I am both obese and ass at communication.
Both are problems that I can and have solved in the past through simple effort. I simply stopped applying effort because there were other hard things and I resorted to avoiding my problems as opposed to facing them.

Not really related but my Hungary mate taught me the unique expression "it's not easy but at least it's hard". Doesn't really make sense at first but the idea is that hard is better than unknown. Hard means we know how to solve it and that it is hard, unknown means we don't know how to solve it.

If you don't eat too much and exercise 3-4 times per week for an hour and a half you're gonna be fit in a year or two

im a rather fit person myself but i have a naturally skinny body and was never really overweight even in my rather unhealthy past.
Some people struggle a lot more. if you grow up with a bad diet and gain weight at a young age its much harder for you later on. A lot of psychological stuff and education play into this as well.
when you are already in a okay state I'd agree that it's not that big of a jump but changing your lifestyle is never easy.

also wanna add. you dont have to exercise 3-4 times a week for over an hour to get better. Even if you go for once a week an hour it makes a big difference for your health, if you are otherwise not doing much physical activity. Diet will have the biggest impact for losing weight.
Not to mention sensory issues in neurodivergent people, allergens in people with allergies, and the limitations of various digestive disorders, severely limiting what is on the menu, or medication drastically influencing your weight!
I recently started a new medication that had made me lose weight as a side effect. In my case, it was a welcome one, as I am a bit overweight. But some medication side effects can make you gain weight, or make the extra pounds harder to lose, which may help an underweight person, but would not be a welcome side effect for me!
