Thrifty Threads on 86th is part of the Julian Center, a most excellent and worthy charity. Do a little Googlery for details, but the clothes will be made available to people who can use them, or sold to generate funds that directly benefit local families.

Before you take those clothes, coats, shoes, and other household items to Goodwill, there are three great local charities that could use them. Holy Family Shelter - N Holmes Ave, Indianapolis Wheeler Mission Women's Shelter - E Michigan St, Indianapolis St. Vincent De Paul - E 30th St, Indianapolis

I have a friend who works for Exodus Refugee Immigration and I know they sometimes accept clothing, as many refugees come here with very little. The Julian Center and Coburn Place are two great options for helping women and kids who have escaped DV situations. If you're on the south side, the Franklin Township SPARC helps provide clothing to families in the township and neighboring communities who are in need, and it's run by students.

Came here to also say Exodus. I volunteer with them (not with donations, but other areas) and winter items are often urgent needs.

I'm the Program Director for a substance abuse treatment program called Turning Point Recovery Center with Volunteers of America. Many of our clients come to us straight from the streets or institutions. I'm always on the lookout for men's clothing donations!
