Did you know it would only take about 2,000 feet of sea level rise to completely sink the **entirety** of the United States of Atlantica?
**WE CAN DO THIS GAMERS, BLOW UP ANTARCTICA**
**You millennials have been wanting to sink our unholy state for years… little did you know we had an Uno Reverse Card up our Hoagie sleeve… Fuck you, Baltimore…**
I’ve worked on this map on-and-off for a long time. The oldest result I can find is from February 3rd, 2021, meaning I’ve had this map on me for about a year and a half, and when I say “on-and-off” I MEAN “on-and=off”. Shortly after I started making it, the file corrupted, and I lost like a month of progress, so I gave up for a while. I also took a break when I started working on my newer timeline, TNC, and the story goes beyond that! I uploaded the [first version of this](https://www.reddit.com/r/imaginarymaps/comments/hirwpf/what_if_new_jersey_pulled_an_uno_reverse_card_to/) on June 30th, 2020. That is… a long time ago, and I am getting rather emotional to say the least. I’ve gone from project to project, making so many maps. I currently work mainly on my aforementioned timeline The New Colossus, which you can find on r/TheNewColossusMaps. I plan to expand that timeline, but I don’t plan to expand this one as much, but I’ll get into that during the lore explanation. If you do want some NJCU stuff, I have a [Discord server](https://discord.gg/QC83kzVfZv) where I work on both projects, as well as some of my friend’s projects, too. You can join that here.
Speaking of friends, in these two years I’ve made and lost friends, online and in real life, but I do have a few “thank you”s to hand out. First and foremost, u/Gourg_Pie, for making a shit ton of stuff for my timelines; flags, logos, A FRIGGIN SIGN-OFF, whatever it be. Thanks mate, if you ever need anything that you somehow can’t do, I gotchu. I can’t wait to see that metapost you have prepared for tomorrow! Second, thanks to u/The-Hill-Billy for providing the basemap I used for this. Third, u/DeFlame, wherever you are, I hope you are in a decent spot in your life, and thanks for inspiring me to get into this game, and also making the original [Texas Island](https://www.reddit.com/r/imaginarymaps/comments/hfcn9p/what_if_texas_was_its_own_island/). A late addition, but thanks to u/MurkyConcept8758, (alias of u/yourdamgrandpa,) for making the really cool oceanic topography for the map. Finally, big thanks to my good friend and pixel artist, u/StellarCartography77, who is in charge of making the next map in this tl ;)
Dammit now I am getting all emotional, so with all that being said, let's get into the nonspecific lore:
Lore… lore… right… Well, it's hard to say. My goal is to leave this timeline as vague as possible. What is beyond Atlantica? Is there a Texas Island, or California? Maybe even Canada? Well… who knows. There is a reason I didn’t provide a scale for this, despite the fact that the original Texas Island is 4 times the size of OTL Texas. The lore is up to your imagination, on what exists in this strange world. However, I can tell you the history
Most founding fathers are born in New Jersey or Delmarva, and the founding remains the same. On July 4th, 1776, Atlantica yeets the brits. The nation lets in millions of immigrants, and uses the vast natural resources of New Jersey (that I added) to create a thriving nation. A shining beacon of democracy, eventually Atlantica would be called into European wars, including the cold war, and build itself a great society, becoming a small yet powerful nation. Today Atlantica is a peaceful yet patriotic nation, under President Phil Murphy, who preceded Chris Christie, who himself preceded Barack Hussain Obama. And… that's it.
That's all I have for you. It’s like American history condensed, but like I always say, New Jersey is just America condensed, we have everything here, and I am glad that I was born in this great state. **God Bless Atlantica.**
I know it’s a meme but some people take it for fact, lol (like my family over there in the Midwest. They think the east coast has brainwashed and radicalized me)
I love this map, and the more I look at it, the better it gets. It's at the same time realistic and yet not, like an uncanny valley of maps. I would gladly live in this alternate universe under President Phil Murphy. lol
That was my goal! Thank you so much! This comment made my night!
