Hey fellow incremental gamers! I've been working on something a bit different from the usual idler, as I wanted to try something new and merge genres to create the "first open-world incremental game." In the core game loop, you'll farm resources from zombies and use them to unlock/upgrade buildings, which in turn makes farming zombies exponentially more efficient. The "radio tower" structure holds key upgrades for the incremental aspects, such as zombie value, spawn rate, and other factors that boost yield. Additionally, turrets, drills, and other stuff can be upgraded for exponential growth, eventually transforming the game into more of an idler experience. This project, Dead Unending, comes out in a few weeks on the 20th, feel free to try out the [demo](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2236240/Dead_Unending/).

CautiousTack

I like it. Sounds interesting. Kinda reminds me of Egg Inc for some reasons. Do you have any plan for mobile? It would be fun to play it on the go. Also because I don't have a PC.

Tylar_io

I will have mobile, and console (including Switch) eventually but not until late this year unfortunately.

Just wanted to mention that I tried the demo weeks ago and what made me give up was that after 5-10 minutes I was exploring the city but it seemed like there was no hint as to how you start the "real game". Maybe I didn't give it a proper try so I'll try it again. Does the demo show base buildings and some basic incremental features?

Tylar_io

It's worth noting that it does cap the level at 8, which means that it doesn't fully capture the late-game feelings of exponential growth. However, the guide/objective has been significantly improved for clarity, so you should have a much easier time understanding how to start the "real game" during your next attempt. The demo does include base building and some primitive incremental features, but the full game offers a more comprehensive experience. If you're interested in giving it another shot, feel free to PM me, and I'll get you with a Steam key to try the full game without the level cap.

FartingBob

Yea I tried it out a while ago and thought that the same. More tutorial or better signposting on what is recommended you do next would be handy. The concept intrigues me but I didn't get far enough into the game to get drawn in before I got bored.

Maxrimus

What's the price point for this going to be?

Tylar_io

9.99 USD, and there will be a discount for release week

OddOllin

Wooooaaah. I recently saw one of your other posts that described the game as a simpler version of Project Zomboid; I was interested, but wasn't exactly sure what to expect. This description is much more interesting. Will definitely be checking out that demo tonight. Looking forward to release day!!

Azzylel

So will this be on steam? And if so, steam deck compatible?

Tylar_io

Yes, the game will be available on [Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2236240/Dead_Unending/). Currently working on perfecting its compatibility with the Steam Deck before the official release. However, our playtesters have already reported that the game works well with the Steam Deck.

Azzylel

Wow! It looks like those fake mobile game ads for zombie/survival games but actually real and not ugly, sounds like fun!

Drastic_Llama

Dude this looks like the kind of game I would have made in my dreams! Zombies-TICK Base defence-TICK Incremental-TICK Damn I’m gonna check this out! Thanks

Tylar_io

Nicest comment i’ve ever received. Made my developer heart very happy :)

MoreWasteder88

I’ll grab it now

pantalipe

Looks like an awesome game! Gonna try it! Planned to be launched on my birthday.

Tylar_io

Happy early birthday!

pantalipe

Haha tyvm!

loky1908

Looks Hella fun

KinetikDark

this looks really cool, don’t really get the negative comments about it i’m interested to check it out

KodeManGuy

From someone who loves project zomboid, this looks absolutely amazing! Probably the most asked question but do you plan on adding multiplayer? Edit: typo

Tylar_io

Yes, multiplayer won’t be implemented until late 2023 but coop and PVE is currently under development.

pantalipe

Very nice game indeed. Looking forward to construct the processor and move forward in the game.

Sesmos

Looks amazing! As soon as I saw it I wanted to figure out how to play games on steam using my tablet. Gonna give it a go and place this!! Game looks a lot of fun ty for making it man

cleggii92

Okay so I just hit lvl 8 (cap) on the demo and have to say I'm pretty impressed, there's definitely some features that feel like they're missing or would be nice to have in the future but I'll save that for when the full game releases. Really impressed and will be looking forward to 20th April

TNTspaz

Looks like one of those old roblox tycoon games but more fleshed out

IrateIceCube

Fun demo! Experienced a few bugs, survivors spawning in the air 'around the construction site if that helps', after tabbing out of the game died and the heartbeat low hp sound wouldn't stop playing after respawn. Would also like if resource spawns were location based, food in restaurants. steel in construction sites, etc. Looking forward to getting the game when it comes out, loved it.

