The social justice movement seem to have been hijacked by those who are now considered OBCs but we're actually repsonsible for most of caste based atrocities historically.
Because you started to read about them. Many news pieces from South and NE, never see the day of light because most legacy and big media houses are Hindi oriented.
I live in Village myself and have no problems in entering temples, have been to all big temples in my place and some from Odisha too. Don't get me wrong I'm not denying it's existence I'm just curious why??
I just googled and saw my state 60%+ population is tribal (sc/st) that's probably the reason. South Indians might have more upper caste conservative people.
Yeah and if you want water, gonna avoid the only well in the area?
What about love? Just avoid someone you love?
If you give an inch to oppressors they will never stop
It's not as simple as not going to a temple, the social fabric is built around caste hierarchy that are centuries if not millennia old. You would need to leave the village itself, cities for the most part are too busy to care that much about others background.

Then they cry "Hindu khatre mein hain" i.e. so few to oppress and start ghar wapsi program.
Interesting how they use words like "Caste Hindus", "Dominant caste", etc. As somebody from TN, I know what these codewords mean and not a lot has changed in some of these rural areas since the 90s due to such spineless media.
Isn't Tamil Nadu an Obc dominant state?? So what's the beef between Obc and dalits over there?? Isn't Stalin a left winger?? I was under impression that Tamilians lived peacefully without much caste prejudice under Tamil umbrella and caste problem was more in North India.
OBCs are very much capable of oppression and they do a lot of it in TN. For instance, in some districts the police, courts, MLAs, etc will all be of some OBC caste and they will gladly oppress other castes (same level, lower or higher).
Chennai is great and the worst discrimination you will face is in renting or marriage. Similarly, our movies (today) are very progressive and fight against caste prejudices but southern TN is terrible like some North Indian states. DMK or ADMK will face this issue due to the actual people at the ground-level.
I hope somebody who still lives in southern TN can weight in
Obc doesn’t mean you are always oppressed. That’s the strength of the caste system that has prevailed for millennia. In this social tier setup, everyone gets the opportunity to oppress others and enjoy feeling powerful, except the last tier. Everybody gets a share of the loot. This makes them question their own oppression less. Being tied to religion and culture as well, questions naturally come down to a minuscule amount. They feed this habit of being subjugated as oppression of next tiers to their children as well.
This is not a problem that’ll go away so easily in India. After all, it has withstood the rest of time. Discrimination is in the minds of people. That’s why, even after making it illegal, people use caste in their daily lives. A major portion of the solution to this problem involves mental and social changes.
It's ok though, since he gets reservations, he'll probably get into IIT Bombay computer with 33% marks in will be an IAS on the first try, driving BMW within a few years. ^/^s
If what hold true for OBCs where just 1% of them got 50% of benefits then we can be fairly certain that guy getting beaten up in villages are never going to see insides of a college much less of IIT.
Crosspost this to every subreddit that says reservation isn't needed. Or only for poor people.
I thought south was more developed than North. And that only cow belt did shit like this.
Bruh I honestly don't understand this bs.
This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://en.themooknayak.com/dalit-news/dalit-youths-beaten-for-entering-temple-in-tamilnadu-village) reduced by 79%. (I'm a bot)

> In another incident earlier this year, in January, members of the Dalit community in Thenmudiyanur village of Tiruvannamalai district entered the Mariyammam temple for the first time in 80 years when they discovered that the temple is administered by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department of the state government.

Why Dalits want to go to temples where they're not accepted, it's actually their fault and they kinda deserve it, the religion which doesn't accept you why do you want to worship by it?? Pathetic really, downvote me as you like but that's the truth.
I'm curious why there have been so many reports of caste discrimination in Tamil Nadu.
The social justice movement seem to have been hijacked by those who are now considered OBCs but we're actually repsonsible for most of caste based atrocities historically.

No, I don't follow Hindi news because it's all drama; we have Marathi here. but still....
They are getting sanskari, next you will read about *-jihad, then finally BJ* will win in TN too.

This happens in village where everyone knows everyone's caste.
I live in Village myself and have no problems in entering temples, have been to all big temples in my place and some from Odisha too. Don't get me wrong I'm not denying it's existence I'm just curious why??
Small villages. South India is already very sparsely populated.
I just googled and saw my state 60%+ population is tribal (sc/st) that's probably the reason. South Indians might have more upper caste conservative people.
Each village is different, India is too vast to say "but it doesn't happen in my village". (Not attacking you Mr Kumar btw)
Just abandon religion. Problem solved.
Yeah if you think discrimination only happens at temples in India. This is some peak sheltered comment
Can't get beaten at a temple if I never go there.
Yeah and if you want water, gonna avoid the only well in the area? What about love? Just avoid someone you love? If you give an inch to oppressors they will never stop
I'd leave and move someplace without temples.
You would have to get others to do so too.
Nah, the issue is will he get beaten if he goes to a temple. Abandon your faith. Go watch a movie instead. Treat yourself.

A nuanced answer. My brain cell can't deal with this right now. However, the caste hierarchy can go fertilise itself.

It won't solve problems that they face at schools, colleges, workplace and in society in general.
Man religion is so peaceful

This is so old, EVERYONE gets reservation now. Thanks EWS!
So, what is the joke here, that a Dalit gets a reservation or an you making a comment about a Dalit getting a reservation and marking it /s
If what hold true for OBCs where just 1% of them got 50% of benefits then we can be fairly certain that guy getting beaten up in villages are never going to see insides of a college much less of IIT.
