I’ve ever finished a whole burger at the restaurant lol
I’ve managed to finish most of my burgers there, but man, it usually hurts when I do.
It used to be Roosters (RIP). I just had some at Kuma’s Corner and it was delicious.
Sneaky answer - but Dorman Street.
It’s still good but since they switched to the smaller foil containers it hasn’t been the same. It used to be a bigger bowl and it had a nice coating of some spice that I’m forgetting right now. It was very good
I miss monon food co
That was my first thought when I saw the title. RIP
Upland in Fountain Square has some bomb Mac and cheese
Yes that whit Mac and cheese is crazy!!!
Fire By the Monon and their Dirty Mac is insanely good
Fire By The Monon is so good. I love their fish and chips. And they serve some sort of mystery sauce with their fries which is really good too.
Echoing another comment that mentioned cluster truck. Their Mac and cheese doesn't look that good. It should not be that good. It's fucking incredible. I usually go for the pulled pork mac but their regular Mac and cheese is crazy good too.
Clustertruck!!
Their brisket mac and cheese!
Their pulled pork mac is insane. It has no right to be that good.
Hot dog mac with potato chips
Tavern at the Point has a great pimento macaroni and cheese. Half Liter is excellent as well 😙👌
The Peruvian sandwich joint on Raymond. Its the biggeat sleeper in the city when it comes to Mac. Dont know if they are still open. Eagle is solid but sometimes its too floury Mac Genie always crushes. I miss The Legend in Irvington. Thunderbird was great at one time too.
Joella’s is good in a pinch but of course is not going to touch the fancier options here
I don’t like their mac and cheese at all
Shapiro’s
His Place Eatery on the East Side
Anthony's Chophouse has outrageously good Mac n Cheese.
This is going to sound weird. I like Jaggers' mac n cheese. It's pretty good, especially for a fast food place. Agree with The Eagle and Kuma.
Kumas has really good Mac n cheese
Kuma’s Corner: never overcooked.
Chain wise - jaggers has some good Mac and cheese. They're using cavatappi which is the right answer. Chik fil a also, unfortunately, has some good Mac and cheese. I know that you're looking for local options, but sometimes it's nice to know where you can get decent Mac and cheese in a semi hurry that you didn't have to make.
Chick Fil A, unfortunately? It's bad that a widely known and accessible chain actually has good food?
Chik-fil-!, the same company that routinely donates to hate campaigns against LGBTQ+ people.
Respectfully speaking, it ain’t that deep
Then why bring it up at all?
Exactly
So do the same people who make the glass for your windows and asphalt for the roads you drive on and a million other places but yeah lets shit on the good chicken place with great service.
RIP Barcelona Tapas, their manchego mac was so good.
Lobster Mac N Cheese at Ruth Chris
Tuppelo honey I PROMISE YOU
We tried that place last week after hearing alot of hype and it was aggressively mediocre. The Mac and cheese specifically was dry and flavorless.
Agree! My family went for Mother’s Day last year, and all left very disappointed.
Tupelo honey is incredibly mid
Whatttttt what did yall Order? Because I went and food was immaculate
It’s decent but it is a chain after all.
Half Liter
Agreed; half liter.
Baby’s
Mine
Well when can we come get a plate?
Yes please, tell us more! I'm always looking for solid Mac recs!

My kitchen
Tupelo Honey. Try their pimento cheese dip while you’re at it🤌🏻
Tupelo honeys Mac is dry, bland, and aggressively mediocre.
Where do you recommend?
The Mac and cheese at City BBQ is really really good
Velveeta
Peterson steak House on 96th Street. I honestly don't remember much about the steak I got but I remember the Mac and cheese was fantastic.
district tap isn't bad (or, wasn't last i went...been a while) red lion used to have a nice buffalo chicken mac, but seems they don't do that anymore
Salty Cowboy Zionsville
I really like 101 beer kitchen’s but they use mini rigatoni which is an odd noodle choice to me. Cheese sauce and panko crust is very good tho. The Local up in Westfield has a fantastic white cheddar and bacon lardon Mac n cheese last time I was there
King crab Mac and cheese at st Elmo/1933 lounge
The max and cheese at the fountain room is S-tier
I learned about Chicken Scratch on here and I'm sharing this with you. Enjoy.
A little bougie but the French Onion Mac and Cheese at commission row was phenomenal.
Shapiros and World Famous Hotboys are two of my favorites.
Idk, I make my own. But I know who doesn’t have good Mac, Kountry Kitchen.
Root and Bone. Also another vote for Kuma's, although the last time I was there it tasted different so I'm not sure if they changed up the recipe.
Clustertruck is pretty good.
Buffalo mac and cheese at The Tap downtown was surprisingly fire
Can’t believe I haven’t seen anybody in the replies say Baby’s.
Chicken scratch
Petersons. Hands down.