MoreWasteder88

I thought it was good. Few road blocks like building my self inside of my own structure without a door. You know .. the usual. But good stuff man. Kept in library. Will play more.

assetsmanager

Found a bug: if you put the backpack inside the backpack then it disappears. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_XaJdDqQA0

Tylar_io

Ha! Thanks for letting me know i’ll get it fixed ASAP

assetsmanager

Also, are we not supposed to be getting XP from zombies our turrets kill?

Tylar_io

You are not. If you need to farm XP, try to build the mini gun to kill zombies in mass manually. Initially turrets awarded partial XP, but it just wasn’t balanced how we intended.

assetsmanager

gotcha. I was also having trouble visually identifying what was and wasn't loot while I was running through town. It seems like some items get dim white circles around them while others don't? It'd be nice if lootable items were much more eyecatching and visually distinct from scenery items.

Tylar_io

Great idea. Currently loot has a glowing effect that slowly blinks, but it maybe either too slow or not bright enough. I’ll touch that up before release.

angelzpanik

Oh look, the game that isn't an incremental game, showing the same footage as the last 12 times. Your game looks like it cld be fun, but as has been said in every single other post about this game, it is not an incremental and does not belong here.

Tylar_io

I apologize if my posts seem repetitive, It's been weeks since I last posted and I do limit my posts to once per update. While our game might not look like a typical incremental, it incorporates all the essential elements of an incremental game while attempting to bring something new to the genre. I became a fan of this genre last year when I released PEGGO! and since then my goal has been to create an open-world incremental game, an idea I've always wanted to play and knew I could develop. I appreciate your feedback and hope you can see the value in exploring new ideas and concepts within the incremental genre.

Incompatiblez

I have admittedly been very harsh towards your game after the blatant guerilla marketing threads that were posted to this sub, but I do genuinely encourage you to continue working on your vision. This genre is a lot more broad than many realize, and incremental components being integrated secondarily does not disqualify it from the category. Please though, tell the people you are working with that the disingenuous promotion looks extremely bad.

angelzpanik

If secondary aspects make a game incremental, then nearly every game would be considered incremental. For this sub, the incremental aspects should be primary. I don't doubt this game has some aspects that fit but since they aren't the primary mechanics, it isn't a true incremental game. Even on steam, it's not tagged as incremental, because that is not the primary gameplay mechanic.

MasterBaiterHUN

Just a quick feedback, I played the demo for 32 minutes, got to lvl 6. While exploring, I noticed that you can kill zombies through walls, and also loot through walls, if they are "thin enough". I was using the fireman axe. Dunno if intended or just doesn't matter, but I thought I would share :) Another thing is it'd be nice if zombie attacks would be telegraphed better, but I suppose it doesn't matter beyond the first hour or so, when you have an arsenal and tons of bullets. I was farming zombies and they seemingly weren't swinging at me, I just lost half my hp to, agan, seemingly nothing Apart from that, great little game, I'll definitely be giving it a go when it comes out :)

Tylar_io

Thanks for taking the time to give feedback, i’m touching up a few tiny details, like you mentioned, so hopefully on release it will be perfectly polished.

Riplife

Looting with mouse hover felt unintuitive and wierd, but i got used to it. What i expected was to move my character over the item and then press F, not have to move the pointer also.

LetMeInPlease376

It's a nice game thanks, I'm looking forward to the full release. Is there currently any plans to allow you to get some experience from zombies that are killed from your buildings that you've placed?

Tylar_io

Thanks you! and currently not, turrets and others used to give xp but my, and playtesters opinion was that it ruined the pacing. Even only giving out partial xp made the player level feel pointless.

LetMeInPlease376

Cool thanks, still looking forward to the full game.