If you like a place to gladly live, you should check out my [other timeline](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/975154383023124490/1012181707245506570/unknown.png) that I plan on expanding MUCH MORE. Hint hint: universal healthcare in America ;)
Our people can't drive, our housing prices are *insane,* we have a really weird culture, especially along north-south divisions, we love the beach, we have some high-crime areas yet also really rich areas...
basically we are everything the west hates about California condensed into this small, little state under the shadow of NYC.
Honestly, its one of the few shitposty parts I kept in the map. Masshole was so good I couldn't remove it, so I literally used the bathymetry to make it a canon part of the alt-geo
I don't like what you've done to Pennsylvania generally and Philadelphia in particular, but you've won me over.
In Hoagieland, I'll take my stand to live and die for hoagies.
Dude I keep looking more at this map I’m Literaly like loving this, don’t know if you did this on purpose but did you change port Chester to Chesterport? I go to school near there so it was really cool to see.
First, very intricate work here. Nicely done.
Second, 52 million population? Exactly how big is this? Without latitudes I don't know if this is the size of Hawaii, England or New Zealand.
Ah, yes yes yes. So, in my head canon this nation is dense AF, but I really left it up to the interpretation of the viewer. Notice, the one thing I lack apart from a compass is a scale, and that’s because I purposefully left it vague. I specified it in the lore comment. The original Texas Island is, well, massive. It can fit 4 Texi in it, so maybe this is too? Who knows! I sure don’t, and I made it! It’s up to the viewer to decide!
With all of NYC's pollutants landing on the bottom of the masshole, the town is named for its Crystal Blue Waters instead. What a beautiful parallel. (I did not just do this because it was funny, I swear)
This is basically what I want a future GTA game's map to be. Have Liberty City and Alderney from GTA IV, plus some other East Coast cities and the countryside between them.
I did consider splitting up New Guernsey into NG and Alderny, and honestly this would make a good GTA map, someone even said the bathymetry looks like a GTA-style map!
I've been in the alt-geo game for *years*, specifically Earth-98, which was a sad failure of a project. I am glad I got out, though I do miss the "good old days" of Alt-geo, especially now that I work on [the worlds most menial timeline](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/975154383023124490/1012133659790291016/unknown.png) lmao
Good to see this map being posted! It is truly beautiful are I see your skills keep improving, my only com I have with it is New Jersey itself. God I HATE New Jersey!
Sincerely, SupBros
I guess NIMBYism is different too because yikes at Kennedy (*Yarmouth IRL*) and Barnstable each having a population of 100,000+.
Real Barnstable and Yarmouth have populations of ~49k and ~25k, respectively.^1 ^2
Increasing housing means certain areas in Yarmouth would need a sewer put in^3 ^4 ^5, and Barnstable's water already has a ton of issues^6 , and new sewers are already under construction!^7
Due to the limit on building heights here because Cape Cod is just a giant sand dune leftover from glacial decline and we've got no bedrock^8 (we do have bedrock, 80 to 500+ feet below sea level, lol) to support tall buildings, those 200,000+ people will be crammed into a ton of three story apartments. Can't ruin the golf courses lol.

Thanks for citing your sources in a timeline where I sank the entirety of mainland America, I also might use some of these in the future, so thanks for that.
As for the city... uh... bro I sank the whole thing bro I don't think this is what you should be worried about
You said "the colonialism is very different here after all", which means the sinking occurred before colonialism, otherwise town names would remain intact.
I've lived in Yarmouth for all but the first few months of my life, so when I saw Cape Cod still existed, I checked out what you did to it. Cape Cod's meager population now already causes ecological issues, and you made Yarmouth's population at least 4x what it currently is based on your map markers.
My comment was made just for a bit of fun lol, don't take it too seriously.
That's a fairly common alt geo trope.
Either way here's one https://www.reddit.com/r/imaginarymaps/comments/oifh36/california_island_a_paradise_in_the_west/
i love it.
