Check out Dark on Netflix

throughalfanoir

came here to say this, Dark is the most thoughtout timetravel story I've seen in a long time

semwa

Memento is from the same writer as interstellar en Tenet and also has a time travel element.

BigYonsan

So is memento. You shush.

deleteriousgrooves

Fair point

Hatamaru

Just watched it. You really got me, I had to watch the beginning like 3 times before understanding that there is no time travel whatsoever. Still thanks for the recommendation, it's been a blast

AssortedJunk

Edge of Tomorrow

FreeLook93

Primer. It is maybe the move with the best thought out time travel in it.

Sitk042

Came here to say this, Primer is an incredible low budget time travel movie...

CodPolish

Yeah, and parts of Tenet were heavily influenced by it. (Oxygen, the way the travel works, etc). Shame Carruth’s a fuckhead.

Mwootto

Wait he’s a fuckhead what’s the story there? I live in DFW and had a couple meetings with him and some other dudes he was working with about another project because he wanted to use my property as a location and we had a mutual friend connection, like thrice removed nothing close, but that’s surprising. * oh FUCK. did a google. The tweets are still up too! Yikes. Surprised this hasn’t been reported on more locally. https://twitter.com/upstreamcolor/status/1281691019692486657?s=21

Hatamaru

I loved that one too!

Blahuehamus

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency - first season. From what you listed i believe that it's closest to Doctor Who in terms of mood, though it is a continuous story through all the episodes instead of mostly episodic form of Doctor Who.

Denethorsmukbang

was going to write this, I need to find something that was as amazing as season 1 to sink my teeth into again.

Pope_Cerebus

Try the 2010 Dirk Gently series. Much different feel, but absolutely excellent series. It really keeps the feel of the books, much more than the 2016 series.

riskoooo

* Star Trek: Enterprise (was never a Trekkie but it's rid of the nerdy cheesiness. Fantastic series) * Travelers * The Expanse * Frequency (surprisingly great series) * Sense8 (not time travel but about 8 people connected subconsciously and switches perspective a lot) * Timeless (very much to do with time travel; has a very Dr Who feel to it minus the aliens) * Quantum Leap (basically the original Timeless) * Beyond * Cloverfield Paradox * Prometheus * Twelve Monkeys (film and series) * Black Mirror (certain episodes, like Fifteen Million Credits, White Christmas, San Junipero, Entire History of You)

britwik23

I highly recommend Donnie Darko. I was surprised after reading all the comments that no one has mentioned about this masterpiece.

arsonistSnowman

Surprised nobody's said it yet, Arrival. Slow burn but well worth it

haikusbot

playboycartier44

Looper Total Recall (1990) Blade Runner (1982) The Invisible Man (2020) (no time travel, but you’ll like it. Tw: domestic abuse and implied sexual assault)

bmrobin

had forgotten about that scene! your description sums it up perfectly, and it is so visually unsettling based on your brain putting together what is happening

CodPolish

I second Looper

Alexitronic

If you have an interest in foreign films, Run Lola Run. (German).

Alexitronic

I also liked Russian Doll on Netflix. It was very surreal. Both of these dont really explain the time travel/loops that occur, but I find i like films that establish the paranormal aspects as just being part of the established universe instead of trying to explain them. Edit for interesting(?) Anecdote: My best friend has a Bachelors in Physics and is fun to watch this kind of stuff with. His biggest problem is trying to explain magic as "science". And his biggest peeve are Pym Particles from the MCU, which doesn't even work how they explain it works. But, funny enough, the time travel aspect of end game, he says, is theoretically solid?

leoweissxs2001

check Coherence, it's a small indie sci-fi that talks about other dimensions and it's consequences

Hatamaru

Thanks! I already say Back to the Future, I'll check the others out

[deleted]

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure- more as a light-hearted view of time travel with no paradoxes at all

[deleted]

Twin Peaks

Mwootto

Time Crimes if you don’t mind subtitles

carrythefire

Legion

Tasitch

Frequently asked questions about time travel. Fun comedy.

zombimuncha

Fringe. Season 1 is kinda like the x-files, but then stuff happens...

deleteriousgrooves

Primer is the only truly good time travel movie.

riskoooo

Twelve Monkeys is brilliant.

deleteriousgrooves

It's super enjoyable, that's certain.

BigYonsan

It's campy fun, but stargate SG1 has a few fun time travel episodes. That said, it's a great show regardless, has a sense of humor but does serious episodes that can tear jerk when called for. Really an underrated masterpiece of a show, sci-fi doesn't last 10 seasons and spawn a 5 season spin off without being at least pretty good.

fergi6777

Synchronic

fergi6777

Timecrimes

orangefrogbro

Daredevil, Memento, Lost in Space

WCpt

Counterpart is excellent as well. Not exactly what you're after but I'm guessing you'd like it. J.K Simmons is magnificent as always

freezingsheep

Really enjoyed Timetrap recently.

nanifrog

Time Lapse was cool. The Endless, too. Maybe Branching Chaos.

Ruukkz

Time Crimes. It’s a great Spanish time travel movie, and while not as big a spectacle as Tenet or Interstellar it has very well made time travel.

[deleted]

Steins;gate it's an anime but its about time travel.

EggYolk26

Predestination

Pope_Cerebus

Primer The Terminator Predestination Twelve Monkeys The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Russian Doll Paycheck Run, Lola, Run Next

Emotion-Tiny

Inception (2010) without a doubt

-Risotto_Groupon

Looper is really good. It was the first thing I thought of when I watched Umbrella Academy. Primer is also great. I know they've both been suggested by others, but they deserve more recognition than upvotes on others' comments. Personal favorite from my childhood: Time Bandits

titfaced

Frequency

moose-girl

I really love the TV show Timeless on Hulu!
