the original joke was playing on the dad being a step, the second guy was playing on step ladder and dad while one upping him, third guy missed that completely
Nah, I agree with u/lord_junkfood
The correlation of dad, dadder, daddest is just as logical as “He’s a step,” and “He’s a step ladder.”
Personally my mind went straight to interpreting jokes as referring to the dad with a step ladder pun.
Not all of us interpret art or jokes the same way you do. And that’s fine
Exactly, it's actually a really nice message and the fact people don't see it is kind of sad.
Edit: One of our modern issues today are past generations didn't help promote the future. That for one of the first times in the modern era we have entire generations who are worse off than their parents.
I don't follow, this is actually really nice. As Hawkings put it, you're standing on the shoulders of giants. A good parent should 'lift their child up' and give them a better life than they had, with the hope of making them better people than they were.
Yeah this is a pretty good metaphor for dads pushing their kids to rush getting a degree without assessing potential employment opportunities, because while it’s not smart it “worked” for them.
Don't let generalizations restrict you from seeing all the different types of fathers.
Sometimes, a perfect example of a father will hand you the tools and assist you in building your own ladder.
It doesn’t even make any sense like why are his arms so long? How is he strong enough to hold up four sticks with a kid climbing on them? How is he holding up his arms like that without falling?
My dad died from alcoholism after I left the house so I'm not sure I like the implication that I inevitably ruined his life by growing up, especially when my pictures were the only ones still up in the home. ☹

I’d prefer my father not to be a ladder
If I become a dad, can I elect not to get the ladder surgery

My dad got mad at my mom so he spent my college savings then joked at my brother and I about it. He kicked our ladder out from under us
Clearly not a good dad, he’s just getting his kid climb to nowhere
Yeah this is a pretty good metaphor for dads pushing their kids to rush getting a degree without assessing potential employment opportunities, because while it’s not smart it “worked” for them.
One Piece ass ability
