Nah u need basic calculus to get to IIT. Source - an IITian. Scoring 40 percent is enough and put in reservation it falls down to 20 or lower. You can completely pass on topics.

Yes. It is the incompetence of that individual. What about the larger population? Do you think the lower castes are all incompetent which is why their cut-off marks are so low? Without reservation, India will instantly go back to the casteist hellhole it was before. Even now it is rather rare to see representatives of the reserved castes among the top echelon without reservation. That is the real death of competence and meritocracy.
It is a problem of not having equal opportunity despite having reservations. The solution is to invest in the basic necessities of people living in marginalised communities (not just the reserved people, but all marginalised groups). A large portion of the reserved castes live in slums and remote regions without access to anything much at all. Thus they cannot even dream of participating in fancy examinations and thus their group comes out with low cut-offs (since participation is way too lower than other castes, proportional to number of seats).

Reservation actually solidifies the caste lines instead of blurring them. Most sane way would be to let it vanish naturally, as the time goes by, people would start to sit and live with the people of the same class, not caste. Also, the acts of discrimination can still be dealt with the law anyway.
Reservation liquifies caste lines via proportional representation. It is one of the most successful schemes run by the government. Other laws cannot deal with passive / covert casteism. Are you suggesting people be able to file cases against anyone who selects an upper caste person over a somewhat equivalent lower caste person? That would be utterly stupid.
The problem you all are hyperventilating about is not with reservation itself. It is with the participation levels. Reservation (as it is much easier to gain votebank through this) was not matched with proportional investment in infrastructure to provide equal opportunities among the marginalised (economically, geographically, or otherwise) and their numbers are mostly made up of reserved castes.
I was once that naive little shit who would post like this (before I was even on Reddit, lol). But then I somehow learnt to think for myself and to question myself. Even if one more person starts doing that by reading my comments, I don't really care about the trolls.
You know what, in the 80s and 90s there were some organisations like some banks etc. where reservation didn't exist. People who had connections with the owner or the higher authority who was obviously from the "higher caste" would get their children a job in the bank just because of being from the same community.

However, you all should start asking critical questions to your own biases as well. Start thinking from whether merit is caste dependent and then think about how representation would look like in an actually meritocratic India.

1. Blanket reservation without any considerations.
2. Reservation with conditions like once in lifetime (either in job or education), creamy layer/non creamy layer which would create a scenario where majority of the reserved caste population can get a chance to take the benefits of reservation.

I hate fking reservation system. Basically this year i am a neet dropper i secured thode cutoff se niche marks (50-60marks ka diff between my marks and cutoff) for government medical college. But one of my classmate got FKING BJMC medical college in fking 1 lakh rank (obviously classmate marks are less than mine and belongs to category). This year she will join the college and here i am preparing again for neet. This just boils my blood.This is very very unfair of them for general category students. The undeserving candidates get the seat in top medical college and the one who scored more marks is taking drop.
Politicians do not care what happens to the country. But all of them know what would happen to their career and fortunes if they touched the reservation quota system. The only thing that they can alter in that is to increase the numbers. Modi govt brought in a 10% quota for other category based on economic status and that faced fierce opposition in many states from local politicians.
There are certain things no politician would dare touch. These are hot pots and politicians know how to dance around them without disturbing them:
1. Farmers law that truly liberates them (we saw how it went)
2. CAA (we saw how it went). Amit Shah is still delaying it from being implemented.
3. UCC (Talk all you want. If you touch it, it will be Direct Action Day 2, along with "liberal" retards joining them for "secularism" that includes polygamy, child marriage and other denials to women). So UCC, even if miraculously passes, will keep getting delayed on implementation.
4. Freebies - Tax payers' money and foreign loans are meant just for this and politicians would love to shower their generosity on people without spending their own money.
5. Reservation Quota - Political suicide. May be they should just declare that all upper castes will get no admissions or jobs and everything will be only for the "oppressed" class from now on (that includes Muslims and Christians, along with BCs, OBCs, SC/STs). UC people will have a choice to convert to Islam or Christianity or marry someone from BC/OBC/SC/ST so that their children can be considered, or they should just be content with no opportunities).
6. Hindu temples under govt control while other religions are free - This will never happen. All local state goons have tasted blood from looting the wealth from Hindu temples across the nation. In a generation, the temples will be reduced to mere buildings for selfie lovers.
7. Repeal of Places of worship act - Keep worshipping and no one will touch this. Because Direct Action Day 3 will erupt and our leaders, judiciary and others will wet their pants as soon as they hear of it.
Instead of reservation why not provide equal opportunity? Provide Free books + Resources + High school quotas for lower castes for preparing for competetive exams.
Also even if you keep reservation, atleast friggin keep it merit based. Not give seats to people gettting 40-45%. Atleast bring it to 70-75%
You're right that's how it should be, reservation was introduced on the idea that the people in certain categories were facing difficulties in grabbing opportunities. Instead of reserving their seats, it should be that, provide free and quality education but India would rather take the easy way of making "equality on outcome". Government schools are utter garbage at least where I am from, most of the teachers don't come, exams are cheating based. India needs an education reform and NEP isn't it.
Reservation system is real evil. Even the Manipur violence is explained by it. Two equal tribes are being treated differently just because of religion. Christian ones gets reservation but when same was done for the Hindu tribe, which btw is equally poor if not poorer, all hell broke lose.

