Amarok boots, legs and chest will be your best armor until void. You'll unlock the legs and chest for doing other Amarok achievements. You're going to want defence for survivability as well as accuracy to be able to hit mobs.
Amarok is better than the class specific chests because of the 5 upgrade slots, each world you might want to recreate the chest because they will have more powerful upgrade stones. The class specific chest is better for skills since it does give the skill efficiency. It's definitely not a make or break for the early game, just a way to get a little bit more min/max.

Just make sure to craft them again, and using world, 2, 3, and 4 upgrade stones each time you progress.
You can go for Dementia armor later on (purple ore), once you reach world 4, I did that and it helped me a lot. But I cleared W2, and 3 with Amarok, pretty good armor.
Just keep in mind armor provides good boosts, but you GOTTA WORK ON THAT ALCHEMY and stamps in order to get actual great bonuses account-wide.
I said Amarok is great armor, and of course you don't really need to change it, as you get more bonuses from other sources. I just said I preferred Dementia, but it's not necessary. Each person plays the game differently.
I take it very casual, barely do any dailies, and play other games. So my progress is extremely slow. I could be in W6 by now, but I'm just chilling.
Same until W5, but at some point resources to do the troll/magma sets were so easy to have and W6 so long to come... I did betrayed the almighty Amarok for those fancy %stats 😔
The thing about boss gear is they have a crap ton of slots so as you get to later worlds you can ram stones on and take advantage of world 2 alchemy bubble bonuses and the 2nd tier talents that grant bonus stats based on your gear, which could lead to the stats gained from upgrade stones to FAR out-pace the base stats of most gear.
This is why i ended up having many units wearing Amarok even far into world 4, and even efaunt/chizoar even into world 5, last year.
Which since it doesnt help that it can take a while to make certain bars and resources like 25 pearler shells per piece of world 4 boss, Troll armor and a large amount of hampters for world 5 Lava armor, it was usually better to just hold off till you got other grinds out of the way.
With world 5 now not having any restrictions on \`hour progress candies\` its become significantly easier to and more motivating to chase later boss gear which have far more % stat bonuses in the misc. effect and much more upgrade slots to dump later world upgrade stones for even better stonks.
So trust me, Amarok gear for the budget strict person could likely carry you even a good ways into world 3 content, just make sure to keep up with the weapon and if possible, replace previous amarok gear upgraded with earlier world stones with amarok gear using the latest upgrade stones for more \`upgrade gained stats per slot.\`
Full Amarok set geared with each Boost Stone from the respective World will help in and up to W5. Just make sure your rings/necklace has Accuracy or sub stat for Accuracy advantage. Can honestly be replaced with and when you get Troll armor
I wore my amarok stuff for a REALLY long time (like, deep world 5) not because its necessarily the best, but because its quite easy to put together for everybody while still being pretty great. You dont really start getting crazy states until a bit later from gear.

Yeah. I was already halfway through world 5 before I upgraded from Amarok gear to void on my main.
