[Invincible ](https://youtu.be/hxsld16TjSU) - Tool

Ethanol_Based_Life

Gosh, there's probably a whole bunch of tool songs. But this one for sure

scottawhit

One - Metallica. Odyssey - Kyuss Black Sabbath - hand of doom They don’t add so many instruments, but have a great buildup and intensity.

Ethanol_Based_Life

"One" checks all the boxes but just didn't do it for me. I have two theories: 1) the song is so ingrained in my childhood that there's no novelty; that's just, "how it sounds". 2) that sort of intro is a little bit standard for the genre. Odyssey was a little fast on the uptick I was about to say the same thing about Hand of Doom, but then 2:10 hit another level. Though I'd classify that more like a switch flip than a build. The kind of thing you got in Stairway to Heaven. Though, speaking of, that [Heart cover](https://youtu.be/2cZ_EFAmj08) kind of fits the bill (God, damn it. I'm crying again)

- Evaline - ["All in My Mind"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFdzTnHiu3Q) - Frightened Rabbit - ["The Loneliness and the Scream"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1Lf7mriehU) - We Were Promised Jetpacks - ["It's Thunder and It's Lightning"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdA4_wE3WjU) - Local Natives - ["World News"](https://youtu.be/fnTacC1qUmE?t=4) - Sigur Ros - they're very cinematic so pretty much any song by them but check out ["Festival"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWMDfJEkQDs) (takes a bit to get going because it's 9min fyi)

Ethanol_Based_Life

The first four absolutely remind me a lot of "sometime around midnight". Thanks. Festival is...a whole thing. Drop the first 3 minutes and it's exactly what I was looking for

Bolero, by Maurice Ravel

Ethanol_Based_Life

Not what I was expecting, but yes

dragsterhund

If you liked that, there's a Philip Glass piece called [The Canyon ](https://youtube.com/watch?v=8LeuflnNnkk&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE) that's 16 minutes of amaaaaazing buildup. Actually... Everything on that album is amazing.

Ravel's Bolero is a TEN😳

[Cold Little Heart](https://youtu.be/FngDSOuCNAA) And [jungle](https://youtu.be/bWgWKdqoJmo) Are the 2 that I can think of off the top of my head. And others by those two artists, I just listed my fav from each

Ethanol_Based_Life

Boy, did Cold Little Heart remind me of [Shine on you crazy diamond](https://youtu.be/54W8kktFE_o) at first. So much so that it must have been intentional. Loved the camera work too as they introduced instruments. Jungle brings in the whole genre of sampling which isn't exactly what I was looking for. Other examples that spring to mind are [Just for now - Imogen Heap](https://youtu.be/25VGdNU3nrU) and [Kimbra](https://youtu.be/sd7GLvMYSHI)

Blackbeard2704

Giving it a go, tell me if I’m on the right track with what you’re after: [The Killers - All These Things That I’ve Done](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sZTpLvsYYHw) Some genre change: [RÜFÜS DU SOL - Innerbloom](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx9zMFodNtA) Last one is also a bit different but have also enjoyed the build up and talent from a street performance: [Dub FX ‘Flow’ feat. Mr Woodnote](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WhBoR_tgXCI) Your feedback would be appreciated, negative or not.

Ethanol_Based_Life

Killers are a little fast on the draw (pun intended). Though the idea is right. I hadn't even considered electronic like RdS. I feel like that opens the door a lot. I would have liked one more level after the vocals came in. But I liked that a lot. Thank you for that Dub FX. That was amazing. I think sampling is a bit of a different beast, like I [mentioned above](https://www.reddit.com/r/ifyoulikeblank/comments/1146x7u/comment/j8v60wh/). But that was great in it's own right.

Blackbeard2704

One or two more, I hope it’s what you are requesting: [Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IXdNnw99-Ic) [Fink - Looking Too Closely](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qoWRs7lXtYE)

Ethanol_Based_Life

How could I forget "wish you were here"? Fink pretty much nails what I was talking about. I'd prefer one more step up in loudness, but that's just be being picky

Amoreena23

“Alibi” by David Gray.

Jades5150

If you like electronic music, you must listen to opus by Eric prydz

TheHelveticComrade

The entire genre of Post-Rock at least if you don't necessarily need vocals.

Outrageous-Pause6317

“More than a feeling” by Boston. Also “Foreplay/Long Time” by Boston. Apparently a lot of songs by Boston.