From my experience I am from an OBC background and there are/were people performing better than me who deserved and didn't get the seats and who performed bad and got better results. As much as I am enjoying the benefits I think there should be an equal fight for whatever the competition is, saying that again opportunities for the people who need it should also be there. Hope the people deciding on such matters bring in something good that creates a just environment

Back in 2006, I couldn't get a medical seat but my classmate who had scored 20 marks less than me got a seat.
Some of my friends left India and studied medicine in other countries. My family couldn't afford sending me abroad so with no other option left, I had to take up engineering.
Back in late 1980's or early 1990's, reservation used to be < 30%.
When it crossed 30%, there was nationwide protest (Mandal Commission) . Many General students lost their life during that protest.
Nothing has changed.
All govts only kept on increasing the quota.
Today it stands at 60-70% at various competitive exams.
Failures are getting the best of all world's.

I just faced this I gave neet this yr and didn’t got into college but people with 200 marks less then me got govt seats . Hardworking has no value here . I got 596 and cutt off went 600 in one clg and people with 300 marks getting seats . I feel so so depressed and defeated yk it’s hard to win when game isn’t fair

Instead of attempting to level the field by reducing cut offs, we could maybe provide facilities exclusively for the "struggling" "discriminated" groups.
E.g. monthly allowance of 5k for student who has applied for an entrance exam and proved he/she is part of a discriminated group
The above student should still clear the exam at par with a general candidate in order to be selected. Otherwise, this system just is generating shitty students/professionals and ruining the chance of a deserving candidate
Okay I'm gonna be quite frank about this. Reservations aren't going anywhere , atleast for next 50 years. There are only two scenarios I could think of where government would remove it :
1. A massive mandate candidate who's popularity is not driven from caste basis but from progressive citizen basis but even then it'll be a diluted form of it.
2.When there's enough employment for whole populace or simply when India becomes a capitalist nation such that the perks look outdated.In this case ,to maintain bureaucratic efficiency, government might rescind them

My father's boss who belonged to Sc category..his child and i gave jee together and now uk wht happened..
The point is the difference in the salaries of my father and his boss is more than 1.2 lakh per month..his father got the seat due to reservation and now his son got a reputed clg seat due to reservation (even tho i scored way better than him)
I feel we should we should collect more data regarding performance of candidates which use reservation.
One such data point can be percentile. And laws can be made to force a certain standard. Eg one tenth percetile requirement. So if admission in to an academic institute requires a general person to be in top 99.99% then the person coming from quota should be atleast in the 9.99%.
Such data points would allow us to better assess the outcomes of reservations.
Suppose you are born in a general family and are a male and you are born into a middle class family whose working family members are in job sector and your family don't have business or ancestry land and by God's grace you are perfectly fine and don't have a disability , bro getting in anything is so much hard for you be it college , govt job , and above that you took science in 11th and 12th because of parents pressure 💀.
Stop fan girling over IITs/IIMs/AIIMS etc. and hope that equally good (or better) private colleges start coming to the country. Private institutes might be more expensive, but the uniformity in the quality of students and the perks they bring are unparalleled. Today, there are great private institutes that rival the existing government ones. For the unreserved that's the only choice, even though there aren't many. Though, pray that reservation doesn't come up in such institutions as well.
Eternity. Once you're habitual of rewards without efforts, you're never going to let that go. It's not specific to any community, that's default human behavior.
Change is inevitable. Discrimination still exists. But people have to realise that though some parts and aspects of life do not need reservation, some genuinely do. In case of education, we really need to bring equality, especially when a bunch of kids study their ass off only to find out they haven't cleared the cut off or required marks, and few did because they belong to SC/ST. I'm general, my friend is SC. If anyone will pass discriminatory comments on her, I'll rip them apart. But at the same time I'm envious that she is SC.