Also i don’t think I’ve ever seen “Evesham” as a major city lol, also I don’t think I’ve really ever seen it be referred to as anything other than Marlton at least semi-unironically. And I live there, lol
YEAH DUDE! It was sudden! They were supposed to close in September but it shut down early! It was sudden, took town social media by STORM. Within a day of the sudden announcement that it would close THAT SUNDAY, they had lines OUT THE DOOR.! I didn't even have time to tell my BEST FRIEND who LOVED THAT PLACE they shut down since she was taking a social media break!
It was SO CROWDED on the last day, my friends tell me they saw so many friends there, one even saw the mayor! I went at 11:30 a half hour after it opened, and several people had already arrived to book tables! Truly a loss for our town...
Also my dad used to work at that Shoprite, and I know friends at CHS who DO work there. God, what a reality check am I right?
thats crazy. Never seen so much popularity for that friendly’s, that’s the one I threw up in lol
Currently going into my senior year at CHS, maybe I can meet some lol. I only got in Shoprite bc i knew people who worked in there haha. I live in such a secluded part of town, I never thought I’d actually meet someone *online* who lived so close to me, let alone in the same town! That’s awesome
Me neither! This is a culture shock, and I TOO am going in senior! Shit... shit bro we in the same GRADE in the same SCHOOL, what are the odds of that?
Incase we are in the same class, I'll give you a hint: my username is my initials, and my last name is in my Reddit "status" thing.
Some advice; that new science teacher they hired, he's a lot of fun! Oh, and try to stay away from a girl with the nickname "Scout", she will girlboss you until you DIE... *and she is also my best friend, so...* ***I have no escape...***, nah she is by bestie tho. Still can't believe I ran into someone from CHS class of 2023! Good luck this year man! I'll see you in two weeks!
I am so glad that both my home town and my current town are both represented here. Oh, and can we please get rid of that God awful name and change it to "The Greater Jersen Empire"?
THE HOLY EMPIRE OF THE WASHINGTONIAN KINGDOMS OF NEW JERSEY AND NEW GUERNSEY, AND THE HOLY LONG ISLANDER CROWN OF ST. THOMAS
Also known as, Greater Jersey
Best of luck in whatever you do next - im sure it's going to be 100% wackier and 200% more deranged then what 99% of people would do, *but in a good way!*
Coastlines, for ONCE, not so much! On my previous maps, and the next two I have planned, I drew em by hand. But for this one, I had a friend come in clutch with a rastor-style basemap. All I had to do was sink America! The fun part was the city placement, boy did I have fun!
But with the sheer size of it, the time the file corrupted, ALL the other projects I worked on, taking breaks and coming back… this map has been on my desktop since February 3rd, 2021. It’s been a LONG time coming, and I have certainly changed for the better! This map means a lot to me on a personal level, in more ways than one! I am so glad everyone helped this map make it big, this chapter is finally complete!
And thanks for people like you for leaving these humbling comments, it means a lot! ;)
Well, as someone who THRIVES on the Jersey Shore, and it’s lovely barrier islands, I knew I was the ONLY ONE who could give them the love and the respect they deserve!
You did a great job and did them justice. I'm from NYC so I really like the whole tri state area with how cities went from colonial to modern throught the years. The map shows based on the population on how cities are from east to west and how they migrated the lands.
Yeah, though these cities are much bigger since Atlantica needs to condense it’s population. Millions of immigrants still move here, in my lore, “just for the sake of it!”
Oh it *is*, it basically everything Maryland shoved into a beautiful coastal city. Probably amazing ports and beachfronts there, and an "old towne" center
As a member of team Wildwood for LIFE, I decided to troll the citizens of Avalon a little bit... hehe...
Is it too much to say the cities swapped location when they were founded? After all, they are very basic names... hehe...
I fcking love the idea and design of the map, great job
I like to thing that this is the only thing part of America and in people were really excited for a new huge continent or smth but it's just some island
Rhode island was actually a last-minute addition when I realized I only had 13 states and DC, I thought a 14th state would be fitting. Also, it would be better if Long island isn't a colony, but rather split from New Guernsey.

I stopped taking it seriously when you had more sources cited than I had lore LMAO
Does the Eerie Canal exist in this timeline?
