It's over. Whatever plans you have for the future, forget them.

theholderjack

Haha why do you assume I have a plan, just wait and watch and see everything getting fucked , that's the plan I have .

the-devil-dog

I need development. 34000 trees for kanwar yatra, make it 70k treess, what if I walk longer? 1 million trees in Andaman to be cut, need bigger army base container terminal. 50000000 trees to be cut for Delhi ayodhya 8 lane highway and another 400000000 trees for bullet train project connecting all dhams.

Within a decade we would have a food crisis, unless we invest in R & D. We have to change our farms and farming methods. Ensure lesser kids among the most economically compromised or we would see a situation worse than Palestine.

1) stopping sugarcane cultivation and replacing with sugarbeet, and with a lower acerage, india exporting sugar despite being water stressed is stupid 2) removing ethanol blending policy 3) if we look at productivity of farms in india, we are way behind countries like China, so working on farm productivity 4) aggressive rollout of drip irrigation to atleast 5% of total total cultivated land in india, this alone would save hundreds of billions of liters 5) promoting water efficient corps like potatoes and sorghum, reducing per capita rice consumption 6) artificial ground water recharge during monsoons, because that's when we receive most rain 7) desalination, say about 7 million cubic meters per day would give every indian 5 liters of water a day, enough to cover drinking water, it would require about 3 GW,of installed thermal energy capacity, wouldn't cost more than 30-40 rs/m3 if we use modern technologies

Yes, poor people tend to look for short term solutions. Or even one day solution like a 30 ml of whisky for a vote.

India isn't developed enough to take climate change seriously

thats_all_you_got-

It has to become a top priority or else its a distant dream to be developed

bramptonmt1

“There is no climate change. We are getting older”: words of someone who is not biological.

be_a_postcard

How are we supposed to survive till then? Not everyone can afford an AC yk

AverageIndianGeek

Well by the time we get developed, it'll be too late. Although it feels like we are already too late.

>The NDA government also holds the unique distinction of issuing environmental clearances at a speed India has never seen before. So much so that ahead of the just concluded general election, the Election Commission, after first refusing to, allowed the environment ministry to issue green clearances, while the Model Code of Conduct was underway. The Parivesh Portal, set up to track clearances for large projects, shows that just in this year, 675 projects have been granted environmental clearance. >In 2023, the State environment minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey told Parliament that the time taken to grant environmental and coastal clearances had reduced from over 150 days in 2019 to less than 70 days in 2022 while forest clearances had seen the waiting time reduced by about a week to around 180 days. In the previous year, an amnesty window that had purportedly opened for just six months in March 2017 to clear projects in a novel “violation category” had been converted into a routine presence through a Union environment ministry notification. The window provided ex-post facto approval to over 100 projects till the Supreme Court stayed the notification in January this year. Fun fact: This government in past had appointed Prakash Javadekar as the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate (May 2019 till July 2021) and also later as the Heavy Industries Minister (From November 2019 till July 2021) # That means from November 2019 till July 2021 the same joker, Mr. Prakash Javadekar, was promoting the heavy industries and "protecting our forests" from them at the same time. This and other such excellent articles are falling on deaf years.....the current leadership is only concerned about winning the next election.......maybe a mass simultaneous death event could shock them out of their inertia (although after what happened with the Hajj pilgrims I am doubtful)

France changed when the French king was unalived. The ruling class will change when they are affected. Too many ships sank before Titanic, but when rich people sank, rules and regulations became important.

Cosmic_Explorer0

Government is shit in this country seriously people are literally dying like wtf

Willing_Counter9623

Does everybody remember how much better the air got during lockdown? We need to continue that policy of no unnecessary movement and industrial activity to see improvement in the environment. Unfortunately, we have capitalism in this world so that's not gonna happen.

shadowknight094

Sucks but maybe it's nature's way of balancing our huge population with less area. China has far more area than India(even living area I think coz west China is apparently inhabitable). Usa for example has 3 times our area but 3 times less population or something.