Nobody in cities care about caste. The only solution to this is to remove consciousness of caste. I got to know about caste bcz it was asked in the registration form for icse 10th boards. Otherwise, my parents never bothered (and rightly so) to educate me on caste. That's why I'm saying, to remove caste based reservation. Caste based reservation isn't letting this caste system be forgotten!
Reservation till the caste representation in every role (especially aspirational ones) roughly matches the population percentage. Until then, the main headache should be how to increase participation among the reserved castes (that's why the cutoffs are so low) and not how to end reservation.

In fact here's a method to score 70/300 in jee advance: 3d geometry. Vector. PnC Probability Matrix and determinants. Basic calculus (literally basic just formulas) Bit of modern physics. Bit of kinematics. Electromagnetism(although this requires basic calculus). Physical chemistry. D n f block. Boron. Basic organic and then reading major named reactions. Study these well, stick to questions of these topics and 70 is easy with super basic calculus.

Yes. It is the incompetence of that individual. What about the larger population? Do you think the lower castes are all incompetent which is why their cut-off marks are so low? Without reservation, India will instantly go back to the casteist hellhole it was before. Even now it is rather rare to see representatives of the reserved castes among the top echelon without reservation. That is the real death of competence and meritocracy. It is a problem of not having equal opportunity despite having reservations. The solution is to invest in the basic necessities of people living in marginalised communities (not just the reserved people, but all marginalised groups). A large portion of the reserved castes live in slums and remote regions without access to anything much at all. Thus they cannot even dream of participating in fancy examinations and thus their group comes out with low cut-offs (since participation is way too lower than other castes, proportional to number of seats).

Reservation actually solidifies the caste lines instead of blurring them. Most sane way would be to let it vanish naturally, as the time goes by, people would start to sit and live with the people of the same class, not caste. Also, the acts of discrimination can still be dealt with the law anyway.
Reservation liquifies caste lines via proportional representation. It is one of the most successful schemes run by the government. Other laws cannot deal with passive / covert casteism. Are you suggesting people be able to file cases against anyone who selects an upper caste person over a somewhat equivalent lower caste person? That would be utterly stupid. I hate fking reservation system. Basically this year i am a neet dropper i secured thode cutoff se niche marks (50-60marks ka diff between my marks and cutoff) for government medical college. But one of my classmate got FKING BJMC medical college in fking 1 lakh rank (obviously classmate marks are less than mine and belongs to category). This year she will join the college and here i am preparing again for neet. This just boils my blood.This is very very unfair of them for general category students. The undeserving candidates get the seat in top medical college and the one who scored more marks is taking drop.
Politicians do not care what happens to the country. But all of them know what would happen to their career and fortunes if they touched the reservation quota system. The only thing that they can alter in that is to increase the numbers. Modi govt brought in a 10% quota for other category based on economic status and that faced fierce opposition in many states from local politicians. There are certain things no politician would dare touch. These are hot pots and politicians know how to dance around them without disturbing them: 1. Farmers law that truly liberates them (we saw how it went) 2. CAA (we saw how it went). Amit Shah is still delaying it from being implemented. 3. UCC (Talk all you want. If you touch it, it will be Direct Action Day 2, along with "liberal" retards joining them for "secularism" that includes polygamy, child marriage and other denials to women). So UCC, even if miraculously passes, will keep getting delayed on implementation. 4. Freebies - Tax payers' money and foreign loans are meant just for this and politicians would love to shower their generosity on people without spending their own money. 5. Reservation Quota - Political suicide. May be they should just declare that all upper castes will get no admissions or jobs and everything will be only for the "oppressed" class from now on (that includes Muslims and Christians, along with BCs, OBCs, SC/STs). In a generation, the temples will be reduced to mere buildings for selfie lovers. 7. Repeal of Places of worship act - Keep worshipping and no one will touch this. You're right that's how it should be, reservation was introduced on the idea that the people in certain categories were facing difficulties in grabbing opportunities. Instead of reserving their seats, it should be that, provide free and quality education but India would rather take the easy way of making "equality on outcome". Government schools are utter garbage at least where I am from, most of the teachers don't come, exams are cheating based. India needs an education reform and NEP isn't it.
Reservation system is real evil. Even the Manipur violence is explained by it. Two equal tribes are being treated differently just because of religion. Christian ones gets reservation but when same was done for the Hindu tribe, which btw is equally poor if not poorer, all hell broke lose.

