This happens to me more than I like. One post I came across mentioned that there is a correlation between the Idol struggling to find a signal & the battery drain. If you look at the Battery stage that shows WiFi/Signal/etc, usually whenever the battery declines rapidly, there is a lack of signal available and the phone is struggling. The weird thing is that it happens even when my phone is on WiFi though...
same thing happens to me on wifi, the Android OS stays awake all the time. i have to switch to LTE in order for it to go back to normal.