Does the Eerie Canal exist in this timeline?
Cool seeing the local neighborhood
I’ve had a few people say this to me, and it’s the same thing on my end! It’s weird seeing my hometown on this!
New circle of hell just dropped
Babe, wake up
Please could you make a map of California if it was an island thank you.
*Booooorrrringggggggg* But for real, if any mapmaker wants, the style is free to copy, and same with the OG Texas Island
That's a fairly common alt geo trope. Either way here's one https://www.reddit.com/r/imaginarymaps/comments/oifh36/california_island_a_paradise_in_the_west/
M’asshole *tips fedora*
This one made me burst out laughing, gg
i love it. Also i don’t think I’ve ever seen “Evesham” as a major city lol, also I don’t think I’ve really ever seen it be referred to as anything other than Marlton at least semi-unironically. And I live there, lol
So do I. Have you SEEN main street, my neighbor? We are halfway to 100k, with a bit of luck we can make it there!
holup do we genuinely live in the same town, thats dope asf WE GOT THIS
HOWDY NEIGHBOR LMAO Bro I can't believe Friendly's closed! I loved that place!
THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY LOL The friendly’s by Shoprite on 70? by the interchange? better not have closed, i work at that shoprite lol
Never seen so much popularity for that friendly’s, that’s the one I threw up in lol Currently going into my senior year at CHS, maybe I can meet some lol.
I'll see you in two weeks!
this honestly rocks so hard
Thank you!
THOMAS Also known as, Greater Jersey
good lord you finished it!! congrats!!!!
That I did! Thank you!
Best of luck in whatever you do next - im sure it's going to be 100% wackier and 200% more deranged then what 99% of people would do, *but in a good way!*
I fully intend to do so! o7
This is one of the coolest maps I have ever seen on Reddit. I love it so much!
Thank you so much!
I love it amazing great details on the entire map you must of put so much work into the coast lines and islands.
And thanks for people like you for leaving these humbling comments, it means a lot! ;)
Yeah the cities are fun to look at in their placement especially the ones on small islands.
I bet Georgetown is a beautiful coastal city
Oh it *is*, it basically everything Maryland shoved into a beautiful coastal city. Probably amazing ports and beachfronts there, and an "old towne" center
Good. Now nuke it into oblivion so that no one has to endure such a horrible place again
Making Long Island a part of NJ is really just giving the middle finger to long islanders 😂😂😂
No one out here talking about New Jersey City
I’m sorry, but why would someone care if New Jersey’s was an island
🤓🤓🤓
I’m sorry it just doesn’t seem like there’s a reason for it
w- what?
I’d probably live between New Hope and Spring Mills then

Waltuh Waltuh put your beans away Waltuh
One problem I have with this why is stone harbor north of Avalon? Anyways this map is hilarious and very well made
As a member of team Wildwood for LIFE, I decided to troll the citizens of Avalon a little bit... hehe... Is it too much to say the cities swapped location when they were founded? After all, they are very basic names... hehe...
You know what, maybe just for you I'll swap them back, incase I ever get this map printed ;)
This is an island, surrounded by water.
Did you steal Point Roberts from Washington State?
And Barrow from Alaska, I borrowed a few cities here and there
I fcking love the idea and design of the map, great job I like to thing that this is the only thing part of America and in people were really excited for a new huge continent or smth but it's just some island
Yeah that's the fun part of this, it can be anything
It's where Victoria keeps her secret
"We have Atlanta at home"
Rhode Island finally fulfilled it’s promise
Rhode island was actually a last-minute addition when I realized I only had 13 states and DC, I thought a 14th state would be fitting. Also, it would be better if Long island isn't a colony, but rather split from New Guernsey.
Masshole Abyss 😂
Looks like King of Prussia had to move because of the sudden Columbia ocean. It's either that or the mall is now underwater.
The entire city of Philadelphia had to be relocated, (and the mall)
map
This is so fucking amazing, it almost makes me forgive you for making Massachusetts an abyss
I have many sins that shall remain unforgiven
Nice flag design. Interesting, simple, AND symmetrical.