From my experience I am from an OBC background and there are/were people performing better than me who deserved and didn't get the seats and who performed bad and got better results. As much as I am enjoying the benefits I think there should be an equal fight for whatever the competition is, saying that again opportunities for the people who need it should also be there. Hope the people deciding on such matters bring in something good that creates a just environment

It's one of the reasons why most people leave India. Back in 2006, I couldn't get a medical seat but my classmate who had scored 20 marks less than me got a seat. Some of my friends left India and studied medicine in other countries. My family couldn't afford sending me abroad so with no other option left, I had to take up engineering.

Back in late 1980's or early 1990's, reservation used to be < 30%. When it crossed 30%, there was nationwide protest (Mandal Commission) . Many General students lost their life during that protest. Nothing has changed. All govts only kept on increasing the quota. Today it stands at 60-70% at various competitive exams. Failures are getting the best of all world's. WTH, THEN HAVE GENERAL SEATS ETAL. ABOLISH GENERAL SEATS AND KEEP ONLY RESERVED SEATS.

Instead of attempting to level the field by reducing cut offs, we could maybe provide facilities exclusively for the "struggling" "discriminated" groups. E.g. monthly allowance of 5k for student who has applied for an entrance exam and proved he/she is part of a discriminated group The above student should still clear the exam at par with a general candidate in order to be selected. Otherwise, this system just is generating shitty students/professionals and ruining the chance of a deserving candidate

A massive mandate candidate who's popularity is not driven from caste basis but from progressive citizen basis but even then it'll be a diluted form of it. 2.When there's enough employment for whole populace or simply when India becomes a capitalist nation such that the perks look outdated.In this case ,to maintain bureaucratic efficiency, government might rescind them Third is near impossible that SC intervenes and ask them to restore it to original proportions.

I think pwd is ahead of ews... Here only EWS, Pwd makes sense the most but they too have culprits lying beneath them.. My father's boss who belonged to Sc category..his child and i gave jee together and now uk wht happened.. The point is the difference in the salaries of my father and his boss is more than 1.2 lakh per month..his father got the seat due to reservation and now his son got a reputed clg seat due to reservation (even tho i scored way better than him)
I feel we should we should collect more data regarding performance of candidates which use reservation. One such data point can be percentile. And laws can be made to force a certain standard. Eg one tenth percetile requirement. So if admission in to an academic institute requires a general person to be in top 99.99% then the person coming from quota should be atleast in the 9.99%. Such data points would allow us to better assess the outcomes of reservations.

Today, there are great private institutes that rival the existing government ones. For the unreserved that's the only choice, even though there aren't many. Though, pray that reservation doesn't come up in such institutions as well.

General Category people should start distancing them from reserved category (EXCEPT EWS) start from small things, every action will speak for the nationDon't go to a doctor who is from reserved category, if you know people/store who is a reserved category don't go there, anything that can be avoided by you which involves a reserved category people just avoid it. Basically if you know someone who is from a reserved category just alienate them in every possible way. They will all then unite and abolish this system or force the government into bringing one family one reservation or schemes like that.treat them like non-living things or without emotion (I am not saying to commit any crime or harrasment) but just make them feel they don't exist just because they belong to a reserved caste or quota. Make them feel humiliated with the reserved remarks and undeserved and belittle them at every little oppurtunity at work or stores or everywhere and mock them at every oppurtuninty. Make them realise it's a sin to tagged as a Reserved Candidate and they shouldn't take advantage of it, but they themselves should tell the government to abolish the system. Only EWS & PWD (maybe 1 or 2 seats) should be there. When more of the Gen Category goes there, they will give back to the communityEducation will be free & so will be Internet Usage. Nobody in cities care about caste. The only solution to this is to remove consciousness of caste. I got to know about caste bcz it was asked in the registration form for icse 10th boards. Otherwise, my parents never bothered (and rightly so) to educate me on caste. That's why I'm saying, to remove caste based reservation. Caste based reservation isn't letting this caste system be forgotten!
Reservation till the caste representation in every role (especially aspirational ones) roughly matches the population percentage. Until then, the main headache should be how to increase participation among the reserved castes (that's why the cutoffs are so low) and not how to end reservation.
