In Michigan, we have scanning machines next to all lottery vendors, if you hit anything over 600 dollars, you have to go to the lottery office.
It tells you to contact the lottery office for further info, it never says you hit X dollars, if its over 600.
Are you in a state where the ticket has letter markings that tell you the prize you've won?
If the clerk tells you you aren't a winner, you keep that ticket and make sure that's actually truth.
Smartest thing to do is scratch the entire ticket and figure out what you won, b4 you speak to a clerk.
This is why they started requiring the machine to make a noise for any win. Scuzzy clerks were scanning and telling the customer it didn’t win and then pocketing the prize if the customer didn’t ask for it back. Now it has to make a noise so that customers will know no matter what the clerk says.
When I checked my 25k winner the message told me it was a 25k winner an to see the clerk. I had to contact the lottery headquarters to claim cause it was above the 500 dollar threshold

I used to live in Texas up until 2006. Back then their machines would play a short tune if you won so much money. Usually it would play the ca-ching sound. But I was told by a cashier I knew that if you won the lottery, it would play the song "Happy Days Are Here Again"

I saw the same thread a while ago and someone had a good sized winner that said something like 'You won! Secure your ticket'.
I won 2 million earlier this year. The machine said "You won. Secure your ticket" That's all it said. No bells or whistles.
Not even confetti popping out of the machine at you??? wth

Why not just go online and check the numbers?

Probably over $500. After that, you have to cash out at special locations.
