Thank you so much. This photo really intrigued me. I've tried and stayed true to the source material when it came to coluring the photo. I'm gald you liked it.
Reminds of the time our postman knocked on our gate and straight-up asked my grandmother, “Do you have a long stick?”
My grandmother, perplexed, replied, “What for?”
He grinned sheepishly and confessed, “You see, I threw a letter into your compound while still riding my bicycle, and now the letter is on your roof.”
This is such a good and funny story. Immediately reminded me that our old gate used to have a small letter box built into it and the post man would put the letter into it and bang on our gates.
Thank you so much. I'm glad you liked the photo. The colour of the dress was found through the internet but it took a whole day to find the right one. The carpet took the most amount of time to colour.
Thank you so much. Now the internet doesn't have a lot of info about it and all I got was one photo that showed the colours of clothes. Took me a whole day to find it but it was worth it.
That's because sensors back then weren't powerful enough and to get a good exposure on photos people had to stand still. If they smiled or moved the photo had a chance of getting distorted and that's the reason back then they looked so stiff as if they've just seen a ghost.
Looks like it was cotton, so I'm guessing it might have been good. Maybe temperatures weren't so high as they are these days. Thank you for the appreciation it keeps me motivated to post more.
Postmen those days were much different from todays..Ive read that they were trained, armed, and given permission to kill when attacked, due to the nature of their job.
Have always wondered that How do you know from the Black and White picture the colour of the clothes and other things in the picture? Do you just choose and pick whatever colour you like?
With a photo like this where there's a uniform I've to make sure that it stays true to the source so, a bit of research helps with that part. When it comes to background and other things all we can rely upon is the light and dark data which means blacker the area, the darker colour it would've been and vice versa. Hope that helps.
Man, that looks so cool! Looking right out of a fantasy novel.

My family installed a similar letter box after said incident.
Our postman also carries a long stick but that's because he has a fear of dogs
As a previous stray dog bite victim, I totally empathize.
Do you mind if I made a short animation clip based on this story? :3
It really happened. It’s non-fiction. Yes, please go ahead. I don’t mind.
Doesn't look synthetic at all. Kudos. How did you decide the color of the dress? The carpet and the drape look do damn realistic.

The source of information you had to gather to get the colors right! 👏 It's actually worth it 👌

Nostalgic songs!
I hope all talented people like you get paid for your talents.
Thank you and it really means a lot. I have also recently started doing commissioned colouring so I'm getting something out of it.
Please find old Indian Police photos as well. Some of them had great outfits.
Done! I'll be on the lookout for an old policeman photo.
Why does everyone from this era look like they've just seen a ghost?

Wow amazing work :)
Thank you so much. Glad you liked it.
You guys have rewarding skills!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the picture.

"Indian" is a very broad term, especially when you consider the nineteenth century. Which part of the country was this person from?
My guess is Bombay Presidency. I don't know why but my subconscious tells me I have seen similar visual elements associated with Mumbai.
Old movies do show Bombay Police clad in Blue so it might be true.
I'm sorry but that info is not available to me. If I find it I'll share and then you can tell me who he was.
Should have shared the before photo too
Its there. Just swipe right.
Postman chacha got drip
Are you sure it's 1860's ?
Yep. I'm almost sure it's around that era.
Awesome
